This store reminds me of small town Prescott. Friendly but professional and reasonably priced.

Paid just over $400 expecting a solid fix. About two weeks later, the watch stopped working. I brought it back and was told it was still under warranty, so they "resolved" it, but also mentioned I'd likely need to replace a faulty part soon. If that part was faulty, why wasn't it caught and addressed during the original service? That's what the service should have covered. To make things worse, user negligence was subtly implied, despite the fact that the watch had run flawlessly for nearly a decade until the service. It has now stopped working again and doesn't run at all. Also noticed the dial isn't properly aligned after the service. It's subtle, but definitely wasn't an issue before. I came in with a cosmetic issue and left with a non-functioning watch and unanswered questions. I'll be taking it elsewhere for a proper, transparent repair.

I want to preface this review by saying that I was recommended this business because it was said to…read morebe cheaper than others in the area, and that while the work the jeweler did was good, the experience I had and the feeling I felt while leaving the store made me not want to return. Whatever happened to: "the customer is always right"? I had my wedding band and engagement ring resized. I was curious as to their value for insurance purposes since I was going up in size and adding more "material" to them. Once the jeweler found out that my diamond was a lab and not "natural," his entire demeanor seemed to change. I defended my beloved wedding ring by rhetorically asking, why I would pay more than septuple the price for a natural diamond when I can be cost effective for the same exact thing? His wife joined the conversation and both were very defensive as to why natural diamonds are the only route people should take. The jeweler disparaged competitors who work with lab diamonds and I got the sense that his wife almost wanted me to feel bad for not having a "real" diamond. In addition to this, when I first went to their store, they inspected my rings, I accepted their price to resize, and dropped my rings off. Sounds like a typical interaction, right? Upon arrival for pick-up, they charged me $5 more per ring because the price of material "went up." Shouldn't the price agreed upon when I drop my items off be the price I pay when I pick them up? The burden shouldn't fall on the customer to "make up" for the fluctuation in price when it is the jeweler who decided to wait to fix the rings at a later time--when the market is known to change at any moment. I left with an off-putting feeling. I believe customers should leave a business feeling great, and actually wanting to return. Which I didn't--and won't. Once again, I want to give credit where credit is due and be fair in my review and give my entire experience. The jeweler did a good job with my rings size-wise (my engravings were a little scuffed/blurry but maybe that's normal with resizing?). He finished a couple of days earlier than his expected two-week timeline (I was told he started work on it the same morning of pick-up) which was much appreciated. The young woman, who I'm assuming is his daughter, who works at the front was nothing but kind and courteous the entire time... BUT customers should always be treated with kindness and leave feeling better than when they came in, especially if this is supposed to be a family business. Keep in mind that even the jeweler himself had to ask me if the diamond was natural or lab-grown. If a jeweler can't tell the difference between the two, then I believe that my husband and I made the best decision in purchasing my jewelry! Especially since these days, putting that saved money (from buying a lab diamond) towards a home was much more important to us. I understand that their business is a family one, but even if a customer's opinion on what kind of jewelry they purchase is opposite to theirs, they should leave it at that. At the end of the day, it's not personal--it's business. For anyone reading this review, if you would still like to go with them, I'd recommend going over everything in detail with them (in writing) before leaving your jewlery. If they are a cheaper option for you, that is great! I hope your experience was better than mine.

And oh my word, it reminded me so much of a mom and pop shop (I have a soft spot for those). I thought I'd give it a try and finally I found my one and only. Jose was fair and reasonable, after I picked up my newly resized engagement ring, I showed him my wedding ring ( an all around diamond). It's been bugging me for years that I would constantly lose a diamond or it seems as if I did, because of a black space it had. I asked Jose if he could do anything. The funny thing is, he showed me another ring similar to mine and comparing the two, mine looked like crooked teeth. I simply asked Jose to fix the part that's been bothering me. Holy moly guys!! When he showed me my ring I thought he mistaken the ring for someone else. It didn't look anything like it did before. Jose fixed every single prong and made them straight. He went beyond what I had asked and did a beautiful job. He's a very friendly and kind guy, I'm glad I found his shop. I will definitely come back again to get my ring replayed. I couldn't tell where he had worked, but now my ring fit perfectly. I was impressed that my ring had also been polished while in his care. What a pleasant surprise that the ring not only fit, but sparkled beautifully as well. While I was waiting, I looked around Chavez Jewelry to see a variety of pieces. He has gemstones, natural stones, and metals in all types. His shop is very clean, and Mr. Chavez himself is a very friendly, approachable man. Please consider visiting him. You won't be disappointed!
