We brought two rings to be repaired to a nearby business and were treated very poorly by a rude woman and given a high quote with a side of attitude. We left immediately and went to find someone with even the slightest bit of people skills. Found Goldmine Jewelers and was greeted by a nice gentleman who gave his condolences when we told him the resized ring request was for a memorial ring and he spoke kindly to like he wanted our business and explained things unlike the other place. The gentleman gave us a reasonable quote and told us he could have both rings finished in an hour, which we didn't expect whatsoever. I just visited this store because i saw a silver cross in the window that i loved... There was a couple buying something, I totally understand the lady was helping them - a simple hello, I'll be right with you for starters would of been pleasant. A SIMPLE ACKNOWLEDGMENT, would it hurt to greet people who walk in the door? I was there for at least 5 minutes and literally ignored. I've been in there three times. The wife is nice and courteous. The second time I went in the husband assisted me in changing out a watch battery. Today I went in and both the husband and wife were there. The husband is very rude and arrogant: I suppose they don't need the business of customers or the money. A little less than a year ago I went to Goldmine to have my original USAF pilot wings cast in silver and made into a bracelet for daily wear. The bracelet cost over $400 but I was relatively happy with product. Last week checking out of a hotel I looked down and noticed the bracelet was gone. It was lying at my feet and broken through the cast wings. I took it back to the jeweler this afternoon and showed it to the him. He looked at me and arrogantly said "Looks like you broke it". I was appalled. I didn't break anything. What broke was a shoddely made piece of expensive jewelry. I asked what we could do about and he said he could solder it back together and he would charge me $60 or it could be re-cast. I didn't even want to know what that was going to cost as again, the bracelet was over $400. I told him I'd think about it. Actually nothing to think about. I'll have the bracelet repaired but not by him. To be honest, the first time I went in to the store I found the jeweler to be a bit off putting. The way he talked me today was inexcusable. Not even an "I'm sorry this happened". No attempt to stand behind something he made. Pictures are attached and speak for themselves. This a fairly high end shop. Be advised, if you buy something there or have custom jewelery made, once you leave they don't stand behind the product. read more

We left my husband's ring to be sized and were told we could pick it up the next day after 3. We arrived the next day and the jeweler told us that he never said it would be finished by 3 and he hadn't gotten to it yet and we could wait 2 hours. We declined to wait and went to the jewelry store a couple of doors up and they had it sized in less than 10 minutes. Went in to get My watch battery replaced. When I innocently inquired how long it might take. The woman said it would take as long as it would take. couldn't give me any sort of range. I asked like days , hours. She's like" I can't tell you. " I said ok. ( Although, there was not another soul in the store.) Usually. It takes a jewelry less than 5 min.... I returned 45 min later and she charged me 20 more than Any other store that I've ever been to have the watch battery replaced. I paid and then she announced that I Could not have the watch unless I produced a very small yellow ticket. Needless to say she let me rummage through things for quite awhile before I found it. This woman should not be in the service industry at all. I would suggest maybe she worked in the back room working on the fixing of the very important watches. read more

I recently went to Goldmine Jewelers to have a couple of family heirlooms restored and resized. My experience was disappointing to say the least. This particular space used to be 'Newman Gallery', which we all loved. My family had purchased jewelry there for years...Newman was trustworthy, genuine, and authentic. Post Newman, the space was purchased by Goldmine Jewelers. Therefore, I expected the same authenticity and business mentality. I am inexperienced in jewelry alterations..pricing, formalities, etc., and you best believe they knew it. I was overcharged for the alterations, as well as misinformed about what they did with the remaining gold left over from the two gold/diamond rings I had resized. A friend of mine had asked me if they had communicated with me what I wanted to do with the remaining gold from my alterations. I thought...hmm no, they sure did not. I returned to Goldmine Jewelers to inquire about this, and they made me feel uncomfortable/jewelry illiterate for asking about my remaining gold. They informed me "It goes without saying that all jewelers automatically keep the gold, and it gets melted down and recycled." I let them know that it was my first experience in jewelry alterations, therefore I was not aware. So, I kindly asked for my remaining gold back. They then charged me $20 to return the gold, on top of the already overcharged total. Needless to say, I did not expect to have this kind of an experience from a small-town jeweler in my hometown. If you are looking for a fair and honest recommendation for jewelry alterations from a small business owner, I suggest Prescott Watch & Clock off of Iron Springs. Randomly stopped in while my friend was buying some earrings- asked them if they could take a look at my grandmas ring that had a chip in one of the diamonds. They inspected it and confirmed that the Diamond was chipped and two others were loose. They replaced the chipped diamond, secured the loose ones and cleaned it within an hour- highly recommend! The owners are so nice and straightforward. Didn't feel like I got ripped off at all and I plan on bringing all my jewelry here for cleaning/inspecting. read more
