Poor school system. Sadly a very unwelcoming first year of kindergarten. So disappointing!

I chose this school before moving to Las Vegas and, not knowing the area, I thought it would be a good fit. Unfortunately, my experience was far from what I hoped for, and I would not recommend sending a child here. During my daughter's time at the school, she was repeatedly denied permission to use the bathroom--something I also heard from other students and parents. This led to unnecessary accidents for young children who were only in second grade. It was extremely upsetting to see basic needs dismissed like that. The overall focus of the school seemed to be on testing above all else, rather than the well-being and development of the students. After a year, I decided to take my daughter out, just as several other parents had done. She is now in a new school and is so much happier, which confirmed that making the change was the right decision. This was just our personal experience, but I hope it helps other families make an informed choice. read more

If I could give this school no stars, I would. My son was enrolled his 1st grade year for the year 2024/2025. I didn't have a great experience at all. My child should feel safe when being sent to school. My son's 1st grade teacher showed no signs of care when it came to his academics. She would reach out to me for other frivolous things, but him getting F's all school year wasn't a concern to her. In the 1st quarter, my son came home complaining that his teacher smacked him in the head. I talked to admin, and everyone tried covering her actions up. I know what my son said was true because he doesn't lie to me & the way the teacher was acting after I told on her, proved the truth to me. I would not recommend this school because of the experience I had. read more

I never dreamed I would post such a statement. But the mama bear in me cannot handle her children and or grandchildren being abused and humiliated. My granddaughter is an excellent student. She passed all her tests and she had a half credit missing on her grades. See did pass the eighth grade, and with the exception of that half credit which she was going to work on during summer school. That was the only thing that was missing from her school curriculum. I must note that she lost her father due to a sudden illness. And this of course, has affected her in a great way. She is the sweetest and kindest and most helpful young lady that you would ever want to meet. All of her teachers liked her and probably even loved her. As I stated, she did pass her tests and made A's on all of her tests. But because of that one measly half credit, the principal and whoever else made the decision that she would not be able to walk across the platform to receive her eighth grade diploma, even though she had earned it. My daughter went and talked to the principal, and he, of course, was rude, stern, and in no way compassionate about her situation. There was no caring or sympathy on his part and probably some of the other teachers as well. I'm not sure about that. But I am sure about what the principal said, not only to my daughter, but my granddaughter as well. My granddaughter was not the only one in the eighth grade class who was not allowed to walk across the stage and receive her diploma, even though she had earned it. With the death of her father, and also the recent death of her grandfather, you would think there would be some understanding and compassion for a young lady. So, not only was the principal mean and uncaring to both of my girls. But whoever was in charge of the walking across the stage, part of the graduation thought it would be appropriate to single out those who were not going to be able to walk across the stage. All the eighth graders were in a room, and this woman called all of the students who were not walking out and made them go to the other side of the room and stand there and watch while the other children were able to do what they all should have been able to do. I am so disappointed and so hurt and my granddaughter was heartbroken and humiliated. How dare you? In the past I have heard stories about this Legacy school program that were not so flattering. But now, this lack of empathy and caring towards the students has been made abundantly clear. I will never ever recommend Legacy to anyone. You should be ashamed of yourselves. I have heard of other schools that showed compassion for their students that had not even passed their grade. But at least they were allowed to walk across the stage so that they could have that happy memory of their time at the school. You have taken this away from my granddaughter. Her memories of your school will be the humiliation that you gave to her on her last week of school. I guess after so many years of being in the education business, your hearts have hardened against anyone who is in genuine need of your kindness and compassion. Again, you ruined her eighth grade experience with your cruelty and cold attitude and turned it into a nightmare. The sad part is that I'm sure that she is not the only one that has received this type of behavior from your school. And she probably won't be the last.. You need to re-examine your treatment of your students. There is always room for kindness, especially in this type of a situation, but apparently Legacy has forgotten that concept. You need to look inside your own hearts and decide if you would want your child treated the way you have treated my granddaughter and probably others as well. specifically disappointed in my daughters teacher Epsy 7th grade English / literature....Ive emailed my daughters teachers multiple times, spoken to principal trying to keep update on my daughters grades because the app they keep referring to will not show you . This specific teacher kept giving my daughter a failing grade but kept telling me she was passing , makes no sense right ? Ive had her do extra credit etc . The teachers and front staff lack communication and the response time is little to none. I got more of a response when my child was in cheer but grades ? little to none . My son was a new start for 6th grade for the 25-26 school year. At first we were excited and looking forward to it. The FIRST week I noticed he stopped eating dinner and was doing push ups. I asked his what was wrong and he broke down to me stating a nasty child was calling him fat constantly. My son is not overweight by the way. This upset me. I brought it to his teachers attention and they said they would Take care of it and had him fill Out a form. Cool making an effort. I guess not because it continued. I left MANY messages for staff and never got a call back. The bullying continued and he had 2 other instances of bullying with 2 separate kids and still nothing happened. The final straw was the day before value day. Value day is a day full of fun and games. I picked my son up the day before and he had a full blown panic attack because the kids threatened to beat him up on value day. I was so upset I called the school and the staff had zero emotion. My mom even called and they said they would call us back I have yet to get a call a week later. My son has not gone back . I went to withdraw him and they are supposed to do an exit interview and when the office gal walkied someone asking if they were available for an exit interview they walkies back in a rude tone that they were busy... again obviously not caring. Hello, I'm a student at this horrid school, and I would NOT suggest going to this "mini hell" that I went to for 5 years. I think I got lucky making a few normal and good friends and friendly people there, which there were about only 17 if I were to count it. Plus, the "No bullying and free WiFi" marketing is pure lies. I'd rather go to a McDonalds for WiFi than that area. Sometimes there would be racist and sexist teachers and principles there, and by sometimes, I mean mostly. The food was kinda good, but made my toilet my second home. Speaking of toilets, the bathrooms were quite literally a prologue to the ghetto, with turd and urine on the floors and walls. This school is seriously a joke. I thought I would give it a shot because it's less than a mile from my house. Why does pick up take 30 minutes EVERY SINGLE DAY?? Every teacher or aid I've had an encounter with has an attitude, you can never get through to the front office and there isn't any parking at drop off or pick up, but that's your only option because the don't offer bus routes. Mrs. Wise the assistant principal told my 8 year old daughter that her crooked tooth needs to fall out and that her silver teeth need to fall out and that she needs to brush her teeth more , my daughters feelings are very hurt and I'm confused as to why an adult is bullying my child and judging her appearance ... my daughter is an honor roll student and I thought this was All about education but that is just mean and cruel and inappropriate. As an ex student at this school I can with my chest say there are so many better options. This school has many struggles running over the years and has been getting worse and worse. They're always behind on staff mostly teachers and the teachers that are there don't even teach the subject and talk about anything else. Along with that they get stricter and stricter with the students and with unnecessary rules, an example is my sister (who still attends) told me that they aren't allowed to wear khaki which is apart of the original uniform. They also started giving out after school detention to students without warning. The only reason why I attended and why they are is because they have an orchestra and band, but that too got worse over the years. read more

The school looks great from the outside. The inside is another story. There are fights almost everyday. They are not stopped; aids just blow whistles and all the kids videotape them so they can post on social media. My grandson got attacked at this school. Repeatedly struck in the head. The attacker withdrew from the school the same day, but my grandson stayed and continued to be approached by kids and harassed. This school has ZERO control over the kids who are wild and unruly. Luckily my grandson stuck it through until the end with excellent grades. His 8th grade teachers were mostly excellent. Knowing what I know now, I would have enrolled him in a different school. My wife and I are absolutely blown away with this school! The curriculum is very challenging, even for a 1st grader, but my daughter is thriving and learning so much. FYI, this school will have way more work than an average Clark county public school. ( My 1st grader has 30 spelling words every single week along with multiple pages of home work) Some might see this as a problem, so just know what you're getting in to. As for the quality of staff and school amenities, we couldn't be more happy with what we've seen. My daughter's teacher, Ms. Gatlin is absolutely the best and my daughter is very excited about school, every day! We've had pleasant encounters with all school staff from day 1. They also have an amazing music program, far better than other schools I've seen. Oh, and without a doubt, the best school lunch you've ever seen! If you want to push your kid, or they're not being challenged enough in their current school, I would highly recommend Legacy Cadence! read more

I'm a kid that goes to this school and trust me of you are looking for a safe and organized environment for your kids you have got the wronggggg school for example since I am in middle school and have a bunch of books you would think that they would have somewhere for use to put the books we don't use or need on a daily basis... right? Well you would be wrong we have to carry all of our books, folders, e.c.t in our backpack which is not good for your back I mean I'm not a person that deals with muscles or anything Also so far this school year two teachers have left and the subs in those classrooms teach us nothing and or just sleep the whole time while we watch a video the teachers are creepy to... the staff sucks and aids are just straight up mean the stuff you are learning is great but if you don't want to traumatize your children please and I repeat PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR CHILD HERE! One more things the bullying here never gets taken care of they just tell us "make better choices" and leave it at that and the problem never gets solved or they tell you "just stay away from each other" also another example of not great teachers is my science teacher he literally gives us 20 min lectures at the beginning of class about our behavior and then another 2 min lecture at the end of class also since the hallways are so cramped and kids just stop in the middle and talk to their friends nobody can move! He also never lets us out on time so if your next class is in the computer room you better be prepared to be late. Also the passing period is only 2 min which is not enough time to go to the bathroom or do anything for that matter so you just have to hold it and you can't get to your class and then ask the teacher "can I go to the bathroom" the teacher will say this "no you have to wait for 10 min" LIKE WHAT excuse me?! Your telling me that I have to wait 10min to go to the bathroom and then you can't go the last 10 min of class either so you are either late to your next class if you go during passing orrrrr... you have to wait and extremely long time! Lastly the lunch sometimes it's good but other times it is not especially on the day when they have peanut butter and jelly it's not even real peanut butter it's like sun butter or something is sooooo... gross like. Also for driveline we are not allowed to go down the middle stair way so you have to walk half way across the school just to get to your one if you are in green or orange. Lastly I'm serious dress code you have to have a collared shirt and if you don't you will get one and it might not even fit yup cause they get the clothes out of the lost and found also pants can't have holes in them and jackets have to be solid color and of they are not well it's getting taken away or you have to put it in your backpack skirts have to be up to your knee no shorter anywayyyy.. like I said this is all coming from a kid so believe it or not idrc it just a warining do not tout your child in this school read more

Sinking ship. Run fast! This school used to be incredible. Now there are behavior problems throughout the whole school. In my child's class alone there are 10 students who continually back talk, disrespect, won't listen, won't follow direction, throw tantrums and starlight up just walk out of the classroom. Every time the teacher tries to get help from Admin they just tell her she has " a lot of personalities" and send the kids right back telling them to just "make better choices". Some of these children need suspension or even expulsion. There should be no pass for someone punching others everyday or throwing desks and chairs. Not to mention yelling to get their way. It's sad when the maintenance crew has to try and help a teacher get children to listen because their boss won't. This is just at elementary level. In middle school it gets much worse. Save yourself the hassle. Go to a school where Admin supports their teachers and truly helps them, instead of hiding in their office. read more

The school itself is good. But safety is terrible. You're lucky if you're child doesn't almost get ran over. The Principal doesn't call the city to fix the crosswalks that are connected to the school property side walks that have faded and nearly disappeared off the street. Also the Stop signs are not visible and no red flashing light. People constantly speed and turn left and right nearly running over children. The school should be the ones calling and talking with the City everyday to fix these street signs and markings or have a crosswalk person on the corner holding a stop sign! 1 star only because it was great when my daughter was in kindergarten and even last year with hybrid it was good. But this school went downhill fast. All her work was 1st grade work again when she's in second grade. She lost her teacher 3rd week of school and got an inexperienced substitute teacher. 6 teachers quit before the 1st semester was even over. With 4 substitute. They had aids and coaches filling in so the kids didn't do anything. There some extremely missed behaved kids and bullies that continue to do what they do because there's a lack of discipline. So if your kid is the one being bullied nothing with happen but if your kid finally stand up for themselves they will get in trouble. The principal and vice principal has lost control of the school and students. Bathrooms are constantly being vandalized. The teachers aren't backed up when students aren't behaving and disruptive. So many teachers are unhappy. And there are way too many kids per teacher. 25+ kids. Your kid will not be challenged academically. And they will not feel comfortable with bullies in classes. My experience at legacy was not great it was horrible the gym floor was so dirty and the bathrooms stunk so bad my child would come home crying everyday because kids would bully her and my 7th grader had a science teacher who would never stay on topic and the history teacher for 7th grade was even worse he cares way to much about the dress code, I sent my kid to school with a puffer coat that was navy blue WHICH IS IN THE DRESS CODE and the teacher sent him to the office and last time I checked the kids could wear gray but now they get dress codes even though it was in the dress code and the history teacher also he grades papers and never puts them in the grade book and the pe teacher was so unfair to my daughter the pe teacher would not let her used the bathroom even when she was on her period and gave her detention for asking to go, the front desk ladies are very rude for no reason and one of the hall members opened up the stall on my daughter when it was locked and I still find it weird that the kids cannot use their phones in legacy after 3:00 which is when school ends, overall this is a horrible school and it was a horrible experience and I will never ever send my child here again I am warning you if you want your kids to learn Im telling you right now LEAGCY IS NOT IT AT ALL. read more

Beware! Student learning is limited as teachers are given an unrealistic pacing plan allowing for limited time for students to master material. Teachers are stressed and overworked. Constant testing with 7-9 tests EVERY FRIDAY, some of them with only 7-10 questions but all scores being out of 100. Classes are large and focus is mostly on high achievers. Admin very inconsistent with behavioral issues and safety concerns. Not recommended as a very positive place. read more

We can't say enough great things about this school. This is our 2nd year at Legacy. Our first grader is doing multiplication and fractions and has developed an unmatched love for reading. Her teachers have been beyond amazing communicating with us and and always answering any question that comes up. Admin is great and is always so welcoming and helpful when needs arise. My kids attend legacy traditional school at cadence in Henderson. My 9 yr old has been being bullied all year and has been suspended twice and on the verge of being expelled because she was fighting to defend heraelf against bullies. Ive spoke with the techers and prinicpal multiple times and they say "its been handled but we cant disclose any details" yet the bullying continues. At a school dance yesterday my daughters were pushed and smacked by 8th graders. When they brought it to the teachers they were told to stay away from them. The bullying continued through the whole dance. I was never notified. When i arrived to pick them up when the dance ended 2 hrs later, i seen both my kids and three others crying. They told me what happened. I began speaking with one of the parents of the 8th graders involved who of course denied the whole thing and blamed another kid who wasnt there. Another parent came up and said the younger group of kids had been crying all night. I was livid and said well if my kids were crying for 2 hours why wasnt i contacted! Then a teacher approached me and said he didnt contact me because he didnt want to intrrupt my night. I said if my children are in distress i need to be notified period. I dont care where i am or what im doing. The principal was there as well and could not give me a valid reason as to why i was not contacted when my children were assualted and she stated they didnt feel the need to contact me because when they approached the kids and asked if they were ok they said they were just crying because someone hurt their feelings. I replied "if my kids are crying like that ALL night then i need to be contacted period!" Every time i bring a bullying situation to the staff at Legacy it is swept under the rug and my children are punished for defending themselves. Both fights my daughter was in she was hit first, but reprimanded and suspended when she was only defending herself.In regards to the 504 plan, my daughter is type 1 diabetic and there has been several occasions where her PE teacher has denied her access to the restroom when she had high blood sugars(which cause frequent urination) she is not granted the correct privacy at school when getting pump site changes(placed on her butt) my mother had to take my daughter to her car in the school parking lot to change her pump site as there was no private area available in the school. I am never notified when she is running low on life saving supplies. There have been many times when i have had to leave work to bring her test strips because she ran out and i have asked them on multiple occasions to notify me when she needs refills as im not there so i cant tell when she is running low. I work 40 mins from her school, she could potentially die in that time frame if unable to check her blood sugar levels. I went to the school two weeks ago to check on her supplies. A new nurse that started about a month prior was there. I introduced myself and said i was stopping in to check on supplies to see what she needed restocked. She was like oh ok. Yea i never check their stuff (referring to the diabetics) they just come in and test themselves. So im looking through her low snacks (which are protein) for use when she needs to keep her levels up for PE or any physical activities, and they were not only expired, but her pepperonis were brown..... and the nurse couldnt even tell me which items in the fridge were my daughters. Nothing was labeled with kids names(mine nor the other diabetics ar the school). it is vital for her to have all medications and treatment foods on hand at all times. This is a life or death situation daily and they are not taking the necessary precautions to make sure my daughters are safe at school. read more

We are in our 2nd year at Legacy Traditional School in Cadence and we could not be happier with our experiences so far. This is not an easy school, kids are going to be challenged, they have homework every night and they have plenty of tests every week. If you are looking for a school where parents don't need to be involved in their kids education and will let kids skate by, then Legacy is not the school for you. Parents must be involved for kids to succeed in any school but especially at Legacy. Legacy puts CCSD schools to shame! Our Kindergarten Teacher, Mrs. Jackson, was amazing, I volunteered in her classroom a few times and she has an outstanding grasp on things and the kids love her. Our 1st Grade Teacher, Ms. Grimm is also outstanding and from what I have seen her kids love her too. Is everything perfect? No, no place ever is, see too many parents complain just to complain without offering solutions or offering to help. Our son is learning things in 1st Grade now that I didn't learn until 4th or 5th Grade! For this family, we would make the choice to attend Legacy a million times over, we see that the school is setting up our son for success in life even at such a young age and we can't wait to see him and the school grow better everyday! I have debated posting this post for a month now but I chose to share my Experience finaly because the more I see happening at the school I feel worried for other parents and children.this school goes there teachers like skittles. They dont have any sort of up holding standards they just hire any random person off the linked in website. They allow teachers to neglect children and scare them so bad they're terrified ..there dosent seem to be any repercussion for bullying and the lack of caring and fixing the problems seems to be pushed under the rug. Was such a disappointment to my family we thought being a charter school it would be a great start for a kinder but ended up being a traumatic experience I was afraid it could ruin her thoughts on school the rest of her life we pulled our child out .bottom line is this school is to new and opened to early they need to hire better teachers and care about what is going on .30 plus kids per class is to much this is why they have such a hire turn over rate .then they dont want to look bad so they make the teachers resign. JUST TAKE THE TIME AND HIRE GOOD TEACHERS AND GET THEM THE AIDS YOU PROMISED TO HELP IN CLASS WITH 30 PLUS KIDS IN EACH. THATS CRAZZY . Train your staff better and get it together. read more

Would not recommend this school to anyone. We've been there since they've opened and the more days go by the more staff seems to care less and less. My child has been hurt multiple times and I hear nothing from the school only from my child when they come home. Tired of feeling like my child is "just a number" to them. My child matters, my child's feelings matter, my child's grades matter, and my child's happiness matters. The day they came home and cried saying they were too scared to go back was the last straw for me. Legacy - your school will NOT thrive if you don't start getting a backbone and standing up for children - ALL CHILDREN! You spend more time letting naughty kids sit in the office that you don't even glance at the ones that are on the receiving end of that. Quit hiring people that are just there for a check and could care less about how they treat kids and how they allow others to treat each other. Under no circumstance should a staff member EVER lay a hand on a child. Unacceptable. What happened to the no bullying policy? Does this not apply to staff as well? You have gotten way to comfortable "allowing" kids to hit with no discipline. Telling the other child to stop hitting and going about your day is NOT ok and does nothing. Get your values and your policies prioritized and figured out and be consistent and follow through with what you're promising parents and children.
