I was a patient at Legacy Trails for several years and overall had positive experiences with the staff and dentists, who were kind, professional, and genuinely caring. The dental hygienists and my primary dentist will truly be missed. That said, I'm sharing some constructive feedback that ultimately led me to seek care elsewhere. I had a difficult wisdom tooth extraction where, despite my dentist's best efforts, the tooth was not fully removed, leaving a retained root that affected a nerve and resulted in months of headaches. I was not prescribed any medication at the time and was advised to manage pain with Tylenol only. When I returned due to ongoing pain, I was referred to an oral surgeon who did not accept my BCBS insurance. After further research, another oral specialist discovered an additional severely decayed wisdom tooth that I had not previously been informed about. Thankfully, I was able to receive proper treatment and resolution elsewhere. Another long-standing concern was inconsistency in billing. I was frequently quoted one amount, only to be charged a different total at later visits, which was disappointing as a long-term patient--especially being in healthcare myself. I've been coming here for 2/3 years and ever since dr.shim left it's been SOO BAD they want nothing but money from you, they won't give the patient any proof of really anything unless you ask and when you do they make it seem like it's an inconvenience. I had a wonderful experience at this dental office thanks to Irma and Jennifer. Jennifer, the Office Manager, was professional, welcoming, and extremely organized. She made the entire visit smooth from start to finish and was always kind and attentive. Irma, the hygienist, was absolutely amazing. She was very caring and took the time to educate me on everything that was occurring during my visit. She explained each step clearly, made sure I was comfortable, and showed genuine concern for my dental health. Her compassion and knowledge truly stood out.especially to my daughter !!! My review is based on Dr. Idowu Akinyele and my experience at legacy trails. I'm new to the area so I was searching for a dentist for myself and my three elementary school kids. I've had a lot of dental work done in the past and moved around a lot so I am very knowledgeable when it comes to dentist experiences. When I had my appointment, Dr Akinyele was suggesting very expensive and invasive procedures for a tooth I had just gotten a new crown on in the Bay Area. When I said I'll think about it he said that I am a high risk patient based in my previous dental history and not doing this now would put me at even more high risk. I have never experienced this type of fear-mongering from a dentist. There's a lot more to unpack but let me move on to what really triggered this review. The next day my son had a filling to do. I didn't want to cancel an appointment so I thought what was the worst thing that could happen with one filling. Well when they were numbing my son, no dental assistant was there and the Dr did not help w suctioning so my son was visibly and audibly choking in his own saliva. I know saliva isn't painful but for a child to sit there not knowing if he could swallow that or what to do, this could be very traumatizing. Then the filling started and again my son started audibly choking and tears coming down his cheeks. He is 11 so not a baby so I know he was holding on as hard as he could but I could visibly see he was upset and traumatized from the choking happening twice. The dentist left him like that to get an assistant and after that the assistant was able to help w the suctioning. Once the procedure was finished, the Dr left without saying bye, no eye contact to my son or myself, and my son was still laying there visibly tearing and upset. I looked at the assistant once the Dr left and asked, is this normal that a Dr would see a patient so traumatized and upset, let alone a child, and leave like this after a procedure?? I spoke with the office manager to share about my experiences. There needs to be accountability over this type of poor bedside manners and unprofessionalism. As someone who has had a lot of dental work around multiple states, this is the worst dentist experience I've ever had and the only poor review I've ever left for a dentist / doctor experience. Where are all the good dentists who were when i started couple years ago. Every 6 months i see new dentist. Not happy with some of the latest procedures done by latest dentists. I had to go back multiple times in an attempt to get back to normal. Still it is not fully resolved. Not sure if we were guinea pigs. Not comfortable at all. VERY friendly staff overall. The receptionists made sure I would be seen quickly and were very kind. The dental assistant, Justin, was wonderful in making sure I was comfortable with my anxiety. He was gentle performing X rays, and was efficient and quick. He brought me a fan, asked if I needed breaks, and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. The main Dentist, Dr Christina Ky, was very sweet and understanding of my mental health issues causing my decline in dental health. She went through every issue with my teeth thoroughly and patiently, showing me my x rays and imaging. Jennifer was SO kind and supportive, walking me through all pricing and plans to make sure my care was covered and planned out according to my needs. I would absolutely recommend this practice to friends and family. I say all this because I found a really great dentist who gives off more of a "I know what I'm doing and won't kill you and your five friends" vibe. Everyone from Sanjita (misspelled...I'm bad at names) to Jennifer up front and Dr. G was awesome. Prices were within reason and didn't make me choke on that bad tooth I have. Look there's a thousand places I'd rather be - getting something notarized, organizing my sock drawer, heck, dealing with my kids arguing...but they've figured out how to make the time here less horrific and more relaxing. When you meet a new patient try asking them about their dental history and treatments instead of just looking at an X-ray and blurting out procedures that need to be done as if you're ringing up a register. Also, how about paying attention to younger patients and making sure they're comfortable instead of singing a song and doing your thing without any assistance. A terrible lack of standards on how to treat patients with individual care. This type of care happens when you allow bad habits and bad dentists to practice with no accountability. I'm deeply saddened to say this, but in my opinion, I had a very traumatic experience my last few visits at Legacy trails Dental. The first visits years back were great with Dr. Romanoff and she did great job with a top frontal implant. Then the staff changed and they mocked a face mask I wore because I have a compromised lowered immune system and they faked coughing around me when I came to get a bottom implant finished. They had so many negative reviews on their website about the rude staff that they had to redo their website and I guess they've made behavioral adjustments to their staff since then. No one especially no patient or customer should ever be treated like that. The day I came for the lower implant, they were overbooked and she started working on a small cavity I had and then numbed my lower tooth to do implant and I told her I had two hours before I had to take a call from a doctor. Two hours was more than plenty of time for her to finish the implant but instead someone with an unscheduled non emergency appointment she went and worked on him instead and never finished my implant. I just sat there two hours waiting for her and asking them when she could get to me. And they made me pay for the numbing treatment and then she didn't even finish the work. So I had to come back another day and when I came back, the office manager told me the implant was just 1 mm off and the dentist was a perfectionist and didn't want to put it in and they didn't have the courtesy to call me before I made the 35 minute drive to get there. Well why didn't they tell me the first time I was there that it was 1 mm off and even before that when they received the new tooth? it doesn't make sense. I did miss some appointments prior because I later found out I was only getting 35% oxygen to my body, causing the exhaustion, but I could've done the dental work those two days I was able to push my body to get there. I decided to go another dentist they never told me what they were gonna do about that situation with the tooth and my teeth were starting to move inward that were next to the incomplete implant and front teeth moved forward and because the two tooth leaned inward they pushed the front teeth forward. An Orthodontist told me it would take thousands and thousands of dollars to correct it. If she just would've done it the day I was there with an appointment and with plenty of time to complete putting on the new implant tooth, the teeth would've stayed aligned better. Also, they charged me $150 to get an panoramic x-ray done at their other office. The x-ray technician told me to stand in a spot where the machine hit the back of my head twice, so the x-ray didn't turn out and they never refunded my money even though I told them and she knew the x-ray didn't work. I hope I didn't pre-pay for the implant because I never got a refund if I did. I asked to see the itemized statement to see if they did charge me, and while I was looking at it, the girl at the front desk, ripped it out of my hands. I left there in tears. Since my unfortunate experience there, I believe they have made improvements by looking at current reviews. read more

I have been coming here for four years and, the past year or two, it has not been good. The wait time has become astronomical. The last three times I came, I have had to wait over 35 minutes. It's unacceptable, Jennifer is a sweetheart. A staff told me they were understaffed, but how rude is that to overbook and inconvenience me. Dr. Afshin is the greatest Dentist I have ever seen in his way of making you feel comfortable and informed about your health and care . I had a problem from my last work with a deferent dentist office for over a year and Dr Afshin examined , gave me the rundown, and his suggestion and made pain go away all with in a week ( amazing!!!!!!) I do NOT recommend LEGACY TRAILS DENTAL unless you have "deep pockets" or great dental insurance. 1. Went in for X-RAYs and cleaning. Dentist started telling me her resume. I have never had a dentist or doctor ever do that. WHY WOULD THEY TRY TO IMPRESS ME? 2. Was not shown my teeth X-RAYS, and was told I have gum disease, and need a DEEP GUM CLEANING. They introduced me to their person that handles the finances. She kept giving me discounts, but still ended up wanting me to pay $1,500 for deep gum cleaning for all four quadrants, and $300 to replace a CAP that has a small chip. That's a whopping $1,800. And, that works out to $375 a quadrant for deep gum cleaning. I searched on the internet and found the normal charge is anywhere from $188 per quadrant to $230 per quadrant, which is $752 to $920 for all four quadrants. In other words, they wanted to charge me TWICE AS MUCH as recommended. I got a second opinion from TEXAS DENTAL. They showed me my X-RAYS, and explained, in great detail, what we were looking at. They agreed I have gum disease, but DEEP GUM CLEANING IS NOT REQUIRED OR RECOMMENDED. They suggest I have my teeth cleaned three or four times a year. And, the chipped cap can wait till "down the road". They eased my mind, and saved me $1,400. Very nice ladies but very over priced. read more

I found Legacy Dental through my insurance company. I was needing a typical routine cleaning and I'm sure we all dread these visits. I was pleasantly surprised at how sweet, quick, and accommodating the front desk was. (Honestly, sometimes these people can be rather moody or short). X-rays, measuring of gums, and then of course the cleaning. Honestly, I was slightly nervous but I was actually pleasantly surprised. The doctor was super sweet, confident and knowledgeable.. I actually allowed her to file a small chip on my front tooth. She did incredible. I am tremendously thankful for both the experience as well as the results. read more

The office is clean and reception desk staff are friendly. The reason why I give 1 star is because a horrible experience with the hygienist and her assistance. A hygienist poked my gums 3 TIMES to check the gum pocket size not because there was anything wrong with my teeth or gum but because between the hygienist and the assistance, they couldn't coordinate and figure out which tooth was what. And they didn't even apologized to me. instead they both were trying to tell me this was normal and the pain when the gums are poked is normal. SERIOUSLY? I have been doing regular dental cleaning for over 2 decades and 1. poking my gums 3 times 2. healthy gums feeling pain when it's been poked never ever happened anywhere else. I'm a real live person, not a medical dummy. How would you have felt if your gums are poked 3 times and told it's normal and should hurt? To clarify, my hygiene was good so i just needed a regular cleaning. my gums didn't bleed and there are no other issues to prove i went in with healthy gum to begin with. If they didn't argue with me, i wouldn't have left this review as I don't usually post reviews. But I suggest the dentist office pay attention to this review and train your staff on how to deal with conflict situations better with your patients. Unless their attitudes are corrected, I will NEVER recommend this office to any of my friends and family and definitely will not go back myself. Today was my first time here, I had a cleaning/exam done and Nee is an outstanding, excellent hygienist. She was so thorough and explained well what was going on with my teeth, and even taught me a better technique to use when brushing them. Also the numbing cream they used is the best out of any cleaning I've had elsewhere (I get bothered by the sharp instrument, but this was the least discomfort/pain I ever had in a cleaning). I liked the dentist too, but it's a name that starts with an "R", not the same name as I'm seeing in other reviews, maybe there's more than one there. She was very pleasant and made me feel at ease. I might be moving out of state, and if it weren't for that, I'd probably be making them my regular dentist. read more

I'm not one to leave a bad review and damage someone's business but Legacy Trails Dental is by far the WORST dentist experience I have ever had. I purchased a basic cleaning on Groupon for 40 dollars and drove over an hour to get to the office. I had a few dentists at the office check my teeth - all of which made me feel horrible about my teeth. I regularly get cleanings twice a year and was accused of not doing so by the dentist. Every person I spoke to was incredibly rude, if you are afraid of going to the dentist and are worried of a dentist charging you for treatment you don't need don't go to this office! I just wanted a basic cleaning and I was then informed that they could not redeem the Groupon I already paid for because I needed a deep cleaning which was 800 dollars. I told the dentist over and over again I could not afford this treatment and wanted a 2nd opinion and was forced to listen to the dentist tell me how terrible my teeth were for over an hour. It was truly a miserable experience. In addition to this, it was incredibly painful when she was checking my gums. This office is the epitome of dental care in America, they refuse to give you basic treatment and just want to make money off of vulnerable people. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! read more

From the time the phone was answered the service was amazing I had a major issue and the gave me the first available appointment. Wait I didn't mention the most important part that I hate the dentist and they were very accommodating ask if I was alright a 100 times through the process. Okay so just moved from California and I hadn't been to the dentist in over 6 years..and of course randomly I have the worst tooth pain. I was worried because our insurance didn't switch over for a few more weeks and it was going to be so expensive.. all worries we're put to rest when I went here. I had been experiencing so much dental pain due to a dentist who had done a negligent job with my fillings. I went to see Dr. Crespo and she did an AMAZING job! She was gentle and adamant in making sure I was comfortable during and after my treatment. For the first time in almost two years I have been able to chew my food without pain or sensitivity!! It's the best feeling to be able to comfortably eat after experiencing issues for that long. Her staff is really friendly and knowledgeable, and they hands down have the most relaxing view to look at during your visit. I'd highly recommend her to anyone looking for a Dentist in the area.
