And I mean, I've run the full gambit. I've tried doing it myself (twice failed, and the documents, unless you know the exact context, WILL have you fail, as one error throughs all your work into disarray), tried online divorce websites (failed), help with a friend (as you expected, failed). About 6 years ago Leag Action Workshop did a good job on a divorce contract for me when I wanted to avoid getting into a legal battle and just wanted to have a simple straightforward contract for a very affordable price. This year I got some questions regarding this contract when I wanted to list my house for sale. They were helpful and willing to answer quite a few calls, address my concerns, and fix any issues. So I have nothing but good things to say about the quality of their work and fair price structure. On the "room-for-improvement' side I am not so surprised to see a few reviews complaining about their customer service. When I first called, I got a sense of irritation and impatience when raising my concerns about the contract. It turns out that I wasn't wrong because 3 title companies raised the same concerns later. I will start by saying that I am not currently a client. The reason for that is the fact that Attorney Drucker cared enough to direct me somewhere else when he thought my case required special attention. He took the time to sit and speak with me at length regarding my case, my options, and his recommendations. In the end I would say we spoke for close to an hour. When we were finished, the first thing he said was that he would not charge me for the consultation. So he turned away my business for now out of honesty, compassion, and the integrity to send someone elsewhere if he thinks they would benefit from it. Then he refused to take any money for the time he spent. On top of it all, it was Attorney Drucker's advice and ideas that sparked the flame that ended up putting me in a much more advantageous position for my case. What can I say? I was referred here by a co-worker who said they made his divorce super easy. After I unsuccessfully tried to do mine myself, I contacted them. Now, my divorce was super simple- we had not a dime to split between us, and by the time I contacted Legal Action Workshop, we had been married for almost 4 years, but separated for almost 2 1/2 years. So needless to say, I just wanted this done as quickly as possible, as I was engaged and wanted to start planning my wedding. I live in long beach, and I never had to step foot in the office. Ok. So I just phoned to make a simple inquiry, asking if Legal Action Work Shop could "prepare documents for a bankruptcy". I had a real problem trying to get my Real ID. The name on my birth certificate was different than the name on my marriage license. Awful, a waste of time, money, and energy. I ordered a name change, they took $500 to fill out a voucher for $500 from the court, and did nothing else. After bleeding me dry, they asked for more money for more weak service. When I refused, they lied to me, and tried to swindle me. Every mistake they made, they profusely blamed me for. They misspelled my name, and 'conveniently forgot' to send important information. Everyone working there was rude over the phone, constantly belittling and taking over me to get effortless points across. I signed up & paid LAW $849 for a true Non Contested Dissolution. I explained to them my wife is currently living oversea. I was assured that they will take care of all paper work including mailing process. The first session with the in house lawyer was included. The attorney simply repeated how much the fee would be & the process for the case, nothing new. After the the Petition was sent back from court. The secretary said she has to consult the attorney for the best way to "Serve" the Petition oversea. Two weeks later I contacted LAW, they asked me to purchase an Agreement for another $500, the secretary didn't even try to explain what exactly the Agreement was & she has been sitting on the Petition for two weeks. Furthermore, they do not send any document oversea as promised at the beginning. The secretary even sent me a nasty e mail : "I do not need you to instruct me what to do, I know how to do my job". I decided to discontinue their service after wasted almost two month of my time. My common sense told me no good result would produced from working with such people. If any one decided to use LAW for the simple low cost divorce, my advice is don't, save your self some grief & $849. What you will get is a rude & unprofessional secretary who works against you instead of with you. According to the review, the firm has a very good rating on the in house attorneys for the divorce. That may as well be, but my experience for the low cost "Work Shop" was far below average, I basically paid them $849 to file a petition, which I could have done on my own easily for a few bucks. I consider this an expensive learning experience for myself, hopefully others could avoid such hassle after they read my review. read more

Stay away from this Attorney! He bullies the clients and tries to intimidate them with his approach. He's thin skinned. When his office drops the ball or makes a mistake, instead of owning it, Stephen Drucker and his wife Brenda make excuses, e.g. they say it's because they have a lot of cases, it's unfortunate or no one told them. He knows the law, but he cannot be trusted with the minutia. This attorney treats his clients like they work for him instead of him working for you. If you push back, challenge him or ask a difficult question, he threatens to resign or be subbed out, in other words he can't accept being wrong or criticized. The only redeeming quality this attorney has that I believe has kept him in business for so long at this location is that he is an honest man, except when it comes to taking responsibility for mistakes. Also, he wants to do all the talking and not listen during the consultation, frequently talking over the client. If you call, he will take your call, but will give you a rushed answer and make you feel you are disturbing him. At $350 an hour, I absolutely want to feel like my attorney is working for me and not treating me like he's doing me a favor! read more

I sought out this specific legal service, to assist with an easy dissolution of marriage. They prepared the paperwork mediocre (still had to be corrected when I filed), they misquoted the court fees, which after paying them $999.00, was another strain in my family's pocket. They were terrible with making sure the client had all the information before completing certain actions. The paperwork was not filled out correctly, also when I had to have additional orders served, they did not prior send the blank forms that also needed to be sent, which I had to fix and barely caught. The last straw was that I was contacted about having one of the lawyers appear in court with me for one day, of which I was told by the aide that the lawyers were on vacation and she would contact me after they got back to work out the details of who would represent me. After gathering the $1200.00, they called me back a few days later (13 days before my appearance date!) to tell me that no one could come to my appearance! Then they had to nerve to tell me to search "lawyers.com"! Actually it is a blessing as I am already regretful they received any money from me already. Not to forget to mention, the lawyer I spoke quite rudely, not that I need, desire, or expect a person to sugar-coat anything, but I am amazed at persons who think they are "professional" but lack simple customer-service skills. Unprofessional, unorganized, and terrible business practices is what the Legal Action Workshop has displayed to me to be their MO. They give law professionals a bad rep. Would not recommend them to anyone and will never utilize their services again. UPDATE 2: A representative called back to try and convince me of what services I needed, without any knowledge of to what the opposing party is doing. Point is if you offer a service, it is not professional to go back on your word. Don't offer services that you are not willing to complete. I have since found another service who had no problem providing me with the service. I do not like to write negative reviews but I am disappointed to say the least.This is my second review. First off, the name change was not a problem the many problems that was stated. Your questionnaire states "Name change for wife (this can only be done if the wife is the petitioner...I am the respondent to the dissolution, if it did not matter then it should have just asked if the wife desires her name to be changed). Ana called on the phone and asked me if I wanted to change my name, I said yes and she said it was no problem and that you all would do it for me. I never changed my mind. Secondly, I understand the difference between a temporary spousal support order and actual trial once the divorce begins. Secondly, I was told to just show up to Family court where I would appear before a judge for a court fee waiver. That was misinformation as when I went down there, there is actually a pre-hearing before you appear before the judge who grants the fee waiver. All courts do not work the same, but yet this I dealt with. The next issue was that there was a box that was not properly marked in the response paperwork that the court clerk caught, that should have been caught beforehand. Furthermore, the court when giving me paperwork that needed to be served did not give me blank forms. It would have been a good idea to send a checklist to me of what forms I should have received from them or what I would required BEFOREHAND. Ana did request that I call her when I with clerk, but there is a strict no cell phone policy. I did however contact Ana after all court and major processes. Only after I had contacted and rushed the serve did Ana call back stating that I needed to serve blank response copies. As a consumer and client who paid for legal services I am the one who is surprised that a business would conduct itself in this fashion. I was not thoroughly informed just given approximations with incorrect information. Furthermore, I was not even prepped for my hearing. My biggest issue, is that I was contacted asking if I wanted an attorney for the hearing, of which I stated yes, because the petitioner (highly possible) is going to have one present, I was told by Ana to let the office know, I managed to gather the funds and was told that the lawyers were on vacation and would be back on said day and that I would be called back with the information regarding who was going to attend my hearing. I am very disappointed to have received a call stating that I could not be represented. No matter the reason, if this was never an option it should have never been offered. If the shoe was on the other foot (if I stated I was going to pay you for your services and did not, you surely would not have assisted me at all), "the golden rule" was neglected. When receiving a follow up call (RE review), I was dismissed off the phone by an "angrier-than I-Brenda". Bottom line, I was lied to. I appreciate what was done and good luck on your future endeavors. read more
