I reached out to Anthony, and unfortunately, I regret using his company. Looking back, I should have listened to the three red flags I noticed, but I moved forward out of desperation. Red Flag #1: I requested to see a single printed copy before all programs were printed. Anthony said that would not be possible, even though I was willing to meet him anywhere at his convenience. Red Flag #2: I asked for a specific delivery time. He said he could only guarantee the programs would arrive before the funeral service, but could not provide any further details. Red Flag #3: I asked if I could pay a portion upfront and the remainder upon receiving the programs. He required full payment before printing. Anthony did deliver the programs before the service, but the quality was very poor. Although the paper weight was what we discussed (still thinner than expected), the bigger issue was the print quality. The images I sent were full-bleed (printed to the edges), but the programs I received had white borders around them, and the print quality looked like something produced on a home printer. In my discussion with Anthony regarding my dissatisfaction with my order, he mentioned sending me pictures of previous work, but there was no way for me to know my programs would have borders when the original files I provided did not, nor that the print quality would be so disappointing. Thankfully, I also ordered another set of programs from an online company. They charged me less, delivered within 48 hours, used glossy cardstock, and provided a proof before payment so I could see exactly what the finished product would look like. Using Keepsake Memories/Anthony was a mistake. I'm sharing this so others understand what they may be getting into when working with Keepsake Memories, especially during a vulnerable time when families are grieving and under pressure.

After my mother's funeral service, Ms. Sherman was kind enough to hold my hand through the final goodbye before my mother's body went off to the crematorium. Ms. Sherman still responded promptly several months later when I needed other city paperwork for my mother's cremains to travel. What I love about her is that she is the consummate professional from A-Z in all her communications. Her colleagues were also quite supportive and helpful. Now that I know what a funeral director actually does, I highly recommend using the services of Jacqueline Sherman at Frank R. Bell Funeral Home. She is worth waiting for when you see how she presents the process and the services she and her colleagues can offer to meet your needs. I was insistent and he relented. When the bottom of the casket was opened I was horrified to see my Mother's stockings pulled only half way to her calf. I was completely overwhelmed and distraught by the treatment Marine Park Funeral Home displayed toward my Mother. I believe it was because our funds were limited. Recently, I lost my mother. I was still traumatized by the funeral service I had 25 years earlier…read moreat the Jeremiah C. Gaffney funeral home and vowed to never make the same mistake. I have no idea if the same people run this service but I finally have an outlet to say my piece and hopefully let this go. I was six months pregnant when my baby brother died under suspicious conditions. He was 21 years old. Jeremiah Gaffney himself came to my home and assured me that he would handle all the particulars of this funeral and I would not have to worry. He also told me he would take pictures of my brothers body to prove that there were no injuries that caused his death. He claimed if he had been punched or hit with an object, blood would Pool on that location and he would be able to see it when he viewed the body. Our biggest concern was that we were Catholic and we didn't own a plot. And we were scared of the expense. We were not financially prepared for the finances of a funeral. He claimed he searched high and low and offered us one choice, claiming that we would otherwise have to go to New Jersey to be within a price pint he was offering. This was 1995 and we paid $2200 for a mausoleum is Long Island. We lived in Brooklyn. Having no experience, this seemed reasonable. Then the funeral happened. First, we asked to have the funeral near our home so he made arrangements with a nearby funeral home. Thank God we did that because his service never picked us up to go to the home. We walked each day and night. Second, the limousines had no shocks. We bounced and had the most uncomfortable ride ever. But what was most disheartening was he never told our priest that we were in the funeral home next door. So the priest never arrived to do the service at the funeral home, devastating my mother. The priest had traveled all the way to Inwood (I thought it was Far Rockaway) to find that no service was taking place and arrived back at his church too late to perform the service at my brother's coffin. It was one debacle after another. There was no coffin plaque, there was no cross. Also, we had to request the prayer cards be placed out and I understand they were rude to the owners of the actual funeral home we were renting. After my brother was buried, these items arrived bent. And we had two BLACK polaroids presumably of my brother's body. I was so ashamed that I had failed my mother and brother in all of these ways. The funeral was all paid in cash as was required. I have gone to bed for a long time hating this man for the shit show that was my brother's funeral. As a Catholic family, these what might be seen as little problems, mattered immensely. They were integral to our faith. I was further reminded of my brother's funeral in burying my mother. This time, I was had the financial means to do whatever I wanted. But what was most jarring was I was given a list of cemeteries all over Queens, Brooklyn and Long Island that had plot price points starting at $1000. We visited St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale, LI where I was shown perfectly fine resting places for $1000. I asked was this cemetery here in 1995 and the consultant was like Yes, of course. I was reminded of the pain my mother went to the grave, knowing her son was not put into the ground as she had believed would return him to heaven all those years ago. I will never understand why this man duped me into purchasing a mausoleum that he led me to believe was a godsend find all those years ago for more than double than prices in 2017. This man is the most dishonest person I had ever dealt with, taking advantage of a pregnant woman who had suddenly lost her closest friend. The person who had recommended him to me was my family's close friend and a mentor for me. I never forgave him, nor talked to him again after my brother's funeral. He died without knowing why I ended all contact with him. I will now go through the expense of moving my brother's body so he could be near my mother's body at St. Charles Cemetery. Perhaps the young boys he had standing in the January cold all those years ago are now grown men who have taken over their father's business. I will never forget my mother being upset at her own son's funeral as she begged this man to put coats on them because it was unbearable for her to watch them shaking in the January sun zero temperatures and he refused rather than help my mother feel at ease. My mother nested these boys in her coat instead.
