I visited the bar at the Legasea restaurant located at the Moxy Time Square this evening, 7/13. Overall experience was great. I arrived around 8pm, staff were warm and welcoming and food was fantastic. That experience shifted once the GM Todd showed up an hour later. He began chastising the bartenders about "pre cleaning" bottles prior to closing and that the focus should be on the customers, this went on for over 15 minutes which directly impacted my customer experience. I was seated at the end of the bar where he was speaking to staff so I was in clear earshot of what was said. There was no hesitation to callout staff in front of customers. This is unacceptable for someone in his position. How management treats their staff speaks volumes than a bartender wiping bottles down. A healthy work environment work environment where management and staff can have productive respectful conversation leads to a better overall dining experience for the customer. read more

We dined at Legasea yesterday and left impressed by the food, but with mixed feelings about the service. The food was outstanding from beginning to end. Every dish was beautifully plated, fresh, and packed with flavor. The tuna tartare was bright and refreshing, the chopped salad was colorful and full of texture, the beignet was perfectly , the fish entrée was moist with a rich, buttery sauce, the burger was juicy with excellent fries, and the chocolate layer cake was the perfect finish. Even the cocktail was balanced, refreshing, and beautifully presented. Unfortunately, the service didn't quite match the quality of the cuisine. Our waitress seemed to be in a hurry from the moment she approached the table. When we asked questions about the menu, she frequently had to look down at her notes and wasn't able to confidently explain the dishes or make recommendations. Rather than creating a welcoming dining experience, she mainly functioned as an order taker. In contrast, the bussers and food runners were exceptional. They were attentive throughout the meal, constantly refilling our water glasses, clearing plates promptly, and checking in at the right moments. Their friendliness and professionalism made a noticeable difference. I also noticed two gentlemen, including an Asian gentleman, walking through the dining room, interacting with the staff and checking in with them throughout the service. If they were managers or supervisors, I would have appreciated seeing a bit more engagement with guests--simply stopping by tables to ask how everything was going would have elevated the overall hospitality and helped identify opportunities to improve the service experience. As a guest at the Moxy, I figured I had to try Legasea Bar & Grill. I'm glad I did. There were plenty of tempting options on the menu, but I went with one of my favorite tests for any bar and grill: the burger and fries. If a restaurant can get the basics right, it's usually a good sign. Legasea passed with flying colors. The burger was cooked perfectly, somewhere between medium-rare and medium, juicy and full of flavor. The fries were equally impressive, with just the right amount of crunch. It's a simple meal, but when it's done this well, there's a reason it's a classic. The restaurant itself has a bit of a "Cheers" vibe. It's lively without being overwhelming and feels like the kind of place where locals and visitors alike can settle in for a good meal and conversation. The service was also outstanding. My server was personable, entertaining, and seemed genuinely invested in making sure I had a great experience. They checked in often without ever feeling intrusive. Will I be back? Absolutely. We made last minute reservation because we were craving steak. What grabbed our attention was that they offer all you can eat ribeye and fries. Very sad to give a two star review for Legasea. My partner and I went to Legasea shortly after a Rangers vs Sharks game over at MSG. We were excited to have some steak fries after a long day. The service and the really friendly waiter is the only reason why I gave two stars. However, the quality of the steak and fries really went down hill from the last time we went here... Many of the fries were burnt, and the quality of the meat was extremely rubbery. Many small shards of the meat were stuck in our teeth uncomfortably, and we both seriously needed to do extensive flossing shortly after we arrived back home. Came to Legasea to try out the all you can eat but I realized thats only on specific days. So I ended up doing apps and drinks by the bar. The bartender made excellent drinks! I mean 10/10 make sure you try the NSFW lol. The ambiance was nice chill and casual. I came in the early afternoon so it wasn't crowded my friend and I did some apps. The Korean wings are a must try as well as the truffle fries sooo good. And if you're into calamari I would highly recommend ordering hot fresh crispy and tasty. Finally made my way to Legasea. Since we knew we were doing the AYCE we made sure to have a light lunch. We didn't have a reservation but were sat immediately thankfully. The service was good and they definitely keep the state and fries coming. I wasn't the biggest fan of the fries and even preferred the side of broccoli over them. The steak was great and cooked to temp but by the second round was cold. Cold red meat isn't the tastiest... once we let our server know we got a new order of warm steak but the ick had already set in. We tried their fancy nuggets: delicious. Met up with my visiting relatives for a bite on a Saturday night. The atmosphere was very lively and even though it was a pretty busy night (I think Santa-Con was going on), our server was super attentive and efficient. We got the truffle arincini rice balls, Korean wings and shrimp gyoza as appetizers and all were delicious. Portions were delicate but flavor was great. As a side note, I could have ate 12 of the arincini and been very happy but decorum prevented LOL. This is part of the Tao restaurant line and it didn't disappoint. Cute little photo pop ups throughout the hotel also made this a great experience. I had the ribeye which was delicious and a large portion. My dining companions got the branzino, which was delicious, and the lobster pasta which was outstanding! The lobster pasta was served inside the shelled lobster which made for a beautiful presentation. Sadly, we were too full for dessert but I had my eye on the strawberry shortcake and will start with that next time! We had great service on a really busy holiday night, which is rare these days. I happened to be in the city on Friday, June 10, so I decided to stop by. I sat at the bar, and there were only two other guests there. Unfortunately, the service was disappointing from the moment I arrived. The bartender never greeted me. I had to ask for a menu, and I also had to ask for the happy hour menu, even though happy hour was being promoted outside the restaurant. He never offered me water or asked if I wanted anything to drink, which made me lose interest in ordering food because of the lack of hospitality. While I was there, the customer sitting next to me ordered the chicken parmesan and was upset that it didn't come with pasta. The bartender had never mentioned that when he placed the order. Instead of addressing the concern professionally, he came across as dismissive. I also watched the bartender place the All Day Friday Lobster Spaghetti promotional menus out after a certain point during service. When the customer asked why he hadn't been told about that promotion instead, the bartender was again dismissive, despite the fact that I had personally seen him put those promotional menus out. The experience lacked the basic level of hospitality and attentiveness that guests should expect. Simple gestures like greeting customers, offering water, explaining menu items and promotions, and responding respectfully to guest concerns make a significant difference in the overall dining experience. read more

I came here on my birthday with relatives and it was a nice experience but nothing super special. I started off with a FOXY MOXY cocktail that was pretty sweet and did not have an alcoholic taste at all, but as I drank it, it got super strong near the end. We ordered the spicy crab beignets that were kinda bland and plain, the bread was overpoweringly mediocre. The main course, one pound lobster spaghetti, was good. It was creamy but not super flavorful. I think I enjoyed the thick cut bacon the most. It had this smokey burnt flavor which shocked me because I was never a fan of bacon but the flavor was like bbq. It was fatty but not too much and kinda salty. The 8 oz filet mignon was eh. Maybe too chewy for me. Since this place is a couple of blocks from Penn Station and popular on social media, a reservation is recommended if you don't want to be standing and waiting. Now for the food which is the star of the show. Their popularity is the all you can east steak and fries for $55. Regular order is $45. There are some fine print. If one person orders all you can eat, then all parties are charged $55. No matter how many steaks you eat. I saw people coming and ordering the all you can eat and just ordering one steak to share. Didn't read the fine print...LOL The other gimmick are the fries. The steak comes with fries, which are very tasty and filling. The steak itself is a 14oz ribeye, they season it and cook it to perfection. The steak was delicious and even though they provided sauces, non were required. One of the best steaks I have eaten and the price just made it even better. Now for some not so great things. They has a margarita, on the menu, which I wanted to get extra spicy. The waiter said they were pre mixed and couldn't be adjusted. I asked them to put some extra jalapeños in it, I was told the bar didn't have any. Ordered a different cocktail, it was good. Had two appetizers, the crunchy cucumber salad which very good and fried calamari which was also good and tasted fresh not frozen. The bad part was the $22 price for an appetizer, Overall a great experience and the steak was top notch. Finally tried Legasea went on a Monday and they had their unlimited steak fries & salad. Everything was tasty. I'm not a huge steak or French fry person but I do eat it and it was really good. The steak was well done (argue with someone else) but the taste was amazing. The fries were crispy so good. The salad was really good too, I didn't think it was going to like it because it was mainly lettuce but the dressing really made up for it. We had the strawberry shortcake that was really good & of course the presentation is too. The waitress Cora was nice to us. The restaurant is nice and they kept coming back with the steak & fries. Bang for your buck = 5 stars. The ribeye was good. I was bracing myself due to bad reviews and was pleasantly surprised. Obviously come on a Sunday or Monday to get the AYCE ribeye deal for $49. So good. All the reservation slots were available the same morning so we ended up booking one to be safe. I think it is a good idea to do that because even though I saw all the slots available online, the restaurant was packed when I got there! We had to wait almost 30 minutes for our table even though we had a reservation, but I had a great time after seating that I'm still giving them 5 stars. So because you prepay for the meal when you make the reservation, once you sit down the food can immediately start coming out and you're eating right away. If you order any drinks or dessert or anything additional then you'll have to get another check. Their service is really fast. Everything comes out family style, and if you want a refill (there's a little paper you prop up on the table), it literally comes so fast!! The salad was great, the ribeye was great, and the french fries will great. I will say the ribeye was inconsistent as in we only wanted medium rare but sometimes it would come more medium and sometimes more rare.
