Friendly bartenders and awesome happy hour from 11am to 8pm daily. The perfect location to enjoy some drinks and snacks before a show. We savored our $7 glasses of wine and the Jane Doe salad with candied walnuts, cranberries, and balsamic dressing. The bar was decked out in decorative faux flowers which was perfect for spring. It seemed like a fun mix of tourists and locals here, and an overall great time.

This was definitely a hidden gem. Happy hour from 11 am to 8 pm?!?! A classy and modern vibe that is cozy. Our server was nice and it look like she was the only one serving and bartending when we got there when it open. Mussels were great but a little small and the garlic sauce was flavorful but not enough for dipping the bread. $1 oysters!! They were nice and plump. I definitely recommend the Jane Doe salad had a sweet and salty balance with the walnuts, apple and blue cheese.

Another delicious lunch here. Happy Hour offers $1 oysters, discounted wine and cocktails and freshly prepared and flavorful food specials. The oysters are always outstanding - fresh. perfectly shucked and beautifully presented. We shared a dozen. For the meal, we loved the French Onion soup! The bowls are filled with savory broth, a crouton and perfectly caramelized onions, covered with a slice of molten cheese lightly charred at the edges, and as if that's not enough, there's a fistful of fried onions to top this all off! Then the Honey had the chicken club sandwich with a salad instead of the French fries, I had the Irish Sausage Sandwich, one of the day's lunch specials. Both dishes were very good! Today's experience was made even better by the patient, efficient and knowledgeable server - Laura. She was very attentive and helpful throughout. We will definitely be back!

Came for girls night looking for a spot to grab drinks and a chill meal. Jane Doe delivered! Located smack dab in the center of midtown a couple blocks up from Bryant Park, I was glad to find it nice and toasty inside on an evening where it was feeling -15 degrees F outside. Right inside is the bar, with about a dozen seats along it and scattered around the front next to the windows and left wall. Standing room available and there were a few TVs in the bar area and a few more in the back seating area. My friend made reservations for 6:30pm and it was pretty busy even with the weather so recommend making them if you're coming around peak dinner time. Staff were quick to acknowledge us at the table and brought menus, gave us time to check them out and then took drink and app orders expeditiously. They also checked in periodically on our meal. We got to drink: - Winter Dayz $16: my friend got this and didn't particularly like it. I wondered if the ratio of pomegranate, lemon juice and simple syrup were balanced with the raspberry vodka. - Pornstar Martini $10: Friday night is pornstar martini specials night! My friend enjoyed hers. - A Twist on a Spritz $16: this was ok though I have to say I didn't taste much elderflower for having both elderflower rose gin and St. Germaine. Eats: - Spinach and artichoke dip $19: I didn't try this though my friends enjoyed! Ample pieces of pita to scoop up the hearty dip. Topped with melted Gruyère like French onion soup. - Happy hour oysters $1 each: fresh, briny great with a dab of horseradish or vinegar with a squeeze of lemon. - Shortrib potato croquettes $21 for 3 balls: very good, crispy on the outside, pillowy mashed potatoes, tender juicy shortrib inside. - Reuben sandwich $19: served with fries or salad, my friend enjoyed this, good sized sandwich and tasty and fresh salad! - Jane Doe burger $20: I got this and was overall satisfied, the patty was a perfect medium rare like I requested. Fair-sized burger I was very full afterwards! Same fries or salad and I chose the latter. The only thing was there was a little gristle ground into the meat and I kept noticing bits as I was chewing (and kinda had to spit them out). - Salmon scampi $33: served with fluffy mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach. Solid take and nicely sized portion. Solid spot to come back again. Will make plans to come for happy hour and try their daily specials for sure!

Recently visited Jane Doe with a reservation--which is definitely necessary since the space is small and extremely busy. I ordered the Short Rib Mac and Cheese and the octopus. When the Mac and Cheese arrived, I initially thought the portion looked too small, but it was packed with short rib and surprisingly filling. I couldn't even finish it. The restaurant was decorated nicely for the holidays, which added a warm touch. However, the bar area had a noticeably sour smell, likely from the crowd, and the bathroom was unfortunately disgusting--the toilet was full of toilet paper and feces. To make matters worse, there's only one restroom available.

After the tacky $100 bus ride call Tea Around Town and extensive walk at Bryant Park, we ended up here. It's has great drinks, happy hour and looks like yummy food. This is where we ended our birthday celebration.

Came here on a whim as we saw the sign advertising $1 oysters. We were conveniently staying at the hotel across the street, so after checking in, we walked over here to get some food. What a great find! We both had their delicious cream of mushroom soup, followed by oysters which were heavenly. We loved the vinaigrette and cocktail sauce it came with. This was probably one of my favorite meals that we've ever had in the city just for simplicity and it didnt cost a small fortune. If you love oysters, you must go here! The inside is quaint and very nicely decorated. Service was friendly. We don't drink but we noticed that the drink prices weren't insanely overpriced either.

This is amazingminute so and a lucky find! Super cute, festive and the food is great!! The happy hour is 11-8pm during the week. The croquettes and the Oysters ($1) are AMAZING!!! Our bartender Suzanne was the greatest!!!!! So sweet & attentive!!!!!

Came here for happy hour with a few friends. The happy hour deal is great, and lasts a long time. We had some vodka sodas and tried some of the happy hour appetizers. They can really bit hit or miss. The pizza was AWFUL. It was basically like eating cardboard. The tacos were pretty good! The nachos were also really good. The place was packed, but the service was pretty good all things considered. They were very friendly and nice. The place itself is TERRIBLE for talking to your friends. We were sitting at a table and we could literally not hear a thing. I think there is some kind of sound tunnel where all the noise is funneled into the center of that room. The person next to me was screaming in my ear and I could barely hear them. All those things factored together, would make me not recommend this place for more than just a quick drink.

Honestly, such a good time every time I come for happy hour. They have a happy hour every day until 8 PM! One dollar oysters, in this economy? Signed me up! They have a $7 white, red, and rosé , $10 well drink cocktails, and beers on happy hour. With each weekday having its own special specials.

If I could give this place 6 stars I would! I held a small post-work event with 10+ colleagues the other day. Everyone had a fantastic time! First, while this Irish restaurant/bar is on the small side, it's super cozy and decorated beautifully- very warm and inviting. It's ideally located close to all modes of transportation in a prime Midtown location. The manager (I think?), Sharon, was beyond helpful when I walked in and made the reservation the week before. It was a pleasure dealing with her. The cocktails were delicious and reasonably priced, and it's nice that they have a happy hour menu with a decent amount of options as well. Even their main menu has many options at affordable prices - a major plus in today's economy. The bartender (not sure of her name, but she was blondish with long hair) was friendly and accommodating. Even the other patrons were pleasant (which doesn't always happen)! I passed this place on the way to work for the past few years and have been curious about it the entire time. I'm so glad I decided to inquire for the event. Even my colleagues asked why we never came here before. I think we have a new "go to" spot! I'll definitely be back!

Came across this restaurant while walking around Times Square and saw the $1 oysters sign with purchase of a drink. Decided to go in and check it out since the reviews looked good as well. The bar is located at the front and there were a few people sitting around it at the time we walked in on a late Sunday night. The bartender asked us if we wanted to sit at the bar or in the lounge in the back which had no one. Of course, we chose the lounge! The lounge looks very classy with its royal blue sofas and dark brown wooden tables and walls. We ordered a cranberry Apple Mule, a dozen raw oysters, shrimp tacos and short rib potato Croquettes. The cranberry Apple Mule was sparkling so refreshing but a bit on the bitter side for me. The oysters were big and came with a cocktail sauce and a vinegar sauce as well as a bag of oysters crackers which I prefer with clam chowder. The shrimp tacos were delicious. The tortilla was not bland or stale. The shrimp was fresh. And the guacamole, salsa, and everything on top made it a perfect bite! The short rib potato Croquettes were amazing! Crispy outside and soft inside. Strong short rib flavor with the lighter potato flavor. The meat balances the carbs. Very cute place! Definitely recommend coming during happy hour or even a late night dinner. The restaurant looks like it is part of a hotel but it was not busy at all.

What time are $1 oysters available?

We happened to be there on a Sunday while the sign was up outside reading the $1 oyster happy hour. I would call Jane Doe ahead and ask them when this offer happens. Definitely a great deal.

I was warmly greeted by the gentleman at the door (5 service there), which set a great first impression. However, as soon as I walked downstairs, it felt like the space had lost its speakeasy vibe. I was seated right near the stairs and could feel cold air from outside every time the door opened, which made the experience uncomfortable. I was also surprised to see how much the cocktail menu had been reduced. When I asked about it, the response was that "the place changed a lot." That's fair -- places evolve -- but instead of highlighting the improvements or new strengths, the explanation focused negatively on what the bar used to be. As someone who really enjoyed the former version, that wasn't reassuring. Unfortunately, the drinks themselves didn't make up for it. One of the two cocktails was simply not good. No one came back to check on the drinks, and when I asked for the check after about 20 minutes, there was no acknowledgment that I had barely touched mine or any inquiry about my experience. Overall, a place I once enjoyed and recommended now feels more like a standard dive bar where " Mixologist " were replaced by bartender and were fun cool looking and tasty drinks were replaced by " less complex cocktail ", lacking the warmth and attention to detail that once made it special.

Easy to find if you know what you're looking for, if you arrive right at 5pm on a cold weeknight in the winter, you'll easily find a table or seat at the bar. Very cute space, cozy like everyone says, but nothing mind blowing. Music is moderately loud. The menu in early February still included their winter holiday cocktails. I was more interested in the apple sage house-made fermented soda, and it was pretty good-large glass, flavorful and not too sweet. My friend enjoyed her pomegranate version. The space started to fill up at around 5:30. Service was polite when you could get it, but generally very inattentive, even before it got busy. It honestly didn't feel too different from anu other very nice NYC bar, in terms of menu selection, prices, ambiance and service. Maybe that's standard for NYC speakeasies, but the places I frequented in other cities were more fun and felt more worth the price. I'll still give another NYC spot a try, but not coming back to Thyme.

The cocktail menu is very creative - I got one of their seasonal mixes that was actually two drinks in one. For drinks, we ordered the Smoke Show and the King Tusk. The Smoke Show was beautifully balanced. The Grey Goose vodka and Dolin Dry gave it that classic martini backbone, but the fino sherry and brine added depth. The smoked olive oil and blue cheese olive brought just enough savory drama without overpowering the glass. It was complex but not fussy. The King Tusk leaned more aromatic and layered. The vermouths gave it richness, while the Buddha's Hand and osmanthus flower added subtle citrus and floral notes that lingered in a really elegant way.
