This tiny café reminded me of the boho-esque holes in the wall that I used to frequent when I attended McGill in the early '80's. Small, hippie-ish, fresh pastries, good coffees, unpretentious vibe, small bistro tables and chairs outside. Nothing fancy, but clean and reliable. All that was missing were the op art posters on the walls. Service was quick. The two young adults behind the counter were efficient but not talkative. (I was surprised to read past reviews mentioning the friendly service. I don't think the guy or the girl behind the counter said two words to me). Oh well. I ordered a chicken ciabatta and a canned soda. I found the prices on a the higher side for what you get (my sandwich was $12.50). That said, the sandwich was fantastic: the bread was perfect, and the chicken and melted cheese were great, with a good ratio to the Dijon and other condiments, too. Just a fresh, delicious sandwich. Bathroom is small but clean and well stocked. Good little local go-to joint for a fast meal or coffee break.

I had looked at pictures of the menu on Google before coming in and was disappointed to see that there was no pasta on the menu. All of the bowl dishes were just rice bowls. However, when I actually arrived here in turned out that they do actually serve pasta which I was very much relieved to see. I had been wanting to try the Truffle oil pasta for awhile as I'd seen someone else order it at the Coquitlam location awhile back and it looked really good. I was this close to ordering that pasta but then my eye caught sight of the Plant Power Club sandwich which was made with Housemade Purple Yam Vegan Bread. Huh? Purple Yam Vegan Bread? That sounded so interesting. I didn't know Purple Yam Bread even existed. I wondered if it was typo, and whether they really meant that it was just regular bread with some purple yam sandwiched between the bread slices. After inquiring about it, I was informed that it was indeed a purple yam bread and that the color of the bread was purple. I had to satisfy my curiosity so I ended up ordering the Plant Power Club instead, along with a Strawberry Matcha Latte. That bright purple colour combined with all the colourful fillings of my sandwich...possibly the prettiest sandwich I've ever had. Very filling too. I ate both pieces and then I didn't have room for dinner later in the day. It was a tasty sandwich but not something I need to order again. While the bread was pretty, I didn't detect any special flavor from it. I will definitely be ordering the Truffle Oil pasta next time I go in. Loved my Strawberry Matcha Latte. I asked for it to be made less sweet , and it was very nicely done. There was a scheduled power outage that occurred while we were in the cafe. The lights and air conditioning went out for quite awhile, so someone came around and handed out $5 vouchers for us to use at our next visit. More incentive for me to come back and try that Truffle Oil pasta sometime!

Order and pay at the counter, they will bring the food over. The croissant was nice and flaky. The coffee was also good, not tart or acidic at all. The cream in coffee made it pretty smooth. What made it 5-star was the vibe and service/owner/customers. This place has the friendly neighborhood chill vibe where it is a cross between "Friends" and "Cheers". Shortly after I sat down, the cafe began to fill up. I saw a guy got up from his table to move to a smaller one when a bigger group came in on his own accord. He then told the group to take his table. The owner knows the regular customers by names and sight. The other regulars know each other as I saw people stopping at other tables greeting and chatting with each other. They even pulled up chairs and have an impromptu gabfest. They were not loud at all. What a nice thing to witness. Not a soulless cafe where customers are plugged into their laptops or with headphones. I will need to come back again to try the other stuff. Plus I'm pretty surprised at how good the regular coffee is. Most places' drip coffee has a sour/acidic aftertaste and this doesn't.

I ordered a hamburg steak teishoku and my boyfriend ordered the Hamburg steak curry. We were impressed by how the patty was flavorful, meaty, but neither greasy or heavy - signature of how it is in Japan. The curry was flavorful without being overly rich. The side pairings for the teishoku was perfect - a mini salad, side of pickled vegetables, rice, and miso soup. Very well balanced. Overall, super satisfied of this latest find. We need to come back to try some of the dessert offerings.

Comes wrapped in a thin omelette the old school way. They serve it with ketchup. Not much chicken in the chicken rice. Flavour was nice though. The side of hamburg steak was quite soft but flavourful. Did not taste like just beef - I suspect it was a mix of beef and pork. Also had a small side of salad. Overall pretty solid. 4/5. beef curry rice bowl - pretty good, the curry sauce was generous and not too salty. Served with the usual side of pickles. 4/5. Houjicha iced latte. Exactly as it sounds, and pretty good too. Very solid 4/5 overall. Weird location and I suspect they would be much busier with more visibility. There arent many places in town that serve this kind of food so there is opportunity for them to do well. Their food is pretty good, and a good approximation for the stuff you'd get in Japan at those western style chains that are so popular there. IYKYK. Pricing is high-ish but for this area it is not crazy. The beverages are $6-8 and the food runs about $20. I would come back if I had a craving for this type of food.

The menu is pretty straightforward, espresso drinks, teas and smoothies. Serving along side with baked goods, desserts and sandwiches. Are they a bit more pricy? Yes. But there really ain't much of a space that can provide a comfortable work/coffee situation in the area. And it isn't Starbucks. There is even a small private enclosed space for meeting that can hold up to 6 people comfortably. Otherwise there are a number of tables for groups of 4. There is street parking as well as side street parking, but they also seem to have parking behind the building. Staff are very friendly and quick when it comes to making drinks. They have free guest wifi and ask that only stay a maximum of 2 hours especially when it's busy. Overall a cute space serving some great drinks. They're even selling their own coffee beans! If you need to get work done or just catch up with a friend Kory's Coffee is a nice location.

I think it could use a bit more refinement. Powder wasn't fully dissolved, too much ice and sweetness level was very subtle. However, service was the best. Staffs were so friendly and provided a great service. I could not judge by only 1 drink. I will definitely revisit this place and will order more.
