Homemade passionfruit and pineapple mousse made in house. Perfect in every way.

If you are looking to have the best coffee you ever tasted in the most charming store in Vancouver, you have found it. My family found this hidden gem in the center of Kerrisdale, and if you love drinking coffee (not fake coffee like lattes and all that none sense but true black coffee) this place is a MUST. Beans are roasted and ground in-house and he is a master at his craft. Expect something closer to a afternoon tea vibe rather then a coffee shop like Timmies. 100% MUST go there if you live in the area, trust me it will change your life.

Lovely staff/owner. I appreciate how he told me he was not sure how to make a flat white. I rather order something else than to be disappointed by a not so good flat white. He seemed to know the various techniques of making Italian style coffee, so I decided on a cappuccino. Pretty art on the foam. While it was good, I felt the coffee itself was a bit on the thin/watery side. The place looked nice and there were not many dessert/baked stuff on display when I was there. A good place for a cup of tea or coffee in this neighborhood.

My review is on the Matcha Red Bean mousse. Not overly sweet, beautiful texture and with my first bite, I wanted more. Then, I thought...oooh! Wouldn't mind a whole cake next time. The red bean was whole but soft and the mousse were delectable. Amazing service. I love the little gift box style packaging.

Tl;dr - Would recommend small groups (2-4 people). Definitely get the Jasmine Iced Coffee (very unique), and their pastries are the perfect dessert after lunch/dinner at Ajisai. Highly recommend Macadamia Tart and Matcha & Red Bean Waffles! First time to BC and it was a goal of mine to try as many coffee shops as I can. Would say La Cuisson ranked #1 out of the 5, mainly for their extensive knowledge in coffee and homemade desserts. Ordered for 2 people: Jasmine Iced Coffee Syphon Coffee Macadamia Tart 3 Macarons (SOO SMOOTH) Matcha & Red Bean Waffles Ambiance/Decor: Clean, pretty-looking.

La Cuisson Café was located at Union Square, Richmond for long time and they have been moved to Kerrisdale almost 2 years. The coffee shop was much bigger than previous location and the décor look extraordinary still... They sever the medium to fine coffee (such as Blue Mountain and Kopi luwak/civet coffee) and home-made desserts natural ingredients, no chemical involved. I would say the best coffee experience you can find it here... Fine/Siphon is so good. My mom had Blueberry yogurt tea + mini pecan tart, the first zip I tasted a bit sour of yogurt and blueberry flavour. Taste funny... but, my mom loved it. I had Royal coffee + chocolate cake, I loved cognac+ coffee+ brown sugar when it served and burnt it up the cognac. So cool! The chocolate cake pretty good and light. If you want to treat yourself for fine coffee, this is a right place to go. Just don't let price scare you away...

I found this hidden jem by chance after I had sushi dinner next door. This was a really great surprise for me. The interior looks great with a relaxing atmosphere with chic furniture and so on. It is particularly worth noting that they care for the coffee they make, and their coffee was exquisite. Servers and a guy that seemed to be the owner here were very nice and tried to help us have a great time with their coffee. This is a place for people who love coffee and also for those who love to have happy time with somebody you cherish. Quality coffee and service. Will definitely come back.

this place totally reminds me of cafe savoureux in richmond, with the try-hard vintage ~classy~ style they try to pull, and the presentation of desserts (lol) i ordered the trianon cake (or royal chocolate cake), which is a rich chocolate mousse topped on a thin layer of sponge, then a crispy praline. i like that it isnt overly sweet. as for the tea, its served on a pot over a burner. nice! the server coming to offer a hot water refill is a thumbs-up. teacups are genuine royal albert (although theyre a bit worn out). the waffle plates are pretty pricey (im comparing to beard papas) but the portions are huge so come with a friend. overall not bad! good place to sit down and chat.

The chili-lime tofu, my go-to, is grilled fresh and juicy with a tangy marinade. I find these bowls very filling, but the price adds up quickly as you add more salad scoops, so I find it best to be conservative with my estimate of how much I think I need to eat. Besides the salad bowls, they have some hot entrees. I tried the Moroccan chickpea hot bowl and the tomato soup and both were a little bland, which was especially disappointing for something labelled "Moroccan". I would go back and try some different entrees to see if anything else is better, but I would say the salads are likely the best choice here. They have a very limited selection of "healthy" baked goods too. I really liked the chocolate pistachio cookie. As you would expect, it's significantly less sweet and has a slightly drier texture than a regular cookie, but if you like that kind of "better for you" treat, it's good. Very cocoa-forward. I've had good experiences with the service. The staff is friendly enough and usually pretty fast. It's counter service, but they'll usually bring your food to you at your table. There's a good amount of seating inside and a few tables outside when the weather allows. It's minimalist but clean.

This is the place where I usually buy cakes for the office. Their cakes are pre-made and placed in the displays for you to choose from. They make cakes throughout the day, but if you're unlucky they could be low on choices if you're there at the wrong time. If you have time, order ahead, but I don't usually have any problems with walk ins. The most recent cakes that I purchased were the Lemon Meringue and the Chocolate. Both cakes were sweet, light and fluffy. They were a hit in the office.

The HBC Gourmet Market is a little known great eatery in downtown Vancouver. It is located on the bottom floor of the Hudson's Bay Company (next to the Pacific Centre food court). It appears to be relatively unknown because Yelp doesn't know about it and so many people are always asking where I buy my lunch! Here you will find a very tasty selection of typical deli fare... The soups, salads, and sandwiches are their main selects but there is a whole lot more! My favourites are the Thai Chicken soup and the Chipotle Chicken Soup... usually ordered with a Greek salad. I am always so pleased with my lunch that I made this my very first review on Yelp!

And the porchetta on the cutting board was calling me. We ordered a Porchetta sandwich, meatball sandwich and a side Kale Caesar salad. The Porchetta was great. Spicy and delicious with a bit of kale added for texture and color. This was EVEN BETTER than the Porchetta if you can believe it. The kale salad was also good as well as the spicy pickle. I would eat here once a week if I lived close bye. A definite must try if you're in Vancouver. 9/10

Being that it was our first time here, one takeaway is to ask for more cracklin' because the crunchy pieces are the best part IMO. We ordered a porchetta sandwich and a grilled cheese. For the price (compared to Cali ) I thought it was a great value for a porchetta sandwich. The bread was fresh, perfectly toasted. The flavors were all tasty, and getting a side of their spicy dip elevated the sandwich even more. 10/10 would eat on the regular if I lived near by. The grilled cheese was alright though in comparison to the porchetta sandwich. Great cheese pull, definitely needs some dipping sauce to elevate it though. Don't know if I'd order again but if a grilled cheese is what you are craving, it'll do just fine. This location had some seating inside and a couple benches outside. Definitely good for solo dining or a quick lunch. Overall, glad we tried it, and wouldn't hesitate to order again.
