Came in for a gel overlay but due to a language barrier ended up getting my overlay removed and regular polish. (I realized this too late to try and fix the situation) Manicure was just ok and my nails ended up looking pretty nice, but the tech kept constantly burning my nails with the drill during the removal process. Also, they used a quick dry spray which was nice, but somehow I still managed to instantly smudge a nail. I started coming here when they first opened which is when I also happened to move to Lakeview. The location was great and so was the quality of service. Now, a little over a year later, I've had them screw up multiple appointments I've made months in advance (including one during the holidays when it's impossible to get in anywhere last minute). The gel x manicure ruined my nails but I kept going back for no chip manicures, thinking it would strengthen my nails over time. The last couple of times I've come, I always get hangnails soon after which was never an issue for me before. The wait is also always 20 minutes or more. The last straw for me was the last two days. I got a text reminder for an appt yesterday for gel x which I didn't make. My appointment was today for a no chip manicure. When I told them that they said that I would have to either come in for both appointments or take a cancellation fee. After some back and forth they agreed to waive the fee. Today is the pride parade and there is ZERO parking around the salon. I got here a half hour early and still had zero luck. I parked a mile away and started jogging to get there and got a text from them that I would have to reschedule and pay a fee. I told them to just charge me the fee and I wouldn't be back. For a business that is ALWAYS running behind, it's insane that a customer who has come every 2-3 weeks for over a year wouldn't get some courtesy of waiving fees (I understand not taking me late because someone else probably had an appointment). ** just wanted to update to reflect more accurate information re the response below. The Christmas Eve appointment was made ahead of time so this wasn't me asking someone to come in on Christmas Eve as is suggested below, which I wouldn't do. This was me booking an appointment during the holidays when it is really hard to get in and being told last minute that they screwed up the scheduling on the system. They suggested that I should have known that the booking was a mistake because it was Christmas Eve and my response was that that is ridiculous because not everyone celebrates Christmas. Also, the "waiver" of the fee wasn't a courtesy. I had to argue back and forth several times to receive that "courtesy". If you have any doubts about this place, ask anyone that has been here in the past few months. I always try to leave good reviews when someone does a great job and am very reluctant to post a negative review about a small business but after not posting about (i) being left waiting for 20-30 minutes on several occasions with an appointment, (ii) being cancelled on, (iii) receiving rushed/sub par service and (iv) having my nails ruined by the nail tech taking off the gel x manicure (my nail beds were so bumpy and damaged that the polish they put on top looked like it was rippling), enough is enough. I had started to go somewhere else for pedicures but figured I'd keep going to them for no chip manicures because those are time consuming but hard to screw up and the place is so close to my house. It's not about the cancellation fee, which was $25 and a fraction of the cost of their services. I wanted to loooooove this place as it came highly recommended. I also wanted to do something outside of my comfort zone like nail art and gel-x. My appointment was for a lux pedi and a nail art, gel-x manicure. In total I think I spent about 3.5 hours in the salon and $165. The place is adorably decorated. The downside is the uncomfortable pedicure chairs. No padding, no massage, no real spa like quality to it. The lux pedicure was fine. No fuss. Ok, no biggie but I clearly have a different definition of lux. The application of the nail-x nails over my real nails is what took the longest. Not a fault of anyone just know that this is not a 1 hour service. When we got to nail art, the artist took things into her own hands a bit which is fine but deviated from the color palette I wanted. When it came to my ring finger where the actual art was, she used an orange color that was a bright orange against a muted pastel palette. I hesitated to give negative feedback but since I knew this was going to be an expensive appointment, I spoke up and it was fixed but again not very close to the picture I had. I paid and went on my way. 2 days later, a nail snaps right off while lowering my blinds for bed. I make an appointment to fix. Not exactly what I wanted to do on my Tuesday night but I rushed around after work because it sure looks weird with 9 fake nails and 1 real one. Thursday I'm typing an email and snap, there goes a different one. Now I'm less than excited. I am an IT project manager for a living who types all day, so any impact to my nails is pretty minima. However, one is a fluke. Two is a pattern. I call and leave a message and get a lovely response. We will comp your previous appointment and please come in this Saturday and we will remove the false nails (my request) and give you a manicure (again my request). Great! I show up Saturday and I do indeed get a manicure. Zero frills whatsoever. Kinda fine with me at this point as I have spend way too many hours in this nail place in the last week. However, my previous appointment was not comped and I am sent on my way with a "free" manicure. So I spent $165 to spend like 6 hours in a nail salon for a basic manicure/pedicure. I thought others should know before making the plunge themselves. Again, I really wanted to like this place but the cost benefit is just not there. read more

Really wanted to love this place... It is absolutely beautiful inside and everyone is so nice! However, I have tried on 3 occasions to do a walk-in appointment and each time have been turned away because they are fully booked. To that, I completely understand- they're new, they have minimal time slots available each day, and they value their appointments. But with that said, please don't advertise that walk ins are welcome if you don't have the hands to accept them! When I was eventually able to get an appointment, I opted for a Luxe Pedi + No Chip Mani with art (approx 2 hour appointment). I was so excited to finally try this place and I am so sad to say that I was somewhat disappointed. I arrived to my appointment 10 minutes early and was greeted, instructed to pick a color, and was given a water which was a great start! Once I chose my colors, I waited for 18 minutes before my service started and was told to soak my feet while she left for what seemed like a small break. I then waited another 12 minutes before my tech actually started my luxe pedicure. The pedicure itself was good, but not amazing for being the highest quality pedicure they offer. I was given a foot scrub, a mud mask/wax, and a hot towel. In total the pedicure took about an hour. At this point I had been in the salon for 1 hour and 40 minutes- keep in mind that the entire service was supposed to take 2 hours and I was early by a few minutes. I was then taken to the nail station to get started on my no chip mani. I showed my tech the ideas I had for my design, a simple design with a few colors and a white base. She seemed really hesitant on her ability to do it, to which I was understanding and said I was open to her interpretation / creative freedom for anything similar. Now this is where I was most dissatisfied. My tech was very perfectionistic about her color application- which isn't a bad thing, other than that it took her 30, yes that's right, 30 passes under the LED light to complete the BASE color. That means that she would paint one finger, have me put under the light, then the next and so on for 3 coats. I had been in the chair for another hour and 18 minutes at this point and was pushing it close to a dinner reservation so I eventually had to pass on doing the design all together, because who knows how long that would've taken me! I was in the salon for 2 hours and 48 minutes total, when I originally made time for just 2 hours. For not even doing a design on my nails and doing a just above average pedicure, I am not sure I would recommend this place for your next visit if you're expecting luxury services. All together I spent $100+ on these services plus tip. read more

I normally always have a great experience at this salon, but DO NOT go to Dana. If I wanted my nails soaked with foil.... And put through a painful nail job I'd go pay the standard $25-$30 from 1000 similar places. I came to this place because it was different and the techniques used are unique that make my nails better. Not with Dana. I will never go to her again. My partner and I went in to Legendary for mani pedis and had a lush experience. The salon is gorgeous - so clean, comfortable and stylish. It also has beautiful bright, natural light. The products are all clean and non-toxic. Our nail technicians were Jhulie and Kana, and they took such care with our nails. We were not rushed and the whole experience felt like we were at a sanctuary day spa. Highly recommend coming here for all of your nail needs! They also offer makeup and lash extensions! read more

I want to start by saying ive come to this place several times and love the vibe and the people. Everyone is very friendly and you can tell the techs have amazing experience. The cons are the pedicure chairs are very uncomfortable. I've only gotten basic pedicures and it's pricey for what you get. Also the way they efile the cuticles has hurt me every time I've gone. If you have minimal cuticles and are sensitive then I suggest not letting them do the filing/cutting of the cuticles. I will say my manis here are the best ever and so beautifully done. I'm honestly reviewing this salon as 5+ stars for Julie and 3 stars for the other technicians and the salon as a whole. First of all, I followed Julie from her previous salon because she does an absolutely perfect job every single time, nail art included or not. She shapes my nails perfectly on the first go, ensures each coat is even and covers the full nail, and thoroughly cares for my cuticles and health of my nails. Unfortunately, Julie books up quickly so I had two different techs for yesterday's visit, one for my pedicure and one for my mani. The pedicure was the least relaxed pedicure I've ever had. They were running 30 minutes late, so it was rushed and she did a sloppy job. I asked her to fix the several jagged edges and which she also rushed through. My pedicure looks sloppy and uneven for $45. As other reviewers have mentioned, the chairs are beyond uncomfortable. Some pillows might help, but I essentially had to hold up my legs the whole time because there's no comfortable distance between the chair and the bowl they used. I asked if I could try moving the chair back to accommodate my legs next time, but in all honesty they are charging such a premium price that they need to invest in proper pedicure chairs. All other salons have them. My nail tech for my manicure was fine. She was attentive and listened to my needs, but I had to correct her several times on length and shape. I pay a premium price so that nail techs can properly shape my nails the first time with minimal guidance, but I found myself fixing crooked nails later at home. The coats were not even so the edges of my nails are sloppy. This was also the very first manicure I have ever received in my life, and I've gotten hundreds, where I did not receive any hand massage whatsoever. Maybe I should have asked for one. I brought my concerns to the receptionist and she kindly gave me a small discount, but what I'd really like is more nail techs like Julie that are up to par with the prices they charge. I'll keep going because I have my next several appointments booked out and I have to keep getting manicures from Julie, but I might go elsewhere for a more thorough and comfortable pedicure for $15 cheaper elsewhere. read more

I normally do not post reviews but for this place, I felt it was necessary. I was influenced by a Chicago Blogger to visit this newer salon for a gel manicure and gel pedicure. When me and my friends first got there, we were sat down to do pedicures. The other ladies were fine( minus the fact that one of them booked Gel-X extensions and was told the didn't have enough time). Towards the end of my pedicure, my cuticles were bleeding on both feet, I had a scrape on my ankle from the exfoliating tool and the nail polish was everywhere. I said something only because $75 for a pedicure and $75 for a manicure is very expensive to be looking like this. They had 3 nail technicians come over to look at my feet and eventually one of them said they needed to completely re-do my pedicure but that they would fix it. The First Nail technician was sent home from work, in tears, which was really uncomfortable for the clients in the salon. Once my toes were fixed, it was time for nails. My nail lady was great- except the foil on my nails hasn't even lasted a week. It started chipping after two days.I got Gel-x overlay which I was told would last from 3-4 weeks. I am so disappointed that my manicure hasn't even lasted for a week with the amount of money we paid. Be careful when trying out this place! read more

I've never been someone to have a go to nail salon. I've always felt like everywhere was pretty much the same, so the most affordable/convenient option is my to-go. However, I've been coming back to legendary for a couple months now, because I can truly see the benefit. My nails are not the strongest so they often broke before getting any significant length. I was extremely disappointed after getting a pedicure here for the first time. I scheduled the Legendary Luxe Pedicure as I was looking for "additional pampering", which is what the description states. I'm 7 months pregnant and was really hoping I would get a nice foot massage (my feet hurt!) since I was paying extra for this pedicure vs the Legendary Pedicure. This was not the case. I noted I was pregnant in my reservation booking. I was extremely uncomfortable in the chair I was sitting in and the way she would prop up my leg/foot and the position she had my feet in to paint my nails or scrub my feet was VERY uncomfortable. This was NOT a relaxing experience. When it came to the "massage", well it lasted 47 secs ... I counted the time because I could tell this wasn't going to go the way I was hoping. When checking out I wasn't asked how my experience was. I 99% of the time will tip you 20% and this time I didn't tip well. You would think that after seeing that tip amount it would prompt the person checking me out to stop and think, 'Well that's not a good tip, I should ask if everything was ok'. This pedicure was not worth $50. After getting home and inspecting my pedi, some of my toe nails were filed crookedly. 3 days later, my pedicure is already chipping. I will NOT be returning and do not recommend this place unless you are looking for a very BASIC pedicure. What a waste of money. read more

I used to live around the corner from Legendary and when it first opened, it quickly became my favorite spot. The staff was attentive, so kind and the pedis and manis were great! It's been some time and I just went again for the first time since I moved last august. I booked myself for a regular pedicure and a no chip manicure. The time estimation on the appointment confirmation was an hour and 45 minutes. I was there for OVER TWO HOURS. I do not know why. The ladies took care of me almost right away so I know we started in time, but both people who worked on my toes and nails took so long. Not sure if it was inexperience or what, but I was so antsy by the time I was an hour in. The even worse part was that I had originally thought I would need my previous no chip polish removed, but I ended up taking it off during the week before my appointment, so my time estimation probably should have been like an hour and a half. They did a good job so I'm not knocking the end result but I will not go back. I can't handle sitting there for two and a half hours and then paying over $100. I could have gone somewhere closer and it would have been cheaper and faster. read more
