Best nail salon on Roscoe! Have been coming here since the new ownership (about 7 months ago). Staff and owner are all super friendly and easy to work with. I used to get gel/no chip at another salon but wanted to give my nails a break. They introduced me to Dazzle Dry and my nails have never looked better. I swear it helps my nails grow and get strong. I am pretty disappointed with my experience here. My typical nail place was booked and I was in desperate need of a no chip mani. I called and was able to get an appointment same day, which I appreciated being in a pinch. My tech was 15 minutes late in starting my nails from my scheduled appointment time. From there, she made comments about how thick my other polish was (it wasn't) and constantly stopped to text message on her her phone. She clearly wasn't interested in doing my nails and Less than a week later, my no chip mani has started to chip badly. I definitely do not recommend this place if you value your time or want a manicure that lasts. read more

I went for a mani/pedi and what I got was a polish change...but charged and paid for a full service. No soaking for mani, no cuticle care, just file and paint. My no chip is sticky and I have grave doubts it will last. The water for the pedi was just barely warm, and again, no cuticle care or attention to rough foot spots. Just paint and go. The space and the techs are nice, but there's no meaningful service here. read more

As a guy, it's hard to go into a pedicure place and be taken seriously. 2x10 was no exception. I was sat next to my girlfriend, whose experience seemed fairly normal. She was seated and the technician started right away. I sat around for ten minutes with my feet in a bath of still, tepid water. When the pedicure did begin, it was short and simple, but the water never was warmed up, and the bubbler (I think?) was never turned on. This was a less than mediocre experience, but not as bad as TT Nails, where I was cut with the grater. Won't be back, hopefully they improve. read more

Came here on a Sunday because it was conveniently located next where we had just had brunch. I have to start by saying I stand on my feet for 8-10 hours a day as a hairstylist and I need a pedicure to be good if not amazing. This may be TMI but I need them to clean on the sides of my big toes that tend to cause a lot of pain. I could care less about the paint job. Walked in and was immediately taken care of and sat. Dipped my feet into the water and it was barely warm. Hated that. They really do cover all the great touches like oil/massage/hot towel etc so I can appreciate that. The nail technician was using the cuticle nippers to clean around the nails and often got a little too close. She was about to start painting my toes when I asked her to go on the sides of my toes to get the nitty gritty. She just continues nipping my skin with the cuticle cutters. That was unfortunate. She applied a little alcohol to dissolve the oil and it burned. You do with that information what you will. All in all had an okay experience, but I won't be returning. The place is clean, and the technicians are nice, just wished they paid a little more attention to details. read more

This joint hits all the sweet spots for a nail spa! Put it this way, I moved to the suburbs a year ago and still make the trek here to get my paws prettied. The space is clean, the techs are friendly, the magazine & polish selection are endless. The price point is excellent in my opinion for the value; they also do specials on Mani/pedi combos. You get a shoulder massage, paraffin wax {pedis}, and a warm neck wrap all included in the price! Whaaat. The manager, Erica, is always pleasant, is sure to greet every guest and keeps the place running! A great nail home is hard to find which is why I've kept mine a secret for so long. If you want a decent mani pedi this is not the place for you. I went last Thursday, my nail chipped by Friday, I went in to get it fixed and they didn't believe I got my nails done there. They did fix it which was fantastic but not after looking through the books and making sure I was actually there. Today is Monday and I now have three chips on three different nails for my non chip manicure that should last at least two weeks. This is the first and last time I'll be getting a mani pedi here, waste of money, and not only that the ladies who work there don't try to make you feel comfortable. They talk and take their time, which is fine, but when I'm the only person in the salon having a conversation the whole time is not okay, it took almost two hours for a mani pedi with no other clients, they should have been pristine, but chipping within 4 days not okay. read more

This nail salon is the worst. Unprofessional staff not sure if the owner was there when I was explaining how uneven my toes were, did not do a good job with cuticles and the polish was old and thick. I called to see if they had availability and they did. When I got there they armed if I had an appointment I said no I just called. I faked for a 2x10 pedicure and gel manicure they told me no You can't have must have regular pedicure I said ok. There was no one in the place and they put in in a broken chair mind you there were 6 other chairs open. No massage, or place to put my purse. The woman who did my pedicure did the worse job I decided not to do a manicure. I complained about the uneven toes, the old nail polish and horrible paint job. I woman with long hair came and looked and said the tech had 10 years experience well look at my feet, not a good job. They charged me anyway and I felt the need to tip the tech yet they should have discounted or not charged for the awful pedicure. Never going back this business does not care about the customer the worst nail salon I have ever experienced. Spoke to owner she expressed that despite the poor job it was the technician's best job. I work down the street and this is the best nail place in the neighborhood! I usually opt for the regular mani/pedi, and my fingernails typically last for at least a week. At other salons, they last 3 days MAYBE before they're a chipped disaster. All the technicians are nice and do a great job. The salon is clean and last time I was there they were playing Schitt's Creek on TV, which brought a smile to face. No need to go anywhere else! read more

After living in the neighborhood for a year I decided to try a spot closer to home and I won't be back. My nail tech wasn't very pleasant, she was short with me. The massage mechanism on my chair did not work. Also my tech continued on with her conversation with another tech - speaking in their native language during my whole experience there which is not the most relaxing. Additionally, after getting a pedi and a no chip mani I was never offered the massage or neck warmer that other reviews here rave about. That being said, she did do a nice job on the mani/pedi. I did ask after paying if a neck massage was routine and the woman who checked me out (not my nail tech) responded yes....then realizing I didn't get one she called my nail tech. Too late at that point. I won't be back which is unfortunate because I'm in the neighborhood. Will trek back to my old neighborhood where I can guarantee good service. read more

I have been to this salon a few times in the past, but this afternoon the nail technician did not clean the nail tools between customers! I saw her bring over my cuticle trimmers and start right on the lady's feet beside me! I am absolutely disgusted! I get pedicures very regularly, and this was easily one of the worst I've had. To start, they asked me to pay as soon as I arrived. Why would I pay for a service before it is complete? After declining and confirming payment upon completion of my pedicure, I received nothing but attitude from the poorly-coifed man at the reception counter. No one offered to take my coat, and I had to ask to hang it up before it was taken from me. When I sat down, the nail technician tried to roll up my pants. Slow down, we just met. The pedicure itself was meager. The technician paid more attention to my leg massage than my actual pedicure. I went in because the bottom of my feet needed some winter love. She spent approximately 15 seconds on the pumice scrub and she forgot to prune the cuticles on one of my feet. My painted toes look fine. It's nothing to write home about but it's better than if I had a toddler paint my toes. The post-pedi back rub was probably my least favorite part. I realize there are people who probably enjoy that aspect, but I'll pass. My friend wasn't even offered a back rub. My favorite receptionist rudely told us (not asked) to pay because they were closing. Calm down, sassy. Needless to say, I will not be returning and I urge you all to stay away. read more

Perfectly acceptable nail salon in my hood. We called to make appointments, and they were very friendly and accommodating. We came in at just the perfect time, right before the Sunday rush. I like my pedicure place to be extremely clean. It makes me feel more assured that everything is sterile. The inside felt kind of dirty; I want them to give their floors a little bit of love. Just sweep 'em up, throw a little pine sol in a bucket and really scrub em. The massage chairs were OK, as was the pedicure. I wish she had spent more time scrubbing my feet with the pumice. Isn't the point of the pedicure to get your feet nice and soft? How can they be soft is she spends a total of 20 seconds scrubbing my heels? They can't be. The massage was good, and they give you a little shoulder massage after you've sat under their dryers. They also had many a color from which to choose, and I believe they have recently gotten their new no-chip OPI nail polish, for those of you in need of the no-chip manicure. Also, they don't let you put tip on your credit card. This gets under my skin, but I try to understand it from their perspective. All in all, an OK experience. I would go back because it is so convenient, and you do get a pretty decent pedicure. It cost $30, which I think is expensive, but that's pretty much a competitive price for Chicago. read more

How long does your manicure last? For me, a typical manicure buys me 2 days. I will inevitably chip it, bang my nails on something and/or not be patient enough to wait until my nails dry before I leave and smooth the polish on my keys or my body. So when I looked down at my nails 7 days after my manicure and it was still in tact, I made a note that this was Yelp-worthy. This place is close to my BF's place and I've been here now twice. Both times I have not had a wait, they end up waiting for me to pick my nail color! I'm not much of a talker at these places and that's fine for the staff, they left me alone to the stack of trashy magazines. not worth any of the money I spent. Absolutely could have done better myself! First of all, they make you pay upfront and have no where to tip when paying credit. Really?!?, you cant just charge me more so I can tip?...so they send you to an atm down the street that charges $3. I got a pedicure first. One of the main reasons I get a pedicure is to get my heels pumiced. The woman barely rubbed them and the are still in rough shape. Im VERY irritated about that!! next, my manicure. I sat and waited till my nails were dry and sprayed them with quick dry. Lines are all through the polish and two are already chipped!!!! 2 x 10 is my weekly God-send. The minute I walk in I can feel the stress coming off and now I'm going to walk out feeling refreshed. Depending on how I feel each week I alternate between the no-chip and regular manis and always get a pedi. I play soccer every week, and the pedicure lasts for weeks -- in tact. The personal service here is also impeccable. Within weeks of switching from my old nail place of choice to this one, the staff already knew my name. They also let you BYO. This is great for Friday's after work when you want to unwind with a glass of Pinot with your girl friends. I also want to note, that I don't live in Roscoe village, but downtown. I happily make the treck up there becaues this place is just worth it. read more

I just checked my card and it says this salon authorized my card for another transaction YESTERDAY which is impossible because I haven't stepped foot into this salon since my first mani pedi. I've fallen victim to a few issues here on multiple occasions: 1. Overbooking 2. 40-something-year-old women throwing temper tantrums -- Relax and please realize adding services onto your pedicure pushes other people's appointments back. Also, remember that the men and women providing you with a service have lives too and maybe want to go home. (I witnessed a woman complaining until she got her manicure even though they were booked through the night. Then, she brought a friend back with her at 10 minutes until close.) Roscoe Village's first world problems combined with an awkward massage make it pretty hard to relax here. read more

Per other Yelper's reviews who recommended calling in advance, I decided to so that I could avoid any confusion or difficulty even though I always come as a walk-in. Calling never even crosses my mind! They were able to fit me in no problem for a manicure. I am no manicure connoisseur, however, I was satisfied with the service performed. A few other people were getting a no chip manicure, and it looked beautiful! The only strange part of the experience was how quiet the salon is and that both the tv's were playing children's shows when there were no children present in the salon. The quietness combined with the clean decor proved to be more relaxing for me. A manicure is $15. Some other places that I've been to have charged $13-15 for a manicure. In my experience, $15 is the better manicure and worth the extra $2, including here. read more

I had one of the worst mani/pedis of my life here last weekend. I've been going to this 2x10 location for almost 4 years and have continued to do so despite their higher prices, because it is so closely located to my house... Never again. I was assigned to a young man whose behavior was smug, rude, and completely unprofessional. He was so heavy-handed and was actually hurting me as he clipped, filed, and scraped at my cuticles. I asked him to please be more gentle and he rolled his eyes and then started speaking under his breath to the man seated next to him. Then he barely pumiced my feet, barely exfoliated my legs, and massaged the shit outta my calves. The whole experience was SO uncomfortable. As I was transitioning to my manicure, I accidentally smudged one of my toes. I asked him to please fix it and he huffed and puffed. He then had me awkwardly suspend my foot in mid-air while he crouched down and re-touched my nail, all the while making tsk tsk noises and complaining that his back hurt. He even paused to stand up and crack his back. What? How weird! For a $45 service, this is definitely NOT a luxury experience. After being a regular customer at this 2x10 location for almost 4 years, I will NEVER be returning. Next time, I'll check out the new nail salon down the street. read more

I would like to give 2 x 10 a better rating, but I simply can't. Got a mani/pedi with one of my besties today. She opted for the 2 week gel nails, and I went for the regular. The experience itself was lovely, comfortable, and the foot, hand and shoulder massage were above the norm. However, I do a pretty good job on my nails myself so my standards are a bit high for the actual end product: well appointed nails. I can't say I got them this trip. Here's why: Some of my nails are filed more roundly than others (I usually go for the squoval - flat top, rounded on the ends) and the polish job is not great. In addition, the tech was very aggressive with my cuticles, and I got nipped. She was sincere in her apology, and took cure of it right away. But this happens far too often to me personally. I'm starting to think I need to request "no cutting." But I digress. I may be too forgiving, but I will give them another shot. I bet if you find a particularly decent tech here, and keep coming back for the same person (or same few people) that would be your best bet. Simply love the 'hood, too. That helps. read more

The manicure and pedicure itself are good, which is a shame because I live on the street and would happily give my business (I've visited several times) but not when the owner doesn't appreciate your business or more importantly make you feel welcome. I think they are starting to cut corners. I've been coming for 3 years and the quality has become very unreliable. The last pedicure I got was extremely poor. The lady rushed through the job even though it was the middle of the afternoon and not busy at all. She cut the cuticles too short and left the nails too long. Also the nails had rough corners that snagged on my sheets. At first the water temperature was too cold and when I asked very nicely if she could warm it a little, she turned the hot water right on my foot and scalded it. Everything she did she did only barely -- filing, trimming, exfoliating, etc. 2x10 is more expensive than other places but it was justified by the mini-back rub that they give you while your nails dried, but this time it wasn't worth it. I would say it was more of a micro-rub -- it lasted at most 15 to 20 seconds. I'm taking my business elsewhere. read more

The first time I went I only got a manicure and I felt it was rushed and not worth the price. That was also the first week(s) they were open. Went last week for the second time because it was convenient and thought I would give them a try again. MUCH better experience. Ask for Jenny if you like to go solo to relax and just read your magazines and watch whatever is on the TV because you just want to relax and not chit chat. The only I would have wanted more of is stronger more thorough massaging of the calves and feet; although you can pay an additional $10 (or something like that) for ten minutes of just that. The yelp page said they take walk ins. This is false advertising. My daughter and I came in for a mani pedi. We picked out our colors and sat in a chair and began to soak. There was a mix up with appointments and there were two other women that were scheduled for the same time as we walked in. If I were a business owner, I would just ask us to wait since we were walk ins. Instead they asked us to leave. We were already settled, but they didn't want to stay open longer than they needed to to take care of walk ins. Poor judgement and terrible for business if you ask me. They were rude and not accommodating. I will never give this establishment and of my business. Go to TT Nails on Lincoln instead. They always take walk ins and never turn anyone away. I love this new spot! The place is very bright with brand new massage chairs. The kind of chairs I've only seen before in Vegas ( they massage but it's more than just a vibrating sensation, it's like one of those shiatsu machines). The ladies working there are very nice and spent a good amount of time on my pedicure. They also give a neck massage while your polish is drying which some people might find weird but I thought it was good. The price of my pedi was $12 less than on the posted sign which was nice. I also forgot cash and they let me put the tip on the card. read more

I have been there 4 times and every time I kick myself in the butt for going again. The pedicure was too rough, again. I asked her not to be too rough and I am not sure she understood. She cut my toenails WAY to short which made the filing very uncomfortable (this was the second time that happened to me there). I asked for a French Manicure and was disappointed. I asked her to use one color but she insisted on the other which I ended up not liking. I suppose I could have been more stern but by this time I thought.... who cares, never again.
