We are regular visitors to Morro Bay so we decided to try Legends since it is within "staggering" distance to our hotel. We wished it had some regular tables instead of only high bar tables, but hey, it's a bar. It is a small dive with fun ambiance. The moose head and wall of liqueur bottles is impressive and scenic. There is a juke box but the music is not too loud. We were there two and a half hours hanging out, drinking, and talking, people watching, and eating pizza (which we liked). My husband ordered shots of fireball whiskey which were $4 each and they were very full shots past the fill line. He also ordered a bud light on draft which cost $4.75. They had an amber hills ale on special for $2 a glass, but we didn't try it. I got the impression that this is a vodka type of bar, so I ordered a bay breeze, which was $7.50. The bartender, Bill, makes the cocktails with half alcohol, so they have enough to give you a buzz for sure. However, since they do not use fresh juice, I didn't like the bay breeze. So I switched to a Harvey wallbanger which was also $7.50. It was really good, so I had another. Regarding the pizza, we ordered a medium "special" which was a combo pizza for $20. We liked the pizza and the crust was thin/medium crispy. It took a long time to get the pizza, but we didn't care since we were there to drink. A small pizza would have been plenty for the two of us. I also ordered two waters from Bill and he tilted his head and exclaimed "water?!" He was joking and gave us some big glasses of water. There is a long shuffle board table and some guys were playing on it which was neat to watch. There were some salty dog local fishermen sitting at the bar which gave the place some extra character. It is a cozy place to drink and relax. We will return. read more

Probably one of the top bars in the little town of Morro Bay. Cheap prices for Jack and Jose, but the coasters for your drinks are Dodger-themed - bleh!!! There's shuffleboard, pool, and darts here; but they wouldn't let us play darts because the place was too crowded or something. I really enjoy spending time at this bar. Not only are the bartenders super friendly, but they get your drinks quickly and go out of their way to make sure you have what you need. When you drink is low, even if you're not sitting a the bar, they'll check in on you. I love going there to play pool and shuffleboard while sipping on a tasty drink. Even when you're starting to get hungry, you have a convenient little window to the pizza place next door.... (In my opinion, they're over priced and not that fabulous, but nevertheless, it is still pretty okay.) I also love that this bar draws a crowd of the most random people! Awesome looking bar with a giant moose head over the center of it! I've seen a lot of moose heads in my day and this was by far the biggest! The bartender was super sweet and nice to us. Its a quaint and friendly little bar that has a cozy feel to it. I enjoyed my beers and listening to the regulars who were chatting and hanging out here. Oh, Legends. I love you. No trip to Morro Bay is complete without a few drinks and a couple rounds of cribbage at Legends Bar. James and Bill are the only bartenders I've met, but both pretty much rock. Large selection of spirits-- including Galliano! I have a compulsion to have a Harvey anywhere that has Galliano (it's such a rarity) and Legends makes them juuuuuuust right. Don't want to just sit and drink? How about some shuffleboard? Or watch a few different games on the tube? Or maybe play some pool? Ask for the cribbage board if you like cards, or just for the deck for a friendly game of War. Seriously, I love Legends. Great place to unwind in Morro Bay! Pop in and grab a brew and order a delicious pizza pie from the attached Sabetta's. No frills, down-to-earth, and fantastic decorations. Staring at the walls here is not a sign of boredom by any means. And can't forget about the giant moosehead wearing xmas lights above the bar! I could easily see getting a little crazy and closing the place down at Legends...and there's some fantastic statues out front to make for some great end-of-the-night photo ops ;) read more

Always a good time when I come to this bar. Drink prices are affordable the staff is always pleasant and timely and the locals that come here are normally fun to be around. The location is great, it's an easy walk to most of the local hotels and to the beach. They have a pool table, tv's, a jukebox and a pizza place right next door what more can you ask from a watering hole? The best feature that lets you know this a great bar is the Moose over the bar, that sealed it for me. read more

Oh wow! Almost rated this place a zero because of the customer base. Sat down at the bar. The bartender made a great margarita for my date. The beer selection was great too. There are lots of TVs and all the sports games are on with no sound. There is a window in the wall where you can order food from the awesome pizza place next door. THEN, just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water... this horrible drunk old rat sat next to me. She danced and talked to herself obnoxiously for like 10 minutes. Then she said "someone needs to watch my dog". She had a gorgeous 13 year old German Shepherd. I love Shepherds. "I'll watch your dog" said me, hoping to get rid of her. She replied "Thank you, but no one watches my dog for me". ...of course not!!! Crazy much??? She then started dancing and moving her hands right next to my head and face. So -yes, crazy much!!! I asked "what are you doing?" Her feelings got hurt and she ran off. She came back later chasing another guy who kept saying "leave me alone". Horrible old rat. I was glad he chased her away. I always tell my out of area friends, "Meet me under the Moose" and I'll buy if you catch me there. Legends "at the old Circle Inn" has be best prices on "Top Shelf" spirits between LA and SF. Their inventory constantly changes. I told the owner to announce new labels on her Facebook page, but she doesn't have time. Legends even rotates their 13 beers on tap. I'm not sure how long that very fast shuffle board will stay as it does take up a lot of space. Go on Saturday afternoon when they hold the weekly Fisherman & Famers Market in the 800 block of Main St. Tognazzini's smoke BBQ is usually parked right outside Legend's front door. read more

This place is so fun! They gave me and my friends a free half pitcher when we went just because it was the bottom of the keg (a little foam don't hurt nobody!) Worth the wait because Brian was attentive even though he had tons of other people to serve! The bar has a pool table and tons of seating! You're able to pick your own music and also order pizza from the pizza shop next door!! They have a cool little window from inside the bar where you can place your order! Let's just start off by saying this is my first review I have ever posted, but I felt from my experience it was much needed. On 11/21/2020 I surprised my girlfriend by taking her to her favorite vacation spot (Morro Bay) we checked into our favorite hotel the Masterpiece and decided to go for a walk on the beach to enjoy the sunset. After 5 years of dating I finally popped the question on the beautiful beach of Morro Bay with a beautiful sunset in the back ground. After successfully surprising her with a beach trip to her favorite beach, staying at her favorite hotel she had no choice, but to say yes. After the sunset was over and emotions calmed we decided to head to a bar for a drink. We had passed legends earlier that day and saw the outdoor seating and it was walking distance so we gave them a shot. Upon arrival we noticed a sign that requested we wait at the front door. As we were waiting there was a man rudely cut through me and my Fiancé. After a few minutes of waiting that same man ended up greeting us and asked us for our IDs. I responded by asking him if we would be required to purchase food in order to drink as we had just ate a few hours prior. (Because of COVID most bars require purchasing food in order to drink). He responded "yes" I then asked him if we had to order a entree or if we could just split a side dish such as fries, this is when his attitude started. He told us "yes if we had fries, but we don't". I asked him what sides he had and he reluctantly told me two or three options he had. At that point I was content with ordering one of their cheap sides in order to drink, as I know it is only standard during these times. I proceeded by asking him if they had a open table as there were no open tables in sight. He responded "yes there is or else I would not have asked for your IDs". This is where he started being flat out disrespectful. I told him that I was sorry and that I did not see a table so that is why I asked and I handed him my ID. He checked it and brought us to our "table". The reason I didn't see a open table was because there was not one, he brought us to a planter box with two chairs around it. I just want to acknowledge that I am not complaining about our table as if the service was up to par I would have had no complaints as I know times are tough right now with COVID and we are just doing what we can to get by. I just felt I needed to add that, because he acted like I was stupid for asking if there was any open tables.. So upon walking up to our table he saw the to-go soda my Fiancé had and told us that we had to throw it away because it could have alcohol in it. I thought that was a bit odd as we were sitting outside and we were trying to order alcoholic beverages so why would we bring alchohol with us.. However I understand he was just following protocol so we complied and asked him to throw it away for us. He then asked us what we wanted to drink and my Fiancé asked if they had blended margaritas, he responded "uh no" with attitude. She then asked if she could get a margarita on the rocks with salt, he responded "uh no that won't work with plastic cups as we are outside so...". At this point my Fiancé was so tired of this man treating us like we were such a inconvenience that she told me she didn't want anything to drink anymore so we got up and started to walk away and told him that we were going to leave. He looked clearly displeased as he was walking beside us on our way back towards the front of the bar. I told him sarcastically "thank you so much for your awesome customer service". He responded "you are exact reason COVID is still going on". I have no idea what he meant by that so I just responded "times are tough and you are not helping your business out very much here" we then proceeded to celebrate our engagement in our hotel room with no drinks and with a bad taste in our mouth only hours after getting engaged. There is restaurants all around the place so I believe you can bring food in but they also have a pizza next door that has a window in the bar where you can order through. read more

I agree w/everything all my predecessors said, cool place, cooler bartenders, live band the weekend we were there (Labor Day) and a drink made for me by a bartender who said " Sorry sweetie, we ran out of Diet Coke so if your drink is too strong...I'll make you another." I will return to this bar in morro bay every single visit. My experience was great in the weirdest way. The bartender made us some great drinks from his own recipe, and they were so cheap! 4 dollars for a cute little cocktail. There is one pool table and shuffle board. The main reason I will come back is the owner of the bar though. There was a real creep who sat next to me at the bar and kept trying to whisper things to me about me and my friends, then stared at us for about 5 minutes, pretty much he was trying to get some lol. The lovely owner noticed without us even saying anything that he was staring and told that man he was creepy and needed to leave. Morro Bay is close to Paso Robles, so it makes for a great place to stay in the Summer when you are wine tasting in the heat. My husband and I ended up staying here 4 whole nights on our honeymoon, thanks to James, the bartender at Legends. We wandered in there one afternoon and after having a glass of wine and complaining about our room at another local hotel, James told us where to go and who to talk to. Knowing James got us a huge deal on the fanciest suite! Also, this is a great local bar, full of characters. read more

Great dive bar. Friendly, warm, inexpensive. Good beer selection. Legends knows what it wants to be, and does it very well. The place was small but had about 15-20 locals hanging out, and several people talked to us to see what we were doing in Morro Bay and chatted a while. A couple of dogs wandered around the bar sniffing everyone socially. When it was time to close, the bartender just asked everyone to head across the street to a sister bar once we finished our last drinks. He didn't rush us out, just cleaned up around the bar while we finished up our game of pool. Which reminds me, the bathroom was immaculate- extremely rare for a bar. I'm in Moro Bay a couple of times a year for a couple of days, usually on my bike. I usually it here mid t late afternoon. They do have live music in the evenings, which I've only heard once. Kind of a weird layout for the music with the stage facing the front window and small listening dancing area in front of the stage. Great bar! We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon, and the place was attended by a super friendly bartender named Jim. This guy was super cool and very helpful giving us tips on what to do the rest of the night there in Morro Bay. All the people there were very friendly and the place was very low key. It was pretty early in the afternoon, but this was a nice quiet place to kick back, shoot pool and watch sports on the t.v.'s available. I'm a huge fan of the dive bar. Legends is a great place to have a quiet drink. I came in on a holiday weekend and with every other spot packed this place was quietly inhabited by locals. A good strong drink at a good price. The happy hour deals are some of the best I have ever seen. read more

My husband and I were staying a few blocks away and decided to come down here and get our drink on. The atmosphere is fun, and the bartender was very personable. Drinks were pretty strong, and we left buzzed. They have a pizza place next door that attaches to the bar, and you can even order through a connecting window while never leaving the bar. Pizza looked and smelled great. We really wanted to try it, but they closed by the time we were hungry. Would love to come back again when in the area. read more
