This is a great spot for a snack and a cold drink. Doug was very nice and gave us excellent service. My hubby got the frito boat which was good. I tried the spicy polish sausage and it was yummy. I got the mustard and onions on the side. I liked that it hard great flavor and was not super spicy. It also has great views of the ocean. I highly recommend this spot. My wife and I came to Cayucos for our anniversary, and after arriving to town a bit late, and unpacking our things, we felt like getting a beer or glass of wine to wind down. We are SO GLAD we found this little gem and decided to try it! We were instantly impressed by the welcoming atmosphere. We were served by Bruce, the owner, who was very friendly and professional, and keeps an impressively clean and organized space, which is a huge plus for many. He is a really cool guy with a neat story(and gave us anniversary cupcakes), and had great recommendations for other things to do in the area, particularly, wineries and dining. The wine selection here is versatile and tasty, the beer is fresh and ice cold, and the food he made us(Chicago dog and charcuterie) was delicious. I have been to Beach Bums maybe a half dozen times and have always enjoyed the atmosphere and conversations. Bruce the owner is so personable, he makes everyone there feel good about being there. They have a nice selection of local wines and a great beer selection. The reason I am writing this review is because last night my good friend John and I went to see Bruce and John had told me about how great the hot dogs were. John ordered the chili cheese dog and I ordered the Chicago dog. It really was the best Dog I have ever had. Bruce told us that he gets the hot dogs (all beef) shipped in from a Chicago company that has been in business for 148 years. The relish he uses is also out of Chicago and is neon green in color and has a wonderful flavor. He gets freshly baked poppy seed hot dog buns from Edna's bakery and the whole hot dog thing was an amazing experience. When you are in the Morro Bay, Cayucos area you need to stop at Beach Bums and try one of their Hot Dogs. read more

Where to begin? This place is perfect. Bruce, the owner, is one of the most affable men you'll ever meet. Wide variety of amazing beers on tap, microbrews as well as the staples. The hot dogs and sausages are better than places who specialize in hot dogs, for example, "Three Stacks and a Rock Brewery". The beer is better here at Beach Bums, and the Chicago Dog is authentic and melts in your mouth. Naomi is unparalleled in smiles and friendly service. Not too attentive, but not aloof, she strikes the perfect balance. And if one doesn't find her Australian accent disarming and charming, maybe a cat scan is in order, lol. Beach Bums used to have Panini's and they were so good. We were taking a trip out to Cambria and we stopped here to get some food to go. As soon as we walked in, we were berated by the woman with long black hair running the bar accusing me of not being old enough. I told her that I can grab my ID from the car. We were just gonna get some food and she told I needed to get out right now and not return unless I had my ID. I couldn't even step foot in the building. I understand the rules, but she was so incredibly rude. She didn't say hello. She was not welcoming. She basically told us to get out. I've never had service like this, and I would never ever recommend coming here if that woman is working horrible horrible attitude she literally yelled at me in front of all of the customers that were in there definitely embarrassed me ! read more

We stopped by Beach Bums because they had the Houston football game on. What a fantastic find! The hot dogs were just as delicious and fresh as the owner Bruce told us. Dakota was helping that day. He is so engaging and responsive. Customer service was great and the atmosphere made us feel like we were welcomed into a big family gathering. The customers, old and new, shared stories and laughs about the game! The sunset views are amazing and there is a wonderful wrap around deck for outside seating as well. My friend and I spent a few hours there for St. Patrick's Day. The bartender and hosts were extremely friendly and we enjoyed our interactions. They had a special of corned beef sliders which were out of this world! Lean and tender corned beef with no fat on extremely fresh rolls which were toasted exactly right. Beach Bums is on my "must visit" list every time I stop by Morro Bay or Cayucos. The ocean view from the balcony is perfect for a romantic sunset session with your special someone. Gina is attentive, polite, and has great recommendations in guiding you to a wine that fits your palate. Bruce, the owner, will engage with the customers and seems to be everyone's friend. Every time we see each other, he remembers who I am, and we'll chat for a bit. The crowd is always a good time, I've never seen any drama in the years I've stopped by, and have literally made friends every single time. My favorite bar in Cayucos. Stopped in to watch the Rams playoff game. They have a huge TV behind the bar. The staff is exceptional and very aware of your drink level. They have really good garlic butter popcorn they will bring around to you. Drink prices are what you would expect for a bar setting. I wish they had a few more beer selections on draft but I still seem to find something I like. They have patio seating and indoor seating. They do have a small food offering if you get the munchies.
