Went there on Christmas Day after working all night as a first responder. My wife and I have a tradition of going out and celebrating her mothers life who was taken on Christmas years ago. This Christmas was the most toxic. The guy at the bar didn't want to work that day and was yelling at people for coming in. Told people he wish they would leave and we were all annoying. Said he's not making drinks only bottles and you don't even get to choose what bottle. Two over weighted nasty lady's on the end with colored hair also chipping in telling us we were annoying for asking for a drink on Christmas and we should be gone on our vacation. Extremely fun bar in Morro Bay! When we visited, Legends was decently full and quite lively. Even though we were visiting and the bar seems like a fun local hangout, everyone made us feel welcome. We received excellent service. They have a pretty decent tap list of craft and macro beer. They also have a pretty impressive liquor selection. There's also a pizza joint adjacent that will actually serve pizza into the bar from a tiny window. Overall, this was a great find! read more

A classic bar with stiff drinks & good beers on tap. A giant Moose head sits in the center of the bar, along with other old memorabilia of Morro Bay on the walls. I like how they always have sports playing on their TV's & they have a pool table. Legend's could be a locals hangout at times. Went in for cocktails and was told because of Covid I had to order food with our drinks?!? What? We had already had dinner at another local spot. We didn't want food and the bar across the street didn't make us buy food so we went across the street. I walked here from around the corner where I'm staying in a hotel on a solo vacation from New York. Upon arriving the bartender was unfriendly at best. After checking out some of the pictures on Yelp I was interested in a mixed drink so I asked what he recommended and he held up his hand and showed me his wedding ring and said he's already married and doesn't make decisions for other people. Uh, what? Okay. Then when he saw my confused expression he said it's all just a matter of opinion, to which I replied that's all I was asking for anyway. Fine. Whatever. So I ordered a bottle of beer and handed him my card. After he swiped it he told me it's a $10 minimum. I was alone so I was almost kind of hoping the beers were $5 each so I could have two and leave. I sat down at a table adjacent to the bar but after 5 minutes I realized I couldn't even finish my beer I was so uncomfortable. I set it on the bar half full and told the guy to just charge me $10 for it. He said I didn't know the rule so he was gonna let it slide. I told him that wasn't necessary and rules are rules so just charge me the $10 and he said what seemed unnecessary was to charge me $10 for one beer. So he charged me $4 and when I signed the slip I left a $6 tip. F*** it. Locals only it seems. Wow did I feel unwelcome there. read more

5 stars as usual. We come once or twice a year with the exception of the pandemic. Didn't know what to expect upon returning after all this time, but they did not disappoint. James and the others greeted us with the usual smile and great service. Will definitely keep coming back. read more

Well, after looking at my CC statement I was charged $10 the next day. I have contacted my CC company. This guy needs to be held accountable. Great little bar! We saw it on on drive in so decided to drop in to have some drinks to celebrate our anniversary. The vibe was awesome, great decor, looked like mostly locals, and a fantastic bartender! Listened to some great music from the jukebox and enjoyed great conversations with another table. Witnessed the worst display of bartending that I've yet to come across here last night. A few patrons entered, and sat down. Bartenders face immediately scowled, like he just has it in for these guys already. Began arguing with one of them over moving a drink down one seat. Mind you, he has no comment to these patrons about this until the woman who the drink belonged to returned. Eddie, as I shortly after learned his name to be, rather than try to calm things, continued to argue with the one patron. Patrons wisely chose to leave without further incident as Eddie told them all to leave. I left shortly after as well and do not plan to return. Can't relax and enjoy my drinks in an environment with a guy like that behind the bar. I'd rather drink at home. read more

Our first 4+ hour sit at the bar only cost us about $70, not a bad deal. But above and beyond the decent prices is the hometown feel and really great people that we came across! Sunday afternoon, James behind the bar, locals dropping in and out like it were their neighbor's house. Nobody snubbed us for being non-regulars and they even included us in conversation. Drinks were strong and made well. I first had asked for a Bloody Mary "extra spicy" and James whipped me up one made with horseradish! Interesting and really a great flavor. I had a couple of those and then switched to a classic well drink. I think besides the fact that the drinks were cold and served with a smile, this place just felt like "home" from the minute we walked in. It's definitely a "locals" bar, but the locals are friendly in Morro Bay! :) Thanks for a great time..... CHEERS!! read more

The pour depends on who's working: it was so weak the first visit, I switched to beers. It was ok the second, and legendary the third time. + $3 Jose Cuervo (or Jack) shots all day long. + order window to a pizza place next door, open til 9 or so. Tried this place again recently. Only one of two bars open late in MB. I still WANT to like and support local bars...It was kinda busy and again, waited 10 min for a drink, or to even be recognized. STRIKE 1-The bartender clearly did not have a system of left to right or right to left service, and was overwhelmed. Two things, hire 2 bartenders, or at least one who can knock out drinks quickly. When I said, "hey I've been waiting over 10 minutes" he relied, " hey, it's a bar" - who the fuck is managing and hiring shitty staff, and understaffing on a Friday night? STRIKE 2- Also, ordering bourbon rocks I get short- poured. A rocks glass is 4 oz. Fill w ice, add booze. He used 2 oz glass, with ice, add booze - With ice = less booze than a 1 1/4 oz shot glass= short pour. STRUKE 3 l Let's review.... Shitty service,, bad attitude AND short pour? No, no and no. Came to visit from the LA area. We came on a Saturday afternoon during happy hour. We were greeted by an awesome bartender named James. Mostly locals which we liked since it gives you a true feel of a place. Great specials on drinks including a quality IPA for just a few bucks. We will be back the next time we are up in Morro Bay. read more

Great dive bar for ambiance. Bar tender was nice. Small quanty place. There's lots of room to sit and it has a pool table. All the customers there are friendly. Buuuuuut watch your drink when it's made, they watered mine. Me and my husband asked for an old fashioned and he added water. And it was $12 each! Not cool. read more

Big Ben, the bartender. The man, the myth, the legend! My girl and I came through, staying in Cambria. She'd never been to Morro Bay so we swung through, walked around for a bit and it was time for a cold beer and a shot. Stumbled across Legends. I'm a sucker for a good dive bar and this one didn't disappoint. Found a couple seats at the bar on a Saturday afternoon. Place was kinda dead at 2pm but all of a sudden, it started to get crackin! We sat there and chatted with Ben. Cool dude from Pittsburgh. We talked all kinds of shit and the dude even bought me a drink to keep us there for a few. We really appreciated his hospitality and cool demeanor. He can read the room, which I can dig. Hit this spot up if you want a good drink and a good time. We will be back! read more

Oh how we love this bar! It's not a complete visit to the Central Coast if we don't stop at Legends. We've been going there for years and it never disappoints. Stella on draft? Check. Friendly bartenders? Check. Tipsy owner buying us drinks? Check. Giant Moose Head peering at the patrons from the wall? CHECK!! Other Legend's bar bonuses: There's a pizza joint (Sabetta's) next door with a window cut out at the end of the bar for ordering and food service (No, we don't have to leave the bar!!! Yahoo!!!). Jukebox, darts, billiards, bar-top video games, tabletop shuffle board. But you may not need any of those distractions.... ....Because there's those wonderful & friendly patrons, it never ceases to be a fun crowd. Boozers of all ages & walks of life. One moment you're toasting whiskey with a grizzled & leatherfaced sailor just passing thru town and the next moment reciting Irish poetry with a local doctor. To be fair, the 1 star is for the Thursday night bartender. (James). My group arrived a little after 11PM. The place was packed, everyone is having a great time, music is good and no one is getting out of line. I was expecting one more person who arrives at midnight and the same time the bartender yelled last call. What? You have 26-30 people in here and you yell last call. Not very businesslike. I'm guessing your boss lost a few hundred dollars not to mention the tips you could have made. So, the bar gets a 5 star rating, the bartender gets a -5 rating.
