Very disappointing that I put three cards on hold with confirmation I would be returning after grabbing some cards from my car to trade. Returned within 10 minutes come to find out that both cards were sold right in front of me because the employee failed to do his due diligence at his job. As a returning customer, this was a bit of a slap in the face and an unpleasant experience to say the least. Unfortunate to know that this is how reoccurring customers are treated. read more

Tournament was scheduled for 5:30 and Tyler gave away my spot by the time I got there at 5:13 because "I put it on discord the wait-list opens at 5:00"... posted on discord 11AM the same day. What does that mean to me when I'm a successful registrant? This wasn't mentioned on the official Bandai app. Never mentioned we would lose our spots. I also responded to his post and had a friend tell him I would be there after 5:00. Pretty sure he just gave my spot to his friend because this is an incredibly limited competitive event. Who needs 30 minutes to get a wait-list opened? They were all just standing around talking with their friends when I got there. They also canceled the pirate party last minute two weeks ago because they wanted to run Rift Bound to make some $$$. Cool. read more

Tournament scheduled for 5:30, got there at 5:15 to learn that my guaranteed spot was given away because I wasn't there at 4 to check in during a work day. Announcement was only given at 11 AM same day when the tournament was scheduled for months, and the announcement was only made on a discord that I wasn't in. Announcements can be made through the app, they just felt like they didn't need to announce in the app or they're ignorant. Afterwards they attempted to allow the 5-7 of us that they shafted in, but were surprised when they scanned our barcodes and got an error that the event was already capped. Acted surprised that they couldn't extend the Bandai set cap. Made the whole attempt feel like it was just a facade so they wouldn't get bad rep for handling the tournament poorly. Definitely ruined the entire chain for me. read more

I've always loved places like Legends Comics & Games in malls. The comics selection are a bit smaller than I am used to but it has a lot of games, card games, models, Pop figurines, etc. Also a game area where you can meet up with friends or possibly join a group to play games. read more

Much deserved low rating. Terrible One Piece Event host. Came for OP15 Pre-Release event, not only did they start late, they cut the event to 3 rounds only. At the end there were five 3-0 players including myself, but due to Bandia's random % distribution I was made 5th place. They decided to give 4 of the 6 winner prize cards to 1st and 1 each to 2nd and 3rd. This is totally BS as there was enough to give each of the 3-0 players at least one. They also did not allocate enough win packs so we were left with IOUs to come back to pick them up later. This place is an hour away for me and I can't believe I have to come back here. This was a complete wast of my night and I wish I picked literally any other LGS for the event. read more

This store is listed as a "Comics & Games" store. However, there are only ~12 comic books in this whole store! They are old Thor comics ($.12 cover price) and all at least $25 each. Don't believe them when they say they have comicS, and don't waste your time looking for comics here. They did have a ton of game stuff, and lots of gamers playing, so maybe just call it Legends Gaming. read more

I understand they have the right to put whatever price tag they want on their items, but I have a feeling that they themselves are probably the same people who line up at other stores to scalp trading cards only to bring them to their shop and resell them for a premium. The reason they hold tournaments is probably to build loyal customers who enjoy supporting their store. I don't see this store ever changing its strategy; I mean, why would they... if it works, it works. I would simply advise anyone to do their research prior to purchasing product from any seller. Excellent customer service! Staff went above and beyond! My 6 year old son saw a Venom toy in the window that he wanted to spend the $10 he earned on. We came in and looked for a Venom toy in the store. I couldn't find one so I asked the worker behind the counter. He took the time to look for one on the floor, he didn't find one. He looked on the wall behind the counter and found a super cool Venom figure that was $60. My son was heart broken. The worker explained that their store was a collectable store, not a toy store as it appears to be and thats why it is so expensive. He said he would check with his inventory specialist to see if they had any Venom toys that were affordable. He came out with a PERFECT Venom figure and said it's price was exactly $10. I was extremely impressed with their customer service. They went above and beyond to put a smile on my son's face. :) Thank you! read more

As comic stores go, this one is not very good. As game stores go, it's good but not the best. BUT if you love collectible card games, high end Japanese toys / models, and nerdy type stuff, you'll enjoy this store. They rock when it comes to collectible card games and their prices are very reasonable. The complaints I've read about them really have no merit and are from people unfamiliar with the collectible market. This is really a pretty good place to go. The Oakridge location is moderate, but is also the headquarters for their distribution. If you have a question about an upcoming product, speak to this store's manager (not the regular folks working the front). PRODUCTS: As laid out above, not the best when it comes to comics. Comic books are really a side hustle for this place and not a main focus. I was told as much by the owner. But I love their collectible card game selection. Very reasonable prices - sometimes better than much bigger stores! I usually come here for box purchases. SERVICE: Hit or miss. Some of the folks here are great. Some are only okay. And product selection on items other than collectible card games is hit or miss. COST: Best part of this store. I was looking for sleeves for my one piece deck I was gifted, and I didn't know what size the cards were when the cashier asked me. I asked her what size would she would recommend and gave me a Japanese size. I trusted her judgement not being knowledgable myself. I tried putting them on the cards and they didn't fit. I called and asked if they do refunds and they said they can't unless it's sealed. I'm pretty upset. I visit often to look and finally purchased something and now I have a useless set of card sleeves. Don't trust their judgment if you're new to TCG games and do your own research. read more

Came expecting to buy a DnD Handbook, realized I could find it somewhere else, was starting to leave when Jorge came out of the dust! He showed us some of the stuff me and my sister were REALLY interested in. Stuff we didn't even realize was in the store. I shot some ideas on using monster cards, and he filled my imagination with ideas! He even took the time to hype me and my sister up to buy some playing cards. I haven't picked up a booster pack in over 5 years, but Jorge got us hyped so we bought 2 of Yu-Gi-Oh! and Pokemon. Each! He even invited us to the Wednesday night tournaments and offered to help us build a powerful deck. I wish there were more people like Jorge. Usually after times like these, I look at the cards on my desk and regret buying, but Jorge alone made the experience worth every cent. Give that damn kid a raise and make him the president. Other than the great staff, there was a plethora of board games that peaked my interest. I enjoyed looking at the figures in the glass cases and drooled over the Gundam they have in store. There was also an awesome collection of comics, ranging from DC and Marvel to Scott Pilgrim and Adventure Time. Something to appease any type of customer. All around great store! read more

I love their new location in the oakridge mall! So much bigger, clean and well lit, plus an Expanded inventory. I love the cute plushy 'island' they have towards the back of the store and so did my daughter! They seem to have way more room to display their products which is nice because now you can easily and quickly see whether they have what you want. My husband and I came here to shop for a friend and we weren't sure what to get, so to have everything just laid out for us was convenient. We were asked multiple times by the employee working if we needed any help. Seemed like he made multiple trips around the store to check on the guests shopping. Products ranging from manga/comics/light novels/figures/pins/board game merch/sword replicas/keyboard pads/dice/posters and much more are available here. They seem to also sell trading cards for various games, tbh the only one I recognized was Pokémon. They had some cards that had been graded and priced accordingly too but I'm not sure if they grade them there or if they purchased them that way from customers. I do have a lot of Pokémon cards so I guess someday I'll find out first hand. read more

went into legends to buy some one piece trading cards. It took forever for the employee to even ask me if I need help because he was chatting with another customer. I asked to purchase some one piece booster box sets, and while I was asking, another employee brought a whole case from the back and was about to sell it to the guy in front of me. I asked how much for the case and he said that's not for sale he's only allowed to buy it because he knows the owner of the store. So not only does this place up charge for one piece booster box sets. They also have favoritism and will cut deals with other people that they know and for your information the guy that was buying the one piece booster box case also bought all the loose booster box sets. I was lucky enough to get some of my own. They don't limit buyers so any regular consumer will get screwed. Scalpers come to this store a lot. Buyer beware read more

Wanted to share a horrible experience my family had with our local game shop, Legends in the Bay Area... since I've started collecting I've supported going to our LGS to buy stuff from D&D, Pokémon and now Lorcana. Our oldest son (teenager) wanted to do something nice for my wife and I and he knows we started collecting Lorcana. Well the staff sold him on getting us a 100 Anniversary Lorcana Collectors box and charged him $180! After tax came out to like $191. Now I realized after spending a lot of money on a few items the difference LGS charge with "market" value vs retail. I totally get it but I also feel like at the same time they should be heald accountable to 1.) Educating people who are coming in to buy at their establishment the difference. 2.) Keeping up on current "market" value of current inventory. These boxes haven't been worth that much for over a month now and he made this purchase on 12-24 at which time "market" value was around $65. I tried to go in to discuss options and the only phrase that was continued to be said... All TCG are final sale. This lack of accountability has lost my patronage. 1.) They took advantage of a young uneducated buyer 2.) There use of "market" value with lack of "market" value knowledge. 3.) Unwillingness to discuss rational options despite transactional negligence So anyone in the Bay Area... avoid Legends there are far better options in the group, online and ever better supporting local sellers in Facebook marketplace. In the meantime I refuse to let my kid get taken advantage of so have reimbursed him the difference vs current "market" value and will be keeping it because of the excitement he had to give it to us. read more

I love this comic book store! I started to build up on my Neon Genesis Evangelion manga collection and then recently bought one of the volumes of AH MY GODDESS MANGA. It's awesome they have action figures for those who like to collect mini starships. They also have small and medium sized statues of Heroes, villains, and Anime characters. And they have board games and trading cards. So any comic book and sci- fi nerds living near the The Oakridge mall or South San Jose, I recommend this store. read more

A great place to shop if you're in the mall. They carry a large selection of statues, books, pops, trading cards, and old collectible statues (oh and DnD/Warhammer and all that good stuff). Their use of the space is a bit confusing to me as comics are pushed far to the back with low selection while old figures from the 70's - 00's take up what seems like half of the store's case/shelf areas. The area for playing card games can only handle 16 people at the moment but they have plans to open an Event Center soon! Very exciting for Pokemon/Magic/Yugioh/Digimon/Flesh and Blood players! (and maybe more in the future I presume). While the store is very well maintained and staffed with kind people who love the things they sell. The prices seem a bit high and the selection for popular items seems diminished by things I would personally think sells better on eBay. I'm very excited for their future and think everyone should keep an eye on them as they grow! read more

I called and asked if I could exchange for another card but was told I can't exchange. Mind you, I was just here an hour ago. What kind of terrible policy is this? This is probably the San Jose comic store that's hard to kill. I've seen this place pop up in so many different locations, and I've even checked out their liquidation sales in the past. But I give this place 2 stars mainly because it doesn't have the best comic book selection and their products tend to be overpriced. I went to the Oakride location today and asked about the cost of a Japanese toy that didn't have a price tag. The lady helping me was super friendly, and she tried figure out a price for the toy by checking eBay. When she couldn't find the figure's listing on eBay, she then called the manager who took about 10 minutes to find the item on eBay, then called her back. When I was told about the price, I searched for the toy on eBay and found that the manager had priced the toy $10 more than the eBay listing. What the hell? I can understand a small business like this trying to turn a profit, but there was an entire 10-15% sale the entire store, yet you're gonna try to overcharge me during a sale time/during Black Friday weekend? Also what kind of manager uses eBay as a price guide and has their employees call them for this? Have some knowledge about your products! It's nice to have a comic store in the mall, but I just wish it wasn't one that was as ridiculous as this one. read more

This is one of the smaller Legends locations and it has a selection of TCGs, figures, comics, manga, and other anime merch. They have a very limited supply (especially for card singles), but that is probably because they are about to move into a bigger location 2 doors down. As for the staff, the lady who usually works here is super friendly and nice. The guy employees I've dealt with..not so much. I called in one time to ask if they had a product and was told "No" and he promptly hung up. Getting card singles here is a bit of mixed bag as well. It might be the inexperience of the employee or particular employees specialize in other things, but often times they are inconsistent with how they grade their cards. They would call Near-Mint or Light Play and I would find creases, scratches or wear after closer inspection. One time, I was interested in a more expensive card. The employee scoffed at me a bit and told me the price. I told him I was still interested and asked about the condition. He took a quick glance at it and told me it was NM. I asked if I could take a closer look, but he did not allow me to hold the card in my own hands even in the toploader. So it was an awkward experience to try and look for wear, scratches, etc. from 5 ft. out asking him to move the card to different angles in his hand. I understand not wanting customers to potentially damage an expensive card, but I feel like it is a huge no-no to not allow them to confirm condition especially with the mentality of a collector in mind. I do understand people being wary and humans not being perfect when it comes to grading, but these two experiences along with a limited selection made my experiences at this location lackluster. I'm willing to visit after they move to their new location and hope things improve! read more

Much better location than their Eastridge counterpart. I have had nothing but positive experiences from Legends Oakridge. I appreciate how they pre priced their Pokémon singles so that I could quickly get in and out of the store. The Eastridge location took forever to check prices of singles on TCG Player or EBay. It is solid for good stock and packs are about average, but the boxes (for Pokémon) are crazy expensive, like 2-3x Pokémon center price. It's crazy expensive but it is nearby and everything else is great, so I am not going to absolutely hate it. In the end of the day, if you want to buy in store, it is not too bad. read more

The store is pretty cool, but their manga selection isn't that big. If you're wanting read and collect manga, I highly recommend Kinokuniya in Saratoga. Additionally, some of the male employees are pretty rude and stuck up. I went in asking about something specific THREE times before someone actually helped me. I asked two male employees and both just blew me off and said they didn't have the item. I went in a third time and was helped by a kind young woman. She told me she could take down my number and let me know when the item would be in stock. Kinda sucks that only one person was able to help me :/ read more
