Remodel and post-COVID recovery seems to have restored this Columbia icon's vitality. Great family atmosphere on the Sunday after church that we attended. Starting with the fresh brewed unsweetened tea (we are from the north where iced tea isn't 50% sugar water), and the delicious hot yeast rolls and cinnamon. The Sirloin tips, loaded baked potato, and pencil thin baby asparagus was all cooked perfectly and served on a 500 degree skillet piping hot. The tips were cooked perfectly, tender and juicy. My wife's wedge salad was a generous wedge and with ample bro, tomato, and blue cheese dressing. Everything was hit, fresh, and seasoned perfectly. We finished with a coconut cream cheesecake that we shared. I have to add that previously in 2022 we had come here post COVID, and would have agreed with the 2.5 stars then but Legends has clearly worked on their game. Burgers are pretty meaty and tasty. They skimp on their fries which I do t understand. You don't encourage return customers by saving pennies on fries. Shakes were not like I was expecting, just ok. We have lived here for 20 plus years so we have eaten at Legends in Columbia,TN before renovations and after. I really like the update. We have had excellent service and bad service.......But last night, we decided to go to a sit down for a good meal. Just wanted a quiet nice meal. We were seated right away along a wall with bench seats to back. There were people seated on our left and right. They were eating and had been served something to eat. We waited quite a while before anyone came to receive us, take our drink order & bring rolls with plates is the usual fare. But that didn't happen. When the young man came he mumbled something I am not sure what it was. He always apologized throughout this ordeal. But he never did get any better in his service. We got the rolls first no plates, then much later the water ( he took our order when we told him about our drinks) and then we waited and waited. We ordered two pretty simple meals, Salmon (plain) , one with baked potato and butter, one with broccoli (regular butter)and two salads with blue cheese and ranch. He was busy waiting on all the tables along the wall, pausing to talk with the table to our left for quite awhile. The table next to us, on right had to ask for silverware, napkins, drink refills. All along the restaurant was not that busy. Pretty quiet. They were plenty of people to seat and clean the tables, serve the food and wait on other tables. The young manager was seen walking around. So the long time we had to wait for our food was confusing. When finally it arrived the entree, we had not received our salads, my husband stated we haven't even got our salads yet and no sooner said, the salads came after the entree. He said to the young lady with the entree's "take them back" our food will get cold while we eat our salad. The young lady boldly and loudly said" No I can't do that". And my husband said yes you will, which again she said boldly and loudly "no I can't do that". I was ready to stand up & grab my jacket and leave when she said seeing we were not going to back down " Can I get the Manager?". We said yes. Which immediately he sent them back and we ate our salads then waited for our entree. The new entree came and before that he brought out the old one packaged up to take home instead of throwing it out, Thought that was nice. But when new entree came, the salmon was undercooked raw, on my husbands plate, the middle was cold. He called manager over and they cooked it in microwave for a few. it was still undercooked. By then peaceful quiet meal was gone and we both had lost our appetite. (Moral of this story: guess you have to make sure you ask your server for your salads before entree. OR maybe just not go back.) *Let me add today's prices for either fast food or sit down dinners have gone up substantially for both restaurant managers and diners so maybe see that your server staff are considerate with your patrons. Let me start off by saying the service was not bad. However, that was the only positive I can say. Their special today happened to be prime rib, and what I got was actually prime rib from the special last week - because it was a hockey puck. We also ordered the Cajun pasta which came out just as plain pasta. Everything about this place was reminiscent of a business that has been in business too long. I received a couple gift cards from a family member, so we decided to journey and check this place out. In the original wrapper from the restaurant, one of the gift cards was not charged when purchased, and they said their system was down so they couldn't determine if it was charged again or even at all and it was likely their mistake, but I would need to come back again in order to get it fixed. If my experience was so bad, the first time, why would anyone want to go back again. If this is your only option to eat, clean the bottom of your shoe. It's likely better. read more

The food here is excellent and they've been a staple in this town for decades but recently the service has suffered in drive through. Although the coconut cream cheesecake is out of this world the service that is received not once but twice is not worth the treatment that was received. It's sad when the manager, Columbia location today, walks by you and does not ask if you've been helped. Plus the one server who brought out to go food that passed my husband just like the manager. Just gross. The good: Very friendly and sweet waitress who helped us navigate gluten allergies. If you have a gluten allergy, this is NOT the place for you. We also love the historic photos throughout the restaurant. The bad: ordered a baked potato and steamed broccoli. With a gluten allergy, this was the safest bet. The potato was hard and under cooked and the broccoli was hard and dirty. How do you screw these up? Kids ordered potato skins and grilled cheese. Amateur hour for both of these. Too much cheese, bread not toasted and the skins were overcooked, flat and burnt. Looked very unappealing. Ordered shakes to go, and they took about twenty minutes. Sat under an air vent which was blowing directly on us and our food. Who knows how dirty that air is. We gave this place a chance as it's open on Sundays and on our way home. But never again. Went there Sunday for lunch with my husband and daughter. waited an hour for our lunch and then they delivered my husband and daughter's food but never brought mine.. I waited a few more minutes and then we caught my waiter and asked when my food would be coming... He said what did you order and looked at his paper... then said oh we are out of pork chops... even though they brought my husband some. I said no one told me and if it is gonna take another hour to fix it then don't worry, I will go home and eat.. He said ok... then when he brought the ticket he said.. sorry about your food, I don't know what happened... Terrible customer service... Just no. I had visited the Legends location in Smyrna, and it was fine. Dirty dining room floors, surrounding tables not bussed, and the food was not good. I had a side salad that was watery and gross with TONS of dried onions on top, and a tough, wrong color pork chop. The baked sweet potato was OK. I also hate it when a restaurant puts everyone seated close together when they are slow, especially when there's a booth of four very loud diners really cracking themselves up for a really long time. Tried the Legends Restaurant again tonight with a party of four. This time was much better. We arrived at 5 pm and was seated immediately. Our waitress was very prompt and attentive. I ordered the smothered chicken. It was a generous portion of chicken smothered in mushrooms and cooked onions. It was delicious. I ordered onion rings for my side and they were okay. My wife had the sirloin and baked potato- she remarked that it was excellent. Our side salads were delicious and the perfect side. Our guest shared a chicken pasta dish which was plenty for both. LBs was half capacity and food was being brought out to a table at that moment. I asked again if I could just get a beer and was told again "we are closed". We left, checked the door. Twice before tonight we have had our to go order be wrong upon pickup and tonight we arrived at the restaurant at the designated pickup time and were told they had run out of one of the items we had ordered and had not even started the cooking process. We cancelled the order and will not be returning. The amount of money spent on their renovation only to still provide mediocre service is unacceptable. We've been wanting to eat at Legends for awhile. Curb appeal is great so wondering what the inside is like and more important, what the food is like! It being a busy night in Columbia with the parade and tree lighting we wanted to check the wait time. So a quick phone call.. hostess answered with, "Thank you for calling Legends, would you like to place a to-go order". Why is that how they're answering the phone? Do they not want us there? First off, I'm not sure who's idea it was to spend all of the money on a facelift for this place and not work on how bad the food is or how slow the service is... maybe that's why I'm not in the service industry. We arrived at Legends at 5pm and were seated immediately (there's your 1 star). Our waitress took our drink order and then left us to look at the menu. She immediately returned (maybe 2 minutes later) and asked us if we had had enough time to look over the menu. I don't think any of us knew what we wanted but we went ahead and winged it. It was now 5:20 or so and we had our drinks. My wife and I ordered salads to go with our meal, expecting them to be brought out before the meals arrived. 5:30 comes and goes, no salads. 5:45 comes and goes still no salads and we all 3 sat with empty drink glasses. 6:00 goes by and I think at this point we all had refills. Still no salads or food. It wasn't until 6:17 (an hour and 17 minutes after we arrived) that my wife finally got her wedge salad, which was just a cut of head of lettuce with everything on the side... my wife finishes most of her salad and gives me the rest since mine hadn't come out yet. 6:30 comes goes, still no salad for myself or food for the table. I believe it was around 6:40 that our food finally comes out but no waitress in sight to ask about my salad. When we finally see her I asked her if I could get my salad since I never got it before the meal. The waitress tries to convince me that I already got my salad earlier. I had to explain to her that my wife was nice enough to let me have some of her salad since none of the other food had come out. I ordered the prime rib, medium rare. Medium rare steaks take 5-5.5 minutes per side to cook. I waited easily an hour and 20 minutes for my steak. My wife had a ribeye and my son had a sirloin... all medium rare and all of which took well over an hour to cook. On top of that, my wife's steak had absolutely no flavor. I don't think I've ever actually had a steak not taste like anything. My son said the fries were decent. The baked potatoes that my wife and I got were hard and cold when they finally came out. Columbia doesn't have much to offer as far as good restaurants so we were hopeful with all of the money legends spent on fixing up their building, they would have improved on the quality of food and service but apparently that was not in the budget. If anyone reads this review and you are halfway accustomed to decent restaurants, please don't waste your time going here for a decent meal. Oh, the best part, our meal was $88.44 for 3 of the worst steaks I've probably ever had from any restaurant. Make that worst meals and worst service. Do better guys read more

...there is a new look to Legends both inside and out...but the old Legends continues to exist regarding the interaction between the customer and the waitstaff...I have dined here numerous times over the many years that it has been here in Columbia...the food is often times served tepid and or unavailable only after your order is placed...this is what we experienced, once again, on Sunday September 19, 2021...the dining room on that day was not crowded, nor did there seem to be a lack of waitstaff...it will be a very long time before I dine there again...change my mind...please... read more

Definitely not my favorite place to go in columbia for a couple of reasons. The big thing is how outdated the inside is. They have carpet and that just grosses me out because I know how gross carpet gets. Also, the food is good but not anything great. They have a rather basic menu. I really enjoy Legends for lunch. I love the mozzarella cheese sticks, the french onion soups, the salads with homemade dressings ( love the thousand island) and the super cheap meat & two that is filling and good. My absolute favorite here is the strawberry cake, served warm...absolutely melt in your mouth frosting and little piece of strawberry in the cake batter. My husband got me a whole cake of it for my birthday and it was amazing. I like their barbecue sauce...love to get the filet mignon and dip it in the sauce. The potato casserole is good, the fried okra is great, I enjoy some of the other sides as well. For dinner it is expensive for my family of 7. In Columbia, it's a good date night. The staff is about half and half...we have had some amazing wait staff here and a few who could work on their customer service skills. read more
