We have been going here for several years and it used to be one of my favorite places for take out. Unfortunately something has changed (in a not so good way). I don't know if it sold and there is new ownership but the food is not nearly as delicious as it used to be. I always get the chicken plate and when I've had it the past few times the chicken has been dry, flavorless and not as juicy as it used to be. It doesn't even look the same. It used to be amazing. The rice doesn't have the same flavor and the pita bread has been burnt and dried out (2 times now). It also takes forever to get your food. I am so disappointed. This Gyro place was very typical. Small shop with a couple of tables. I placed my to-go order and waited over 15 minutes during a late lunch. The food was fine. As I watched, they got out only 4 or 5 orders in 15 minutes. I have never been to a Gyro shop this slow. read more

We're recent transplants from the D.C. area and were amazed tonight to find this great Greek place. My wife and I agree that the gyros (huge with delicious lamb and pita bread) and the baklava (homemade, flakey, nutty) were the best we've had anywhere. Also extremely inexpensive despite the high quality. I look forward to trying out their spinach pies. The man behind the counter who took our order and served us was kind, knowledgable, and solicitous. The gyros came out fast and hot. I gave it 5/5 for atmosphere, too, because it was clean, safe, cool (for late July), genuine and unpretentious. I'm addicted to this place! I LOVE Greek food to start. Let me say, this place has a limited selection and I love that because they are able to focus on making what they have DELICIOUS. I usually get either falafel or the Chicken Gyro platter. My husband gets the same or Lamb. You get the meat, warm pita (which is ), rice and salad. It is so reasonable for the meal (especially with today's prices) without sacrifing quality. No, I do not know the owner (when meet them I'll gladly shake their hand). And this is not a paid review (but I'll except some baklava, J's). Btw, besides the taste, quality, and price...it's super easy to order online which is a BIG plus for me. read more

The food is great, I recommend the fajita gyro or the Philly cheesesteak gyro. It isn't the traditional choice, but the peppers and onions really add a lot. The staff are very nice. The service has a sort of east coast feel to it. If you aren't used to that you might take it the wrong way. Talk to them, they can't read your mind. The only thing I would change is I would love a real Taziki sauce instead of the ranch version. Maybe too many people asked for ranch when they opened? I think the traditional version would be much appreciated now. Overall I highly recommend this restaurant and I hope they stay in Columbia for many years. This pains me to write as we have always loved the food here...the food is good! However, during lunch today I saw something that I can't unsee and as a result can't eat there again. As I was eating my meal I saw the cook (older man, early 60's, possibly the owner) in the kitchen window eating/chewing on something...no big deal to me. Whatever it was it must have been dry and needed some tzatziki. The guy grabbed the squirt bottle of tzatziki, put the spout "in his mouth" and squeezed it. I couldn't believe what I saw!! I have an iron gut and can eat just about anything. So much so that even if he would've just kept it out of his mouth and squirted it in I'd just shake my head and could live with it but no, the spout went into his mouth. I guess my Mediterranean food eating out will have to be from Pyramid in the Cool Springs Mall food court from here on out. read more

Working in town with a colleague and we decided on trying a local place rather than a chain. This place is not fancy by any stretch of the imagination. But our food was excellent! Walked in, directly in front, a counter with a menu board and pictures of the meals. Wide variety of dinners and sandwich plates. I ordered the gyro platter, which was fresh pita slices, a large portion of meat with yogurt sauce on it, sitting on a bed of rice and a small salad. Also ordered the baklava. All I can say is, place may not look like a big, fancy restaurant, but the food more than makes up for that! One of the best Yelp! surprises I've encountered!! New ownership and this place has gone downhill. Portions are skimpier, quality is lower. $5 for a 1/3 cup of tabouleh? Gyro meat tastes like it came out of a can. Asked for no sauce on gyro but they slathered it on the rice, which I've never seen at any "Greek" place before. Only positive is the guy up front is reasonably nice. Place just feels shady now and food and portions are unacceptable. Won't be back, more than likely. read more

Hadn't grabbed a gyro here since 2020. I actually stopped eating out when the plandemic hit. People in general were a hot mess and many restaurant's were struggling to get food items in general. Copious substitutions were being made for food items that were unavailable at several eateries. Well, today after years of not eating out anywhere in Columbia, TN, I chose Pita Plus. The service was very good. I was immediately acknowledged once staff saw I had entered the restaurant. Everything appeared clean. The drink station was well stocked and there was no shortage of napkins, lids, cups, flatware and straws. I ordered a gyro combo. I chose a gyro sandwich with meat and onion. I also ordered extra cucumber sauce on the side. I selected French fries and I aimed to wash it all down with a carbonated beverage. After I placed my order, I was told to take a seat. I was informed I could pay after eating. I grabbed a cup and filled it with ice and Dr. Pepper. The Dr. Pepper was a little flat and lacked the zing you get with the usual soft drink, but I was ok with that as it wasn't bad to drink. When my food was ready, the same nice man who took my order also brought my food. I saw a hearty looking pita filled with plenty of meat. Not much onion, but I was okay with that; what I didn't care for was the "sauce." It tasted like ranch dressing not tzatziki cucumber sauce you get on gyros from Chicago and New York. In fact, there was no cucumber flavor at all and no cucumber shavings. This must be a Tennessee thing as real gyros come with tzatziki - never ranch dressing. Ranch dressing on a gyro? Eww. I tolerated the sandwich. I was hungry. I received a large helping of fries, but I couldn't eat them. I don't know if the chemical taste was from the fries themselves or if it was from the oil they are bathed in for cooking? They were awful. I couldn't get past eating the fourth one, so I left the full carton of fries just sitting there. I was in no mood to complain. It's not worth it. I just won't be gong back. Tennessee, you seriously need to improve when it comes to gyros. Most "Greek" restaurants in this state are seriously missing the boat when it comes to authentic gyro sandwiches as tzatziki is THE staple and THE sauce that sets the sandwich above all others. read more
