There's a lot that's wrong with this place. So, the food. Our party ordered a steak sandwich that was 1/8" thick and 20% gristle and a burger which had caned mushrooms and something like cheese wiz on it. Everything product they use is as cheap as money can buy and yet they somehow manage to charge you more than an average price for simple food. Like McCain Super Fries? GOOD NEWS! Based on the food and price alone, don't eat here. The staff. The waitresses have this dead eyed look going on that makes you really question if life is worth living. We ordered a coffee and a coke to drink and in the 20 minutes we waited to get our food we finished em... no refills. Ever. Everything about this place will make you sad. 'Tourist trap' is too kind, think 'up-scale dumpster diving and depression'. Stick to the Subway across the street. read more

I can't have soy or gluten, so I expected to be pretty hungry when I left. The watiress (lip ring) totally figured out what I could and couldn't have though - checked the spray on the grill. checked dressings, etc. She went above and beyond. While they totally don't advertise it, they have some amazing locally made gluten free bread on hand, which I ordered an extra two slices of because it was so tasty. They even sold us a banana so we could feed our baby. The service of this waitress, and the bread, totally made this visit for us. read more

I think I'm being generous.... the food was ok, at best. I had the pork chops, my wife had the beef dip. *** I'm a red Seal cook, and in food sales, so I've seen a lot of different products in my time*** that being said, I saw almost all the cheater products here. The soup I had was supposed to be made in house, it was turkey rice.... I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it was one of those Campbell's frozen soups, the salt content was a bit of a tell for me as was the perfect shape of the carrots and every piece of celery was perfectly thin. For the average consumer this stop would be an ok meal I think, decent portions. I really think the owners could do a better job with their food. My meal came with 2 thin pork chops (t-bone), decent taste; 2 scoops of McCain's garlic mash from a bag, frozen carrots that were reheated, and a pre-buttered and frozen garlic bread that had been heated to brown. My wife's meal was a decent meal as well. What looked like real roast beef on a toasted bun, au jus (typically restaurants use a powdered mix that's high in sodium, and I doubt these guys were different), and soft fries ( my personal guess is that they were the cheapest brand from Gordon Foodservice or sysco). I find it interesting that the music selection is modern, considering this is supposed to be a 50's diner... everything else about the decor of this place says 50's, including one of the wait staff that may have been alive during that era, but she was super friendly. She did however, bring our bill before we'd finished eating. A big put off for me, if I haven't finished my meal yet, and your restaurant is only 25% full at supper time, then you should be encouraging every penny out of me you can!! It boasts your tips on the end! Flat out the owners here are too concerned about the bottom line and not your experience or tastes. Considering how few customers were there at 5:30pm on a Tuesday on a busy highway town, I'd guess they could be making more food in house and ordering more raw ingredients and learning how to cook and not re-heat, or change the theme of the restaurant to be more in line with their business model. I ate with a large group of Asian children and this was by far the worst restaurant experience of my life. We come into the restaurant at around 9pm and ask about the unlimited pasta special. Alright, our bad for showing up near closing (their takeout menu claims the closing is 11pm, but the manager later claimed it was "outdated" and actually 10pm) after a long road trip and trying to get our fill of $11.95 pasta for the night. After a long, ~30 minute wait (I'll cut them some slack for being near closing time) they bring out our orders and the initial bowls of spaghetti with either meat sauce or meat sauce and cheese. We chow down, food at this point is standard fare. It's not terrible by any means but by far the best experience of the night. We ordered four infinite pasta bowls, and after getting three bowls (this is unlimited pasta remember? So 3 bowls is literally just the first three orders of pasta) the server turns to us and informs us that they're out of spaghetti. Nothing else, no offer to reimburse us for part of it or even a sorry for this "minor" inconvenience. I asked to speak with the manager and as soon as I leave the server (a grown woman) turns to my group of 12-17 year old kids and asks "what's that guy's problem"? Red flag #1 for poor service. I speak to the manager, and politely inform him about how we only received one bowl each, and that each of us could have eaten at least an extra bowl. Therefore, I offer to pay half for each of the bowls and full menu price for everything else we ordered (and received). He immediately dismisses me and says "no." Not even an explanation or a sorry, just "no." After finally getting our 4th bowl of spaghetti, I start trying to track down the manager and get a proper response. I re-explain the situation and all he does is try to cut me off with "so you're paying full price," "no deal," and other such phrases. He threatens to call the police on us, but he doesn't actually do so when we call his bluff and tell him "sure, call the police." He tries telling us he'll comp one bowl and that's it. I insist on comping two bowls and he finally acquiesces. But not before saying that "we always get problems with Asian customers, something about not wanting to pay." Completely unacceptable restaurant service, and frankly something that is unacceptable anywhere. He charges us the 50% off and tells us to get out and never come back again. If you're stopping by the area, go to the local McDonald's instead of this 1950's-esque retro American diner complete with the atmosphere of 1950's racism. read more

We used to stop here for an interesting Diner experience. It was the go-to place to stop driving Calgary to Vancouver. There are obviously new owners. Ambience was completely gone and food quality and service were mediocre-at-best. Such a disappointment as it was always a favorite. read more

This place is pretty interesting. 50's style diner, with booths, formica, metal rimmed stools and lots of pink. We had lunch, me patty melt and soup of the day (lentil) and my wife had a salad and soup. The soup was very good, as was the salad. The patty melt was so-so. We ordered ice tea and it came sweetened. I still can't get used to that. It was fun eating here as the decor was really entertaining. read more

We were on our way to bc and I was craving fries and saw this place and decided to try them out... Walked in there and I got a server to serve me right away, I was in a hurry so I just asked her for a large fries to go and I the service was great, the energy of the place was great, and all the cool collectible old muscle cars was definetly nice to look at while I was waiting for my food. Solid little diner. My husband had the special which was steak and lasagna. He ordered the steak medium and got it well done, but this seems like the sort of place where you'd get well done no matter what you asked for. I had a burger and fries which were good but nothing extraordinary. Exactly what I expected. The waitress was super sweet, called us "hun" and brought out toys for our nine month old and played with her a little. Funky 50's decor with candy available for purchase and also those model car deals and t shirts. Tiny bathroom, my knees hit the stall door and I'm not a tall person. All in all, I would eat here again, it beats fast food crap down the highway. read more

The WORST restaurant in Golden and on Trans Canada Highway!!!! If you want a case of FOOD POISONING please order any of their food. I ate their at 4 pm and by the time I came home 4 hours later I had a bad run to the toilet 3 times and major stomach cramps. Missed 2 days of work! When I declined to pay for it my CC and did a charge back they declined it because I had authorized with my pin number, they must have assumed that I should have known at that time that I would be sick. Pretty lousy service from MNBA! They act on the behalf of the merchant rather than me their customer! Just a VERY bad experience and warning others what can happen to you at their restaurant. read more

Filthy floors that the waitress did not clean even when it was a hazard. Uninspired food, all out of packages. When I requested an extra package of dressing for my dry tuna salad they said there would be a 70 cent charge! This was an 11$ salad made of iceberg lettuce and little else. I can't say that I was impressed with this place. This review is based on the special they were offering for the day. I perused the menu and felt like trying the fish burger. I asked the waitress if it was good and she said she had never tried it. That should have been a red flag right there. So I ordered the fish burger that indicated on the menu as "a lightly battered piece of cod", the waitress offered the special which was a fish burger with fries and clam chowder which I took. When my food had arrived I couldn't believe my eyes, the "battered cod" was a measly frozen fish patty that you can buy from the grocery store. The waitress came by and asked if everything was ok and I advised that I thought the fish burger was going to be a piece of cod, she only then advised that the special is actually pollock. She did offer me the cod instead as a replacement, I asked if it was also a frozen patty, she replied that they are all frozen patties. So I didn't eat my burger, it was disgusting. I ate my fries and gravy instead. At time of the bill, the waitress didn't apologize or anything, just advised that they "discounted" the meal and comped my pop. The discount? 25%........a measly $2.75 was taken off my bill, I still paid $9.50 for my meal. That would be $9.50 for some fries and gravy. Needless to say we won't be back. read more

I'll give this diner 5 stars for the decor but only 2.5 stars for the food. Came here on Xmas day, cause my uncle wanted to have a group Xmas dinner with both my family before we split ways for our different destinations on road trips. It was the first time I've ever been in a diner, and the interior was amazing, never seen anything like it before. The waitress was friendly and dressed festively. Now regarding them food, I think we must have ordered items that weren't their speciality, irony is that the items we ordered was listed under diner specialities. If you are going togo for diner specialities, choose the soup appetizer instead of the salad. The soup was good, the salad looks like a kid made it. It's in a small bowl with itty bitty bits of lettuce, and cauliflower. The fish and chips I ordered , were edible, that's the best I can say. The cod and the crinkle fries were a bit overdone. I would go back to this diner again on future road trips , but I would get a burger instead and a milkshake. the price was cheap, my uncle spent $126 for 7 people. Service is a tad slow, but the atmosphere was worth it. read more

I really don't have anything to say that is bad. As I have read in some other reviews it's typical diner food. Nothing that special. Our server was very pleasant and did a good job. We used to eat here all the time about ten years ago when we lived in Lake Louise. We stopped in on a road trip and could tell by how bad the food was that it had changed owners. The pies where no longer homemade but greasy oily ones you would buy in the cheapest grocery store and the sandwiches and burgers were dry and tasteless. To the people that bought it, if you have no idea how to cook don't buy a business that requires it. The only way this place is going to keep going is because of unknowing tourists passing through.
