I walked in without knowing much about Rockwater, but I thought at the least I could grab a cold beer. Instead, I stumbled on a gem! The bar staff were kind and welcoming, and I felt like a regular the second I walked in. The beer selection was great and I went with a dry hopped sour. What surprised me most was the food! I had the buffalo cauliflower to start and the portion was so large I barely made a dent. They were fried well and very saucy. I went on the pasta of the day recommendation for my main which was a cacio e pepe tortellini and it was delicious, a filling dinner after a day of mountain hiking. I would recommend this place to all travelers looking for a comfortable place to have a good bite! read more

I had the Pulled Pork Poutine. It is the best poutine I've ever had. Great service as well considering we weren't buying any alcoholic drinks. Definitely a bar atmosphere which isn't for me, but great if that's your thing. read more

Interesting place with two opposite sides. There is the interior tavern which is dark and a little rusty and then there is this marvellous patio with flower baskets on the river. In summer the patio is the place to be. Simple menu. The grilled chicken and pulled pork sandwiches were very good. Pulled pork had cabbage and cheese. The house salad has vinaigrette, tomatoes, and beet slivers. 16 beers on tap. I highly recommend the Wit beer. read more

Their website specifically mentions how they "cater to large groups" but our experience was the opposite. We walked in at 8:45pm (they're open until 12am) we were a group of 7 stopping in for a drink and to order takeout for our family group of 15 after a long day on the river. Our plan was to order a few appetizers for everyone ti share. We were immediately met with attitude from one of the bartenders saying they won't accommodate a take out order that large because they "don't want to put the added pressure on the kitchen" yet, when we asked if we could order food for the table and then take it in to-go boxes, she said "you can do whatever you want with the food once it hits the table" The bar was EMPTY. We wanted to sit at the bar but the. We're told "we'd prefer you sit down at a table, it's easier for us" So, we ordered 1 drink and ended up ordering food from the restaurant Nextdoor. We almost considered walking out because the service was THAT horrible. Wouldn't recommend coming here if you have more than a 4-person family. Apparently "big groups" are too stressful for an empty restaurant. They should really assess their service or change their website. For what it's worth, 2 of the other servers were very nice but for some reason, the one we encountered first just didn't want to give us the time of day. When we asked for a food menu at the bar, she told us no- and said to ask our table server... Really disappointing because everywhere else we have been here in Golden has had absolutely fantastic service and food! read more

Came here during a recent trip to Yoho National Park. We sat outside by the river which had a really nice view. Ordered the calamari as an appetizer and it was ok. We each ordered poutine-- portion was huge. I had the mushroom and thought it was pretty good, the mushrooms were flavorful and cooked well. My husband had the maple bacon poutine and felt it was just ok. Server was friendly and quick. Overall a nice dinner. read more

The drinks were awesome! The blueberry sour was great! Tasty and generously poured. The beer selection was good as well. The dirty dog was very good - the right balance of flavors but the amount of bun was excessive. I took the sausage out and enjoyed it better. Stopped here after an incredible pow day at Kicking Horse and it was exactly what i was craving. The beef dip was seriously so good, and the poutine was the best I've had yet. Our server Lex was great too. My partner said he really enjoyed his bison burger but it was gone before i had a chance to try it. 100% would stop here again! read more

Cute little pub in Golden. Great patio! On our journey back from BC, we stopped to meet a friend that lived in the area. He picked here. Pretty dark inside, but great patio, with a view of the river. And for those that smoke, you can smoke on the patio. I went to duck confit salad, which was ok. The salad was good, the duck was pretty greasy. And they were out of cider, which was frustrating. My Husband and I had dinner here the other night. Meal portions were more like lunch. I had Vietnamese Chicken Sub, with not very much chicken in it. More bun than filling. Side green salad had dressing seemingly made up only of olive oil. My husband had steak sandwich that had sliced steak on top of a slice of toasted bread, again not very much of it. Fries with it were decent, but small amount. The waitress provided mediocre service, she seemed bored with her job. I would have liked to try the Tuna Niçoise salad, but when I asked if a slice of bread or anything came with it she simply said no. The washrooms were dark, and who knows why the wall soap dispensers were lying on the sink counter. The only thing this place has going for it is the outdoor patio near the roadside and river, but it's not appealing enough to bring us back. read more

We walked around for a bit in Golden trying to find a place to eat and stumbled up the Rockwater. It was fantastic! Fresh food, clean, friendly staff. We had kids with us and they had a good kids menu and crayons etc to keep them occupied. Husband had a clubhouse and I had the taco salad. Fresh ingredients and lots of flavour. Would definitely go back if we end up in Golden again. Husband said he would come back when he sleds in Golden. read more
