This is long but detailed, so I encourage you to read on if you want to have mold remediation done the right way, and not be paying for costly additional repairs, on top of the hefty charges you'll get from Epic. Epic Mold came out in the summer of 2017 to work on my attic. After they removed all of their ladders and equipment from my hallway and left the house, I noticed that they had marked up the paint job on my interior hallway wall. I took pictures and called Epic. They sent the contractors back to clean the wall, but there were a couple of dents left behind in the drywall. A few days later, as we were doing some work on the back side of the house, we noticed that there was a large area of shingles -- about 4 feet wide and 1 foot high -- that had been splattered by white paint. This was the paint Epic used inside the attic; the high-pressure sprayers apparently blew the paint out through the soffits. I took pictures and called Epic. They dodged the calls over several days. Only after repeat calls from both my husband and me did they agree to send out a contractor to fix the damaged shingles, but wanted me to go out and purchase the materials. I refused, and insisted they purchase the materials and complete the work themselves, since they caused the problem. After more back-and-forth, they finally agreed. This part of the repair was completed about 6 weeks after the initial remediation work. In the interim, the motor on the attic fan failed. The electrician who was sent out to do the repair -- and who was rude and condescending, and made it clear he didn't enjoy speaking to a female -- noted that the original team had sprayed paint all over (and, one would guess, into) the motor case, which had likely caused it to fail. A year later, during heavy summer rains, my interior ceiling began leaking, right below the new fan Epic installed. Now completely fed up with Epic's poor-quality workmanship, I called a roofing contractor. He took photos and confirmed that Epic never installed shingles or any other form of long-term protection around the new fan; they simply cut a hole in the rolled-rubber portion of the roof and caulked around the boot. Of course, the caulk had eroded over time. Last year, Epic charged me about $3,000 for the work they did. They ended up sending me a $200 refund check for my troubles last summer, but this year I have paid an additional $300 to repair their errors, and I still need to repair the damage to the interior ceiling, thanks to their negligence. The quality of their work can't be trusted; I'd look elsewhere, and consider paying more if you need to, if it means getting the job done right.
