I was injured at work and therefore hired a well -known law firm to represent me against my employer to ensure I received proper medical care. After one year I sought a different law firm to represent me because it was clear to me I deserved better in the form of an attorney representing my best interest. That's when I read attorney, Mr. Scott Silberman's biography and I knew in my heart that is who I needed to represent me the best way in my Workers Compensation claim. Almost immediately I met attorney, Mrs. Sheryl Lam and boy your life will never be the same. She is a fire cracker who tells you how she and her team will aggressively represent you. she doesn't bullshit. Mrs. Lam represented me and my best interest to the fullest. The team at the Law firm of Silverman & Lam and yes they work as a team; very organized each and every step of the way on your injury claim. After you do, they will never again reach out proactively. I initiated every communication and was frequently ignored. Their go-to line is that if you don't hear from them it's because they are busy working on your behalf. This false message is meant to make you stay quiet. Despite my requests to speak with a paralegal or attorney, I never did. All communication was routed through an intake manager, which is a way for them to avoid accountability for the false and misleading information they give you. I received inconsistent and often contradictory information -- particularly around the communication with the insurance company. It became clear over time that the goal was to make me feel like my case had little value so I would be relieved to accept whatever low offer they put in front of me. They drag the process out, prioritizing quantity of cases over quality of representation. Months pass with little communication, bills pile up, and you grow exhausted and desperate. By the time an offer comes, you have been worn down to the point where you will accept whatever they "negotiate". They will not take your case to court -- that takes time and effort that does not fit their model. They told me that if I wanted to pursue a lawsuit with another firm then I should expect to pay upfront for representation. This is false. Personal injury attorneys work on contingency. That statement was either ignorant or intentionally misleading. I fired this firm. If you are hurt and want someone to preserve your rights and best interest, look elsewhere. Initially, I felt confident based on the firm's marketing and the promises made during the intake process. However, after I signed the retainer agreement, communication became a significant issue. Emails, phone calls, and text messages often went unanswered, and I frequently had to follow up multiple times just to receive a response. As the injured worker, I was simply trying to stay informed and actively involved in my own case. I don't think anyone had a greater interest in achieving a favorable outcome than I did. Despite that, I often felt like my concerns were being dismissed rather than addressed. One conversation with attorney Ruben Montoya particularly stood out. After I had made several attempts to contact the office regarding concerns about my case, I finally received a call. During that conversation, I felt more criticized for trying to communicate than supported as a client. I was repeatedly told that "it's not instant soup" and that he was "not a magician." While I understand that legal matters take time, those comments left me feeling dismissed and unheard. I also experienced long delays in receiving medical treatment. At one point, I went more than six months without treatment related to my work injury. The doctor I was referred to was approximately an hour from my home, and appointments often involved waiting for extended periods before being seen. When I raised concerns about retaliation and other issues affecting my claim, I was told another attorney would contact me to discuss them, but that never happened. I also attempted to discuss adding additional injuries to my claim and did not receive meaningful follow-up.
