RIDICULOUS! Over the weekend, we bought some legos and paid cash. While at the register, the cashier inspected my $10 bill with a pen and then put it up to the light and was inspecting it carefully...over and over... and over... and over and over and over. Huh? What's going on here? It's not like I handed him a $100 bill? Where am I? K-Momo's ghetto boutique? The liquor store on the corner of Scary and Hood? Hello? I'm at the Lego store in THE WOODLANDS! (aka Fairyland Town USA) I asked what was wrong and he said, "It feels funny". Seriously Kojak? So... after my bill passed the "test" and after my little boy kept asking me, "What's wrong mommy?" while waiting patiently for his toy. The ding-dong cashier concluded it was not fake. Phew! What a relief! This Mommy wasn't handing him phoney money. Where the blank would I get a fake bill? I asked him why he was so suspicious and what incidences occurred here recently? He said there was a woman who came in and gave him several fake $20 bills and that she was given the money by someone she sold an item to (yard sale, Craig's list...who knows). Now, I don't have a problem with cashiers ensuring that fake money is not being accepted but I just hope the practice for inspection is universal and not a lengthy humiliating, ridiculous discriminating process! So... buyer beware... you might have to pass a similar inspection by this knucklehead cashier. Time to clean house. read more

I'm a kid at heart through and through, so when I saw the Lego Store in The Woodlands Mall my eyes lit up. Not going to lie seeing the new summer series set being Star Wars in the window got me even more excited. This isn't the largest Lego Store I have visited, but it definitely does not disappoint. I always like to gawk at the pick your own Lego parts wall, the colors, the infinite possibilities that lie in all the assorted pieces available for the picking. Don't forget the design your own Lego people area, its so hard to just walk by and let the true little kids have their fun, who doesn't want to make a whole community of look alike Lego people! Staff is friendly, always pointing out that they can read the sheer pleasure I get out of the seeing the tiny plastic blocks forming awesome scenes, and also adding their own two cents to not make me feel to embarrassed of my inner nerd. Fun store for both kids and parents to take a breather from the mall shopping madness. read more

Each section has a different Lego theme - and they are adding more all of the time (woot - LoTRs). Seriously, is there anything that Lego has not partnered with or made a model of?? For kids young and old, the Lego store provides cheap thrills (build your own mini-figs) and sets to dream about owning that cost as much as a small laptop. However, Legos can provide much more mind stimulation than just gossip-surfing or addictinggames.com - and they don't even get viruses. Who doesn't need just one more Lego set? Or maybe you're looking for a piece that was lost long ago. Whatever your dreams, desires or needs may be when it comes to little plastic bricks, The Lego Store has got what Lego maniacs yearn for. This place has so many sets, all organized by theme in a very nicely maintained store. Duplo block sets are all in one section, as are the new Junior Lego sets (which I did not even know existed). Every line is represented, and quite a few are on display, fully assembled. Prices are virtually the same as what you would find at any toy store, but by far the selection here is superior. Not only are sets available, but individual pieces are available too. Missing that one helmet? How about the one wheel that will make the car work? Or perhaps the propeller that will complete your plane? They've got it, along with all of the other standard block pieces. What a concept! If you're a Lego lover (or if you have a family member who is), this is a the place to go. Only complaint was that I didn't perceive their employees as being very "Lego savvy." When I mentioned that I had some old vintage pieces and sets (some dating back 30 to 50 years and I even mentioned the sets and pieces by name), she seemed confused, adding that she owned one of the original Harry Potter sets, stating that it was a vintage classic and worth a chunk of money. Hmm. Sets that are only 15 years old are not, in my book, vintage classic Lego. read more

This Lego store s not much different from the one at the Galleria. The setup is pretty much the same. So I see no reason to choose to go to one over the other if you know what you want to buy. If you're not sure about your selections and have a questions , the Galleria store is where you might want to go. I had a difficult time getting the employees attention for some questions I had in the woodlands location. At the Galleria they go to every customer and ask if they need assistance. Other than that. the Woodlands location is just as expensive as the Galleria. read more

I love Legos. If there exists a store that wishes to showcase and sell Legos then I should also love said store! Well I visited the Lego store in the Woodlands mall and, while I may have departed empty handed, I left feeling a little more in touch with my youth and creative side! The staff engages with you the minute you step foot in the door. They are are friendly and oh so helpful! Personally, I think they've got the coolest jobs and I sure don't mind those yellow Lego smocks they have to wear either! Can I have one? Just for fun? The walls are lined with Lego sets for purchase (of course) and pre-assembled sample sets in cases for viewing and (in my case) gawking over. Having just seen the Lego Movie but a few weeks ago, I was extremely stoked on the Lego Movie section, appropriately located near the front of the store! Other rad trinkets and awesome merch are strategically placed around the store; everything you need to get your Lego fix or satisfy a kiddo's Lego needs! There are several spots in the store where you can let your imagination do its thing! Duplo table for tiny hands and assurance that Legos gone rogue in a child's mouth won't get swallowed. Other building space hosts the smaller Lego pieces for older, more dexterous hands! Oh, and I can build myself in Lego form?! Don't mind if I do! $9.99 will get you your own personalized Lego person! Yay! From what I've been told (and gathered from the line of people waiting outside the store as I walked by it much later) Lego offers classes or build-events?! Where do I sign up for said happenings?! While it may not be the largest Lego Store I've ever visited, it's still a treat to have in any mall! read more

This is such a refreshing store for kids and parents. The employees are always friendly and never mind letting the little ones play around. In fact, they encourage it. As a parent, it's a lifesaver. I can use the Lego store as leverage for my son to be good while we're shopping. This alleviates playtime at the mall cesspool playground so I don't mind paying for a small Lego. The more expensive Lego's are saved for Christmas and birthdays but we can usually find a cheap Ninjago or pick-a-brick or around $10. read more
