[[HIGHLIGHT]]Leinie Lodge & Beer Garden is like a green house, but if that green house grew beer lovers. It is a really cool spot, and there is inside seating and a whole large section of covered outside seating[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]In the other section there is a projection TV, huge. In the glass house I was in there are four or so TVs. This would be a cool Sunday football spot[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. There is local craft beer here in abundance. They had enough beer offerings for almost anyone's pallet. Also have wine, spirits and Seltzer. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I came on a drissly, cold Friday afternoon. There were a few other patrons, but the place was slow for business. Better for me, because I pretty much had a server all to myself for the majority of my visit[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I had two local beers, a Belgian and a dark ale. Both were very good. Also ordered wings plain with the sauce on the side. I am really glad I did, because the wings were slightly breaded and more crispy without being sauced. There was no blue cheese so I had ranch (sad). The veggies were carrots and celery which were surprisingly fresh. The weird thing is the wings were all drums, no flats. I will definitely be coming back. I really like this place. Would be a really cool spot to hang out in the summer.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Neat place to have some fun![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It has a creative bar food menu and full bar with some delish cocktails. I tried the cheeseburger tater tots while I was there playing trivia on a Thursday along with a strawberry margarita- nice! I'll be back. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great ambiance with the glass surround.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I came here for their Miracle Christmas Pop Up, so the whole place is decorated with a super fun holiday vibe! They have a special menu for this pop up, with fun drinks like hot buttered rum, mulled wine, and a variety of christmas cocktails. They also have a little food menu, but we ended up not getting any food. The one thing that I found off putting was that we came in during early afternoon, and the place was pretty empty, but the waitress made a point to tell us every time she came up that there was a 90 minute seating limit. I understand when it's busy they need to enforce it, but to be so strict when the place was mostly empty was quite odd.

Just when I finally finish writing up one trip from the summer I have to start into another one. Consider this a belated beginning to a few reviews from back in late July which starts on a decent page with Baltimore's Leinie Lodge. This was our first stop on a weekend bachelor party adventure for lunch and drinks. Now you can tell from the three stars above that this wasn't anything amazing, but if the Yelp gods gave us half stars I'd probably say they deserve an extra piece (3.5) because the ambiance and the staff were spot on. The "Lodge" had a great vibe to it with a glass window ceiling making it feel like a greenhouse (just one filled with beer). Long tables and little games spread about added into a biergarten pulse for the place. Our waitress was friendly, took our orders quickly, and kept our glasses full. I will note we were here on an early Friday afternoon with basically nobody else in the place so one would hope she'd be tentative. Moving on from those positive aspects takes us into the glorious and mixed land of beer. There were plenty of things on tap along with a few local Baltimore and Maryland brews which is always a nice sign, even if a few were unavailable. The not-so-nice sign was the lack of any ability to get a flight and/or sample a variety of Leinenkugel beers (hence the name of the place). These weren't big negatives (especially because we hit up a brewery not too long after lunch), but it's still worth noting. An even bigger note would be the food. This isn't the best note or a note that should even be written (if we're keeping with the note analogy) as my Jalapeño avocado chicken sandwich was nothing to write home about. The avocado was relatively soft (which you want) and the bacon was somewhat crispy, though the grilled chicken had a slight rubbery texture upon each bite. Bad chicken can be a big turnoff and can ruin the entirety of what you're eating. I wouldn't say this was a complete miss, but it came close. The fries were a sufficient side to tie it all together. Overall, Leinie Lodge is a fine spot for a beer and to hang for a bit. They have a great space and a formidable beer menu (just be careful about what they actually offer). I'd return if I found myself in the Power Plant Live area of the Inner Harbor again, but I'd probably skip the food this time and just go for a drink. Better Baltimore reviews are on the way!

Located among the Power Plant Live! places. This was a convenient stop for us as we were walking around. The inside was cool and relaxing. All of the inside table seating is benches or stools. The bar has stools with backs. Service was ok. She took a long time bring us water after we asked. Food took longer than we expected to come out. The kitchen is separate from the actual location so not sure how big it is or how far the walk is. Food was ok. I got the fish tacos which were enough for me. The fish was not super flavorful but I liked the toppings and sauce. My boyfriend got the chicken jalapeno sandwich. It was not very good. The chicken was burnt here and there and there was not enough sauce for the dryness of the chicken and the bread. We each got a drink - 1 beer and 1 cider. Standard stuff, nothing amazing.

This was a pretty cool beer garden located at the Power Plant Live entertainment venue. There were a variety of beers as well as a selection of bar food. Since it is located in the Power Plant, there is plenty of parking in the surrounding garages/decks. Also accessible via Uber or taxi. Lots of entertainment venues around so a really nice option to hang out at.

    Yummy fried pickles!

Leinenkugel is my favorite beer so imagine my excitement to find a Leinenkugel Beer Garden near the Inner Harbor in Baltimore! And yes, they have several other beer besides Leinenkugel, but I'm not sure why you would want anything else LOL! The ceiling is glass so even inside you feel outside. There was an outside area also with a lovely brick fireplace for those chilly days. We tried the fried pickles which were slightly different than other places I have eaten. They were more oblong than round. The flavor was great! Our bartender was so nice and offered great conversation! We stopped by on our way home one more time to use our Yelp check in deal of a free pint of beer. Stop by and see them for a fun time! When you come up from the Shot Tower metro stop they are on the right in Power Plant Live.

During a day trip to Baltimore's harbor, we decided to end our trip with snacks and drinks at Leinenkugel's Beer Garden located within Power Plant Live. There was plenty of seating both outside and inside which was nice. The service was scattered, but friendly over all. The food and drinks were priced reasonably, but ask about any specials. When I was here they were running a $5 mimosa sampler. I had the crab dip, which was delicious.

The night that I went, the manager shared that more than five people had called out, so I'm trying not to hold the service against them. It was clear everyone was working really hard and trying their best. The food took a really long time to come out and unfortunately, it wasn't the best. The pasta was super spicy, which I was not prepared for, but it was enjoyable. The chocolate cake was served cold, and as a result tasted a little gritty. The drinks were nice. The crab dip was all right, but did not come with enough bread to eat it. And when you asked for more you had to pay an additional fee. That made the environment interesting to say to the least. Plenty of seating for it to be a bar which was refreshing for Baltimore. Service was so so. They were just chicken balls with bones. Seeing those kind of turned me off and I didn't want eat anymore. So essentially, I left 4 wings on the plate because of how they looked. We also ordered crab dip. That was fantastic! The pita bread they used was so good! Warm with a slight crisp to it. Overall it was a bar, so I wasn't expecting much. I will definitely be going back for the other events the have during the week for something to do this winter.

But…read morerecently I had a bad experience that left me feeling dark and empty, like the cycle of the moon was causing everyone around me to radiate negative and hateful energy. The interaction forced me to go home and watch Mr. Bean's holiday to remind me that there is good in the world. I came in at 1:15 which is late but the door was open and there was a DJ in the back playing music and like 7 people at the bar. The bartender was chatting with two people at the bar so I walked up. And the bartender gave me the dirtiest look that made me question if I had known him as a child and did something wrong to him because he looked at me like I was his number one enemy. Then he said "yeahhh we're like ..... getting ready to be done....." and I said "okay is there time for one drink? Or did you already do last call" Then he just kept looking off and said yeah no. We're done. And I said okay! No problem. I was curious what was happening in the back like if it was a DJ or karaoke or what because I hadn't seen the set up before and like I said I like this place for shows. I was just genuinely curious and I was preparing to leave no matter what but like F SAKE can a girl not ask a bartender a question about the establishment??? Again he looked at me like we had ancestral beef, like he had been hating me and my families bloodline for years. And he just kind of ignored me. And said something like "you can't just go back there and hangout" and I said "I know, I was just asking. I thought it might have been karaoke or open mic I didn't know you guys did that here" Then he ignored me. Like I was not trying to hangout and get a drink after he already told me no I was just curious because if there was karaoke I'd like to come back for it!!!! Then the woman he was talking to at the bar turned to me and said "have you ever been to Royal blue? You could go there" And idk how to explain but it was in the most condescending way ever, like you don't belong here or like she was talking to me like I was 5 years old?? Anyway I said okay thanks, I was just curious have a good night. And I left. And I left feeling the anxiety and humiliation in my tummy like I had just been bullied out of the cool kids lunch table. So. Sorry for bothering that bartender by asking 2 questions about the bar that he works at and sorry for whatever crime I apparently committed against you in our first cycles of life that made you absolutely HATE MY GUYS even though I was literally wearing my "please be kind to me" shirt. Now im too humiliated to go back and it was just sinister vibes. Sad.

We also found some random Halloween decoration that we ended up dancing with. I guess there's food here because Yelp is offering it to me as an option to review, but I have never eaten here. The drinks are all well and you should not expect a drink anything faster than a beer or a well drink. I really liked how empty it was and the music was really made for us. You really don't need to know anything about square dancing, she taught everything you needed to know. It was my first time square dancing, and although I was anxious about switching partners/dancing with strangers, it seemed like the caller took that into account: you start with just your partner, then find another couple, then you find two other couples, and all these formations ease you into switching partners. I was sweating by dance #2, but I stuck around until the band took a break after 1.5 hours. I had three complaints: her mic was not loud enough, the water machine was broken, and not enough chairs for folks taking a break. However, besides those concerns, square dancing made for a great, affordable date night.

Typically the first day starts around 5ish and goes til 2 am, the second starting a bit earlier and the weekend being an all day event. I love perusing the amazing merch tents and finding band shirts that I could only dream about (or, I suppose, find online). I've been going to MDF for five years now and it is THE metal fest in America. In fact, it is one of the few fests in the US to draw people from all over the world (both bands and spectators). They've had their bumps in the road as the fest has grown over the years including venue and security issues but I feel that for the most part that has been resolved. Sure, drink prices can be high (like this year water prices kept going up every day. Weird) but for a festival they have a nice diverse line up of drink and food choices (I recommend the bbq and the tacos). The frozen drink stand offered some delicious and refreshing daiquiris and margaritas that were worth the high price in order to cool down. So metal heads, unite. Eat, drink and get crazy. You won't find another metal festival like it in the states. I've seen some of my favorite bands here and have really developed a love for Baltimore in the process. This city doesn't get enough credit sometimes. They are more than gracious hosts. Oh, and don't forget your sunscreen. Most of your day will be spent at the Edison lot in the blazing sun which is a parking lot turned in to a venue. The other two venues included in fest are the Soundstage which is a nice smaller venue and Ramshead Live!. Ramshead is a very nice larger venue with a nice craft beer line up. You will learn to develop a nice way to balance water, caffeine and alcohol intake after a few years. Or end up being one of the swaggering drunk zombies or people sleeping on the asphalt. haha. So, if you are a metal head, I highly recommend you start making the yearly pilgrimage. It is well worth the money, exhaustion and sunburn to see some of the best metal acts in the world, stateside.
