I made reservations at Maria's a couple of weeks in advance for a large party of about 20-25 people. Since I had never been there before, I wasn't sure what to expect--but I'm so glad we chose Maria's! The food was served quickly and came out hot, fresh, and absolutely delicious. The staff was wonderful--attentive, friendly, and accommodating to our large group. We ordered plenty of drinks, enjoyed a great atmosphere, and had an amazing time overall. Today was not a good day at Maria's. I came along and we decided to sit in the dining area. It was a busy. I ordered my drinks directly from the bar with my beloved bartenders. A Paloma and The Cactus Blossom. It took a little while to get our food order in We placed the order and our food came out in separate times. Two greek salads were ordered and one salad came out and that was a garden salad. Definitely not ordered. The calamari came out with decent presentation but room temperature and the decorative greens were wilted almost cooked. The plate was hot but not the food. That was sent back. And returned quickly. They dropped it back in the fryer. The same wilted greens on the plate. It was sent back again. The cook comes out and says it was freshly cooked. I firmly let him know its not fresh and pointed out the calamari on another table that was like the first one that was cold. This was over fried as it was refried. Thw other food came out for the table to include the salads that we didnt receive. My bake ziti was the last item to come after 30 minutes. The check was places on the table and the calamari was still on the check. This was my first time visiting this place! We were sat immediately upon entering and there was a good amount of people inside of the establishment. It was a Monday evening so they had a crabcake special which the crabcakes looked enormous and yummy! We kept it simple and got burgers! My son enjoyed his sliders, and I enjoyed my burger. My son's dad didn't enjoy his burger very much but they were more than accommodating, swapping out wings (all flats) at his request! The menu is huge! Lots of offerings! Yall this place has been like an urban legend to me for the longest time. People would say they have been and I should go and I have never even seen it. The reason being becuse while ppl say Maria's is in Owings Mills and its not, its 10 minutes away from actual Owings mills. So this place is very disjointed and large. THe day we were there the AC wasnt working so Im hot already and the one bartender was so nice but told us asap she was the only person working (remember this) So we order a couple bites and some drinks. My home girl orders a blueberry lemondade martini because sure that sounds good to her lol but when she gets her drink its just a lemon drop. We ask the waitress wht the drink was and she says I dont know I just dropped it at the table I didnt make it. Ok sure but you saw no blueberry in anything so maybe ask a question? Customer service was great especially for a large party. Everyone was super attentive, refilled drinks, took drink orders, food arrived hot, fresh and with HUGE portions. The banquet room for a party of about 30 was great, the Christmas decorations and the tv screen showcasing a fireplace was just beautiful and really made the room feel festive. What a community gem! I have been here several times and it's always lively and fast service. My favs include the lamb, olive medley, crab dip and boom boom shrimp. The happy hour menu is extensive as well with wide ranging hours. The dining area has a few tables that can accommodate groups and the bar has limited seating coupled with high top tables. There are plenty of TVs to catch the game. Note there is another entrance in the front that has a totally different vibe. It's a more traditional dining space whereas the back entrance caters to a more casual, bar crowd. Prices are competitive. This place is perfect to kick back and vibe. I love the food at Maria's. They have a restaurant area and a bar, and I typically sit at the bar side. They have a daily happy hour which has a great selection of food and drinks. Brunch is on the weekends until three. The service is amazing, especially from Ben! My favorite things to get are the wings, the blackened shrimp, quesadilla, and the Maryland style pasta. So a homeboy of mines had hit me & told me to pull up to one of his favorite spots for Happy Hour. I did & to my surprise it wasn't very crowded with a lot of parking available outside of the place. So i went in & found my buddy at the bar. At which time he introduced me to his bartender Ben. Ben was nice, polite, & very drink with the drinks. I tested him out with a green tea shot. Ben made it to perfection & he was very informative with the menu & happy hour specials. I decided to take it light & get the Maria's cheese pizza. Whole time I'm not knowing it was a huge entire pizza. I was expecting slices & some fries. No it was a whole large pizza. But it was delicious so I won't complain, just means leftovers for lunch tomorrow. The bar setup was nice & spacious with a bunch of tvs so if it's any game on you should be straight. Service was excellent. Came for an early 80th birthday dinner. I got the Mediterranean cod with roasted vegetables and Greek(?) style potatoes(basically softer ranch fries). I enjoyed my meal but for the uneven temperatures. I would have like everything hotter. The potatoes were hot, the roasted vegetables were warm and and the cod was tepid. I A guest ordered the cream of crab soup and it came out warm so was sent back. All those who got the crab cake were delighted. 3 crab soups were enjoyed and I ended up with 2 great appetizers: the oven fried octopus & the lamb chops , very meaty and a pleasant surprise. One guest got eggplant and spaghetti. Since we are expecting a snow storm I have two doggie bags the Papillion will not be sharing. We were in a room with another much larger party, we were a party of 7. They were louder than us but we had no complaints as we had no problem hearing each other. The building Maria's is in apparently was a former karaoke bar and before that a lovely house. The menu is eclectic : Italian, Greek, Chesapeake Bay &, some Mexican food thrown in. My biggest complaint is the uneven temperature of the food. The kitchen might wish to get their act together. Avoid this place!!!!!!!! They tried to serve a salad with old, rotten, lettuce. When we complained, the very nasty "manager" tried to offer one half off the price of the salad. I think a full credit would have been appropriate. Most of the salad was still there, but I did eat some. She was not sorry, offer to bring another item, and acted irritated. Then she threatened to call the police if I didn't pay. I have photos of the rotten salad. I thought that was unacceptable. I did leave one half of the cost of the salad on the table. I should not have to pick through the salad to avoid the rotten, wilted, black, and soggy wads of lettuce. When I walked to my car, the filth in the back of the building might also indicate how they keep their kitchen. I'd avoid Marias in Reisterstown, MD if I were you. We will never be back. read more

Finally got to Maria's and it was everything I expected and more. Our server was fantastic and took care of all of our needs for food, beverages, and was outstanding with anything we needed. We had a gluten-free member of our party and everything that she needed was taken care of so that she received what she could eat. I had the half and half crab soup half cream of crab half Maryland crab and it was absolutely delicious with lots of jumbo lump crab meat and tons of vegetables. I had the surf and turf which was a petite crab cake paired with three lamb chops and opted for the roasted potatoes and the stewed lima beans. The crab cake was all jumbo lump there was no filler whatsoever and the petite crab cake was actually quite large. I can't imagine what one or two crab cakes would look like as they must be massive and delicious. The crab cake was absolutely delicious and broiled just right. My three lamb chops were meaty and delicious and perfect at a medium temperature. The potatoes were filling and were delicious and the stewed lima beans were excellent in the tomato sauce that they were in. The other two members of my party had a full rack of lamb and the grilled shrimp. Both looked excellent and came out just right. Our food was spaced out well between the appetizers and my soup and the meal coming. For dessert we shared a rice pudding which also was fantastic. I am thrilled with the meal that we had. The ambiance was very nice, we were there earlier and it wasn't very crowded but I can imagine how noisy it could be in this small space if the restaurant had been full. If you're going to watch a Sunday night football game here - don't. It took us 20 minutes to get an order of mozz sticks we were told the kitchen was backed up. We called ahead of time to make sure they'd have the Ravens game on and when last call was and they said 10:30. Yet at 10 pm, not even 4th quarter for an 8:20 pm game the waiter dropped off our check without even asking if we wanted anything else. They started putting the chairs up and turning tvs off with guests still sitting at the bar. Basically a get out now, we're closed. Seems like a bad business model to shut down paying guests. Buyer Beware! The take-out service does not provide an acceptable portion size on any of the take-out dishes. Ordered broiled salmon that comes with 2 sides and I must say the portion size of the salmon and sides did not match the price charged. I paid $33 for such a dish and was very disappointed in the amount of food received. I was still hungry after eating the little serving of food items. For the price of $33 for a dinner is ridiculous, especially if one doesn't receive their money worth. First time here; NEVER returning. We drove from Columbia to meet 4 friends for dinner. That meant we needed a table for six where everyone could see each other and interact. What we were taken to was a table for four, next to a smaller table for two. However, the smaller table was next to a square wooden pole and would have resulted in a person sitting on the other side of the pole being totally unable to talk to or see the other four and only allowing them to interact with the person across from them!!! When we complained that this arrangement was unacceptable, we were told that this was "the only table for six that we have available." This totally ignored our complaint and didn't acknowledge that setting up tables like this was moronic and totally illogical. Then someone from the restaurant said that they had a table in the bar area that could fit six. Myself and 2 others went to check it out and it was fine, no obstructions, and we could all see each other. So, we moved there. Then we had to wait an extremely long time to get place settings and menus and an equally long time before someone took our order. My wife and I ordered an appetizer, which, par for the course, arrived only minutes before our dinner. We then had to summon the waiter to get our check and to actually take our money. We actually considered just leaving due to how poorly we were treated and how long we had to wait for everything. Our reservation was for 6:30 and we didn't leave until 8:15!! In conclusion, the experience was a disaster and definitely not worth the drive from Columbia. One of the worst experiences I have had, which my friends and associates will learn about and hopefully never patronize this place. read more

The food was decent at Maria's but the service was just too chaotic for me to justify coming back. This is how the entire experience went. We walked up and noticed they had an upstairs balcony. We were told we couldn't sit there because they was no server to work the space. Okay no problem, we sat inside. While going in to sit down, we were told their credit card machine was out, so we had to pay in cash. They noted they had an ATM on site we could use for fee. okay let's just hope its working by the time we leave because we already drove 20 minutes to get here. On their menu, they have chicken wings. I asked the server were they baked/grilled or fried wings. She said I could have them prepared however I wanted. I ordered grilled and they proceeded to come out fried. She was confused clearly. My party of 2 was seated at a 4 top table created by 2, 2 tops pushed together. We order several menu items to share, so we needed all the space. As our food was coming out, we were told they needed to take one of the tables away from us for a party coming in. Now we had to find a way to get all of our food onto a small 2 top. It was uncomfortable. Lastly, when the bill came, we were charged regular price for everything, although we had requested the happy hour menu. The server was confused again. Let me start with the immediate problems: - Ants on the table. Second, our pizza was so base we sent it back to take off the menu. We ordered a vegetable pizza and immediately noticed the crust was undercooked, the sauce tasted like it was canned, and the vegetables Frozen. It had no flavor. Third, the chicken parmigiana was overcooked, and dry and the pasta that came with the dish was also clumped together and the sauce dry Fourth, I can't wrap my head around this menu.
