In any other city, the crab cakes here would be 5 star as they were pretty dang good. Not the best I've had by any means, but way better than what most places try and pass off as a crab cake. The dinner option was generous with 2 delicious crabby mounds, and two sides which I did not want, but I was able to sub out others. Nice! The old fashioned wasn't much to look at, but man o man... it was actually pretty good and a reasonable price. I had a couple as I'm not one to pass up cheap drinks. Service was spectacular too with our waiter joking around with us and taking good care of us while we dined after a conference. If you're in Baltimore and near the convention center (or the Orioles Park), this place is worth a stop if you're in a crab cake mood and don't want to venture to the Inner Harbor for something a little more upscale. read more

Pratt Street Ale House is located in downtown Baltimore and is a great spot to grab drinks before a sporting event. We stopped by around 5 PM on a Saturday before an Orioles game, so as expected, the place was extremely busy and had a lively pregame atmosphere. The beers were good, but unfortunately, the food is what brought my rating down to three stars. The fries tasted a little stale, and I ordered the smash burger (forgot to grab a picture), which was pretty average. I've definitely had much better smash burgers elsewhere. We also tried the chicken fingers, which were very basic and reminded me of typical ballpark food, not bad, but nothing memorable or something I'd crave again. Overall, Pratt Street Ale House is a solid spot for drinks and the pregame atmosphere, especially if you're heading to an Orioles game. However, based on the food we tried, I probably wouldn't come back specifically to eat. I'd recommend it more as a pregame drinks spot than a dining destination. read more

The Pratt Street Ale House team was a blast to work with for our event! Especially because we had to book them short notice. Everyone checked in with our guests and our party periodically, they were open to answer all of our questions, and the energy of the staff was really great. Talking to everyone, joking with them, they were a blast to talk to! The food was really good too! The sweet chili wings were so great to eat! The spicy rub chicken was good too! The rest were really good too! Especially as vegetarian options! The vibe of our event room was awesome! It's called The Library. The location was roomy but also felt homey at the same time. I went to this spot because I had been staying at a nearby hotel for a conference and this restaurant was across the street. It's a big space and I went this some colleagues as walk-ins and we got seated right away. The staff was friendly and I enjoyed the option size. It felt very American, if that makes any sense. We had gone in and was seated quite quickly, and Service was a little slow, but it was a packed house as we were finishing up our meals. The table to the left of us got up and left the room. One would think they had finished their meals, but one of the ladies bent down and told us that there was a mouse under her table. We asked for the check and we spotted three mice across from us in boots and they were running in between the two boots about five minutes later, there was a scream at the end of the rum and women were standing on chairs raising their feet up off the floor because there were multiple mice at that and Also. We stopped by a little after 11am on a Saturday and there were 12 of us. We were able to get a table outside for all of us with not a lot of notice which was great. It's right across the street from the convention center which is convenient. Our food came out in a reasonable amount of time. My crab cake sandwich was a bit on the pricey side but good. I wondered why the building was so big, but it all made sense when I walked in and the place was packed (both up and downstairs). Got on the waitlist with an estimated 30 minute wait, but we were seated within 15. My girlfriend wanted a regular hamburger, but Pratt Street Ale only has specialty burgers, which was kind of odd. They don't even have an option on the register for a regular hamburger, so we still got charged for the specialty. However, it did taste REALLY good - maybe not $17 good, but up there. The hot chicken sandwich was okay. Not as spicy as I'd like, and I wish there were some more pickles or coleslaw to add flavor. Fries were amazing if you like crinkle cut! My biggest gripe was PARKING! There is virtually no parking nearby unless you're willing to pay $40+ for 45 minutes in the public lot. Insane! No street parking in front of the building, so you'll have to drive around for a bit to find a meter. But you'll get a nice walk on the way to and from the building! read more

I experienced the absolute worst service and food quality at this restaurant on 6/17/25, to include double-charging me for mac & cheese with crab. The restaurant's manager, Jennifer Myers, was totally rude to me and reneged on her promise to correct a bad meal. They served me mac & cheese w/crab ($28) with VIRTUALLY NO CRAB meat. When I reported the problem to the manager, Jennifer Myers, she promised to replace my meal with an option of my choice: two crab cakes. Twenty minutes later, she pulled a bait and switch, and served me a MKT price ($58) crab cake dinner. When I called out the double-priced meal, the manager returned, over-talked me, snatched the food back, and left me with nothing! She even called me "aggressive" when I asked for better service, and advocated for myself and respectable service. My table companions told her, "He's not aggressive." In the end, I left with nothing. What kind of service is that? Terrible. Eat where the restaurant's staff respects you. Skip Pratt Street Ale House! Do NOT visit this establishment, unless you're prepared to accept worse-than-mediocre food quality and lousy customer service. For a Friday night, it was packed and yet we didn't wait the 25 minutes for a table for 3. Service was quick and friendly and the mood was cozy for a pub. We (well I) had to try the fried pickles and mozz sticks. The pickles were tasty but the breading was too thick. And yet, they almost disappeared. Mozz sticks were on point. I tried the Bmore Hot Chicken sandwich which comes with a healthy portion of crinkle fries. The hot chicken tasted more like hot sauce than other hot chickens. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. Spicy enough to satisfy but be open to something a little different. The place is laid with brickwork, glass windows and wooden barrels creating a waterfront look even though the water is a bit further down. Staff are friendly, and the place can get busy but the waitress checked in often to let us know where our food was. The jerk chicken wings were so great we had to come back again for another round. Stumbled over to this place after completing a scavenger hunt at the National Harbor. When we arrived on a Saturday evening around 7 it was a ghost town with only 5 people at the bar and no other patrons. The bartender I believe his name is James has a peculiar sense of humor. Think a snarky chip on his shoulder but acts like he's joking type of manner. Soon as we walked in he said "ughhhh I was hoping to close early" to which I responded apologizing and said we didn't know you were about to close as we attempt to turn around. He then said come in and have a drink I've got to get rid of these pests first talking about the other patrons. We each had one drink here and enjoyed having a conversation with the other bar hoppers. Due to the not so friendly and very snarky bartender we ended up leaving to head to Mack O'sheas in which 3 of the other patrons followed us and we walked together. I may would return during a game day perhaps and if another bartender is working but I can't say it's a place I will recommend or seek out. The bartender also shared that he was divorced at 40 and hoping to get laid that night which is why he needed the bar to close early.
