What would seem like a simple procedure.... to mount and balance tires has left me somewhat confused. When mounting the new "engraved whitewall" tire on the front wheel, the technician failed to remove the existing spoke weights before proceeding to balance the wheel. To balance the wheel, a total of 12 stick on .5 oz. weights were applied to the front wheel. The bike has HD Chrome 80 spoke wheels, and I was informed by other Harley dealerships that the "chrome spoke weights" should be used to keep the aesthetics in line with the appearance of the wheel. The stick on weights are not meant to be used on this type of wheel, but used on mag type wheels. I called the service department and spoke with someone, trying to get this straightened out, as I am feeling rather disappointed. The response was not what I wanted to hear, service department said that they did not have spoke weights to fit my wheels and this is why they use the tape weights. This is even more confusing now because my front wheel still has spoke weights on it in addition to the 12 tape weights they applied. This the same dealership that installed and balanced these wheels using spoke weights when originally installed. October 28.... I did speak with Tim today (General Manager) and I will be taking the bike back to Starved Rock HD this Spring for them to re-balance the front wheel with "spoke weights" at no charge. Thanks Tim!

The current management doesnt have anyone working Sundays that can actually get in the computer to see no money was owed. So we will come up to the store when its convenient for you guys. You guys should have let the old employees show you how to run a dealership before you guys took over.

My only regret is that it would take me almost two days to get there if I want to go back. I'm assuming he will do mail order, so give him a chance. I recently got my first ever cardo freecom, which allows me to talk to my partner on the road, it isn't boring anymore! I've been knowing them for over 3 years now and they are just great! I called on Friday and again on Monday, spoke with two different individuals, and was told I would receive return calls, which never happened. Due to the lack of follow-up, I had to extend a rental car while waiting for guidance. Being told afterward that the tow would be "covered" did not address the failed repair, the safety risk, or the lack of communication. I expected better quality work and responsiveness for a safety-related repair. Unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing.

We had a two hour drive left and a flight to catch. The office staff gave me a ride to town to get lunch while their mechanic worked tirelessly on his solution. They offered very competitive pricing and worked non stop to deliver my vehicle in a shorter time then planned. They are also helping us to support what happened by documenting what they saw. That is way above what I would have expected.

I started asking questions about the build and Jason was forthcoming. I found some issues I wanted answered, typically the tuner for the bike. Jason turned me over to Nick who responded. He said he had done this build with other Harleys and it worked well. I kept coming up with more questions and I believe for this build (Trike) they just got tired of me asking away. I wanted to know how the tuner chosen by them could actually tune the Trike if it didn't have any maps for a cam upgrade? Just pipes and air cleaner. Nick responded that he had done many tunes with it and it works? For this build the bike should be dyno tuned. GP did not have a dyno for a trike. Only place was Woodstock HD. After talking more, Jason wrote back stating he didn't think they could get me to where I wanted to be so advised I go some where who could. In all, I guess I am upset somewhat that if I had not researched my build I never would have learned the issues involved in the stage two upgrade I was trying to do. I would have had them do it possibly not getting the true performance out of the bike I had hoped for. I can't really say anything about the quality of the work they do, ratings were pretty good. I was in a pretty bad spot since I had a road trip coming up and now nobody to do the much needed maintenance. In looking around for other shops I came across this shop. They could have charged me triple what they actually did and I would have happily paid. It would still have been cheaper than two plane tickets and a rental car with less than 24 hours notice.
