They kindly allowed one of my guests (MOH) to bring her 1 year old+4 year old. Parking lot is spacious-- I didn't have any issues finding a spot when I arrived 10 minutes prior to my appointment. But it was surprisingly full once I got out of my car closer to my appointment time. We were greeted by Mary, who also turned out to be my stylist for the day. We briefly sat down, answered a few questions, then Mary Godmother started working her magic. Mary was respectful and mindful of my budget, knew what and when to ask me in private (behind the fitting room curtains aka before hearing my hype crew's opinions), has the best personality, and clearly knowledgeable in what she does. I had no EXACT style in mind, but I did have a general idea and some inspos. By the 5th dress I tried on-- I was in shock by how much I immediately loved it. Tried a 6th one then back to the 1st one I really liked, but those felt meh after the 5th dress. Mary asked the right questions with each dress I tried on, actually listened, and ultimately guided me to the perfect dress that left me speechless first then giddy right after. THE dress felt sooo ME and absolutely made me feel like a BRIDE. THANK YOU SO MUCH, Mary! This just happened 5 days ago, so I'll have to post an update on how the rest of my experience goes moving forward and when I get the dress. So far, I am over the moon. FYIs: -When you click "Book an Appointment" on their website, it says "Our wedding gown price point is $1,500-$9,000", but in the store I was told prices start at $1,800. -I had to sign a contract that "All sales are final. No returns, refunds, or exchanges. No exceptions." before giving a payment for the dress. I'm not sure if the ~immediate~ 'final sale' is a standard as this is the only bridal shop I have been to, but I did not expect that to be the case on a non-discounted gown.

Plus, it was started by a woman, and it focuses especially on helping women worldwide. I think that's super important. Bajalia has lots of very unique items, some beautiful, some puzzling, and some avant garde/over my head, yet interesting. I've gotten several gorgeous bangles here, as well as an amazing ring from Turkey, and a super, super pretty scarf. The items change seasonally, so check back every couple months to see what's new. I loved what they had in the winter, but the summer items are a bit too neon and bright for me. Still, it's definitely worth checking out. Prices range throughout the store, but the err on the side of being a bit pricier than I'm accustomed to. Granted, I'm used to Claire's and Target pricing, which says pretty much nothing. They have several good sales throughout the year, and if you become a fan of their Facebook page and join the mailing list, you'll be alerted as to when these occur. The store is on the south end of Park Ave. by Tutti Frutti and near Rollins. It's similar to Ten Thousand Villages, but the items a bit more interesting and unique (and expensive). (By expensive I mean bangles can run anywhere from $5 to $60, and scarves are generally over $40, probably closer to $50 or $60. This is pretty standard for many items that are Fair Trade, and I think the quality here is higher than some other places I've seen, both in-store and online.)

After a few months, I called again and made an appointment for not only my wedding dress to be altered and cut but also two bridesmaids dress to be altered. They did a wonderful job on all three dresses. I had to provide them with more direction with my bridal dress on the look I was going for but after them altering it again it turned out great. The service was quick, the ladies joked around with me as they discovered my two bridesmaids dress was going to be work one week apart. Lol. I could get the dress zipped half way up and asked for them to remove the top part of the zipper and replace it with a corset so the dress would fit. The corset matched the dress material absolutely perfectly, none of the beading was messed up, and the turn around time was quick !!! I cannot recommend the seamstress enough , I have come a few times to hem pants or smaller materials but this dress was very impressive and had to share!

Today, we brought our Mom to Crafted Scent Bar in Mt Dora for a Candle making experience to…read morecelebrate her birthday. This business has great reviews on other sights and we really really loved this. We decided to do this while we were at lunch and we booked the 3pm session. All 5 of us got to pick from a huge selection of scents and we were allowed to combine as many scents as we wanted to use. There are several selections we could choose from to make at different price points and we all chose the middle price point option to create 10 Oz candles (1 each). The owners were present to help guide us in choosing what scents may complement each other. We were given the glass jars that we chose along with a wick to stick into the jar. After smelling the different scent samples that we were interested in and made our selections, we wrote them down on a card. The owner then brought us each of the scents we chose in individual bottles. We were also given beakers and small scales. We were then instructed how much total weight in scent that we needed to blend. For example, I chose 3 scents to blend, so I started out adding a few drops of each scent into the beaker and judged how much more of each scent to add based upon the smell. The more I added, the better it smelled. I blended Orange Blossom, Plumeria and Gardenia together. Once we had the proper weight in scent mixed, we were each given a pitcher of melted wax and a stick. We were directed to pour all of or beaker of blended scents into the melted wax and stir. Once we had thoroughly mixed our scents into the wax, it was then time to pour the now scented wax into the selected candle jars. The owner then gave each of us a tool to help keep the wick straight in the candle jar while our candles solidified. While they were solidifying, we walked down the street into some of the other shops. We returned a little more than an hour later to pick up our mostly solidified candles to take home with us. You are welcome to bring your own drinks with you. The shop sells already made candles and scents, tshirts, candle and tart accessories etc. the owner and staff (her Mom) are wonderful and enjoyable to work with. Our family really enjoyed this whole experience and recommend this for your family, your work team, friend group, church group, etc. we will most likely do this again and will bring friends to experience this with. All 5 of us chose the same price level making a 10 Oz candle in a beautiful colored glass container with wood lids at ($42 each). Yes you can buy candles fir less money, yes you can choose a less expensive price point....we really enjoyed the experience and the end products we created in their beautiful colored glass jars...and most importantly Mom enjoyed this as a Happy Birthday activity with her two adult kids and our husbands.
