Came in with a very detailed beaded dress that no longer fit me. It was very expensive and I wanted to one day wear again so needed someone I could trust. I could get the dress zipped half way up and asked for them to remove the top part of the zipper and replace it with a corset so the dress would fit. The corset matched the dress material absolutely perfectly, none of the beading was messed up, and the turn around time was quick !!! I cannot recommend the seamstress enough , I have come a few times to hem pants or smaller materials but this dress was very impressive and had to share! read more

Choose seamstress after other bridal alteration stores failed to follow up with me in altering my previously worn wedding dress. I called Saturday after business hours and seamstress still responded to my call with the services they provided and their business days and hours. After a few months, I called again and made an appointment for not only my wedding dress to be altered and cut but also two bridesmaids dress to be altered. They did a wonderful job on all three dresses. I had to provide them with more direction with my bridal dress on the look I was going for but after them altering it again it turned out great. The service was quick, the ladies joked around with me as they discovered my two bridesmaids dress was going to be work one week apart. Lol. I would leave 0 if I could. I'm not one to leave a review, but I have to advise all the brides to be of this place or at least my experience. I went in there referred by the place that sold the dress to me. I changed into the dress and we talked about what I would like to be done to the dress. I took it off and then we went over the price. I was very nice and civil but said unfortunately I can't afford it. She became extremely mad and rude and decided she wanted to charge me $50 just because we talked about what I want to have done to the dress. It took literally 5mins. I told her I have no problem paying but it would of been nice just her telling me before hand that if I would of not done the service, that her talking to me was going to cost me $50. read more

Judy, the owner and seamstress, is absolutely amazing. I came in with a sample dress and apparently I had purchased it late. Judy was happy to take it and worked wonders on the dress. I was a little scared when she cut my beaded straps to drop the dress a few inches - but she knew exactly what she was doing and I had full faith in her. I also liked that she didn't do any unnecessary alterations. After the first fitting she gave me a chance to lose 5 pounds and even encouraged me that I could do it. I don't have many service options where I live and almost none that have reviews on yelp, so I've been relying a lot on word of mouth since I moved to Florida. That's how I found myself asking my hair stylist at Matthew Michael's for suggestions on a quality place to get clothes altered. Although she didn't know anywhere, the stylist at the next chair said "Seamstress, without a doubt. They're great quality and not too far." I was pleased first off that they had a private parking lot. There was a sign on the door about an upcoming vacation notifying customers that the shop would be closed for a week or so. I went in and waited a few minutes, as there were several women in there getting dresses measured or trying them on after they'd been altered. Then one of the women working there (there were three) showed me to a changing room so I could try on my jeans. I came out, and she quickly measured and marked the hem, noting that I wanted to keep the original. The woman who seemed to be in charge looked at the jeans and suggested I do a regular hem, since the wide-leg dark wash was pretty even, and she said that once they were washed a few times, it would look original. I knew that it'd also be cheaper and figured she's the expert, so I agreed. Once I'd changed, I came back out and we discussed when to pick up. I'd heard them talking to someone else about the time needed to complete their items, which would be after the shop reopened post-vacation, so I asked if there was any way to get mine sooner. She said that since I had so little (just the jeans and a romper that needed the zipper replaced), that was no problem. So they marked me down for the day I asked for, told me to come after noon, and gave me my pink ticket. When I went in to pick up, I was very pleased. The jeans looked great and only cost $14, definitely less than the $25 I'm used to paying for original hems. The romper looked good as well. I wouldn't hesitate to return. read more

I wanted to take the time to review this place. I have been to several alterations shops and this one has been the most personable, professional, and also the most patient. My wife had 3 fittings for one dress and came back again for another one. For my engagement photoshoot that same day, I was unaware of the hours open and when I got to the shop, it was closed. I called they m and they came to open the store within 30 mins! This was a huge lifesaver. The dress fit was immaculate and she even made custom stitching to fit my wife's dress more snuggly to her body. I hope for those that were on the fence read my review and take my advice! While I am terribly sorry for Judi's death, the owner of the shop I myself am upset that my dress was not finished and had to be redone. We paid $216 for an incomplete dress that was done very poorly. I do not believe Judi did any work on my dress. Had to take the dress elsewhere and pay $130 to get it fixed. After speaking with whoever is in charge now, they are saying I never should have taken the dress. My mother dealt with someone who didn't speak english, and we we very worried the shop would close and my dress would be gone. So we took the dress. The person I spoke with today is now backtracking and saying the hem was never included in the price of the dress. This is a bad way to deal with bad work. I am very disappointed in how this turned out. Do yourself a favor, avoid this shop. read more

I have been bringing clothing here for several years for alterations, and although they are incredibly expensive, the work is superb, so it it worth it for me to drive some 18 miles from across town to get to Winter Park. I have had suits, pants, and even shirts altered with very good results. Imagine my surprise, when today, Monday March 27, 2017, I brought in a pair of pants from a summer suit to have the simplest of alterations done, which was finishing the pants, as they came with the length unfinished. I was told "we don't do those alterations any more, and the personnel on staff proceeded to argue with me, and said as long as the owner wasn't there (not my problem), they couldn't do anything for me. Didn't bother to call owner or anything like that. This is the worst service I have gotten, especially after dropping hundreds of dollars on alterations in the last few years. I won't be coming back, ever. And I don't expect them to give a damn....Seems like all they are interested in is high dollar, high end wedding dresses, which is OK, but don't advertise yourself as doing alterations, when it's clear that you are totally specialized. Judi altered the dresses for my daughters wedding March 2014, no complaints. I bring another daughter's prom dress to be altered in March 2015. There is sequin beading in the bust area of dress. Judi said "this will be pricey". I said "what are talking here?" Judi said "$75.00" I said "Ouch, but okay" One week later, my daughter picks up dress and Judi is charging us $239!!! (that's $42/hr/ 6 hours). I begged Judi to work with us since she had said $75. She said no & that she never said it...I have one witness that says she did say $75. I don't why Judi treated us this way. After phoning her a few days later, I am more stunned with her attitude. I asked if she would forewarn future customers when the price will be so outrageously high, she wouldn't answer & then hung up. Judi has since blocked my phone number from being accepted on her phone. I think what I am most surprised at is Judi doesn't seem to care that she lost several customers and that I would be writing these reviews..I wonder how many other customers Judi has done this to? Unfortunately, I had an absolutely horrid experience after taking my wedding dress here. I was told to go here by my bridal salon, and really wish I would have done my research. I had many alterations needed for my dress, and the major one was changing the straps to make it backless. Judi was extremely abrasive, rude, and unhelpful. She spoke to us like we were stupid and ridiculous for wanting the types of straps that I wanted and told us that it could not be done. I took my dress elsewhere, and the seamstress did what I had wanted from the beginning in the first 5 minutes of me having it on. If you are having simple alterations done, then I'm sure this is a safe bet. But if you want to have anything done that you may need to change, or need help in coming up with a solution, this is not the place for you. This was a terrible experience and I would not recommend this place to any one! read more

There are some negative reviews that were hit jobs and untrue. Hieu did an AMAZING job on the alterations on my daughter's couture wedding gown. I wouldn't have trusted anyone but Hieu to do the work. She's an artist! She has more than 20 years high level experience. She shortened my daughter's gown and sewed the slip into the gown to avoid the extra bulk. Brilliant! She also made the perfect bustle and made certain we knew how to hook the bustle. She also made a lace lackey to go over top of gown. It was PERFECT. In addition Hieu altered my mother if the bride silk suit and made it fit me like a glove -- adding an inch to the waist. Also altered a second silk suit that I wore to rehearsal and dinner, altered a blazer for my husband, made a tablecloth for unity candle table-- and pressed attendants gowns. We looked beautiful because of Hieu and Bicky. Don't go anywhere else for alterations. The Seamstress is THE BEST and very fairly priced. I've referred many people and all thanked me because they were so pleased with the quality of work, prices and warm and courteous customer service. read more

Judi was an absolute angel, speaking as the mother of the bride! My daughter was an out-of-town bride. We had some difficulty with the size dress that was ordered by the bridal shop. Judi helped fix the mistake. She then was very patient in bringing to life the vision my daughter had in mind for changes to the dress. She was the consummate professional in every way. Judi altered my dress and it was a couture fit when she was done. My advice to bride's would be to buy your bling belt from Judi. I'll open with my scenario. Moved to FL and started new job the same week I came into Judi for a consultation. I had a Bill Levkoff light pink one-shoulder bridesmaid's dress that could best be described as a toga fit for a potato. Not to mention it was 2 inches "snug" in the chest and no spanx were going to help this baby zip. Did I mention I came in exactly 1 week before the wedding? I was planning ways to fake my own death because I figured there was no way I could stand up alongside the bride wearing this monstrosity. Judi was completely upfront that it was a horrific scenario, but she was up for the challenge. I came in on a Saturday morning by appointment and she had me in for second fitting 3 days later. I have no idea what the technically terminology is for what she and her girls did, but they basically remade that dress. Added panels to both sides, trimmed down the "toganess" on the one shoulder and hemmed to just above the knee. I had 2 fittings (2 more times than I ever wanted to wear that dress), but I walked out today actually excited for the wedding...for the first time. I went to a few shops in my hometown prior to finding Judi, and although their quotes were much cheaper, they didn't have the first clue how to alter this dress. You get what you pay for, and this was worth every penny. I'll definitely be back, but next time I'll try to give The Seamstress more than 5 days notice read more

I dont care what anyone says, Judi is a fairy godmother! First off, I bought the wedding dress of my dreams. It was gorgeous with amazing intricate beading and many many layers. Sadly I ordered a dress that was 1 (maybe 2) sizes too small. I was so upset. I thought I was not going to be able to wear it. I took it to Judi and she was brutally honest with me (which is what I wanted and needed to hear). She told me that she CAN take some out but that her biggest suggestion was to try to loose a few pounds. Im not overweight by any means. I am 5'4" at 124lbs. I wanted to loose about 5 lbs and tone up for the wedding anyways. Judi did not offend me at all mostly because I brought up loosing weight first. She was super nice and made me feel so much better knowing we could make my dress work. I lost the weight and judi made the dress fit perfectly! She even added beautiful ruffling to the top to make it a litte more modest and it looked like it was suppose to be on the dress. I LOVED IT. Let me start off by saying, I am not usually one to post negative reviews. Or any form of review for that matter. Each person experience in a restaurant, attraction or place of business is bound to be different and I typically stray away from Internet commentary all together. However, I was absolutely floored with the lack of customer service and blatant rude attitude displayed by Judith at The Seamstress. I am a bridesmaid in a wedding on January 2nd. Unfortunately, I was sent the wrong dress by the Bridal Shop I ordered from and I now face the difficult task of adding straps or modifying the top of my dress on a very tight deadline during the Holidays. I recognize this is a tall order and I went to The Seamstress on a recommendation from another local tailor. Not only was the room in complete disarray but Judith was on the phone having what seemed like a casual conversation with a friend. I waited for her to finish up, explained my predicament and showed a few pictures of ideas I had. The response I received was "no". When I pried for ideas or suggestions of what I should do she offered nothing. I went further to say I would pay any price and overnight extra fabric from the manufacturer to which I was told "good luck finding someone who will do that". Speaking as someone who comes from a service industry background and has dealt with some of the most difficult customers, I have never been so appalled by such a lack of customer service. Not to mention coming from a small business owner who I assume operates largely on word of mouth. I will never return or recommend this business in the future. And to make matters worse, as I sit here in the parking lot, Judith exits the building at 6:00pm on the dot (with multiple seamstresses still hard at work inside) and gets into a brand new Corvette with reindeer antlers sticking out of the windows.
