Cute cafe with all kinds of Asian desserts & drinks. Something Sweet is a cafe that's worth visiting. Menu includes egg sandos, croffles, bingsu, crepes, bubble waffles, coconut jelly & a wide variety of drinks. Literally a menu item for everybody! I didn't find the desserts overly sweet which is great. My fave items that I tried include the pineapple smoothie party (it's inside an actual pineapple), strawberry coconut jelly (very refreshing) and soybean bingsu It's a great spot to play board games, chill with friends, or have a coffee date

Hadn't been to Something Sweet in quite awhile. They've changed the decor since we last came here. It's got one of those black and white 2D looks to it; it's so whimsical with lollipops, hot air balloons, snowflakes and clouds hanging in every direction! We ordered Yuen Yeung and a White Grapes Sparkling Soda. My Yuen Yeung drink came with one of those cute Teddy Bear cubes, made of the drink itself instead of water, so the flavor of the drink doesn't get diluted. Loved my Yuen Yeung but my daughter's White Grapes Sparkling Soda was quite flat and not at all sparkly. Her friend had ordered a Sparkling Soda drink too, in a different flavor. That drink was also flat and not at all sparkly. Looking back, I think we had bought a sparkling soda drink from this place before and it wasn't very sparkly back then either. They really need to do something about their sparkling soda drinks. The rest of the drinks and food that we've tried have been good. I do find the food and drinks here are a bit overpriced for what they are...especially the drinks. The ambiance is nice though. It's got such a fun vibe to it...fun enough that I could possibly find myself back here again sometime. Probably not anytime soon though. Service: Good Parking: Paid parking on the street (Free parking about 2-3 blocks further down the street) Location: 6888 Royal Oak Ave. #101, Burnaby, BC

Asian themed dessert place by Royal Oak and Imperial. Parking is available on the side streets. The place has a bit of a retro theme with some old common Asian appliances along the back wall. Almost looks like someone's living room, but with a bit of an anime twist. Staff seem Taiwanese. They were friendly and helpful. The place does a wide range of Asian themed western style desserts. They have Korean, Japanese, and Chinese/Taiwanese type stuff. Pretty impressed with the selection. Pricing is mostly reasonable, but the bingsu (Korean shaved ice) sure is expensive. Something to keep in mind. The tiramisu bubble tea I had tasted like a liquid form of the dessert. Not too sweet also. Special mention. I wouldn't mind coming back for more dessert goodness at some point. Recommended.

I really liked the sandwiches here -- the egg is spectacular. We tried one with the scallops. The scallops themselves were ok. I actually would've been okay without them. I also got the coconut drink with the coffee ice bear! So cute!

Summer dream bubble wrap, mango pomelo sago drink

A cute dessert cafe in the Royal Oak area in South Burnaby. I came here with a few friends and there was plenty of seating and room for groups. There is an abundant of choices to fit all taste buds - this can be good or bad as sometimes it was hard to choose what to get. I got the summer dream bubble wrap and the mango pomelo sago drink. The bubble wrap was delicious and even had ice cream within it. I would recommend eating it on a napkin on its side as otherwise I found it was very easy for things to spill out. I wish the mango pomelo sago drink had a little bit less sugar but overall found both items quite delicious! Would recommend in the Burnaby area!

As a cafe frequenter it takes a lot for a spot to stand out to me and this was the spot to do it. The decor makes you feel like you're in a candy wonderland and the menu is absolutely delicious looking. Ordered a cheese egg Sando and the durian mango drink and both were super tasty. Service was quick and they have lots of tables to sit at whether you want to study or you want to hang out with friends

Finally got to try the Eggie Sando at Something Sweet. Got the Eggcellent and this was the first time I tried a Sando. The egg was nice and creamy and the bread was soft and tasty enough to have it on its own as well. The banana caramel latte looked like an interesting and I was daring enough to try it! The latte had good flavor of caramel and banana bits. Hubby got the milk tea with pearls. Something sweet has a large open space for seating with wall art on one of the walls. They had decorated for hallowean. I liked that they had pictures of drinks and food. Staff was friendly and we even got half off the milk tea for ordering the sando yay! Only caveat is they don't have any vegetarian food items without egg.

The décor is cute but drinks are a bit overpriced. I didn't like their sparkling drink here before cause it was too sweet so I haven't been back for a while. I noticed they updated the cafe with new food, décor and drinks. The staff also seem a lot friendlier and nicer. Saw their pandan drink on ig and had to try it. It's 12.95 ea which is quite steep for bbt. It came with a cute little dense panda marshmallow. But you can get it for less around 10 something if you get the coconut-pandan. If you're a fan of coconut you'll like the drink. I also tried their curry fish balls it was $10.45 for 12 and it was just okay. A bit too spicy and salty for my liking probably won't get it again. Their mango durian passion drink was good, very creamy and dense with durian and mango chunks.

We have been probably 10+ times over the years and have tried several dishes (usually sticking to the poutine but going rogue and ordering something different once in a blue moon) and have loved every dish. My go to favorite is the tuna poutine! I also love the short rib one however it is usually sold out. The cluck Norris sandwich is also great if you want a non breakfast item. I finally tried the beef bulgogi benny which was also great! Always recommend! Such fun brunch spot with great vibes, food. Can't go wrong!

After grabbing dinner with some friends, we wanted to grab dessert. I knew Nero Waffle was nearby,…read moreso I suggested it. I've only been to the original location on Robson years ago, so wasn't sure if the quality had stayed the same, but we thought it was worth trying. We ordered a Tiramisu and a Bresilienne to share between four people. It came out it in relatively short time. And wow, they were both even better than I remember. Their waffles are incredibly crisp and light, despite the amount of toppings on them. I don't know how they make them so they stay so resistant to going soggy. And despite the amount of whipped cream, ice cream and sauce on them, the waffle was always able to balance out the sweetness. Their waffles are just perfect balance of flavour and texture. Service was also quite impressive. Our server was very pleasant and attentive, and brought share plates with out being asked. Overall, a great dessert. I don't know why I haven't returned earlier.

Vanilla custard was nice and you can see vanilla bean flecks. Pistachio flavour was ok) Overall, I would come back just for their BRUSSELS waffle and during brunch time as they have the Benedict option!

It's much smaller than the other location, especially in the kitchen, but very quaint! The server/cashier/barista/chef was very kind. This location must be a tough one to work at - I hope they're paid accordingly! She was a one-woman show, and she was doing a fantastic job at handling the many tasks. (We visited about 4:30 on Saturday on Oct 25) They were great lattes, even some latte art! We went all-out on this visit. I had a Banella Brûlée, absolutely perfect. Everything is a bit sweet but that's what you're looking for when you order an ice cream waffle, right?! The Oreo was also a great choice. The tables are a bit small, but it's manageable. If it was full, I may be a bit claustrophobic but I think it's fine if there's some room. Overall, highly recommend for a latte or a sweet treat. They have some seasonal mini leige waffles if you're looking for something on the go!
