There are at least 2 other boba places from recognizable national chains a couple blocks away, but this one is locally owned. I stopped by about a half hour before closing on a weeknight. There were a couple customers already seated in the dimly-lit space. It looked like a college hangout, with a few tables and ample space to mill around and wait while being serenaded by Taylor Swift (the soundtrack of the night). I don't tolerate caffeine too well after a certain hour, so I was happy to see that they offered a decaf tea option in the form chamomile -- an unusual option at a boba shop. I got a hot chamomile tea with bubbles and half sugar. The bubbles were rather soft, even for a hot tea drink, and sweeter than I would've preferred, but it still hit the spot on a rainy fall night. If there were a next time, I would get 30% or no sugar added to offset the bubbles and the natural sweetness of the tea. The employees seemed nice, but I didn't interact with them much. The human-run register only accepted cash, so I ordered at the kiosk to use my card.

That's don't impress me much!…read more That's the feeling I have. Queens Cup has been on my list for about 3 years. I admit, I am weak for frosting so I figured this had to be a win for me. Good location, tough parking if you can't get in their small lot and good luck scoring a table (i think there were only 2!) But that's not the reason for disappointment. It's the product. Magic cookie bars are one of my favorite sweet treats so I had to buy one (at a high cost of $7!) It's heavy and dense but the flavor... the crust was inconsistent. Too thick and too think at points. The taste... it tastes like an M&M (with a slight hint of coconut.) I could have saved myself a lot of money just buying a bag of M&M's. But I don't like M&M's! See the problem? (And there were small M&M's on the top which is ok but it was overpowering.) I also had to try something cupcake related right? My daughter got a huge slice of funfetti cake. I had one layer of the cake. I can share the frosting was thick and dense. I like it sweet and melts in my mouth. Thus was not that. The cake itself was dense too. I was my cake fluffy. Overall I was let down and Queens Cup is off the return list.

I had really high hopes for this bakery, especially since it's part of the local pastry trail, and…read moreoverall, it delivered a solid experience. First off, it's definitely one of those small, tucked-away spots you could easily miss if you didn't know it was there, but once you walk in, the decor is so cute. Think cozy, shabby chic vibes that make it feel warm and welcoming right away. The standout for me? The dinner roll. Honestly, one of the best I've ever had. It was dense, rich, and satisfying, not your typical light, airy Kaiser roll. It reminded me more of a Jamaican hard dough bread in texture and weight, which I personally loved. Super flavorful and filling. I was also really happy about their buy three, get one free promotion. It made it easy to try a few different things without feeling like I was overdoing it. As for the pastries, I tried the cinnamon roll and carrot cake. I didn't finish either, but the carrot cake definitely gave true homemade vibes. It had coconut mixed in, wasn't overly sweet, and felt more traditional than indulgent. If you like a less sugary, more classic-style carrot cake, you'll probably appreciate it. Overall, this bakery is worth a stop, especially if you're exploring the pastry trail. Not everything wowed me, but there were definitely some highlights that made it a good visit.
