This is THE ABSOLUTE BEST place for cakes and cupcakes. I bought 24 assorted cupcakes for a birthday party in Boston. Not only were they beautiful but they were DELICIOUS. Literally the hit of the party. Sidenote: staff are super kind and helpful. Don't miss this place!

Carefree continues to amaze! Delicious flavors and creative designs. We love the red velvet and the lemon cakes.

Not only is everyone working at Carefree Cakery absolutely delightful and their shop so welcoming and bright, but their product is top notch! They're true artists here! These are hands down the best cupcakes and cakes I've ever had. Plus they've got vegan and gluten free options making it so easy to bring inclusive treats to your loved ones. The cake is fresh and flavorful and it's accentuated by the most delicious, light buttercream frosting. You can't go wrong with any of their flavors but lemon, chocolate raspberry, coffee shop, and mint chocolate chip are next level. Their carrot cake is also to die for! You should also do yourself a favor and buy yourself a cosmic brownie for the road.

THE RED VELVET CUPCAKE I had was moist, sumptuous, sweet but not-too-sweet, and just absolutely divine. One of the BEST cupcakes I've had in my whole life!!!! Certainly in the top echelon of bakery cupcakes-- I will definitely be back. Plus I love the fair trade ingredients. If yall ever make whole grain cakes I will be a devout worshipper. But until then you're still gonna be my go-to for bakery cupcakes and cakes!

I contacted Alysia and she was very prompt with her response and always had an answer for any of my questions. The process for ordering a cake was super smooth and easy. I sent her some ideas and pictures of what we wanted and she brought them to life. The cake was exactly what we wanted and it was so good. The only thing I would change is the size of cake... only because everyone ate it and I barely got any. I HIGHLY recommend Alysia and Carefree Cakery. Will definitely be back

Cakes are fresh and delicious. Service is great, the few times I've been here they've done the most to make sure I got what we wanted. This is my go to for baked sweets!

We wanted something simple and timeless, with a fun tieback to our venue. The final cake was a gorgeous, small two-tier creation that felt so "us"--simple but classic. They even worked with our venue to add beautiful white florals from the farm, making it look effortlessly elegant. The best was that they were kind enough to accommodate our request for a fun twist--Oreo cookie crumble with Oreo frosting on the inside, a nod to my husband's favorite flavor.

Alysia is amazing to work with - prompt, kind, and open to any ideas. Our elopement cake was beautiful and one of the best cakes we've ever had! Not only that, but the price is affordable and options are endless.

I wish I could give this place 6 stars! The cupcakes were delicious, they gave us coloring books and crayons for our daughters, and the ambience and vibe in here is impeccable

I've tasted their cakes and cupcakes, which happen to be as delicious as every one within their sample platter.

I was buying a last-minute birthday cake, and found a delectable selection of ready-made cakes that he had baked and decorated. Next to them were an assortment of remaining pastries from the day in his display case, each a different kind of fluffy indulgence. Even if I wanted to be considerate of his time, he appreciated me taking the space to choose the cookies and pastries I took home alongside a Black and White frosted marble cake. Before I left, he managed to tell me a story as a token of his gratitude. Greggory had been making cakes on the other side of the country, and how even if people from around the world came to his host's shop for cakes, the human connection meant more than just the art or industry of cake making. The area he came home to has a community of people who became his clients, regular customers, and friends. Before I left, I was touched that even if I were being his last customer of the day, he treated me as if I were as important as his first or any in between. No, I didn't get to clear out his remaining stock, even if I wanted to try each of what remained. But I know where to look for him when coming east from 91--he's to your right on the south, at the corner of the building I'd describe as "that house-like outlet strip mall barn." Yes, the nearby farms do help this description appear natural. :)

They did. So I came back a THIRD time and ordered it AGAIN, just to see if they can still keep their vegan cheese melted just right on top. It was incredible, AGAIN. Now that I've gotten this out of the way, ask where it is on their new menu as it is under revision--I don't like the tempeh version as much. Onto the rest of the atmosphere of Cushman. One of the most pleasant features of Cushman Market and Cafe is that it is nestled at an important corner in northeast Amherst. You need to travel further west to get to The Mill District and not much opens there early, and there's little else I can recall in the other cardinal directions. It's a pleasant trip, with plenty of parking in front, behind, and in a strip of side road across the street. I've never been in the market, so let me keep talking about the Cafe. The atmosphere of the Cafe is wonderful, with locals, safety officers, and regulars all visiting at each meal hour from breakfast to lunch. Nestled inside what looks like an old barn, complete with doors still hanging, Cushman has memorabilia from decades of music, sports, politics, and news frozen under acrylic, different for many of their tables. The café seems to have at most 20 chairs, and the staff behind the counter will deliver it to your table, call your name, or leave other orders by a stand near the back entrance. Cushman Cafe offers a variety of meals, alongside baked goods and freshly mixed café drinks. While I'm not a fan of the switcherels, I have enjoyed their dirty Chai lattes, iced teas, fresh coffees, and free water if I recall in a pinch. They have gender neutral bathrooms--which is great if you're tired of waiting in line for one of two as they are large but single occupancy. They offer cold panini sandwiches, hot panini, all sorts of eggs, egg sandwiches, and egg breakfasts, vegan and vegetarian options, alongside a seemingly visible carnivorous focus for their new menu's default. If you had a chance to hop on a bus and travel around Amherst, or you were passing through to the highways, Cushman Cafe is worth a quick stop. I've rarely had to wait long for my meals even in busy hours, and this is because of the large and competent kitchen, who--if you'll remember--can get a delicious sandwich right any day of the week. I hope cell service returns there!

I've spent a…read morelifetime standing in line at legendary smokehouses, watching pitmasters tend post oak fires through the night, and judging brisket by its bark before I ever take the first bite. So, I'll admit, I approached a barbecue restaurant north of the Mason-Dixon Line with equal parts curiosity and skepticism. What first caught my eye at Wildwood Barbeque was the stack of firewood out back. That always gets a Texan's attention. I never spotted a traditional offset smoker, though. Walking through the front door, I picked up the unmistakable aroma of hickory, and maybe a touch of apple smoke, which immediately put my senses on high alert. A glance toward the kitchen revealed one of those modern hybrid smoker ovens. Purists may debate them, but at the end of the day the food is what matters. One look at the menu made it clear Wildwood isn't trying to be a bare-bones barbecue joint. It's a full-fledged Southern restaurant serving burgers, po'boys, salads, sandwiches, Cajun favorites, comfort food, and smoked meats. Before I even ordered, though, my eyes wandered to the dessert case where the cake slices looked big enough to have their own ZIP code. Around Texas, we'd simply say they're as big as a county. I kicked things off with an order of burnt ends before settling on the sweet tea-brined smoked chicken. The burnt ends arrived carrying a wonderful kiss of hardwood smoke and what tasted like a light coating of barbecue sauce. They were cut into small cubes, and while several pieces were tender and flavorful, others received too much time in the pit. The smoked chicken, however, was the star of the meal. Every bite carried the subtle sweetness of the tea brine, balanced by a well-seasoned rub that finished with just enough spice to keep things interesting. It was juicy, smoky, and thoughtfully prepared. The lone disappointment was the potato salad. As someone who's eaten just about every version served from Texas smokehouses, from mustard-based Hill Country recipes to creamy East Texas family traditions, I honestly couldn't figure out what this one was trying to be. It lacked the character and comforting simplicity that make potato salad the perfect barbecue side. Wildwood may not transport you to Lockhart, Lexington, or Taylor, but it doesn't have to. It carves out its own identity by blending Southern cooking with smoked meats, and the chicken alone is worth coming back for. Just save room for one of those Texas-sized slices of cake.

The windows were dirty, the floor was dirty and several tables hadn't been cleaned. This is the first impression people have and it doesn't matter if the food is good or not. They won't come back. If I had to go by the front of the house my thoughts are that the kitchen is dirty too. That being said. So much potential that is being lost because of these little things . Good luck in the future.
