I live in spring valley and I hate having to drive far for good mechanics. I found this shop based on Yelp reviews and I'm glad I came here. Duy is super friendly and honest. I came to his shop to have him diagnosed my suspension problem. He couldn't find anything damaged (I couldnt also but I needed a 2nd opinion which is why I took it to a professional). Instead of charging me the full price he charged me half. He also gave me some advice on how to improve my car suspensions. I drive a 2016 hyundai veloster so I know these cars are loosy goosey with the rear end. His information was spot on. A few weeks later I took my car back to have the rear sway bar installed cause I couldnt get it on right. The charged for installation was way below other shop. After reading these reviews, my husband and I decided to use Lemon Grove Automotive for a pre-purchase inspection on a car we were interested in at a nearby dealership. It was very easy to schedule with Duy over the phone, and he explained what we should expect from the inspection and urged us to test-drive the car first so as not to waste our money on the pre-purchase inspection if we noticed anything funky. We arrived early with the vehicle and Duy greeted us there and was very friendly. He quoted us an hour and a half time frame. He called us back about an hour and fifteen minutes later, so the job was done quicker than expected. He showed us everything that was wrong with the vehicle and gave us his opinion that he would not purchase that vehicle as it had some severe issues. He took the time to explain everything to us thoroughly and gave us recommendations on what kind of cars to look at next. I am so thankful we brought the car to Duy, because otherwise we would have bought a total lemon since it seemed ok during the test drive. Duy is THE BEST! Enough said, but okay I'll say some more. I've been meaning to write this review for a while. I have been here 3-4 times now and had some significant work done on my fuel injection/exhaust system (02 sensors, catalytic converter, ...). Each time I've come in, Duy is careful and thorough and explains everything along the way (in the most respectful, non mansplainy way!). He is really thorough in his problem solving about the fix and there have never been any surprises with the work, cost, or timeline. By the time I decide on what work to go through with I feel totally confident in the decision to move forward and feel like he's been honest and taken great care of me the whole way! Not only that, he's a joy to interact with. I cannot recommend Duy and his business enough! Especially as a woman, I am always concerned I'll be taken advantage of at a car repair shop. This shop was recommended to us by a friend and we are so thrilled and relieved to have a trustworthy and quality spot to bring our cars. We have a 2007 Toyota Yaris that we want to keep running as long as possible. The guys at Lemon Grove Automotive are making it happen. Whenever something comes up they are able to take us on short notice. They diagnose the problem quickly and make recommendations on what needs attention to keep the car going and what we will just keep an eye on and fix in the future. These guys were great. I kept hitting brick wall after brick wall when calling around to high rated shops on yelp. I have this old 1973 van and no one wanted to work on it. Finally, one of the shops referred me to Lemon Grove Auto and they were happy to take a look at it. So I took it in and within a few hours they were done with the work. Today October 7 my air conditioner in my 2006 Huyandi Sonata wasn't working and I called and Dewey said they closed at 3:00 but it was 2:00 and he said they could take a look at it and explained the cost. I can't say enough about how great this place is. I've come here a couple times for various things. First for a smog check, second for replacing my tires, and third (just yesterday) to fix the grinding sound my brakes were making. I when in for a upper end rebuild. Upon assemble these guys broke mounting bolts and cracked the head, after it was pressure tested at a machine shop and certified good. They did not loop the timing belt correctly so the auto screeched loudly from the moment I pulled it off the lot. A simple road test would have revealed this, which they did not do. Internally the cam timing was off by one tooth, so the auto never ran right and my gas millage sucked! They refused to fix any of the problems even though they said the work was guaranteed! All of these problems were discovered when I went somewhere else to get the auto fixed correctly. They don't deserve one star can I give them less? Can you say law-suit? read more
