Inspector clearly did not drive the vehicle and missed a huge red flag being a loud, jolting clunk when turning. This was not notated on his report and upon further inspection done by myself, someone who is not well versed in cars, figured out it is the front differential which will cost me thousands. Pathetic excuse of an inspection missing such a glaring issue that would've prevented me from purchasing the vehicle. The fact I'm likely not going to be compensated for this joke of an inspection is infuriating. Thanks for nothing! read more

Absolutely terrible experience. I ordered my inspection after seeing mostly favorable reviews. I was interested in a car out of state and was relying on Lemonsquad to provide a detailed inspection. The order was placed and received on a Friday at 1pm. The car was not inspected until the following Thursday and I did not receive the report until that Friday. It took a full week. The inspection stated that issues were minor in nature and only cosmetic. Surface rust, minor dings and scratches, etc. I moved forward with the purchase and was excited to see my new vehicle! What arrived was a vehicle that has had major body work done to the entire front end. The bumper was sagging, the panels don't line up (a key feature in the report which was a solid green check) and the head light and tail light both show markings indicating they were replaced. I am now in the process of trying to get a refund that can be used to fund a frame inspection at my local mechanic. After that I may have to return the vehicle and, potentially, hire legal council to deal with another state's lemon laws. Lemonsquad is a great concept, but is a waste of money. They are also impossible to communicate with and generally don't seem to care that hard working people are trusting their "expertise" with a major expense in their lives. Hired and paid for classic car inspection, in this case an air cooled Porsche 911 located in Eugene, Oregon. Aside from the fact that the pictures were all but useless, there was no written or photographic VIN verification and no reference to corrosion/rust in the report (a critical element on classic cars). What took the prize was the report pointed out that the coolant level and color were good and that the radiator cap was secure. That's good news except that an air cooled Porsche doesn't have a radiator or use coolant. I tried to reach someone in customer service and when I finally did they promised a prompt return call from a "manager". That never happened so I posted my review on the Lemon Squad dashboard and within minutes the report had been redacted to cover the false reporting. Thankfully I saved the original report but I doubt that anyone from Lemon Squad will ever follow up. read more

BUYERS BE WARE!! This is the worst inspection I have ever received in my life. I had Lemon Squad inspect a vehicle for me in another state since I could not make it there due to my schedule. I hired them to be my fiduciary to protect my interest and investment. They failed me in every way, The inspector could not take the vehicle out on a test drive because the owner would not let him take it out in bad weather. At any rate, he was able to perform an inspection on the engine compartment as well as the interior of the car. To make a long story short, the inspector missed many issues which are mindboggling to me. First, his picture he sent me shows antifreeze all over the radiator but yet he market it as working normally, Here are some other easy things he missed: headlights not working, horn not working, interior lights not working, radio not working, headliner sagging, door handles missing parts, the rear seat had rips in the vinyl was torn and form was disintegrating and falling off at the bottom of the seat. There were so many simple things they could have caught which would have allowed me to negotiate a better deal or walk away from the deal all together. However, I trusted them and bought the vehicle. If you use this company, you have no one to blame now but yourself. I wish I had read more reviews before I hired them!!! read more

Inspector said that the vehicle had no issuses with steering, suspension or braking. I show up later that day go on test drive. While driving with the salesman and brother on the freeway within 5 minutes truck goes into death wobble. I contacted lemon squad about it. they could care less stated that their inspector said it was fine which it was not. Stay away, stay far away. I ordered a ppi from this outfit and asked, when the inspector could be at the dealership where the car was located. They told me, the coming Friday, not later than Saturday. That was good enough for me, so I booked a flight to San Franciscco (I`m from Dallas) for Saturday, expecting them to show up at the promised time and date. I waited all day but nobody showed. Ultimately, I decided to buy the car without a ppi (I know, that`s not very smart but it was from a franchise dealership and the car was much better than I expected) but if my decision woud have been based on their results, I would have been screwed. So if you really need a ppi, find a local shop who does it and buy yourself a code reader on Aamazon for $ 100. Lemon Squad? Called in for evaluating a used car . The technician arrived at the car dealer site and examined the car .He later reported that due to lack of gas he never took it for a test drive and also did not use the car lift that they have on site. I got reported mainly on exterior scratches which I could clearly see for myself. When I asked to complete the inspection later I was charged extra for what was supposed to be part of the initial service. In the end I never got the complete report . I hired them to inspect an out of state car. The inspector stated the car was a "10/10l and a "real beaut". I had it transported to me and when started the check engine light immediately comes on. I check the oil and there is barely anything in the engine. What is there is black, burnt, and sludgy. The radiator also had zero fluid. The catalytic converter was completely rusted and falling apart. In two months, I have driven less than 200 miles because the car has been consistently broken down and in the shop. I have had to replace; the entire engine, the thermostat, heater core, solenoid, catalytic converter. It's been towed 4 separate times. I have spent over 4k to fix a 7k car. I contacted the company to try and rectify and was told I would hear back in 48-72 hours. That was 2 weeks ago and I haven't heard a thing. I now have an open BBB complaint and a lawyer. I wasn't able to look at the car as I'm in another state, but I was concerned with rust and I mentioned that when i ordered the service. The only pictures i got under the car are ones that he stuck the camera under the car door and shot the pic right through the other side of the car, I couldn't see anything of the underside of the car, most notably the wheel wells where rust forms. And I'm sure the inspector never looked there either. The mechanic waited until the end of the day (2 hours before the dealership was supposed to close to go out and inspect the vehicle). Then, when I finally got ahold of them, they lied and said the truck had been sold (I had literally just talked with the dealership 20 minutes before confirming that the vehicle had been sold). The delay has made it impossible to cancel my flight without losing the cost of the ticket (non-refundable). Choosing services from here has cost me $480 and no inspection was done. They also make no guarantees as to when the inspection will take place. So they can take a month to inspect your car if they want to. Its all buried in their terms and conditions. I requested their services on the night of Wednesday Sept 27th. I knew their policy was to do the inspection one day after the request so I knew the actual inspection wouldn't get done until Friday Sept 29th. I gave them the information for the dealership's phone number and then later messaged the Lemon Squad messaging system with the direct cell phone number of my sales agent at the dealership for direct contact. After sending that message all I got from their team was an "Okay". On Friday Sept 29th later in the day I got a call from my sales agent who told me the Lemon Squad team was at the dealership working on the car and he encouraged me to get the information asap because he was also showing the car to another customer. I told him I wouldn't get the report until the following day (Saturday Sept 30) and he said that, while unfortunate, we both thought the car might still be available on Saturday. On Saturday I kept checking my Lemon Squad account waiting for the published report so I could go straight to the dealership. On my dashboard, it said that nothing was moving at all. I did not get a report by the end of day on Saturday. On Sunday, I knew both Lemon Squad and the dealership were closed. I at least expected my report on Monday. I did not get a report on Monday. By this time, the car I ordered the inspection for was taken off the dealership website and sold. And I still didn't even have the inspection report. I saw on my Lemon Squad dashboard that it said the inspection had actually been done on Saturday Sept 30th - which was not true because I knew they had been there on Friday...but even if they had done the inspection on a Saturday, I still should have gotten a report on Monday. It is now Tuesday, I have lost the car, am out 200$, and still don't even have a report. I called Lemond Squad and expressed my extreme frustration and all the person said was "sorry". read more

Our first experience with Lemonsquad was for a car purchasd in Houston, we live in LA. Thanks to Lemonsquad we felt confident to purchase a used car sight unseen that was a great deal and have it shipped via Easy Ship. They provide a pretty detailed report with pictures, after test driving and inspecting the car. I have asked for specific things to be inspected too, and they checked things like the sound system and any other details I requested and was additionally concerned with. Since then, with two newer drivers in our home, we have used Lemonsquad several times and will use them before any used car purchase. Great service! Well worth it for us. I got my car exactly a month back from today,before buying I Paid 149.95 for premium inspection,And the inspection report was the deciding factor for me to buy the car,The car report was very good and i went ahead with the deal.The report had nothing new mentioned which we could not see. 10 days after getting the car and only 200 miles driven ,my car wouldnt start.and diagnosis itself took me 112 dollars at Toyota centre,telling me an issue with breaklight switch etc which need to be replaced. I paid for two inspections during my search for a car for my needs. The first one I could see was in an accident so I expected a review reflecting that, but the engine showed more issues so I decided to keep looking. I loved the customer service from this company, when the second person decided not to let me inspect the vehicle they let me transfer the payment to another vehicle and refunded me the additional mileage fee I had paid. I only did not rate them 5 stars because I was shocked this next vehicle was rated at a D, which is what they had rated the first car in an accident with major engine problems. The car could've passed for an honest C because I ended up getting it and even the people at Midas said this car was a steal of a deal, just needed servicing. We ordered a Lemon Squad report for a used truck that we wanted to purchase in Ohio. While the report was timely and had some pictures, the tech did not report that the two catalytic converters were missing, something our mechanic noted right away on a visual inspection, This was a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT because we would have negotiated the cost for the repair in the price of the vehicle, costing us an additional $1500 on top of the $10,000 price for the truck. I have bought cars for many years and use eBay quite often. In the past I have been lucky and never had problems or ordered inspections. However, found a car in Chicago at a dealer that had dubious postings online and only had classified on eBay - no listing, no reviews. They were eager to pick up my trade and make a deal - and my gut told me to maybe check on inspection service...so I googled and narrowed it down to 3 and selected Lemon Squad. My car was considered "exotic" so the cost was $189 - one company online was cheaper, one was more - but this company showed a sample report, offered pictures and would get it done within 48 hours... so I booked the inspection. The company website kept me updated and two days after I ordered I saw the report which saved me $43K because the car had some real problems that would have caused me major repair pains, including bad paint and body work! My $189 investment was well worth it! In fact, the owner of Lemon Squad called me and spent the time to discuss his findings - gave me his cell # to give to credit card company if I had problem with getting my deposit back!! Above and beyond the call of duty and I have learned a valuable lesson about trusting online buys.... even though I'd bought many cars over the years, the $189 and peace of mind was so worth it. I have only great things to say about Andy and his company - and the inspector (unknown name) who went to do the inspection and was concise and descriptive. Buyer beware - use a car inspection service for internet purchases. Lemon Squad inspector finds damage repair and multiple problems with 860 mi untitled new/used car. Saved a lot of headaches. VIN# JN1AY1AP6GM100012 When a car dealer has a 2-star Yelp rating it's a strong warning to consumers, and would suggest it's time for a little self-assessment by the dealer before they succumb to the abyss of dishonest and unethical car dealers. It's also a warning to consumers to use an inspection service. I found Infiniti's $72,665 MSRP flagship Q70s offered by Clear Lake Nissan. Listed as "used" with just 767 miles (860 actually). The car was untitled (never registered), but located in Houston. I am in California. One should have confidence in Manager Ray Kirkland's representation the vehicle was "perfect" with no damage (it's never been registered). Hopefully, no one is that stupid - it was not true. Kirkland had also asked for a $2500 non-refundable deposit or the car would likely be sold, again assuring me the car was perfect. Well that's not going to happen without a complete independent inspection - as borne out by the Lemon Squad results below. I ordered an inspection and also did a little sleuthing - I learned the car was a RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE. Oops, that never came up in the dealer's "perfect car" sales pitch, nor did the damage found by the inspector. Manager Kirkland responded he knew it was stolen, but was not damaged so he didn't want to cloud the sale. "We tried the have the stolen information removed from Car Fax" says Kirkland. Enter the diligent independent vehicle inspector, who give the recovered stolen, 860 mi. untitled "perfect car" a "B" rating, noting (with great pictures); 1. The vehicle shows prior paint and body work done to driver door and the door has been repainted 2. Interior has "light wear" (how, with only 860 miles?) 3. Scratches on the right rear quarter panel 4. Tire pressure sensor failure light on ( TP sensors $80-120/ea. and the TPS light is obvious on the dash) should also be an OBD code - but didn't show up - hmmmm? (Lemon Squad notes; "Computer system scanned: no problems with current or pending codes. No problems with live data. It is possible for some sneaky sellers to erase codes before we arrive, in which case some issues may be hidden.") 5. DOT tire date 0215 = 2nd week of 2015 - 3 years old? 6. Car Fax indicates vehicle was serviced at 465 mi in California, and again at 771 mi. on 12/4/2017 by Clear Lake Nissan, yet the Lemon Squad photo of black oil is clearly not consistent with that claim. (yup - even took a photo of the oil). 7. Curb rash on rear wheel. Of course, that ends a sale quickly and the dealer's credibility. Kirkland wasted 1 1/2 weeks, and a (invaluable) $160 inspection fee to corroborate his claims. Fortunately the inspection averted shipping the car to California only to discover the truth. It is a little challenging with Lemon Squad to get an inspection scheduled - they are not in Houston but dispatch nationwide. There is no contact with the inspector - as explained on the website. This seems to be a common complaint - buyers waiting for a report when facing a sale or weather constraints. Texas is a no-refund state so a deposit is pointless. Even a text of "no issues found" probably extremely rare, or problems found - report pending - or perhaps a premium option to get a short call on inspection completion if needed. No one wants to lose a car waiting a day or two for the report. The positive is I had the full report and great photos the next day at 1:45pm which was extremely helpful. Ended the purchase immediately, and avoided shipping a damaged theft recovery to California. read more

As a preface, please take the negative reviews with the salt their writers had, as they seem all to be from people who think that a favorable / non-negative rating on a vehicle means "This vehicle is absolutely invincible, and will run trouble-free for the next trillion miles. Worry not, as you can park her in a location perennially flooded with water, hydrochloric acid, or even molten stone. If you should find reason and opportunity to run her at 120MPH through a cinder-block wall, she'll emerge on the other side unscathed. She'll also do your taxes, will console you during times of stress, and, long after your death and far before her expiration, will hunt down your enemies and ensure that they die grisly, unexplainable deaths. Also, the gas tank refills itself, as does the cup holder, which is populated every morning with your favorite coffee." Seriously. ASE-certified mechanics are not gods. Nobody can foresee a problem that has yet to exist. That being said, the mechanic who Lemon Squad promptly dispatched to examine a vehicle I considered purchasing was extraordinarily thorough with his review, even moreso than I would have been, given my professional experience in automotive service. He thoroughly detailed everything wrong he found with the vehicle, including a staggering 89 - yes, eighty-nine - pictures. Here are a few highlights, taken verbatim and in toto from the report: - "The transmission extension housing seal was leaking." - "The drivers wiper blade on both ends was not touching the glass, they were sticking up." - "The right rear turn signal was not working and the top brake light was not working. The left taillight lens was cracked." - "The driver seat cushion was torn and has a hole on the left most. The right seat cushion was stained." - "The power steering pump and steering gear seals on the rack and pinion was leaking fluid." And this one is of particular interest. "Check engine" codes - which will often cause your vehicle to fail an inspection - can be cleared to prevent the "check engine" light from illuminating. Dishonest sellers do this often, as the average buyer does not possess an OBD2 scanner. - "There were OBD-2 codes pulled. P0420 catalytic converter related, P0700 transmission related. Both codes were in the memory. The check engine light was not on." In short, Lemon Squad did precisely what I expected by preventing me from purchasing a vehicle with *foreseeable* problems. What a great experience. I ordered an inspection in the morning and it was conducted on the same day, and the report was delivered the following day, first thing in the morning. I was very happy with the details and the photos, and the fact that the inspector identified that the front turn signals were not functional - something I would have NEVER thought to check! They did a very thorough job of inspecting and photographing a car that my son was interested in just out of state. Saved us a long trip, because though the car seemed to looked good on the internet it had issues. The underside had rust issues a muffler part that looked soldered by an owner, (you could see it in the inspection photos), and also had a computer issue with the throttle, as well as a non working air bag system. The inspection was done in a timely fashion, and was very clear and detailed. We are using lemon Squad again for another car inspection, and hope to get the same type of service. Well we had the Lemon Squad do another inspection, and again they did a pretty thorough job, although not as good as the first. The first had a lot more photos and some more commentary, but all in all you do get a good inspection and knowledge of the car. Unfortunately for us, both of the cars were too flawed to purchase, but thankfully Lemon Squad saved us a ton of time and money. We're hoping three times the charm lol. read more

I paid 139.99 for the Expert inspection and they handled everything. The mechanic worked with the seller to arrange a time that was convenient for him and all I had to do was sit back and wait for the report. Before publishing the report, they called me personally and explained what I was about to receive. I don't know a lot about cars and this conversation was invaluable. Based on their recommendation, I ended up not purchasing that particular car, but they answered so many addition questions related to other vehicles before I even paid to have another inspection. The report itself was extremely detailed and included 34 pictures of the vehicle (exterior, interior, engine, underside), included notes on problem areas and repairs needed. The next time I buy a car I will use these guys again no question. read more

I paid $149.95 for the Premium Inspection. For this the inspector, who in ASE like all their inspectors, inspected the car in Salem almost a 90 minute drive for me. He let me know, by special request the condition of the control arm and the underside. He inspected the body, interior, and mechanics. He took about 20 pictures for me. He performed the inspection the next business day and sent me the report (with pictures) that same night. I talked with him and he gave me advice on the repairs, what they might cost, and recommend I ask the seller to reduce the price. After he pointed out the dents, the tread of the three tires, the need for a tune up, and a belt adjustment. I found that the car needed $600-800 in repairs. I was able to use this information, with report in hand, to talk down the seller $800. All in all, spending $149.95 actually saved me $650. Needless to say I am pretty happy. Is this a legitimate review because I gave a 5 out of 5, the best rating, on Yelp? Well, I work for a nonprofit in Portland and last I wasn't employed by a national car inspection agency, so there you go. read more
