I've held off on writing this review for a while because the food at Lemongrass tastes REALLY good (well, the 2 things I've had there)... BUT- they currently have a cockroach problem (which is no surprise if you've seen the amount of junk/trash they have in their back alley), I've been given bad/very sour Thai iced coffee once before, and I've had moldy tofu in my Panang Tofu dish (and since the tofu is fried, you can't tell it's moldy tofu until you cut the piece of tofu open... IF you do!). A few times, I thought there was hair in my food as well but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt and telling myself it was some kind of spice or herb that looked like very short hair. I also think the fryer oil isn't changed very often. Seems like when they first opened, it was wonderful and it's been in a slow decline ever since. Today was my last try... sadly, I have to say I'm done with Lemongrass for good. P.S. MANY people in my office will also never go there again for various reasons (and they're right next door!) read more

Mediocre food not representative of fragrant Thai food. It's been a while since we've been here and maybe they changed the chef, but the food on this visit was very disappointing: chicken satay was simple grilled chicken on skewers, minimal spices and flavor, lettuce wraps in damp lettuce, and a chicken dish that could have been out of a jar. They also claimed to close at 9pm but a couple were turned away at 8:50. Shame, it used to be our go-to place for great Thai food; it will be a while before we return. read more

One of the biggest things Lemongrass has going for it is authentic Thai staff in the kitchen - something these days you don't see as much of in 'trendy' restaurants as the kitchen staff is usually from a country far down south. The menu is interesting to say the least but anything but authentic. This is NOT a thai restaurant but more a thai-style joint. They do use some authentic ingredients such as opal basil, blue ginger, and of course lemongrass I've never had a bad dish here but I have had very inconsistent and sometimes juvenile service, have been denied take-out service because they were 'too busy' and the place could not possibly be louder or more over crowded - very poor design. Fortunately they opened Lemongrass 2 which makes up for that mistake in the very pricey rental district of 'UPTOWN' West Street. The place is good and would easily impress the easily impressionable but I rarely go back for anything in particular unless I'm right in the area at lunch or dinner time and feel like waiting in line. If you want authentic Thai in the area try Thai Gour in Glen Burnie (yes Glen Burnout) or Mayo Thai Kitchen in Edgewater (yup Edgewater) - these places are serious business on the food but lack by far the atmosphere of Lemongrass. When I go for ethnic food I could care less as to how chic they are - it's all about the food, especially authenticity. read more

Food was good but food came in 15 mins and we were quickly done in another 15. we were in the middle of our drinks, when we were asked to leave our table and told that someone else was waiting for it and offered another table outside, when outside was pouring rain. read more

How do you even rate a restaurant this good? Lemongrass blows away the competition, and that's not an insult to Annapolis restaurants- our city is filled with them. However, Lemongrass stands out as uniquely amazing among the cuisines here. My girlfriend and I come here about once a week and have yet to get tired of it. The food is consistently fresh, perfectly cooked, and incredibly tasty. The service is amazing and very quick (Brooke is our usual waitress, she's amazing, ask for her) and the staff will always greet you with a smile. The people here are clearly passionate about the food, and it shows in the taste, presentation, and service. Menu standouts include the garden rolls, any form of fried rice, and especially the Panang curry. Of course, don't forget to finish it all off with some mango sticky rice. They are great at accommodating dietary restrictions, and the restaurant is very vegan friendly. Overall, I couldn't recommend this place highly enough! read more

This place delivers quality Thai! And it's grown on me each time I've visited. Not a cocktail person generally but their light, fruity ones appeal and pair well with apps. Red curry with tofu and veggies is yummy. It's a pleasant spot for a casual date night or night out with friends. read more

Lost my patience waiting for the food. I ordered Thai duck curry and it was hopeless. I would never come back to this place

you know i used to love this place and have been there multiple times. i bought a groupon and went this weekend and they must have a new chef or something. i dont know what happened but this place sucks. the sauce with the calamari was way too spicy and believe me i like spicy. my husband ordered some ground beef over noodles type special which came as stringy pieces of meat, with a very bland, flavorless sauce and i got soft shell crabs which were a complete disappointment. they were very heavily breaded in a beer batter and over fried. you couldnt even taste crab. the menu didnt menttion that they were fried so i was expecting sauteed. they came with another totally bland sauce on the side. we both agreed that a) we would never go back; and b) that the best part of the meal was my daughter's vanilla ice cream which i'm sure came from a box from the supermarket. what a disappointment read more

I just got back from their new location in Arnold (couldn't find it on Yelp) and it was sweet perfection. My son had the Chesapeake Pad Thai and it was covered in crab and sooooo good. I had green curry that as usual was amazing. The sticky rice with perfectly ripe mangos was amazing! Thanks Lenongrass for another great meal with the best servers around. read more

This place is always consistent and has great Thai food! Our favorites are the Pad See Ew and the Ginger Perfect. Make sure to ask for the spice rack on the side if you want to add more heat to your dish. read more

I love Thai food. While the service was good, the food was only adequate. We had papaya salad - the strips were chunked and served on lettuce (what??) - stir fried rice (fine), satay (fine), and curry chicken (fine). The curry came with rice. All and all, if you must have Thai, this may meet your fix. If you want good Thai, try another restaurant. read more

My first time at restaurant last week and picked up takeout...Male cashier who took my order was abrupt and in my opinion not professional...there were two different menus at the register and I asked, as I picked up one menu, whether one was a lunch menu and he looked at me like I was crazy....the female who tended bar and brought me hot tea as I waited for my order was more gracious To top it off the food was NOT that good and I will not return....maybe he preferred to deal with people who "looked like him" if you know what I mean.. read more

We tried take out and dining in - both were great! I heard the pad thai was so amazing - i disagree with that, but there are other dishes that are terrific!!! The crispy string bean appetizer was awesome - I asked for less pepper on it the 2nd time so my mouth wasnt on fire. The dumpling appetizer was fair/average. Love the crispy duck salad and the Pad Thai. Not a big fan of the drunken noodle which is my favorite Thai dish. This place doesn't blow me away but it'll scratch the itch. 3 1/2 stars to be fair. Try the mussels in a clay pot. There's lots I haven't tried here, pretty extensive menu. read more

Nice ambiance and convenient location. Friendly staff. I had the Cashew Chicken and it was extremely salty and in a brown sauce that was too thick and too garlicky. I asked for my son's food to be soy-free but sure enough it came tossed in soy sauce. I guess if you're trying to avoid soy you shouldn't be at an Asian restaurant to begin with. I went there last night for my first time with my boyfriend. He had Thai food before but I haven't. There was a short wait at around 7pm when we got there but it wasn't too bad and I got the chance to look over the menu and decide beforehand. We got lucky with seating and got sat in a corner so it was kind of private for us. I ordered the Pinot Noir, we split the chicken wontons, and for the entrees, I ordered the cashew chicken and my boyfriend got the massaman curry. We both thought the food was delicious. We will definitely be going back. Our bill was around $40 which really wasn't bad at all for a glass of wine, his soft drink, an appetizer, and two entrees. The service was friendly and quick for how busy it was when we first got there. The only thing we noticed though, was the spiciness of food was rated by chili peppers. Some dishes had none, mine had one pepper, and my boyfriend's dish had 3 peppers. I didn't think my dish was spicy at all and my boyfriend's dish was only slightly spicy so for me, it was great since I'm not a fan of really spicy foods but I can see how someone would be disappointed if they like their food spicy. read more

Stopped by here for dinner and we were not disappointed. Lemongrass is very small and does not take reservations (you can call ahead and be put on a preferred list)--in addition, when there is nice weather, there are extra tables outside. We had to wait for about 15 minutes for a table to open up. We started with the crispy string bean appetizer--it was delicious--the sauce was a perfect mix of sweet and spicy and the string beans had a nice, light, crisp. K ordered the beef drunken noodles. The flavors were great; however, it could have used a little more sauce. M ordered the Pad Pao Tag--a mix of seafood in a red chili paste with rice. It was flavored well with a nice portion of seafood. The prices were more than reasonable for the food. We also grabbed some drinks--K had the Thailand tea cocktail while M had some Asian beers--all were good. In addition, the manager gave us a free round of drinks for moving to a different table just after we were seated! Overall, a great experience--we will return. read more

Great food, good service!!! BUT, the bathrooms need extreme cleaning! The stalls are filthy and need to be scrubbed or painted. The floors need a mop and the sinks need cleaning as well. Top to bottom. It always concerns me when the patron bathrooms are unkept, as it makes you question the cleanliness of the kitchen. read more
