I was seated in a comfortable booth by the window, and this enabled me to further enjoy my experience. I've noticed in Maryland Thai iced tea is easily 25% higher than the Philadelphia area, which I am used to. The Thai icedtea that I drank here was enjoyable, and it was reasonably priced compared to other local establishments. My entree and appetizer were very good. Maybe change your online pick up options to reflect when orders can be picked up in accordance to your restaurant timing too so ppls time isn't wasted. My husband and I always do takeout from here. It is a bit on the expensive side for takeout but it is the best sushi I've found in Annapolis thus far. We love to get their AK47 roll, and add mango to it, so it's a sweet-and-spicy sort of flavor with the spicy mayo on top - so yummy and also filling! First two fine, Poke- not so much, the roll was noticably off and fishy- threw it out immediately. Not sure if it was the tuna poke or the seaweed salad inside, Im familiar wiht what it should taste like, this wasnt it, but rather, inedible. (Full disclosure: we were enthusiastic patrons of the former establishment at this location, and we were sad to see them close, because then we would have to go downtown to indulge). We live just down the street and we LOVE our sushi, so it is a big plus to have a good local place. I ordered online and set a time later in the day to pick up my order. Since I exceeded $45, they threw in a free item (edamame). We enjoyed salad, gyoza, Japanese spring rolls, an assortment of maki rolls, and some pieces of nigiri sushi. We tried this place out since they changed from New Matsu. The sushi was great. We tried the super volcano(it was ok) the Godzilla roll was great and so was the Mermaid roll. I also ordered shrimp Yaki Soba it tasted fishy the portions were small for the price and the shrimp was way over cooked, the beef fried rice was ok still pricy for the portion amount. We love this place so much! The food is always delicious and fresh and our order is always correct. We have a big family, so our orders are often quite large and it can be easy for restaurants to miss an item or two, but that has never been our experience with Shika. Today was Mother's Day and they even included a little Fanny Pack with our order with the words "Happy Mother's Day" written on the package. It's these little things that set this place apart. I love the Takoyaki and the Godzilla Roll the most, personally. I love to visit different ramen restaurants around the DC, Maryland, Virginia area. Shika's ramen was AMAZING and the pork is to DIE for - fatty and very flavorful. I had the spicy miso ramen with pork. If you're ordering take out, make sure to pour all the broth in the bowl or mix the broth as most of the salt falls to the bottom. Once it's mixed though, it's no problem blending all flavors in the bowl. What made my experience even better is that the woman who greeted me at the door was very nice and even offered me some cake on the house. We had a great conversation on how they are new to the area. She also clarified that the base of the ramen is tonkotsu and that the spicy miso is the flavoring. Overall a great place to eat ramen and it's one of my new favorites! read more

My husband and I have said for years that Annapolis needed a place just like this, so I was more than excited to jump on Yelp tonight to give Shika a 5-star review! It is a snowy night and we did not feel like cooking. Shika popped up and, despite the glowing reviews, we were skeptics (we've had some bad experiences with Asian cuisine in this area even on highly reviewed places). We wanted to give it a try anyway on the hopes that we would find our next new spot. We were not disappointed!! The service was excellent and the staff were incredibly friendly. Online ordering was a breeze and you can easily customize your order. My husband got the ramen bowl with spicy miso. I got the dragon roll. We also got our usual house salads and edamame. My husband did not talk at all while eating (which is a good sign) and in the end repeatedly commented that it was "fantastic!" I have to say, I tried the broth and would have to wholeheartedly agree. It was awfully delicious and I may have to consider ordering the ramen bowl the next time!! So yummy and perfectly spiced. Even for my spice connoisseur husband. :) My sushi roll was equally delicious and packed beautifully! I finally have found a yummy sushi place in Annapolis!!! Yay!! I have been so utterly disappointed in the sushi quality in this area for years. So happy!! They gave us a complimentary green tea cheesecake slice for dessert. The most flavorless ramen I think I've ever had. There are good veggies and run-of-the-mill ramen noodles. The chicken tastes like it was browned with absolutely nothing added to it. The miso broth was just so bland, and I can't figure out how they pulled that off because miso is packed with flavor. We also ordered sushi and, in fact, it was sushi. I had spicy tuna, which admittedly is pretty basic, and that's how it tasted. For me and my two boys to eat it cost me almost $80. Hi! I had the biggest craving for ramen and thought to grab a bowl on the way home from work today. Got ramen, shumai, and a salmon&avocado sushi hand roll. The salmon was proper quality! Well done on the hand roll! The shumai was tasty. They're small bites, but plenty flavorful. And the ramen...they used a delightful marinated pork belly that made my tongue wanna slap my mouth! I wouldn't do the extra veg again. It was too much bok choi for me, which was tough. (Not their fault!) But the soup was very nice. Some interesting spices floating around in there, and a hint of anise? Complex. Current situation: full, warm, and happy tummy! You only get one picture. The service was great and everything was brought out quickly and I definitely felt the restaurant was comfortable but this was my very first time being here and I have heard only great things about this restaurant but I ordered pork ramen and all the meat was 90% fat. Definitely not something I was expecting. I will even say the soup tasted good but I don't want to eat a ton of fat and no solid meat. It may be possible this was a one time thing but it kinda makes me unsure if I want to try it again as maybe this is the normal and they really should make sure there is some actual meat in your food not just blubber fat. I wanted to say something but I am uncomfortable with the idea of returning food as I have worked in restaurants and some cooks do things to your food even if you have a legitimate complaint.
