I recently had Len the Plumber come out to assess a leak in a pipe connected to our well water pump. The two guys they sent told me they would run some diagnostics then give me some options. I also mentioned we were having issues with our hot water staying hot for more than 5 minutes, so I asked them to take a look at our hot water heater too. That is literally all they did... They looked at it. They didn't attempt to assess what was wrong with it. We sat down to talk cost and even though we called them out for a leaky pipe they told my husband and I we needed to replace our well cap, our water pump and tank, and our water heater. They said it would cost $6000. Why does our tank need to be replaced when it's 4 years old and works fine? Why does our water heater need to be replaced when it's 6 years old and only needs a new heating element? Why does our pump need to be replaced when it works fine? When we asked what it would cost to just fix the issue we called about, they quoted us $1200. (!!!) I told them we couldn't afford that, so they instantly dropped the quote to $750. I told them that seemed awfully high to fix a leaky pipe and they assured us no other plumber would give us a lower quote. We decided to take our chances and not to go with Len because the quotes seemed really high to us. That night we called in a favor to a friend who ended up fixing the leaky pipe in 45 minutes using $106 in parts from Home Depot. That's a difference of about $1100 from Len's quote which means they were charging $1100 in labor for 45 minutes of work. Insane! As for the water heater they suggested we replace, we had another company come out and charge us $195 (labor and parts) to replace it's broken heating element. They even showed us how to replace the element ourselves if it ever breaks again. Len doesn't seem interested in service. They unfortunately seem interested in sales and overcharging the customer. read more

I think my mom, who is on a fixed income, got robbed today by Len the Plumber. Over $7300 to cut a hole in her ceiling and fix a broken pipe. I am sick over this, and she is too. Do yourself a favor and find another plumber. read more

Worst experience. Overcharged for more than $770 and fixed nothing! Damaged the sewer pump and did not realize it. Wanted me to agree on ripping my main sewer line in the yard for couple thousand dollars while it was not the problem. RUN!!!!! read more

Had a boiler pipe leak in January, no heat since we had to turn water off. Len wanted to charge me 700.00 to repair pipe. Called their manager and they said the mechanic negotiates prices. We had him install a couple of other valves before we would pay new price of 550.00. RUN FAR DO NOT CALL THEM. Horizon is better. read more

Had problem with bathroom sink draining into the tub. Toilet flushed fine. The tech informed me there was a $500 charge to use the big snake for main drain and would have to remove the toilet to use the big snake. Toilet removal / replacement was $250. He snaked the main drain, it was open. Then used a smaller snake and it clearedto the blockage between the sink and tub. He should have started there and there was no reason to snake the main drain but he did so they could get maximum billing. Even I knew the problem was not in the main. Had he snaked the obvious drain first it would have saved me hundreds of dollars and he would have been out the door in 30 mins. I am writing to the company and asking for a partial refund. An experienced plumber would have know to snake the small drain first. Cost me $650. read more

in 2017 Len the Plumber came out to fix a few things and they convinced me to replace my water pressure valve, charged me $400. Just the other day, I called them because I kept hearing a humming sound and guess what? It was my water pressure valve of only one year that was causing the issue! So they replace that and than charged me $500!! After calling and talking to the manager, they were willing to refund me $50 since I was a repeat customer. Water pressure valves should only be replaced 3 to 5 years if that. They really should last over 10+ years. I am so disappointed that they would not stand by their work. I was informed that both the part and service only had a one year warranty...even if they screwed up the installation! So so disappointed!! Do NOT use Len the Plumber, otherwise you may end up paying for the service........ twice!! read more

Original appointment window was Saturday from 12 noon to 4pm. At 3:30pm got a call saying they cannot make it but would come the next day at 2pm. Specifically asked if it's a window or an actual appointment at 2pm. Been assured that it is 2pm. The following day called the dispatch to confirm; they said it was a window from 2-5pm and said they should have never promised the tech would be there at 2pm. At 1:30pm got a call they will be there in 45 minutes; it was over 1.5 hrs when he showed up; not having been given the proper address nor the cell# to call in order to be let into the apartment building. The technician wanted $252 to diagnose the issue while we were told there is a $49 fee. Turns out that's the fee to drive to the location, but to tell us what the problem is will cost another $252 which we were not notified. It started to look like a rip off when the technician started quoting $$6-7K then started coming down to $5K, then down to $4K+ Didn't get a good feeling. Had to pay the $49 for coming out and said 'no thank you'. read more

My issue is not with the technician or the service he performed. He did the work as promised. My issue is that they are EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE and customer service on the back end sucks!! My sump pump stopped working on the day of hurricane Isaias. My basement had about 2 inches of water and they were the only plumbers available since my usual plumber was swamped. Their price was much higher than anyone else, but I had no choice. After the work was done, I was told there was a warranty and that I would get a receipt via email. Well, it has been 4 days and still no receipt. I have called several times to inquire about it and the 3 year warranty sump pump info. Although I was promised a return call to resolve the matter, still nothing. I am sure that during these unusual times most are working remotely, however I would have thought that I would have at least gotten a call back to rectify the issue and to make sure I am a satisfied customer. Well, needless to say, I am not! I must continue to call since I need my receipt and my warranty info. In this case I didn't get everything I paid for and due to this experience, I will NOT be using them again, nor will I recommend them. read more

Please save yourself the headache. The faucet in our tub broke which seems like a small problem. However, I am not handy and needed it done quick so I googled same day service and found this company. My appointment was scheduled for Sat (the next day between 8-12). I was so happy. I got a call at 10 the day of my appointment to let me know that something came up and my appointment was moved to Sun- but was assured I would be first on the list. After many excuse filled calls, they showed up at 5 pm. The guy was done for the day and clearly did not want to get into fixing our problem. He made an excuse that the faucet we bought was not good quality and told us to return it and he would be back the next day- yes, Monday- to fix it. I will save you all the details, but it took hours to fix and two return visits to get it right. One of the guys also kept taking his mask off in my house. For all of that, I got a gigantic bill- and probably could have paid half if I just hired a plumber and scheduled for Monday. I actually cringe when I see their trucks. Lesson learned. read more

AWFUL. All "we are there for you" in the beginning. Don't get fooled. EXPENSIVE and they and their subcontractors did a very poor job. Inadequate cleanup of sewerage waste, damaged electrical wiring requiring costly repair and refused to cover it. They had our money. They do not stand by their work. Run run run, plenty of options out there of competent, honorable vendors. We will never use them again and have hundreds of friends who we will tell won't either. read more

We needed a sewer line replaced (a very big job) and George and his crew were unbelievably wonderful!!! They were so kind and professional. The work they did was excellent. The pilot on our hot water heater went out and we had difficulty trying to light it. We called Len the Plumber to investigate what the problem might be. The technician spewed out a lot of technical terms and refused to attempt to light the pilot. He went out to his truck and came back with 3 estimates. Two estimates were to replace the unit with $4000 and $3000 and the third to replace vent on the unit and attempt to light the pilot for $1100. I explained that we had recently had a house inspection conducted by an organization that upgrades the homes of senior citizens (HUB). The program insulated the unit and sealed around the vent so I doubted the vent needed to be replaced. We declined all 3 offers and he said, "How will you be paying today/" We paid the $40 service fee as promised. I called the company to complain about the experience and was promised a response from the supervisor. No one ever called. Hopefully this was an isolated experience. Rude aloof technician and poor service. The 1 star is because they came to the house using COVID protocol, everything else was poor. read more

these guys are absolutely terrible! don't use them, you will get ripped off. I called to replace my sump pump. a gentlemen showed up at 9:30am. Look a look which took him 10mins. left until noon which he claimed to beed an extra pair of hands. quoted me 2K. Once they pulled the pump out, told me I needed a bigger pump and jacked up the price to now 3500. Seriously! Came back and told me they got me a backup at no cost. Seems like no one had an idea of what they were doing and just came up with random numbers. How is a bit larger pump, same labor costing me an additional 1600. Came within an hour and a half & fixed the toilet in :15 minutes with a $20.00 part. Then charged $275.00. It cost $50.00 to come out then they hit you with an outrageous price. I gave a star cuz I had to. First day they were due out they called 15 mins before appt said they could not make it. Ok stuff happens. Said they would be out in morning about 8 all is good. The guy walks down stairs shines a light on my problem said I can't help you. WTF ? Does not even go over and check anything out. Said because it's at the metor in our house that we have to call town. My husband said no inside is our problem. But my husband calls town anyway (even tho he knew better) town come out said no its inside your problem. Don't know about this repair man but he obviously don't know his job and he was rude. I will NEVER call these people again. So my husband gets off work goes gets the part and has it fixed in 10 mins. He just did not want to do it that's why we called a plumber but I guess in hind sight he done us a favor cuz he fixed it for about 55.00. read more

I would not recommend Len the Plumber for this reason. A Len the Plumber driver backed into my daughter's car last week and it caused $800 damage to her bumper. The police were called, an estimate was obtained, we opened a claim with Len the Plumber's auto insurer and provided all of this info to Len's claims rep. Unfortunately, the Len the Plumber driver won't return the insurer's call to provide a statement. The insurance company has made numerous attempts to find a live person. From Len the Plumber to speak with. They keep getting bounced around from one office to the next. We were also informed by Len the Plumber's insurer that there are two other open claims in their office that are awaiting call backs from your office. I would be very careful doing business with a company who behaves like this. My daughter's car cannot be repaired until Len the Plumber contacts their insurer to provide a statement. read more

We had to have a plumber and were recommended LEN. No issues with their work or cost of the job. We called and they came out in the time frame given. However, we asked if they wear appropriate PPE during pandemic and were told yes. When the tech arrived he was wearing only the least effective method of a bandana. This should not be allowed especially going into elderly people's homes and possibly spreading the virus unknowingly. Need to vamp up precautionary measures moving forward and requiring appropriate PPE of your employees in during this pandemic. Not fair to customers. read more

I waited nearly 3 months to post this to allow Len the Plumber to respond to this same review privately before going public. No response from Len so here it goes. On a night back in December 2017 my hot water heater finally sprung a leak the same night I came home from surgery. I had already bought and partially installed a new hot water heater in a better location in the laundry room, only needed someone to connect the hot and cold and gas. In a pinch, I called Len the Plumber thinking I want a pro. They scheduled for the next afternoon but later called to reschedule the next day after. Fine. The hot water heater is shut off and drained, no big deal, got showers at grandmoms house. A guy from Len came out that morning. Let me say first off, I was somewhat satisfied with the plumber sent by Len, guy's name was Mark. Mark had a positive work attitude even when the job became difficult. However, I have a BIG problem with the quoting process and the request for a considerable amount of additional money above the quoted price at the completion of the job. Let me explain the day. It was apparent to me that the technician on site needed some assistance at times and I volunteered to help ... after all it's my house and my family needs hot water. However, I probably should not have been working because I was 40 hours post-op of surgery and I paid the price for that the next morning. I even went to Lowes to buy parts he didn't have on the truck. I thought they stocked everything they needed on the truck according to their site. I also picked up a Wawa hoagie for the guy. The BIGGEST issue I have was that I was asked to pay an addition $450 over the quoted price of $1040 at the completion of the job, a 45% increase in the quoted price! The reason? The bossman on the phone with the plumber in my house said it took 2 hours longer than expected. Two hours. An additional $450. NO additional work was done beyond the work quoted. NO extra parts. I had all the parts and I drove out to Lowes and paid for what he didn't have in stock on the truck. I refused to pay an additional 45% for multiple reasons. Number one, I was not quoted nor did I agree to $1490. I agreed to $1040. Two, time spent on the job was never a factor in the quote. Underestimating how long it will take is not my problem unless I agree to that up front. There was no additional work done beyond what was quoted. I signed a legal document agreeing to the quoted price. The negotiation to try to get some amount of additional money out of my pocket left me with the feeling that I am being taken advantage of. The plumber guy in my house was talking to his boss on the phone and relaying the request for more money from me laying on a guilt trip that it is going to come out of his pocket. Really? No way Mark. No way Len. What kind of operation is this? No wonder they can afford expensive trucks. This sounds like some sort of scam tactic. How many people has this tactic worked on? While I appreciate a job well done by a professional plumber, I don't appreciate a 45% surprise at the completion of the job. The initial quote that I agreed to did not specify any kind of time constraints on the job, just a cost that I agreed to. The quote was for labor only. Time totaled 6 hours of work. That's $173 / hr. at the originally quoted cost. That's VERY expensive for a plumber. The attempt to get more money out of me after completing the job calculates out to $248 an hour! That's INSANELY expensive for any profession, except maybe a good lawyer. If you factor out that request for more money, the overall experience was positive. The mildly challenging job was completed quickly, professionally and the quality workmanship was decent. I would have left a good review. I had hot water the next morning. I give the technician higher marks for his work. However, the attempt to jack the cost up by 45% undermines my trust in your company Len. I could easily see this tactic working with less knowledgeable customers. If you like surprises, then, by all means, give them a call. read more

I called this company to have someone come out and check my hot water heater because my faucets and showers were running cold. They sent 2 men out who were here for a total of 10 minutes. The issue turned out to be that the outlet the unit was plugged into had been tripped from a storm and needed to be reset. One of the men reset the outlet and the other checked to see that the hot water was working on the bathroom faucet. No work had to be completed. They charged $272. When I called the company that same day to inquire what the charges were for, I left a message and waited 4 days for a call back. On the 4th day, I called again and left another message before my call was finally returned. After explaining everything, they did refund some of the cost but I still ended up paying way too much. While I agree that I should pay something, it should've been the $49 charge that was explained when I booked the appointment for having them come to the residence. I will never use this company again and I suggest finding another plumber who isn't overcharging customers for no work. read more

Our 91 year old aunt called Len the Plumber for a very simple fix. The flushing handle broke inside her toilet. It's a $5 part. The plumber tried to talk her into over $600 worth of work that was not necessary! Fortunately her neighbor came over to check on things and stopped the transaction. She paid the $49 service fee and her neighbor fixed it. Totally despicable way to do business, especially taking advantage of an elderly woman on a fixed income. Shame on you Len the Plumber!! If I could give Len the Plumber 0 stars, I would. We live about 45 minutes outside of Philadelphia, PA - still within the Len the Plumber limits. Recently, we purchased a home and need a plumber to repair a few things prior to our borough allowing us to move in. On Thursday, August 13, 2020, we scheduled someone from Len the Plumber to come to our house the following day, Friday, August 14, 2020, between the hours of 12:00pm - 4:00pm. Around 1:45pm, we received a phone call explaining to us the plumber had gotten held up and was no longer able to make it to our home that day; they'd be there the next day. The following day, Saturday, we received yet another phone call telling us the plumber was once again unable to service our home; they guaranteed service Sunday, August 16, 2020, as they would be in the area. It is now Sunday, August 16th, and once again, we received a phone call stating the plumber is unable to make it to our home. This is the most unorganized company I have ever dealt with. Customers make appointments for these services, so they are able to get things repaired in a timely manner. Len the Plumber advertises "Same Day Service," yet, we were unable to have a scheduled, next day service done. This is absolutely unacceptable. read more

Called to get an expansion tank placed on hot water heater. Cost $850. Outrageous price but I paid it. After tech left realized I had no hot water. Arranged for them to come look at it and and hour before my 12-4 window for them to arrive was to expire , they cancelled and said said unable to get a technician out there. Wasted my whole day waiting for them. Ok fine..I rescheduled for another day but that AM decided to search you tube for cause of no hot water. YOU TUBE said to check the circuit breaker. Lo and behold it wasn't tuned back on! Ok honest mistake but they made no REAL effort to compensate me for my dissatisfaction. I asked for a discount on services received and they flat out told me no and would give Me a credit towards future services. That's not what Im asking for.I heated up water in the microwave to "shower" for 5 days! No need for a future credit as I will not be returning. A $40 expansion tank turned into a $850 bill and they couldn't return $100 iit to satisfy their customer? Not good customer service. *update to review. I was contacted by management and pleased to announce they are honoring my request for a discount on services received. Working with Len the Plumber was a headache from the start. Once I finally got to talk with someone, they set up an appointment for 8am-11am the next day. I waited until after 11am, and no one showed up. No communication that there would be a delay. I called multiple times to find out when someone was coming and could not get through on their lines, and was passed on to an external call service. I called back, and the call service said I would finally get a call shortly. When I did get a call, the representative said that they were going to have to cancel my appointment for today. Went out and checked something we didn't even ask for. Worst communication. Charged us $100 over quoted price to just go out to the property to look at it. They stole $200 from us because now all we can get is the people that dispatch messages. Cannot even get the plumber on the phone. All plumber said was that radiator pipes ( that are not running bc it's not cold out) aren't leaking. Thanks SOOOO much there isn't water in them genuis!!! Don't Call Len the Plumber! I called Len last night after my water retention tank (the small bomb shaped device that sits above your water heater) exploded. They couldn't come last night (I really understand that, it was 8:00), but one of their competitors did. After getting a price on a new tank from the competitor, I called Len the Plumber again this AM to give them a second chance, and asked for a quote to replace my existing water heater (gave them the model number, capacity, etc). I was told they would need to send somebody out to assess the existing tank (and charge me $49), and when I told them I knew it needed to be replaced, I was told they couldn't give me a price. Really? How about a range? No. I will not be doing any business with Len the Plumber. Don't call Len the Plumber...you won't get an answer. read more

Saw their ad for no extra fees for emergency service 24/7-They arrived on Saturday morning and charged me $500 COD for clearing the main sewer line- More than twice what I have paid before- Outrageous pricing and they knew we were desperate so had to pay it. RUN!!!! My toilet was leaking clean water and my tub was clogged. I called Len the plumber, they came out said it was a main drain issue and that they would clear it out for $872. I signed and paid upfront (BIG MISTAKE BUT IT WAS LEN THE PLUMBER!!) because I had to go back to work. I left my friend there with the plumber. I signed and paid upfront. The service apparently came with a camera inspection of the pipe so the camera guy came after the plumber said he found roots in my main line (LIES!!). My friend said the camera didn't show any roots but they left an invoice for $6000 to dig up my main line and replace the pipe. The plumber said the shower and toilet were working when he left, my friend didn't check. I came home to a huge mess in my freshly painted bathroom, even my shower curtain had splashes of brown on it. It looked like a child had an art class in there. I cleaned it up and went to pour some of the mop water in my shower and discovered that my shower was still clogged. Then I noticed that my toilet was still leaking clean water! They took my $872 and didn't fix anything! Imagine my surprise when I looked up the issues I was having and NOWHERE did it say it had anything to do with my main drain!! They still have not called me back to resolve this issue!! read more

Very disappointed. The service call was instead treated as a sales call. The plumber spent very little time diagnosing the issue, and instead spent more time generating a quote for a new tank. My tank was still under warranty, so I got a second opinion, and they immediately identified a defect in the tank and had it replaced same-day. No need for a new system for which Len wanted to charge me $4,700. Mistakes happen. People get it wrong. I get it. But when I tried to speak with LtP about this, they simply ignored me (as other reviews have mentioned as well.) It's unfortunate not to care about your customers in a service business. There are plenty of reputable plumbers out there. This isn't one of them. Save yourself a big headache and $$ and use a different service. read more

I called Len The Plumber because we lost water to our house. We run on a well system. They came out and the technicians were very nice but they installed a new well pump for me and charged me $3,900 dollars for the job. After they were finished I STILL do not have water. They charged me full price and left without my problem being fixed. I found out from a well expert in my area that the cost of the job should have really only been around $2,000. So not only did Len The Plumber over charge me for the job done by about $2,000 but they left me here without actually fixing my issue. This is extremely unethical and just flat out wrong to do to people. Terrible experience, I'm out 4K and still have no water. I've tried calling them back to speaker with a manager about a refund and they have yet to get back to me. Would not recommend this company, they will over charge you for the job and do not care about the customer. Update to above review: I spoke with a service manager at Len The Plumber named Tom Romanowski who helped to rectify the situation. He was able to help me get a refund for some of the job and is trying to work on getting me a full refund because our water levels in the well are too low for the newly installed pump to reach. I am hopeful that the original offer for a full refund under the context of the company coming out and taking back the installed equipment still stands but nonetheless Tom was helpful to my wife and I during this stressful situation. Will update again once I get a final answer from the company. read more
