My wife called Len the Plumber for them to come out and clear a back up to our toilet. They came out and charged for the $494.70 for the first 90 minutes and then an additional $143.65 for an additional 30 minutes. No problem. Then they charged an additional $641.75 for "difficult access level 2", which means they had to go through our basement toilet which they took out to conduct the main cleanout. I thought that was expensive, but still not my issue. My issues is that they then charged and additional $436 to put the toilet back on. I don't see how that's not included in the "difficult access level 2" charge. My wife didn't know any better so she just paid it. They also talked her into an additional service agreement, which if you read the fine print automatically renews if you don't cancel in writing before the end of the first year. When I called to talked to someone about what I saw as an overcharge, I got a secretary at a call center and they said someone would get back to me within 24hours. No one did. I called the next week and they said some one would call back. Still no return call. I have since called two more times and still no return call. Our 11 month old water heater Len installed caught fire 4 hours after a Len the Plumber Tech came out and worked on it. We paid a monthly subscription for a year and this was the first time we called after they installed. Our 2 children were asleep upstairs and luckily we got to the fire in time to shut off the gas. I had an appointment for a shower hot water knob that wouldn't work. The technician arrived on time, was courteous, and showed me what the issue was. I paid almost $400 for a simple $6 part (at Home Depot). How do I know it was a $6 part? I know because my shower started leaking within the same week as his "repair." I could not afford another $400 visit, so I removed and replaced the $6 parts myself. I noticed the part I removed was worn out and the same part the technician removed and showed to me. He had not replaced it with a new part, just took it out and put it back in. When I reached out to customer service providing images of the old part and complaining about the cost of no work being done. I was offered an $80 credit on my next bill (which will never happen after this.) This was later changed to an $80 refund. I do not recommend due to inflated prices and duplicitous practices. read more

Len the Plumber used seriously high pressure sales tactics on my 90 year old mother in law. Initially saying her shower leak would cost $3400 to repair, but she could save $800 if she signed today.. And it would get worse if she didn't fix it. Then they charged her credit card "for parts". Didn't tell her how much they were charging, didn't leave an estimate or receipt.. They charged her card $1400. I had to call and get them to send me the estimate and asked to talk to someone prior to doing the work. They didn't call me back and the quote doesn't include a phone number and it's from a no reply email. These people are horrible taking advantage of the elderly and not providing any way to communicate with them. My sister in law is drafting a letter to the PA attorney general. RUN and don't let your loved ones answer a TV ad. The next contractor replaced the bad part for $425. I can't believe that this company would try to charge $2800 for a $425 job. Ugly. read more

After telling a friend what I paid for a well pump replacement and seeing his reaction, then actually researching what it should have cost.. my heads exploding. kitchen sink clogged. yesterday a plumber came out, could not resolve my issue but was going to charge me over $500. He was nice enough to come down to around $350. He left a total mess, and there were more issues after he left then before he came. So today he sent someone else out to resolve my issue. This guy was rude from the start, complaining that he was late because he could not find out house. He had no confidence in his ability to fix our issue. I asked him if the process was going to be messy and he said, "I'm not Merrymaids..." I understand that he cannot promise me that there would not be a mess, but he could have said that he would have helped clean up afterward. I told him that I could not use him. So I paid over $300 for NOTHING but a big mess and a bigger issue. I would NOT recommend these guys. SINCE THIS INCIDENT, Mark the manager called me and listened to what I had to say. He turned a bad incident into a pleasant one. He didn't make any excuses and apologized and did things to get it right. Mike, the plumber that was sent initially showed great integrity and professionalism. He didn't feel right about how the second plumber handled things. He also went out of his way to get things right. Mark and Mike showed great understanding, empathy and integrity. Much respect for these guys!
