Excellent find, and talk about bang for your buck! Portions were beyond ample and every dish was made to perfection. Fish was perfectly crispy without being oily and slit cubes for easy consumptions. Paired with two sides which we chose the chaufa and yuca fries. The fish was tender flavorful and just delightful! Rice was really flavorful as well and fries cooked perfectly We got the 1/4 chicken because how do you not get the chicken? And it really did not disappoint you could taste the Smokey flavor and the white meat was just as tender as the dark. Plantains we're YUM and veggies were a good addition. Noodle with steak dish was equally delightful. Each bite of steak was beyond tender and the noodles were stir fried with yummy veggies for extra flavor. Would absolutely come back and thanks for the dinner and next say lunch :)

Took my family to dinner and we loved the food here! Everything was delicious with a little exception of the chaufa. The seafood chaufa was a little bland, it was almost as if the seafood was boiled and thrown into the rice. Not much flavor. Other than that all the other dishes were amazing! We will definitely be visiting again.

I've never had Peruvian food before, but this place definitely opened my eyes to the cuisine. This place is great for take out, however if you want to eat in the dining area is very nice. The selection of meat and seafoods will satisfy anyone. Definitely get something with the Hauncaina sauce - you won't regret it!

My parentals and I wanted to find a new spot to dine in for lunch. So we chose this Peruvian restaurant. I loved the ambiance of the restaurant. It was bright and inviting. I had the steak risotto and my parents had the paella and half chicken. My only complaint about the risotto was that it was tight. It wasn't loose like a typical risotto and wasn't made with Arborio rice. However, the flavors were delicious and my parents enjoyed their food as well. The service was excellent. There wasn't a long wait for food. We were the only ones dining in during lunch time on a Friday, but I could see to-go orders going out. I would come back again.

There's so many great restaurants on the street if you look to quickly you might miss it, but believe me you'll want to go inside. The food here is so authentic and amazingly fresh, I ordered a half a chicken with a salad and yucca fries, wow! The chicken was so tender and succulent and the yucca was fried perfectly! They also bring you an array of sauces for the food, various spice so be warned! I also wanted to try the chaufa so I ordered the one with steak and oh my gosh not only was the presentation amazing but every bite was more delicious than the last, I will be back to try the rest of the menu.

Food was good-- I did really like the presentation. Service was okay. I had the Pescado A Lo Macho which was good but I felt like it could have used more flavor. It was nice to receive the tres léches dessert, which was delicious!

This was my first time trying Peruvian food. Let's start with the muscles. Those muscles had the best pico I've ever had. If you're sensitive to spiciness, don't get the muscles spicy. They were very hot (to me, not to those comfortable with spicyness) but they were so good I couldn't stop eating them !! The menu was so large I may not have everything labeled correctly. I would recommend if you want to try these items you show your server, like I did. I had fish that came with shrimp, calamari, egg, and a sauce. The sauce was creamy and that fish alone was so fresh and flavorful! You can get the fish with or without the head. The steak had a nice texture but could've had more flavor. The fries as well were very bland and could've used salt and pepper. I can't remember what kind of beverages I had but they were both sweet juices, I think one was guava. They were both so good. The muscles were the best thing I had here. Overall I was satisfied and I'd go back to try something else. My server was very nice and patient with explaining the menu as I had a lot of questions due to my unfamiliarity. You will find something for you here. Theres a parking garage next to the place and the prices are pretty reasonable for the portion size. Very impressed.

Finally visited the restaurant in person. Is very cute, cozy, intimate & brightly lit. It's BYOB, which I always love. Service was great and the food was amazing! We had the mixed cerviche, green pasta with shrimp & skirt steak with rice and tostones. I'm sure we will be back!

This place is so cute and nicely decorated and the staff was welcoming. They started us off with the Peruvian corn and plantain chips, we finished that little bowl pretty quickly, it was a nice salty start to our meal. I ordered the chaufa with steak and my friend had the green spaghetti with steak and we both got the passion fruit drink. Let me start off by saying the drink is absolutely delicious and really refreshing, I could have drank three of those. My steak was perfectly cooked and super tender and the rice was a nice addition. My friend said she enjoyed her dish too. I also asked for a side of the green sauce which, if you know... YOU KNOW Peruvian green sauce is everything and THIS was so good! Just spicy enough and delicious. Our server was nice and helpful(and good looking), I think he was an owner. I even ordered extra food for dinner, I got the quarter chicken with white rice and sweet plantains, it looks amazing I'm sure it's going to taste just as good.

    Randy R.

I'll keep this short and sweet... Decided to come to this place on a whim and didn't realize it was closing soon (oops)! However, let me just say that this food SLAPS! The chicken was juicy and tender, the "green sauce" that was suggested to me was a delightful treat (I just wish it were spicier), and the chaufa was wonderfully delicious! I cannot comment on the ceviche but wifey gobbled it up and said her taste buds were dancing. Yum!

This place is really outstanding Peruvian food. The decor is great and the service is great. One of the best food spots in the area. We got invite to a Yelp event and we cannot complain. I will definitely comeback to this place. Love the food, love ambient.

The food was so authentic and so delicious. Presentation was awesome as well. Cute little casual spot perfect for date night. Street parking nearby too. Also, fun fact, the name is pronounced KENKO and it's actually an archeological site in Peru.

We got the pan con chicharrón and I truly almost cried! I have not had one as delicious as this one in Jersey! The pork was tender, yet nicely fried, and there was not as much fat on it which is always hard as the fat gives it the flavor but too much can be overpowering. After talking to the chef, he mentioned that it is no longer on the menu because people didn't really order it ... so here I am, asking you all to go in and order it, so it can hopefully go back on the menu and everyone can try authentic and delicious Peruvian breakfast!! It did look like that they were struggling a bit with tables staying longer than they expected which caused a few reservations to be backed up while we were the walkins. I do recommend getting reservations here. I/we ordered a ramen, the cola wings, and the detroit style pizza. They were nice enough to separate the single serving of ramen into two bowls which was really nice of them. The Ramen was good but a bit salty. The cola wings were alright I wouldn't say they were the best I ever had. As for the pizza it was good, however when comparing with similar offerings in the area, Buckys in Chatam, NJ is superior for Detroit style. While, the this particular place did not meet MY standards I would still recommend as a nice date spot!

A modest restaurant, that seems to be run by family/close friends, which turned out to be some of the best peruvian food ive had in New Jersey so far. I really was craving ceviche and peruvian fried rice when I stumbled on this local store on Yelp. I did have difficulty placing an order at first, but once the man realized i speak some spanish and wanted to order food, he seemed to try to apologize and took my order. When i came in for pickup i was greeted by two workers who did indeed only speak Spanish. I think they forgot to cook my order because when i asked them about my pickup, the man was startled and asked me to wait an addition 10 minutes. After waiting, i received my order and paid (cash only). As a side note, they do have two small tables set outside for those who want to dine in. Despite the issues I had with getting my food, i have to say I am very impressed with the amount and quality of food. It really took me back to food in Peru and I was so happy to have found a good local shop. We asked for the spicy ceviche mixto and arroz chaufa mixto as well. The ceviche had a very good kick and was the best Ive had in NJ. Arroz chaufa was served in a large tray and was an unbelievable portion size. It looked and tasted very home-made and definitely could serve at least 2-3 people. For the price, taste, and quality of food, i dont think you could find better in NJ. It definitely adds fierce competition to larger peruvian restaurants. I know I had difficulty ordering but I do appreciate the hustle of a family serving its community. If you speak spanish or are willing to pick up google translate Id definitely recommend coming here. Will be back!

The calamari was decent, but next time I'd ask for it extra crispy. The sauce on the side was delicious: sweet, savory, and had a little kick without being spicy. & now the ribeye? Absolutely marvelous. The Latin fried rice was chef's kiss, with veggies, shrimp, and a fried egg on top! so good. The tostones and maduros were cooked to perfection. The restaurant is small, seating only about 25-30 people, creating an intimate atmosphere. However, the lighting is so dim that I had to take a second look just to read the menu. I'll start with the positive: our waiter was wonderful--friendly, attentive, and genuinely kind. My only criticism was that he couldn't really recommend a standout dish when we asked what the restaurant was known for. For appetizers, I ordered the octopus. Unfortunately, it was inconsistent. Half was perfectly tender, while the other half was so tough it was difficult to chew. It was served over an ajillo sauce that was good, but not enough to save the dish. My husband ordered empanadas. The steak filling was much better than the chicken. He asked if he could order one steak, one shrimp, and one chicken, but was told they don't allow mixing flavors. For my entrée, I ordered the ribeye with white rice and beans and added a lobster tail with butter sauce. The ribeye itself was cooked well, but the sides were disappointing. The beans had a strange flavor, and the rice was mushy and completely lacked seasoning. The lobster tail was fine, but nothing special. The ribeye was $58, and adding the lobster tail brought the plate to $72. At that price point, I expected an exceptional meal, not one where the sides were the weakest part of the plate. My husband ordered the skirt steak with peppers, French fries, and maduros. His steak was good, but we both agreed the side options felt like an odd combination. The menu could definitely use some more thoughtful pairings. We boxed up our leftovers, but unfortunately the food didn't even reheat well the next day. Our bill came to $233 for two people. On top of that, gratuity was automatically added, and there was a $10 fee for paying with a debit card. That was an unpleasant surprise and made an already expensive meal feel even more overpriced. For over $200, I expect to leave saying, "I can't wait to come back." Instead, I left feeling like I had paid Manhattan prices for a very average meal. Unfortunately, this wasn't the experience we were hoping for, and I don't think we'll be back. FYI: everything says M/P on it for Market Price. Which means they can charge you what they see fit which gives me an inconsistent vibe.
