A young dark-haired female employee walked me back to a treatment room. However, the room had no windows, there were no lights on; and, it was a dark room. I hesitated with caution; and, did not go in to the dark for fear of falling or tripping, and sustaining an injury. Then, Patrick Lennartz, the provider, appeared and asked me to go into the room. I said, 'I'm sorry there are no lights on and it's dark.' So, he went in and put on the lights; and then, I went in. He told me to sit on the gurney. I complied. Lennartz then pulled up a chair right in front of me with his legs spread wide apart; his knees were blocking me in. He held papers in his hand, just about in my face. I felt trapped, was grossed out; and, felt fearful. He was physically overpowering! I am petite. I felt close to hyperventilating. I did not have to reach far and put my finger at the top of the papers only to share an inaccuracy. I only wished to explain that the script was incomplete. Lennartz then got hysterical and accused me of grabbing the papers away from him. I did not grab the papers away from him. I just wished to point out an error on the script. I had no reason to "grab" the papers as copies of the papers had been supplied to me and were in my purse. I was stunned. I then got up from the gurney, walked out of the room and walked out of the office physically shaking. Why did Lennartz sit so close in front of me with his legs wide apart blocking me? It was alarming, uncomfortable, rude, and frightening. Why did Lennartz falsely accuse me with such hostility? What could be next? How did he expect to treat me after his false accusation? Was he on drugs? He seemed impaired. "Bedside manner" is the way a healthcare professional interacts with patients. It encompasses verbal and nonverbal communication, empathy, listening skills, and overall demeanor. If you're looking for a PHENOMENAL physical therapist, you're in the right place! This is coming from someone who has had physical therapy treatment for over 20 years, most of which was ineffective and a waste of time and money. Some even made me worse than when I first went to them! Most recently in August I had major surgery; double lumbar fusion and a double cervical disc replacement. So I really needed to find a good therapist. I first tried a place I had frequented previously and unfortunately they were making me feel even worse post surgery so it was a godsend that I found and switched to Lennartz & Scherr! This review is for both PATRICK (Lennartz) and JOEL (Scherr). When I began going to Lennartz & Scherr, I first had Joel as my therapist, who is incredible! In less than three weeks he made me have less pain than any kind of physical therapy I had prior to this. He is the most wholesome person you will ever meet and truly cares about his patients. And speaking of wholesome and great, Patrick is equally incredible! I recently switched to having him as my main Physical Therapist and he is simply amazing! Joel is his mentor so I feel very safe and confident under his care. Patrick is very talented and truly knows what he's doing, and just like Joel, he really cares about his patients. They recently moved into beautiful new offices conveniently located in the heart of Beverly Hills. The 2 hour Free Parking structure is located off of Beverly or Canon. And you just pop in the elevator and go straight to the 2nd floor where they are located. A big shout out to the wonderful staff of Bobby, Damaris, Worthy and Alexis. They're just as helpful, personable and always have a smile on their faces. My only regret is that I wish I had discovered them over 15 years ago. If I had, they may have actually prevented me from needing back surgery, because of how good they are! I got to spend about 10 minutes with the physical therapist and that seemed to be mostly talking. 15 minutes of electric stimulation - no medical efficacy proven- 10 minutes of ice, 10 minutes of exercise. My last visit I got left in the treatment room and was given no where to go, not one helped me . The floor was empty so after about five minutes I left, after 1/2 hour of any sort of treatment. No one seemed to notice or followed up with me. read more

I got into a 3 way car accident earlier this year in my smart car (of course I was the car in the middle - ouch). I was all out of sorts for a while and eventually lucked into Joel's office where the bad luck finally came to an end. Though it wasn't a fast process (to my work's dismay), it took seconds of being treated here that I was in more then capable hands. Joel is a fantastic doctor who explains everything, doesn't mind questions, is very easy to communicate with and truly cares about his patients. This is also reflected on his entire staff from the assistants to the receptionists, all of whom personalize your experience, are always willing to help, and make you feel welcome during every appointment. Snapped a Quad muscle playing tennis and needed to strengthen my leg! Doctors would not operate, and repair. Orthopedic Dr told me I had 3 more muscles left in my quad, so I had no choice but to rehab. Joel was great and he is very encouraging. His assistant Bobby is a great wing-man too. The positive attitude that prevails there is super helpful! (great bedside manners) My wife is currently going to Joel's clinic for rehab of her shoulder and she too raves about how effective the therapy is at Joel's clinic. This review is not about the physical therapist, but of their awful billing department. At first I thought they were just incompetent, but now I feel they might be predatory. I've been a patient at one of their branches for years now and am happy with my treatment. I always paid my co-pay ($30) every time I went into the office and everything was fine. One day, I get a random extra bill in the mail from their billing department for $55. So I checked in with the office the next time I went in for treatment. They told me it was a mistake and cleared me. Said I could ignore the bill. But ever since then, the billing department hasn't stopped sending me the same bill every month, even though I've been cleared of it EVERY TIME I GO IN FOR TREATMENT. This has been going on for almost a year now. I've talked to the billing department numerous times, they've called to harass me while I was at work, and have threatened to send this into collections. The last time I spoke with someone in the billing department, they told me that they would fix it and that they wouldn't contact me anymore about payment. Well guess what... I just talked with the billing department today 9/4/2020, and they said I still owed $55! I wanted to write this review because I have no idea how many other people they are taking advantage of with their predatory billing practices. A lot of physical therapy patients are the elderly and I can see how repeated threatening bills and phone calls like this might cause them to just pay the extra amount to make them stop. This is NOT OK! And if you're a patient getting random bills from them, make sure you double check everything before just paying it. read more

Over billed and wouldn't correct. Staff informed me after full insurance check that there was only a 30 dollar copay. 4 months after I stopped going there, suddenly coinsurance bills showed up. The staff misinformed me about how they would bill my insurance to get me in the door, then sent me bills after I stopped going there. When I asked several times about my bills and insurance, I was told the copay was all that I was to pay. I would have never come here if I knew it was like this. The PT also asked me about my doctor and wanted me to refer him so he could get new patients, which I did being a nice guy that I am. Now the staff backstabs me and wants more money. I was referred to Joel Scherr by my neurologist after I was hospitalized due to a serious disc herniation injury. I was in so much pain that I couldn't sit up right for more than a handful of minutes and wasn't able to drive my car or walk for more than a couple of blocks at most. SInce moving to LA 10 years ago, I've been to 12 physiotherapists and chiropractors for an ongoing shoulder issue that no one was able to treat, but of course they were all happy to charge me for their failure. Silvia is the best physical therapist I have worked with. I have had neck and shoulder problems for 15 years. I have seen a few therapists before that actually might have made it worst. Silvia is very knowlegeable, kind and does not rush. She is very attentive and does everything necessary to get you well. After about a year after her treatments, my neck is still doing good and has its maximum range of motion, thanks for the great excercises she gives to take home. I was seeing Joel and his team for over 3 months due to a serious broken ankle. Joel is really caring and compassionate. He took the time to listen to my issues and pains. He was also fabulous in communicating with my surgeon on my progress. Joel knew the right balance of pushing me to improve while be conscience of my pain level. They spent significant time mobilizing my ankle and then working with me in the gym so I could regain my strength and balance. Joel is a great physical therapist. He and his team helped me come back from a pretty bad broken ankle. Of course, you do most of the work. They teach you the exercises, make sure your technique is solid, etc. But the good news is that if you listen and work hard, you can actually perform better than before. Dr. Joel Scherr's office is fantastic. Within the past 2 years I went for 2 stints of 2-3 months a time, 2-3 days a week, to rehab 2 achilles tendon ruptures (different feet). Both times through Joel, Bobby, and the rest of his staff did a phenomenal job rehabilitating my legs back to regain strength, control, mobility, flexibility, and athletic use.
