My favorite sub shop, hands down. I live 80 miles away and always stop here for a sub.

Awesome sub spot. Get there early or they'll be out of bread. Not a single complaint about them.

I lived a few blocks from Lenny & John's up until I was 12 and ate there countless times. Tuna was my fave. Thirty years later I went back and not only were they still there, but it was EXACTLY how I remembered it, meaning that it was awesome. It was like stepping back in time. Stopped in for a chicken parm one morning and bit into a sandwich made built of bread and disrespect. Honestly one of the worst things to touch my tastebuds. Luckily for Lenny & John, my new found faith in Jesus justified my action to turn the other cheek, walk back in there and try out another sandwich. I remember like it was yesterday.... I went here because of the reviews posted here. It truly has a micro-local fan-club, I found the sandwiches to be tasteless. The tuna, which had received raves, had the consistency of a puree. The toppings were similar to what you might find at a Subway or other fast-food establishments. It is not a gourmet deli, nor does it pose as one. However, you can get much better quality and flavor across the street at the local Italian deli. A side note- one may also overhear racist comments and experience mild hostility when ordering your sandwich. read more

I ordered a sandwich and had some other items. They are over priced for what you get and when I paid, the lady with the long hair put everything in a paper bag. That is great, but I also asked for plastic- easy carrying and I had a glass bottle of a drink they sell. She proceeded to remove everything out if the bag and empty everything to the plastic bag. I told her I wanted both for Protection. She said it cost money to do that it's too expensive. Can you imagine? And she was rude about it. Customers are important and clearly they dont care. Terrrible service. They cater to the regulars that come in. I waited 25 mins on line. Someone called that they knew ordered ( subs and started working on the order and never even asked what I wanted. I then addressed it and they lied stating they called a whole ago. I stayed it's not fair the rough woman and loud obnoxious man then said whatever. This place has been around for years . I live about 5 minutes away from them and they are NEVER open. They always have a closed sign on the window. I would suggest to open more often especially because there are two popular bars literally across the street that are open during and after work hours... they will make a killing. I had one sandwich years ago and it was very good. It's ashamed they open when they feel like it, it serves no justice for the community only for the owners convenience. read more

So who doesn't like a good sub? Lenny & John's Subs located in Bloomfield, NJ is one of the best places in town to get a good tasting sub and the customer service and quality of the food is just right. I hear they have the best Tuna but I have yet to try it. read more

I hate to be the party pooper, but this place does not live up to expectations. After reading the reviews, I was looking forward to getting a great quality and tasty sandwich from Lenny & John's. I went there on a Saturday afternoon and there were no other customers in the store. That should have been our indication to leave. We were begrudgingly greeted by the employees there. They just stared at us like we were aliens and I didn't really feel welcome in their store. There was no "great attitude" at Lenny & John's. My boyfriend ordered a chicken parm and I ordered a GRILLED turkey and cheese sandwich. While we waited for the sandwiches, I looked around for something to drink. They didn't have that great of a variety, so it was hard to choose. The sandwiches were prepared quickly. I was excited to go home and chow down on my GRILLED turkey and cheese sammy that I was craving all day. Only to come home and realize that they never grilled my sandwich. I paid for a sandwich that I could of made at home. Major disappointment!!! My boyfriend wasn't too thrilled about his chicken parm either. We won't return ever again. I feel like these reviews were very misleading about the quality of sandwiches and attention to detail, like actually listening to and confirming your customer's order. read more

The customer service is amazing, as well as the recommendations if you're looking to venture off your normal. This place was really convenient to my house when I wasn't able to get up and go just anywhere. The sandwiches are reasonably priced and you get a lot for what you pay. I originally only used to eat a #1 but have now tried 5 other sandwiches, each one was a good as the one before. This is also the only place I will ever eat tuna fish from... which I highly recommend, it is literally the best tuna I have ever had and cannot replicate. I still wish they would update the inside and extend their hours a bit, but then again, if they did this, they would probably start to increase the prices... and the prices are definitely a major reason for getting 5 stars from me. read more

The best sub shop in NJ. I have eaten here off and on since high school (and I'm in my 40s now). Neither Lenny or John are here very much now- I believe it's their kids that run it now. The quality is still great, they always have very fresh topping and the topping/condiment ratio is always right on. Be aware they close early some days when they run out of bread (which they get fresh every morning). I dread getting there after the lunch rush and seeing the "out of bread" sign written on a paper plate taped to the door. I agree with other reviewers that you should try the tuna first. Tuna with everything is as good a sub as you could get anywhere. I have high school friends that have since moved to Florida and when the visit first stop is for a L & J tuna. 'nuff said. read more

L & J's is just the best! You will never have a bad sandwich from there. The sandwiches are plentifull and delicious. Wash it down with a yoohoo and a side of potatoe or maccaroni salad bag of chipsand your set. read more

My favorite place to get subs when I'm in the area. Been going for the last 15 years.

Bottom line: Cheap, unique, fresh and with a great attitude. The Pro's: Simple ingredients, large portions, large variety, fair price, great taste The Con's: Weird location. Kind of out of the way. We also had to wait in line. But that is not a big issue for us. read more

Ignore what the outside looks like, it's all about what's inside. There's something about the tuna here that can't be explained, you just gotta try it. Provolone on everything and get extra oil and vinegar so it really soaks in to the bread. read more

Lenny & Johns is the BEST! Screw subway and blimpies!! You get so much for your money at Lenny and Johns! The workers are so nice and sweet and respectful. =) The only thing I don't like is the hours. However they are now open on Sundays! This place is one where I would recommend to EVERYONE! read more

This review does not need to be long......just go! Don't let the outside appearance fool you, enter the door and smell the amazing sandwiches. I opted for Italian while my buddy got the corned beef club, both sandwiches were huge and amazing. Cash only, and parking can be a pain, but the food made me click the 5th star. read more
