Before our visit, I contacted the deli to reserve tables and advise them of the accommodations my students would require. They were very kind and happy to accommodate our large group. Foods good but service is lacking. Ordered a couple daily special trays one week. Lady calls and say they cannot get it done by a certain time and is very apologetic. Thats fine and we agreed to a later time. Figured they were just busy, no problem food was good. A week or two later we place same order it feeds a bunch of my employees. Get same call this time person was not apologetic. Let me know "its a dinner only" item and we dont see that any where on menu or online. and left me feeling like we are inconviencing them by spending money with them. read more

After getting pastrami sandwiches and sloppy joes from the Montclair area, it's great to finally go to a place that actually does pile on the meat. They don't even advertise it. They just do it. The sloppy joe could have used a smidge more dressing to pep it up a little. I guess I can't complain too much since you get a mouthful of corned beef and pastrami. They were also nice enough to give me fries even though they didn't charge me. There was a mixup somewhere in the ordering process. This place sits in a unique location, positivitea and a couple great pizzerias surround it. I came in and it was empty. Its your average deli with seating, deceivingly quite spacious though. Save one woman enjoying her sandwich and a lady standing in front of me waiting for her order, the place was empty. I ordered a tuna melt with pepper jack cheese instead of American, all on rye bread. The gentleman behind the counter taking my order didn't ask if I wanted any condiments. Nothing. The lady who answered my questions for him(standing behind the counter, a couple feet away from the gentleman) looked like she hated life and responded to me with what felt like a hint of annoyance or contempt. It took forever for them to get my sandwich to me, because it was in the oven I guess, that would have been the only reason why it would take so long in an empty deli. When I received it though, it was the saddest sandwich I had ever seen(check photo). I grimaced, and began to eat it. For $9+, I got no condiments, just two pieces of bread, tuna, and a couple slices of pepper jack cheese. For nine plus dollars... Never again. Oh sorry, there were two wee pickles they gave me. Sigh. After several bites, I was convinced it was one of the better tuna melts I've had in a long time. Overall experience here was eh. This deli has been around even longer than I and it's still a hit spot and continues to be for many locals. I would come here with my friends on lunch break during the summer and after work days and on the weekends. I believe this is the second best place to get a sloppy joe. Their homemade coleslaw is what makes it for me. I always order it without the mustard (southern Essex county style). I believe Town Hall Deli in South Orange is the best, but if you're in the Verona area, it's not worth the extra trip - the two are that similar in quality. read more

Last week we decided to go to Lakeside deli pick up some food and have a small picnic with my granddaughter. We bought a hotdog some salads and condiments when we got to the park and open the bag the hotdog was overdone and there were no utensils. We call Lakeside deli let them know that they fell short. I was very happy with the food I ordered from Lakeside today. I was entertaining a few friends in a Covid responsible outdoor setting. The sandwich box offered by Lakeside was perfect. The sandwiches were delicious and individually wrapped. I was able to order and prepay with my credit card which was great. I'm reserving one star because the pick up was slightly disastrous. There were just way too many people in the store and I was very uncomfortable. Furthermore, two different staff members were half masked. I think I will order from them again, but probably at an off hour. read more
