I first came to Lenny upon the recommendation of my boyfriend's grandmother. She was quite right to recommend him! Lenny is a great guy who will give your car the attention and care that your car needs. He is also a good mechanic because he will not go looking for repairs to make on your car unless you ask him to. I have had two major car repairs at Lenny's: first a complete brake change, and second repairs to my front after a guy backed into my little car. Both were completed promptly and correctly. He even worked really well with my insurance people. The garage itself is pretty small. Sometimes his son will work there too, but mostly it is just Lenny, a cat, and a dog. No, there is not a fancy waiting room, but it is a close walk to Belmont Center where you can go to Starbucks or Macy's while you wait. Enterprise is also very close if you need a rental. Lenny is a wizard when it comes to auto mechanics. He has always been not only accurate with his diagnosis of the problem, but beyond reasonable in terms of pricing. I've been taking my cars to him for several years, and have never been more impressed with the quality of someone's work, but also the more than fair pricing of the labor. Just one example of his work is with the electrical issues with my tail lights on one of my vehicles. A casing had gotten cracked when I was rear ended, and the housing was never fixed properly by a previous mechanic. After $700 of work, the signaling system still did not work properly. So I took it to a second mechanic. Another $700, and it turns out that it STILL did not work properly. Lenny not only fixed the problem, but did so at much less than the previous two mechanics. read more

I realized on a Saturday afternoon around 2pm that my car needed an inspection sticker. I tried 3 places and each closed at 12 or 2pm. Then I found out that Lenny's offers inspections on Saturdays until 5pm. They were polite, quick & efficient. They completely removed the old sticker and put the new one on neatly. I've been going to Lenny for years. He always takes the time to listen to me, and the car is ready when he says it will be, not a few hours or a few days later like some other places. His prices are fair and he will often tell me what he found and then ask me what I would like to do, instead of just handing me a bill. Oil changes and stickers are always done with in a reasonable amount of time. He also has a knack for figuring out issues that other shops can't. Lenny is the typical old style mechanics, the one that give mechanics a bad name! My girlfriend took her car there for basic oil change and liked the guy, thought he was nice and not a crook. When my car didn't pass inspection because of emissions, I decided to take it there for him to check out the reason. I knew it was an issue with the EGR valve because I checked the codes at home, and was expecting that he would pick the same error code and just offer to change the valve and reset the computer. For my surprise, when I called to know how things were going he started with the typical blablabla of sketchy mechanics: he said he got 2 error codes and that he figured out that the gasket for the intake manifold was leaking, and the cost of fixing would be 500 to 600 hundred. I told him about the EGR code that come up before and then he got all defensive, realizing that the whole intake manifold story would not work. The proof of his lack of honesty is that he automatically said he would check the EGR valve and would call me back. I had to call him, to hear him admitting he would change the EGR valve, but still would charge me 380 bucks to do so, including $20 for gas he used to test the car!!! Half a tank!!! I reluctantly accepted to pay just so I could get my car back and with a valid sticker. My choices were to get my car and pay his time to take to another crook of mechanic, and spend even more money. Or pay the guy who I know is making me a fool, but has no way to lie even more. An absurd story!!! ###### Bottom line. Lenny was not honest, decided to find something in my car to charge for, got all angry and disrespectful when caught lying, and came up with absurd costs. The EGR valve costs $75 at Auto Zone, he charged me $135!!!! Take you car there if you want to be fooled. Unfortunately I know enough about mechanics to know he was lying to me and ripping me off, but not enough to fix the car myself. Hope this helps you make a decision. read more

My absolutely favorite place to bring a car that needs inspection. Always friendly and prompt service and they never find things "wrong" with my car that require fixing before I can get the sticker. Last time I had a headlamp out, and Lenny was trying to avoid doing car repair for a few days due to a recent injury to his hand. So I asked where I could go nearby to get the bulb fixed. Instead, he did it himself because he knew how many shops around use inspection as a scam to get more business, and didn't feel comfortable recommending anyone. read more

I brought my car to Lenny's on recommendation from a friend of Lenny's son. Lenny's son Keith led me to believe he was fixing my car for half the price as any other mechanic and just asked that I pay him $700 up front to order the parts. Stupidly I agreed and paid him..he gave me a receipt and then never fixed my car or returned my calls. LENNY promised to make it right but has yet to do ANYTHING! DO NOT bring you car here. Since I have threatened legal action his son Keith had sent rude and malicious text messages to my fine. I am completely appalled and baffled at the way they do business. read more

By far the worst experience I have ever had when it comes to finding an honest priced mechanic. The son Keith, is the biggest scam artist. Gave me an outrageous cost to fix my car where I nicely stated it did not sound right and he became very defensive and rude. Telling me any other place will charge me much more, where that is absolutely false because I did end up finding another mechanic who charged at a lower rate, and properly displayed GUEST SATISFACTION. Lenny did nothing to work prices out he just goes along with his son to rip off hard working middle class customers such as myself.
