I wish I could give you more than five stars..... I went to a local shop, Eastland Motors, this week to get an inspection sticker. The mechanic told me that my car didn't pass, due to brake issues. He offered to access the brakes and fix any problems. They put a rejection sticker on my windshield. Since this effort could potentially be an expensive effort and I didn't know the place, I was reluctant. But the owner assured me that they would do a good job. So I made an appointment for the next day. Still has reservations about them doing the work. My neighbor suggested reading any Yelp reviews before moving forward. I did this and was shocked at all the bad reviews. Told them in person the next day that I couldn't do business with them, due to the bad reviews, and drove away before the mechanic could respond. Made an appointment with Direct Tire in Watertown, who I had been going to for about 30 years. They are great! Susan, the representative, looked up my car in Carfax, She found that my brake and rotors had been replaced in early June of last year by Parkway Toyota. I bought the car from them a few weeks later. They gave me a loaner car, too. Thank you, Susan and Godfrey, and thank you, Direct Tire and Parkway Toyota for being so honest!! This is why I have gone to Direct Tire for so long. read more

Another visit to Direct Tire after Jack Madden service failed me... I needed an oil change, brakes, and a tire rotation for a vehicle on its last legs. I explained the situation to the sales associate and they both listened and understood. I figured I was looking at between $500 and a grand all told, but they called back after the service with news that the brakes were warped but had plenty of pad so they hadn't done anything per my request. Also rather than doing the tire rotation to swap my spare for a slow leaker they just fixed the leak and didn't charge me for it. Oil change and service? Just over $100. I left a thank-you tip for the tech who comped the $40 tire fix because no matter how cheap I am on a car, labor ain't free and these guys did me a solid. So, as usual, highest marks. So I arrived a few minutes before my appointment and talked w some guy outside who said to go inside and he'd be "right with (me)". 15minutes later, I tracked HIM down and he said it'd be 90 minutes. Last summer, I was having so much trouble with my car, I was sure I was going to have to invest in something new. One of their amazing technicians, Adam, made a miracle happen and found some hidden electrical issue in the car and here I am nearly a year later, and it's driving better than it did when I first got it. I referred my partner whose car hadn't started in over a month to Adam, who in only 2 days got the car running, changed all 4 tires and corrected everything in order for my partner to pass inspection. Called at 8:30am got the tires I wanted, dropped off the car at 2:15 and was back and fully functional by 5:30. Rick helped me out from over the phone all the way up to pickup in the same day. Would recommend for anyone to buy their tires here and receive routine automotive services. Had over $1000.00 worth of my own equipment & tools & computers/ipad/ construction code books in the car and all of it was in the same place it was when I dropped the vehicle off. This is a trusted business now in my book. When I moved to the Boston Area about 40 years ago, I needed automobile service for my early 1980s NIssan Stanza. I heard an ad on the Jerry Williams show for Direct tire. I tried them out, and never looked back. I've taken my cars to Direct Tire for mostly wheel related service, but now trust them with all my service. I've been to other service centers closer to home (Brookline) but keep going back to Direct Tire in Watertown. Regardless of where I shop, I look for 3 things, a good product/service at a good price, and with good customer service. Everyone at Direct Tire has failed to disappoint. They are very accommodating and their loaner cars (not free but very minimal cost) have been a big help. I know I've saved at least 50% vs what the dealer would charge for many services including a new muffler, brakes, and regular service maintenance. My current vehicle, a 2012 Toyota Camry is the last new car I'll every own, and I trust Direct Tire to take care of my automobile needs read more

OK i had to think long and hard and wait a few months before writing this because i have gone to Direct Tire for more than 20 (30?) years! and am inclined to give it the benefit of the doubt but honestly, the last experience was too painful to let slide. Took the (admittedly old) Toyota in because of radiator leak and a check up. it was an expensive repair--more than $4k. When i picked it up, i quickly realized there was now no heat but the shop was now closed. The next day i made them pick it up at my house. I did not request --or want-- a loaner car but they left one, which i guess was nice but meant i had to go drop off loaner which i did not want to do. The next day i drove about 200 miles to CT, the heat was working. BUT, something was off and when i checked the radiator reservoir was back on EMPTY. So the initial repair was botched. I called on a saturday and left a pretty angry VM. Owner returned call within hours and offered to tow the car back....to fix it right this time. Due to my AAA the tow charge was minimal and DT reimbursed it, but the fact of the matter was I was stuck in CT without a car and should have asked for a rental... my bad. Long story long, the REAL issue was that one repair (again, costing more than $4k) took three trips to the same shop and stranded me. Bob, the owner, was quite nice, but i think this is the end of the road for DT in my case. read more

I suggest that you use the scheduling bot on their website to set up service appointments ahead of time to get the best experience. Went today for the first time after going to another shop for years - as I was always worried about shops knowing how to handle an EV. Now that they are more common I decided to give these folks a shot. They did a great job with the car (so any Tesla owners, note this is a great place to go). Anyways there was some confusion on pricing during my original phone call and my price upon arriving for the seasonal tire swap was about 2x what I was told on the phone. I expressed my disagreement, was clear about what I had asked on the original phone call, but asked them to continue as I needed the swap - figured I would eat the difference. Whelp they apologized for the confusion and actually did the service at a lower cost than they even told me on the phone - cutting me a great deal due to the miscommunication. Smart move because they have absolutely earned by business and will be going there for my next set of tires in the Spring. I write my first-ever yelp review because I unknowingly dropped my wallet on Monday as I picked up the car at DT. DT employees found it and went the extra mile to make sure I got my wallet back that same day. 1/2 hour after I left DT I call from Susan from DT. She told me that a different DT employee had found my wallet on the pavement and had given it to her. When I told Susan that I wouldn't be able to return to the store that day, she generously offered to take my wallet home, since she had noticed that we lived in adjacent towns, an hour away from the store. I am 8 months pregnant and traveled to Boston for a work meeting. My check engine light came on and my car started making a funny noise. I stoped at two other shops before Direct tire and I got no help or willing to help a stranded lady out. The wonderful men here immediately said they would look at it. Had it in the shop for diagnostic not 5 minutes after I arrived and within 15 minutes they knew the issue and ordered the part. I will be forever thankful for their help and going above and beyond to make sure me and my baby boy were safe before I took my long drive back home. I had a really good experience with here. I hit a huge pothole coming off of the highway, and popped both of my tires on the right hand side. I made an appointment online for the next morning at 7am. I will say that the chat functionality and online scheduling isn't accurate, since when I got there, the team said the tools aren't connected correctly to their actual schedules, and they were already booked for that time slot, so its always better to just call. I lived close by so I didn't mind just leaving my car instead of waiting for the service to be complete. The most impressive part on why 5 stars, is because the team called me when they figured out the 2 tires were unrepairable, were able to send my wheel for service (it was bent from the pothole) and get 2 new tires all done within the same day. I was able to pick up at the end of the day and they were upfront/transparent on all costs and options on what I wanted to get done or skip. Do not go to this location with any type of tire repair. They put a tire that was damaged and could have blown out anytime back on my car and told me it was safe. I had suggested I buy a new tire and they were adamant that the tire was safe. . I went to my local trusted mechanic the following week and he told me the tire had irreparable and unsafe inner damage and cou have blown at any time. Where I drive high miles every year and at highway speeds this should have been a concern for Direct Tire. It was end of day and I think they just wanted to go home. Direct tire put my life and my passengers lives in danger even though I offered to purchase a new tire... not to be trusted. This reply a lie. I did not go in for a low tire warning. I came in with a FLAT.. There was a donut on the car so of course the tire light was on. Further, They did not even OFFER TO ORDER the tire.so yes another lie. The employee laughed and said you definitely do need to buy a new tire. This one is safe to drive. Do not put your life in their hands. . Went there for new tires, which they sold at a competitive price. Was told they couldn't do the alignment because the tie rods were frozen and needed to be replaced at an estimate of about $700. Um, no thanks. Went back to my regular mechanic and asked them to take a look at the problem. Regan's Service was able to complete the alignment (required applying heat to the tie rods), albeit at $10 more than what Direct Tire was going to charge me for just the alignment, but I avoided the huge repair bill. Great for tires, but be careful with other service. read more

I made an appointment and went in to buy a pair of tires, enjoying the free coffee in the waiting room and reading my newspaper. While the work was being done, the man at the desk told me the maintenance light was on, and I needed an oil change. Do I want to okay it? I declined, as I mainly use a service station closer to my home for regular maintenance. After I left, I noticed that the maintenance light was indeed on. It was not on when I drove into the place. I also noticed that the sticker showing the most recent oil change was gone from the windshield. When I got home, I checked my receipts, and my previous oil change was only 2,000 miles ago. I called them and made an appointment to go back in and have them turn off the maintenance light, which they did without complaint. (It is standard practice that service stations set a reminder when the next oil change is due, and it can be manually turned on and off.) The original owner is gone and the shop has a new owner. I noticed other customers in the waiting room also being offered additional work. I would advise customers to be wary of offers for extra services. Otherwise, I assume the tires I bought and the installation and rotation were done well. Hence a rating of 3. They are pleasant to deal with. However, I will not return, as they try to sell you stuff you may or may not need. read more

This is definitely where you want to buy tires - get that road hazard warranty!! They also have honest mechanics doing great work here, and I've had especially good experiences with their suspension and alignment work. So why 4 stars? Because they refuse to use any parts they didn't order for you. They wouldn't even perform an oil change using my oil. I've never had this experience with a shop, and of course they can't offer me OE/OEM parts at the prices I can get them for myself on FCP Euro, ECS, or Turner. Unfortunately, this means that it is simply not cost effective to do most repairs here. Still, because of the warranty it is the right place to buy tires and it's also a great place to get a high-quality alignment done. read more

If you are going to use Direct Tire for major work always call a dealer for comparative pricing. In the 3 cases that a family member has used DT they have always been equal to or more expensive than local dealers. They say their shop rates are lower than dealers but they charge more hours than a dealer for the same work which inflates the price of the job. I'm surprised more reviews don't point this out but maybe their customers assume they are getting a better price than at a dealer. read more

I'm so impressed with this place. Usually I have to go into a car service place and expect that they try to overcharge me or tell me that I needed services when I don't actually need them. I got a flat on my car, called direct tire the day before, spoke with Andrew on the phone. I set up an appointment for a possible tire repair and if not then a tire replacement. Andrew did not have the tire in stock so he ordered the tire just in case it would need to be replaced. One of the technicians showed us why the tire could not be patched so I ended up needing the tire replaced. The price was reasonable and when I asked if I needed an alignment, the technician said he would check first and call me if I needed one. I did not end up needing to have a tire alignment which would've cost an additional $90. I did not wait for the car since it would've taken 45 minutes but they do have a waiting area with comfy chairs, a TV, and a coffee/espresso machine that makes a pretty good cappuccino. I picked up my car and was shocked that they vacuumed the carpets in my car! My car was in dire need of vacuuming too, these guys are awesome. Call direct tire. They will hook you up! read more

Stay away from these crooks. There are much cheaper and safer places to go for tire service. I stopped in there to have them fix a slow leak in one of my rear tires. The shop guy removed the tire and checked it for leaks. The counter attendant tells me that my tire is rotting and will need to be replaced so I had him price a tire for me. The price for one tire was $410 bucks! Screw that...for that price I'll shop around since it's a slow leak. I had them put the wheel back on the car and I took it home. A week later Sullivan tire up the street had a sale so I stopped there to replace the tire. The sullivan tire technician started on my car then came out to tell me that who put my wheel on last stripped all but one of my lugnuts on the wheel and I was very lucky the wheel stayed on the car when it was driven. He also told me that whoever put this wheel back on the car deliberately stripped the lugnuts. Needless to say I was shocked then pissed off. This clown that replaced my wheel at direct tire could have killed me. One the work was complete I stopped back at Direct tire with the four stripped bolts and nuts and showed the manager what his shop guy did to my wheel. Of course he denied they did that. No apology. nothing. I have not been back there again and recommend to everyone I know not to go there. read more
