Got here at 5pm and every table was open. Our waiter Steve came out and took our order. I had a dozen clams on the half shell, cheese burger with fried onions and of course corn on the cob. We got chicken tenders and French fries for my 5 and 3 year old great granddaughters. No body had steamers this time. not exactly sure on what the charm was if it was the overwork staff who looked exhausted or the fact they ran out of everything by containers and cups, but I have to admit the staff was nice and they explained everything and they were nice to speak with which is not often found in today's youth The fish was OK. I did enjoy the Steamers quite a bit, but this place has been around forever and I guess it's because it's quick easy and reasonably priced free parking unfortunately outdoor seating open till seven unless people are there and they stay later. read more

This classic New Rochelle Seafood and Burger Shack has been around forever! To that extent , Jay Leno worked here at his uncle's place when he was eleven years old! Yes, that Jay Leno! After an absence of years I stopped in with a date. A large group of ladies were raving about their clams as we got there and they were leaving. This isn't the Ritz but it's great eating outside on a comfortable night. The guy flipping the burgers and the waiter were great! So were the burgers and fries! Only complaint was that the corn was overcooked and soggy, excellent butter couldn't save it! We will be going back before they close for the winter! read more

My mom brought me and my brother here maybe 20 years ago when we were kids and I have very vivid memories of sitting at the counter with a corn on the cob absolutely swimming in butter. Well, here I am all these years later with my mom, my brothers and my brothers kids eating corn on the cob that is swimming in (much much less) butter. And it is just as wonderful of a spot as I remember. We found a picnic table outside, the waiters came by and took our order, and not long later we had all of our greasy food on paper plates and plastic baskets in front of us. We got a bucket of steamers that my mom had to teach us how to eat, a basket of fried clams, a few cheese burgers, and a few corn on the cobs. Ooooooooh baby. What a spread. Now, remember. This is a dive joint. The food is greasy and it is supposed to be. It is either also known as or used to be Greasy Nick's. It's what my mom calls it, and it fits the vibe. The steamers were great, but the process of eating them was hilariously gross. This has to be one of those IYKYK situations. But, if you like buckets of mussels, this is it's less glamorous cousin. The fries were crispy and tasty, the fried clams were delisiously crunchy and greasy and I did not try the burgers but they got the greasy thumbs up. The corn on the cob that I remember oh so fondly was not the best. A lot over cooked and too soft. But soaked in butter, everything is good. Any way, go here, bring the kids, get a Root Beer. I love this kind of place, the relaxed vibe, simple food to make you feel happy. Clams say summer to me and are my way of kicking back and reflecting on simpler times and family fun. Fried clams! There's not many places to get fried clams and these are great! One of our favorite places to have fried food. We tried to come a few times recently, but they were closed. We just happened to drive by on Fathers Day and they were open. So we had a nice relaxing Dad's Fay meal. $15 for a huge basket of clams and fries. (We had 4 baskets around our table), a hamburger and onion rings. The burger can be made with grilled onions. So good and a bit greasy, but that's what you come here for! We went to Leno's for fried clams and they did not disappoint. The french fries were very disappointing though. Service was fast. There were three young guys behind the counter and few customers. Ambiance was as unattractive as one can imagine. I wondered why one of the guys had not come out to sweep the patio. I don't get the hype. Dirty tables, sticky condiment bottles that look like they haven't been cleaned in at least a year, surly staff, so-so seafood, dirty bathroom. I have to say I am so disappointed... Working in the area I have always heard Leno's was a historic local spot for good seafood. I've tried many times to come in, but never had the chance until now. Inside is dated, very dated, but it adds to the charm in my opinion. I opted for the fried clam meal with fries and harder sauce. Portions are good, but it's alllll frozen food! There is a freezer inside with all of their products, right our in the open. It reminded me of the frozen food section at my local grocery store. Nothing is fresh at all! To say this was a disappointment is an understatement. Frozen clams, with frozen fries, and a can of soda... To top it off m, everything was bland. No salt even on the fries, just heated up and put in a tin. Without the tardar sauce it all would have been flavorless. Overall I am not upset I came in, but I will never be back. Good local outdoor dive. Have been going here for 30 yeard. Good cheeseburgers, good fried shrimp. Fried clams are ok now, used to be grrat. They also used to have fresh delicious corn-on-the-cob. I have passed here for a couple of years now, read all the good reviews on Yelp and FINALLY decided to try it for myself. I have to say that I'm a little disappointed because my food was just ok. I had a cheeseburger with onions, corn on the cob and 1/2 dozen raw clams (medium size). Now I loved the onions on the cheeseburger but other than that the burger really didn't have much taste and the bun was too thick for the size of the burger. The corn on the cob was delicious! Nice and hot - could have used a little more butter but overall it was good. The clams were good but the cocktail sauce could have used a little spice to it as it was kind of bland. I didn't see any hot sauce to add to it and the waiter never came over to ask if I needed anything or to even bring me my check - I had to go inside and pay at the register. The restaurant had a steady stream of customers coming in and for that reason I will try it again just to see if maybe they were having an off day. Stay tuned for an update. read more

My family spent lots of time here when we were kids and it was always "Greasy Nicks." The place still looks the same. Food is pretty much what you'd expect for a road-side place. Cheeseburger with onions was yummy. Fries were meh. Clam strips were good but batter could have used more flavor. Nostalgia was fun. But I don't think I'll be back. Yes, this is truly a dive. It's a cook shack with about 40 seats for outside dining. Fried clams fried oysters hamburgers. All pedestrian foods but that's not why you go there. It is replete with history and every local New Rochellian idolizes this place. You really just have to go. read more

I'm new to this spot, it's been here 20+ years and opens seasonally. The building itself is about 100 years old and it has a very homey vibe. The servers are very nice and quick, it's no frills food with a very small menu but what they serve they serve well. It's a simple, after beach, grab-a-bite-before-home type of place. Under the same ownership since 1970, this Shore Road spot deserves a place on Diners Drive-Ins and Dives. Came in for a "nostalgia burger" and it was as good as ever - most importantly, unchanged since my first one in 1977. Think full size White Castle. Start with caramelized onions on the grill, add a full sized burger patty and stick the result between two halves of a lightly buttered and grilled Kaiser Roll for $4. It melted in my mouth and I have insufficient words to describe the deliciousness. My friend went with two split and grilled hot dogs, also served on split grilled buttered buns. The day started as it was almost 70 degrees, I said to my husband perfect day to go eat seafood maybe in city island, he's like ohh let's go somewhere in 5th av pelham manor I'm like we're always there, so then he hit me up and said let's go to leno's clam bar he had just searched online I'm like oh okay doesn't look bad let's try it! we got to the place, there's few people seating in the outside tables,we go inside there's 1 lady waiting for her food and seems like she was there for quite a long time, there's the older man cooking burgers,the other 2 guys are in the back, we stood there for a good 10 to 15 mins without anyone saying anything to us, the older man is cooking with gloves on touching the food and also touching the money when people pay. Finally we look at us and say " are you going to order food" I was just confused like what else are we supposed to be doing there, anyways the menu has few items,everything is fried I ordered the fried clams and fries, and hubby got fried shrimp with fries, we also ordered mozzarella sticks I didn't try them, 1 burger that never came and 1 corn that it was the only good thing from this place. I'm sorry but the older man looks frustrated, the other guys look lost,this place have so much potential to be amazing but it's lacking in so many things. We had buffalo wings, fried and steamed clams, crab cake sandwich, corn on the cob, and beers. The buffalo wings were pretty juicy with a nice crust on the outside even with the sauce. The fried clams and fries were clean tasting and fresh, not at all oily, steamed clams were a bit gritty, but cooked just right, crab cake sandwich is nice and soft with fresh tomatoes and lettuce, corn on the cob is drench in butter, but I enjoy that so its a plus.
