So glad it was easy to find, prices are fair but the young man who helped me, Nikcolas or something I think? I am bad with names. Nice kid but someone needs to speak to him about hygiene. He smelled quite putrid and his breath nearly made me gag making the whole time. Half the time I could not understand him as well. I'm old and young kids speak fast and tend to mumble. I'll come back probably. That was my only issue but if you are dealing with public, please practice being clean and maybe keep mouthwash in your locker. I. Hate. This. Place. It's not this Escondido location that I hate, it's Lenscrafters in general. Unfortunately this is the last location that I had gone to for my yearly eye exams & contacts so they're getting the brunt of my disgust. I wear contacts and to avoid hassle, I buy a year's worth at a time. If you wear contacts, then you know you are required to get a yearly eye exam before you are able to get more contacts (within one year of your last exam). Fine. I've accepted this as the price I must pay to have such crappy vision. I went to Lenscrafters for the first 3 years I lived here because my employer doesn't offer any vision with our insurance. I NEED contacts so I chose Lenscrafters. The first year was fine...or maybe I was just ignorant. I had to go through the usual glaucoma test, and a couple other "mandatory tests to complete my exam before I was allowed to order my years supply of contacts. I think my first bill came to $340 (exam + year supply contacts). Yikes, but fine - thanks mom & dad for bad genetics! Year 2 came around and I had to go back for a re-exam. I was expecting the same exam, but they added in another new test. I asked them why I had to do another test if I had been a past customer and was told "Its a mandatory state law". Once again...I'm ignorant. Heck, if something is state law, then I'd better abide. Right? My bill this year was $480 (exam + year supply contacts). Geesh! Maybe I should look into Lasik. Year 3 came and I found myself dreading my Lenscrafter appointment, but couldn't afford Lasik. Once again 2 more "Mandatory State Law Tests" were given to me along with the other 6. The more I questioned these tests I felt like I was being scammed. The same response from everyone. "It's State Law". Well, imagine my surprise when my bill came to $620 (exam + year supply contacts). I was furious and felt like I had been royally screweed. And guess what, I didn't enjoy it. Year 4 - guess what, I went to Costco optical, paid $75 for an exam & $145 for my year supply of contacts & I've been there for the past 7 years....but that's another review. read more

My complaint is mainly with the "bedside manner" of Dr. Robert Gentile. My eldest son (he's in his 20s) went to get an eye exam there, and as far as eye exams go, it was fine. What he and I didn't appreciate was the sexist comments Dr. Gentile felt the need to make, about my son being able to see better so he can leer at girls. And then when my son mentioned he had a long term girlfriend, Dr. Gentile said something along the lines of, "Now you can leer at other girls without her knowing". I mean, come on. This isn't the locker room. This is a doctor's office. And it made my son, who doesn't really feel comfortable going to any doctor for any reason, really hinky about going again. That type of talk isn't appropriate at a doctor's office. Dr. Gentile's bio says he's prior military, and a lot of people are probably going to use that as an excuse for his behavior, but there isn't an excuse. We need to do better. Act like a professional or at least grow up. I was going to get my twelve year old daughter an appointment next but now I'm going somewhere else. read more

Buying the glasses went great, it's after you pay that's the problem. Thank you for your money and.... its a wrap people. Customer service takes a bow and leaves center stage. I came back to pick up my glasses and watched three employees stare at me while carrying on a conversation that I had the nerve to interrupt. One of the ladies begrudgingly got my glasses from the back, handed them to me and walked away to resume her conversation. Unfortunately for her they were crooked and she had to take her valuable social time to do her job. Long story short... I ended up being handed glasses cleaner spray bottle and a box of tissues to clean my own lenses without even a 'thank you' from anyone at the store. If it's convenience you want- then it is what it is. Honestly the price is comparable to any other place. If you need help finding frames, advice on lenses or any sort of assistance for which employees are paid.. keep walking. read more

** Consumer Alert: This place pretends "Standard" plastics lens don't exist as part of your basic benefits.** This is for the Lenscrafters at the North County Westfield Mall. I was excited with my new Blue View Vision insurance that I am paying extra for as part of my workplace benefits. Needless to say, I can't wait until open enrollment so that I can drop it and save my money! I will stick to VSP through my husband's job and get my glasses at Costco next year through VSP reimbursement. This is was my absolute first time at LensCrafters. I have worn glasses for 10 years. Lot of future buisness potential with LensCrafters right?. I hope after getting my glasses this year for my money's worth (yet to have been decided and spent), I will NEVER go back to any LensCrafters. I wish I took the name of the associate who helped me. All I will describe her is young, dark black hair that is cut short at the shoulders. Above all, dishonest. First thing first AFTER I chose my to be future glasses, she got all of my insurance information. THEN she insisted that polycarbonate was a MUST as the material for the lens to be used. That's a $40 copay. SECOND, she insist I had to go the Anti-Reflective coating. This means with all my co-pays added, I wouldn't leave without putting $100 in their hands. What I wanted were the STANDARD plastic lens covered by my $15 copay. Polycarbonate sometimes causes chromatic abberation for me, meaning I will get discoloration of edges of letters. But of course, LensCrafters tries to fool me dumb and pretend that "Standard Lens" don't exist. I looked at my husband and we both agreed to hold our business with them for now and look at other options (i.e. reimbursement through Costco, Wal-Mart, or Warbyparker.com). Depending on my mood, I may try the other LensCrafters off Auto Park Way just for this year. To update then if I make that decision. read more

If there was an option for negative stars, that's what I'd rate this store. My boyfriend and I gave this place THREE chances with three COMPLETELY different people helping us every time.. We came in on a weekday looking for new glasses for my boyfriend. We're relatively "young looking" and so most places assume that when we walk into a store that our purchase isn't a "serious" one so we already knew the mediocre customer service we received from Bob. Bob politely (did his job) educated us about the discounts and services Lenscrafters had to offer us. Bob informed us that they hold glasses for a week so naturally, we put the glasses on hold to shop around and see other options for glasses. We call two days later and the glasses aren't on hold as promised. Upset, we go back to the store ready to purchase and we're helped by a very rude man (don't remember his name). He passes us on to a woman (don't remember her name) but she wasn't any better with her customer service skills. We expressed to her that we were ready to make a purchase. We told her we wanted to get BRAND NEW (order new one's that have no been on display) glasses and she threatens us that it will take about a month for us to get the glasses without even asking us if we were willing to wait that long (which we were). Seeing as she just wanted to make a sale, we walked our asses right out.. and called the Escondido store where they had the glasses & lens we needed that same day. EFF THIS PLACE. read more

Went to Encinitas store for last adjustment and was informed glasses are too heavy for my face, hence the falling off when I looked down. If I could give negative star ratings I would. I went to LensCrafters to get my eyes checked and I'm currently pregnant. They lied to me and told me I can't take the test that is covered by my insurance and the only option I had was this other test. So I did the test and left. I did my research and apparently I can do the other test that's covered by my insurance and they were just trying to get more money off of me. I don't mind paying the money but I don't appreciate being lied to and taken advantage of. They didn't even tell me that this test is not covered by my insurance. I will never go there again, especially to this branch. I ordered glasses on March 11, 2020, it is now May 28, 2020. I can't get any information regarding my order. I have called and get no help from any Lense Crafters phone number. If you get a live person they just tell you they have no access to my order. I have filled out the online link they send to your iPhone 5 times. Just had an online chat and that was a dead end. I have been going to LensCrafters to get my kids eyes checked for more than four years now, and I cannot recommend them more highly. I always am confident that they do a very good job, it's super easy to schedule an appointment, and everyone who has helped us has been wonderful. We also recently went there to get contacts for my 12yo daughter, and they were so very patient with her when it took her so much time to get used to putting the contacts in and taking them out. Awful service during the pandemic. My prescription is barely two months expired (which expired over the lock down) and the doctor is refusing to honor those months and allow me to buy them. They originally said that the doctor was giving an extension for patients who expired during the pandemic, but in a move of pure greed are now not honoring extension and forcing people to come in for an examination. With elderly cancer patients in out home we are attempting to social distance and limit all unnecessary exposure. Taking my parents back and forth to the hospital with dry contacts has been hard enough while waiting for eye exam stores to open. While the customer service rep rudely told me that I could have purchased them online during the pandemic, I explained to her that there was also no way to get the prescription while they were closed during the shut down either. I was scheduled for an appointment on Monday but the receptionist told me to wait until she had spoken to the doctor because she was offering extensions as a courtesy. No one called me and my appointment day passed. I called today and was informed that the doctor declined the extension. While I understand that in person appointments are necessary for things like my parents cancer treatments, eye exams with barely expired prescriptions could easily be solved by offering a one or two month supply (which I would gladly pay for in full) would be the decent thing to for patients who have been loyal Lenscrafters customers for years. I'm sad that this is the way that Lenscrafters has allowed their franchises to handle patients during these troubling times and I will begin to look for other local options for my family's vision needs. Lenscrafters needs to look at how Kaiser is handling the pandemic. They are the model of how to be decent to people when they are confined to their home for reasons they did not choose. read more

I was able to get an appointment very quickly. Being active duty, our access to care isn't very great. I was misdiagnosed for conjunctivitis. The optometrist was able to correctly diagnose me with extreme dry eyes so i was using antibiotic drops for no reason. With the recommendation Lens Crafters gave me, Insee an instant improvement in 1 day. Staff is very nice. Great customer service. Def. will come here again. Thanks LensCrafter team! read more

In April 2016, I purchased 4 pair of glasses from here. 2 for myself and 2 for my daughter. The service was good. The prices not bad. Today I went back with a pair that have cracked around the nose piece. I was told there is no warranty past 30 days. A $300 pair of glasses are now garbage because guess what?? They don't repair that kind of glasses!! Customer policy I was told. Really? If you don't repair them...you might want to tell customers that before they buy them! It's our yearly check up. We were called ahead of time to set up an appointment, I like getting those reminders! Arrived and checked in no problem. Busy day and it was a Saturday evening in the mall. Plenty going on to watch whilst waiting for the Doctor. Preliminary checks were efficient no problem. This lenscrafter is horrible. The coating on my glassess peels off for the second time. Both times, The lenses were only two months old. I have always had coating on my glasses and it never gave me problems until I decided to come to lenscrafter. Yup, my first time using their service and it would be my last time also. I actually have been told that I should purchase their protection plan. Then I have been told I should have use their cloth to clean the glasses and the cloth has to be hand wash once a week , otherwise it will ruin the lenses. They told me this is the only way to clean your glasses. That is ridiculous and I believe the quality of their lenses are so poor that they push for you to buy their protection plan. Not to mention the customer service at this location is just terrible. read more

This place has definitely lost me and my families business. I have never in my life received such rude customer service. So this all began when I accidentally missed my appointment. Last year during my eye exam they went ahead and scheduled my next appointment and I forgot to write it down. I'm not sure if they called me to confirm my appointment or not but I'm guessing they did not since I had totally forgotten about it. I had gotten a voicemail from them from one of the ladies working there stating that if I called back and scheduled an appointment before the 20th, I would receive 20% off my entire purchase including contacts. Let me add that my family had moved up to temecula and were planning on just going to our local LensCrafters here, but since they were offering the discount I thought heck why not ill just make a day out of it. So I called back to schedule my appointment and confirmed that YES they would honor the 20% off. So fast forward to my appointment day. I walk in and am helped by a lady at the front with short grey hair. First thing: she could not find my appointment and said there was no 12 o'clock appointment for the day and she could schedule me at three. I was really confused and kindly told her no I had made the appointment just a few days before and three would not work out. I then mentioned the 20% off offer and she just gave me a blank stare. Then out of nowhere the eye doctor (middle eastern looking man) barged in a literally pushed the other lady aside and asked what was happening. She explained to him that my appointment wasn't showing up. He then asked me my name and started clicking away and said I wasn't in there system. I looked at him and said excuse me I've been coming here for four years, your the doctor that helped me last year? He pretty much ignored me and said well there is no 20% offer going on right now. So I explained to him the voicemail I got and that I called back and made an appointment so what was he going to do about it. He said well you must of fallen the wrong number. So I pulled out my phone (and at this point kicking myself that I didn't save the voicemail) and read him off the number I called. He says no that's not there number. So I said really let's see and called the number. Lo and behold little blond lady sitting at her desk answers the phone! And when she looked up and realized I was the one calling her face turned to stone. He continues to just stand there staying at me. I told him so you just lied to me, is that necessary? I am a paying customer. And I'm being honest I was not yelling or being a complete bitch, but I was pretty pissed off this guy just lied to my face! I then again asked him what can he do for me since I had driven 30 miles for nothing now. He then has the audacity to WALK AWAY FROM ME. Not one word! And he lady with grey hair just put her head down and started typing. Boy do I feel bad for those ladies working under him! Looks to me like he's running a sweat shop. What a shame for this man to lie to my face and tell me I'm not in their computer system?? That is not how you run a buisness. And of course I get a voicemail the next day, the supervisor calling me and "extending" the twenty percent offer as an apology for the confusion. Lol yea right! The staff can be friendly and very helpful, however, -5 stars to the management who don't recognize how many people walk away throughout the entire day for lack of being able to find an available associate. Separately I don't understand why Luxotica doesn't make available, even for order, the same models of sunglasses as also owned Sunglass Hut. For example, LensCrafters will only make available one color of a model that Sunglass Hut had 5 colors. Not stocking I get, not willing to sell I don't get. read more

My husband went in there at about 10am for glasses done in an hour. They said that his glasses won't be started until 2pm. So we decide to go back around 8pm because we had a party to go to at 4:30pm.He calls them at 1:30 asking not to put an "extra" on and they said to come down because his glasses will be done in an hour. Perfect, we have time then. We head down from Ramona, go in at 2:30pm and they need another half hour. We walk around the mall, go back in a half hour, got told that they needed another half an hour. Needless to say we were out with our glasses at 4:05pm. Definitely NOT an hour!!! That little box that they put their glasses in that says "one hour" should be changed to, "at some point today, not sure when". read more

After reading some of the reviews, I expected subpar service; however, the experience was anything but! Dr Rich was great - super informative, helpful, friendly, and really good at her job (I LOVE my new prescription!) Yohan (I think that was his name?) has a great, fun personality and despite the fact that my appointment was only an hour before closing time, I didn't at all feel rushed or like my presence was inconvenient. Save your time and money and go to a real optometrist. The doctor started the exam with using my old prescription. Didn't explain anything and seemed very rushed even though I was the last appointment of the day. Atlast (the lady working) over charged me $160 for special lenses when I had requested to use the most economical and basic. (didn't find that out till I returned it) Asked her to use my care credit card, but she no without even trying, saying, "oh i have tried my own exact same card and we don't accept it." I was immediately approved for a Lens Crafters card (the payment goes to the same place my care card payment goes). The lenses were ready in an hour but the prescription and glasses gave a fish bowl effect and I couldn't see. So I took them back. Asked for another exam and instead of doing an actual exam the "doctor" just measured my pupils and said that was the problem. It wasn't. Got refunded for the "special lenses" and had them redone. Ready in 7 days because they had to order basic lenses. Picked them up and still they are unusable. the 90 day unconditional return only applies to the original work, When i picked them up the lab tech that gave me my glasses said that i get another 90 days, but that wasn't true. So thanks for the useless glasses, the new card and the new bill. read more

I came in to make an appointment for an eye exam and was scheduled for the following day at 5pm. Upon arriving for my scheduled exam I was told there was one person ahead of me but the I can take a look at frames while I wait. After 30 minutes, a man sat with me and took down my medical history and since I had no insurance, only a AAA discount, the cost would be $95. He then left and told me the doctor was still busy. Another 15 minutes went by, I saw the doctor come out from a room (not the examination room), look towards me sitting in the waiting area and then just sign and roll his head in a circular motion. He then went to the optical lab and started working on glasses. Now it has been just short of an hour after my scheduled appointment. At this point I told one worker that I have waited 1 hour and I am canceling. Her only response was "OK" They have lost a customer for this location and all other Lens Crafters for wasting my time. read more

After making my second visit to them..... I wasn't impressed! The 1st time I came in to have an eye test and glasses the service was execptional! I came in to order my 2nd eye exam and glasses an it started off well. Until the lady that was helping me left while I was getting my eyes checked. Well over two hours went by before I even got my glasses. I had to get them my self from the counter! Because the sales people that were there were more interested about talking to each other than helping their custumers. they had been sitting there for 20min and I could Wait any longer for the guy to just come over and make sure they fit well. I came back withing a few days because there were visible chips at the bottom of one of the lenses and it had some minor light scratches. I knew this once I got home that night but I didnt want to go back to their incompetent service. But once at the beach and realizing I had paid so much for one lens that was *missing\chipped* I wasn't happy at all. I came back to convince them to remake that lens (which they couldn't see what was wrong w/ it) and they even made the remark that maybe I had scratched them at the beach. I was ready to take money back!!! But they realized what I was gonna ask for next (my money back) so they remade and replaced that bad lens. And again I had to wait two hours to get one lens made! All I wanted was a pair of prescription glasses. What I got was dramma and I spent over $500 dollars at their store. I it helps don't go over to this store on the weekends! they seem to have all their morons working the weekend shift! Oh, and in the process of them cleaning the lens that was chipped they scratch it even more!!! Ha! Can you believe it ???!!!!! read more

The staff are pleasant enough, but totally unhelpful. I ordered a pair of frames at another store and needed LensCrafters to send over my prescription to have the order completed. They would not respond to multiple requests from Warby Parker, so I called LensCrafters myself to request my prescription be faxed to WP. The women I spoke to was nice and told me she would have it over to them shortly. Days later WP notified me my prescription had still not been sent. I called LensCrafters again asking if I could get my persecution sent to me instead. They told me they could mail it or fax it but not email it (apparently it's 1985 still at LensCrafters). Even though I live a 30 minute drive from the store, I drive over that afternoon to collect it in person, since neither my office or home has a fax machine and I no couldn't trust them to actually send it. Silver lining is I never have to step in this store ever again. read more

A few days before I made a appointment because I haven't gotten an eye exam in over 4 years and my current glasses were scratched, had weird frames, and weren't even the right prescription anymore. I was grateful they had the exact day and time i wanted! When I walked in they greeted me right away and I waited no time at all to get started! Sammi, the eyewear consultant, was helping my mom and I most of the time. She was GREAT! Seriously, she is the definition of customer service at its finest. She even helped me pick out a frame and gave me her honest opinion for everything (we're pretty much bff's now). The eye doctor (I forgot his name but he is the main one) was amazing as well. They both made me feel so comfortable. The glasses and frames I purchased were a little pricey but hey..you get what you pay for! read more
