Not sure why such hate for this place. Everyone was extremely nice. Only thing reassured after visit is I definitely don't like contacts.

The lady that works at the front desk is extremely nice and accommodating when you have changes to your schedule or questions. Dr. Eland it's especially homework from me for not trying to push too hard towards the glasses/contacts that they sell as opposed to filling prescriptions elsewhere. This is not a thing I would've thought of except for the last optometrist I went to before Berthoud Vision was all about the upsell, and not so much about my actual vision. The office is also newer, and the location is quiet .

The exam I had from an ophthalmologist in Aurora last year doesn't meet the "within six months" requirement; and, since I'm not fond of driving on I-25 (especially in the Denver area), I wanted to find someone closer to home. Long story short: I won't be driving to Aurora anymore. Dr. Pratt and his staff are amazing. Everyone is friendly, courteous, flexible, and professional. Dr. Pratt's "bedside manner" is particularly outstanding. He took time to ask questions; didn't rush the examination; and explained each procedure before starting it. He also gave me an option to "cut [him] off" if I was "bored or not interested." That didn't happen! When he showed me the images of the inside of my eyes and clearly explained the "why" of things, it was FASCINATING.

I was impressed right away just walking. I appreciated the positive attitudes of all the employees. Sonya and Cindy greet you at the front desk and it's refreshing to be around people that enjoy their job. The office space is spacious, clean and relaxing. Julio was very helpful in sharing contact options and helping me understand this new approach. Dr. Atencio was very thorough and got me started with samples in no time. I want to recognize the optometric technician or assistant who completed the initial testing before the doctor visit. I do not remember her name, but she was very kind, patient, and helpful throughout the process. She made the initial part of the visit a positive experience. The optometrist herself was professional. She listened to my concerns regarding my son's ongoing vision issues, and when she realized he was having difficulty completing certain parts of the exam because his eyes were watering severely, she recommended that he see a specialist for further evaluation. I appreciated her honesty and willingness to recognize when additional expertise was needed. However, my experience with the front desk and optical department was disappointing. I was contacted by the office prior to the appointment and was asked whether we had medical insurance. I explained that we only had vision insurance. When we arrived, I was asked the same question several additional times. I had already provided the answer over the phone and again in person, so I did not understand why the question continued to be repeated, as if medical insurance would appear out of thin air since she kept bringing it up. It made me uncomfortable, especially since the discussion happened around other people in the lobby area. Just ignorant and loud. If additional information was needed, it could have been handled more discreetly and professionally. The front desk representative needs additional training on communication, customer service, and professional decorum. I was also given different estimates regarding possible costs, which was confusing since it came from the front desk representative who was not conducting the exam. I understand that costs can vary depending on what services are needed, but the communication could have been clearer. The optometrist handled this part appropriately later in the appointment by explaining the situation based on what she was able to evaluate. After the appointment, I was directed to the optical department. I explained that I was only interested in seeing basic frame options and that I was not looking for anything extravagant. We reviewed the vision benefit allowance, but afterward I was shown frames that cost nearly $300. I did not understand the purpose of reviewing my benefit and my needs only to be directed toward options that were far outside that range. I would have preferred being shown options that matched the stated benefit and my request for something basic. I ultimately requested the prescription so I could look elsewhere for frames. I appreciate the optometrist's recommendation for further evaluation, but based on my overall experience with the front desk and optical department, I will not be returning.

Negative 200 stars is still too many for this scummy practice…read more We have asked them to lose our phone numbers and our physical address and stop sending all kinds of junk to all of those. I have now asked a total of seven times, and they sent yet another postcard, received today. My last call, I got some tool at the front desk, who had an attitude and no intention to help and who hung up on me at the end of the call.... I definitely was assertive (bc they seem to refuse to leave us alone), but definitely was not rude nor did I use any sort of bad language. My take on this is..... They know are a horrible company and yet they keep doing all the stuff that makes people angry at them. Do yourself a favor and never set a foot in their door.... if you do, you will regret it for a long, long time. I am still not rid of them, and I am considering reporting them to the FCC as well as the attorney general.

I explained why I thought I needed a recheck, but she responded with a horrible, condescending attitude. I was shocked by what she said and how she said it. Ultimately, I had LensCrafters fill my prescription because I wanted a different frame than what was available at the office. Since I was unhappy with the prescription, not the glasses themselves, I decided to return to Dr. Hulme, who performed my initial examination for his thoughts. Nikki, gave me every reason not to return. Her absolutely poor attitude toward me as a customer was completely uncalled for. She argued with me as to why I can't focus or read with my current prescription lenses and told me to go back to LensCrafters if I wasn't happy. After much back and forth, she ended the call by hanging up on me. I will not be returning to Dr. Hulme's practice and will tell anyone I can to do the same. I hope this helps with your decision-making in choosing an eye doctor. I was and am completely disappointed with this practice. I will continue to use another optometrist from now on. It's not a good look to have so many 1 star reviews. Keep that in mind.
