Hits: - Extremely good customer service. The GM helped me out with preliminary stuff, and the doctor was very friendly and informative. They stressed that I get my eyes dilated, which I passed on since I was trying not to break the bank. - Payment plan! - In and out within an hour, including exam. - This place is clean. So clean I felt dirty and gross and alien. Misses: - They don't have a lab, so same-day glasses ain't happenin'. That was the other reason I went to this one, but it's my own fault I didn't call ahead to confirm this. - I came in here with around $300 to spend, walked out spending $400, including $50 for the exam (which is fair). Unlike America's Best, this Lenscrafters carries almost all designer frames, costing an average of $150, and I didn't see one pair for less than $90. They were having a 30% off sale on everything in the store, which I couldn't decide was a plus or an insult. Maybe I haven't bought glasses in awhile, but I'm pretty sure I could have saved a hundred bucks going to America's Best. Sorry, I don't want designer frames. I just want something that doesn't look like shit that helps me see. But if you're all about some designer frames, they pretty much have every big name-made frames I've ever heard of. Go nuts. - Luckily they had a payment plan, but whoever entered my address into their records entered it very, very wrong (I assumed it transferred automatically from when I made the appointment online, but I guess not!), like wrong street and wrong zip code, and the guy didn't verify the information with me before he submitted the application to the payment plan company. So now I have to log into the payment plan website (after 48 hours) on my own time and change it to make sure I get the bill. I'm not that upset about it, but still, COME ON. Luckily the GM sat there and called the payment plan company to figure out exactly what I needed to do to get this corrected. This place doesn't have an on-site lab, so you have to go back to get your glasses in a few days or weeks. So that's why I'm giving this 2 stars. I didn't know that there existed LensCrafters without on-site labs, so I was very sad to get all the way down here to find that out when it was too late to go to another location - I'm not about to sign up for another required trip out of my way. Since I don't have a car and it's cold outside now, every trip out of my house is precious and must be used wisely. This was a big waste of time and being cold and made me feel sad. I finally went to have my eyes checked after 4 years and the doctors here were very helpful. They have later hours during the week (til 6pm) and i went in on a Saturday. Very convenient! The selection of frames is pretty good, at least i found a cute pair. The staff is very helpful, one employee even suggested a cute pair because they were less expensive! The turn-around for my frames has been within 4-5 days, since they do not have a lab on-site. But when i needed to walk-in and have my prescription changed they were able to help me out without an appointment. Pricing was reasonable, but i do have insurance that covered much of the cost. read more

Came to this location at 7:30pm on Tuesday 4/19 and it was closed. My sons glasses needed repaired. He broke them right before we left on our vacation. This location was suppose to be open til 8pm. Highly disappointed at the lack of customer service. I tried calling before going to this location with no answer. Great experience at the eye doctor today. The optometrist diagnosed a cyst and prescribed an ointment...and they took me within 2 hours of calling. Also, she recommmended a great way to put a warm compress on the eye which was a lot better than a former opthamologist id seen which cost 4 times as much for a checkup. Just picked up my glasses here yesterday. This is my second time buying glasses/sunglasses here. They're supposed to call you and tell you the glasses are done; we actually had to call in and see, both times. Outside of that, was very happy. The female optometrist here is fantastic (I wish I could remember her name!). She was very patient helping fit me with contacts after a tragic accident left my glasses swimming with the fishes (literally). It isn't easy finding contacts for someone so terribly nearsighted as me who ALSO has an astigmatism and dry eyes. But she worked to find just the right pair and to make sure they fight just right, even if it took several appointments. Unfortunately, the rest of the staff here leaves something to be desired. During my first appointment, the guy who did the preliminary tests mumbled and didn't give the full instructions, and acted like I was an idiot when I didn't understand what he wanted me to do. I actually had to request the optometrist to ignore some of my tests as they hadn't been done correctly. To be honest, let me put this frankly - The staff primarily consists of bitchy men. They ignored me, talked smack about other customers and staff while I was there, and overall seemed to be upset that they had to wait on me. Roughly 80% of my interact with the male staff there was terrible. Female staff was fine. Wish they could give a lesson to the men in customer service. Prices were expensive, but eyecare stuff is expensive in general. They had a decent sale on my contacts, but it was still $200 for a year's worth. Ouch. read more

Worst LensCrafters experience ever! Either I've been spoiled by past experiences (at Lakeview and suburban locations) or this location was sub-par. I think it's the latter. From the moment we walked in, it was clear they hadn't looked up any of our info from the previous location even though I'd expressly asked if that would happen before our first appointment here (and was assured the info was all shared/easy to obtain). It took over an hour-and-a-half for two simple exams (there were no other customers in line, our prescriptions didn't change and we didn't need new frames). Also seemed like none of the staff wanted to be there on a Saturday. With the exception of one person who helped reshape my glasses, everyone seemed put out when they had to interact with us, were inefficient, and made us feel like an overall inconvenience. The last straw was when they tried to charge us for a contact lens exam we didn't get (and were a little exasperated when I asked to see the itemized bill before signing--good thing I did). What an unpleasant experience. Will not be back and do NOT recommend. **weekday amendment: just went by on a Monday because I had to pick up my glasses and had much more normal pleasant and effective service. Small store so it gets busy easily. I had to wait a very long time to get someone to help me. I needed a 2nd opinion on frames, and because I am so blind without glasses, I wanted their special new service where they take pictures of you with different frames so you can see how you look. I waited a good half hour before sitting in front of a mirror and taking pics with my phone. My pictures weren't very great quality, but it was more helpful than the staff was (when I was finally assisted). The girl tried really hard to upsell me into $200+ frames, but I stuck with the much cheaper ones I picked out on my own using my iPhone pictures not their fancy picture service. LensCrafters is consistent. I know they will always try to sell me expensive/overpriced lenses, frames, warranties, etc, but I also know I don't have to buy them. They always have a good selection of frames and their prices for everything else (exams and such) are the same as Target. read more

The staff in front were also very welcoming and offered to assist with choosing my frames. Overall, it was a very quick and pleasant experience. Dr. Caymen was great. They offer a very thorough eye exam that can help predict other diseases. I had tried contacts the previous year, but they were so uncomfortable I couldn't wear them. Dr. Caymen helped me find a pair that fit my eyes much better and now I can even forget they're in my eyes. The only downsides are that you can't get glasses the same day at this location and the price for lenses and the eye exam are pretty high. read more

Had a very thorough vision test which detected errors made by a previous test (done by america's best) which showed my vision was almost twice as bad as what my original prescription was for. Came to this LensCrafters after reading the existing, glowing review. These guys were amazing throughout the whole process. The store is clean and welcoming, and the staff is courteous and knowledgable. Rick, the doctor's assistant, gave me my pre-test and was very understanding about my payment situation. He was also incredibly enthusiastic about their new scanning machine, and encouraged me to come back and try it out! (The new machine takes a 3D picture of the eye, and is apparently top-of-the-line. I'd never heard of it before, but it was quite impressive.) Dr. Louis (or Lewis? I apologize for not checking closer) was incredibly courteous and offered me a variety of options for glasses or even contacts if I wanted them in the future. The staff provided me with a hard copy of my prescription and even did some tests and measurements for free to make it easier for me to order glasses off the internet if I so chose! The selection of glasses seemed decent (I wasn't in that market that day) and they even had a clearance section with some cool frames on sale. Rick assured me the collection changes often, and they also tend to have sales on lenses, which could theoretically bring the cost of a new, professional, stylish pair of glasses, ready to go for less than $200, even without insurance! Overall, I could not be happier with my experience. They're right off the Red Line (literally one block away) so if you're headed that way, stop off for the convenience, stay for...everything else. An insurance free eye-exam (prescription only, no health) was $49. A full exam including the new scanner with a complete health checkup is only $99. read more

So usually I do not write reviews on Yelp unless I feel compelled to do so. Today was one of those rare instances. I strolled into my local LensCrafters a couple of weeks ago and was looking to have an eye exam and purchase new contacts and glasses. I was able to get in quickly for an exam and the optometrist was very friendly and knowledgeable. After having my prescription checked I proceeded to buy contacts and glasses. They told me that glasses and contacts would take 7-10 days, the contacts came within 5 days. However, the lenses for my glasses came in about 10 days later, and the lab cut one of the lenses too small and it was going to take another 7-10 days to get another lens cut to the correct size (I understand this was the lab's fault and no fault of LensCrafters). But with one lens correctly cut to fit into the frame, I was able to see how the lenses would look paired with the frame. Unfortunately, because of my powerful prescription I thought that the frame was too thin for the lens. I knew my lenses were going to be big, but the thin frame only insinuated the bulkiness of the lenses. After looking around at other frames, and not really seeing anything that I liked, I decided to return the frames and the lenses, a return of over $500.00. The manager, I believe her name was Diana, returned my purchase with no questions asked and was extremely friendly about the matter. I am dissapointed that the frames and my lenses didn't turn out how I wanted, and maybe my expectations were unrealistic as my prescription is very strong, but I am very grateful that I was able to return the frames and the lenses. read more

I went for an eye exam and the doctor gave me trial contacts that worked GREAT, like never before at any other optometrist. Then, when I ordered contacts, they weren't the same ones. I tried over and over for them to order the proper contacts, but it took so long to arrive. Then, when I went in for a follow-up they tried charging me a $25 office fee only after I confirmed on the phone that this was a follow-up for a fitting. TERRIBLE service and completely unorganized office. The doctors are great, but there's no coordination among the office support staff. Worse customer service I have ever experienced. Did a return on Feb 8 and now on business day 11 (Feb 22)with the money still not returned. My suggestion is to avoid this company. I was told it would be 3-5 business days for the return. Their return policy is 'not 100% satisfied, you can return within 30 days of purchase with original receipt.' I did all of this and nothing. I'd been putting off getting my eyes examined cuz I knew new glasses would be expensive, and maybe even more because I hate those tests. This? or This? This? or This? They look so similar; I can't tell which one is clearer! Finally I couldn't put it off any longer and I made an appointment at this store. Went early to look at frames and even then, they welcomed me in and treated me like a friend. They talked to me about what I was looking for and made some good suggestions, without ever being pushy. The eye exam was very thorough and VERY high-tech. No need to do that frustrating This? or This? stuff. Love technology! Everyone in this store was so great, especially the doc and Anna. They made me feel like family and put me completely at ease. Plus they were fun and very nice;) Anna ultimately made the suggestion for the frames I chose. I never would have picked them off the wall, but they were exactly right and she knew! That's a real art. These people are wonderful; you will love having your eyes taken care of here. I dont know where to begin.. To start 5 stars to the doctor in terms of personality and bed side manner! She is the best I've had! But..Got the wrong trials The staff is super friendly and nice. But they charge 20% over true market value for contacts. So whatever you do order them elsewhere. Don't get the credit card that they offer its not worth the drama of jumping through hoops trying to return or exchange anything. Phone manners are hideous at best. You can't tell a customer about a $200 rebate on lenses and then say but you can't have that offer because it doesn't start till April. Then why did you even mention it? Or..Say you will price match and when you do you really dont because the insurance is paying part of it. Another example..Don't complain about eating the cost after willingly trying to price match. *I ended up returning everything. *Disclaimer $85.50 of a 90 supply verse over $100. I think not! This LensCrafters is super unprofessional. I called last Friday to pick up a trial contact lens for my right eye. Some woman answered the phone laughing, which was super unprofessional right from the start. She put me on hold and the call dropped. I called back and she gave me an attitude saying the call didn't drop and that I hung up. Whatever. So then she puts me on hold again to tell me that there's no lens for me to pick up, even though I spoke with the Doctor the day before to pick up lenses. Then she asks me what my prescription is, which I find weird since they are an eye clinic and should already have my info on file. I wasn't at home so I told her that I didn't have my prescription with me. So she checks the system and tells me my last prescription with them was in 2005, which is complete bull because I've been going there every year for the past 4 years or so. She then tells me that she would have to check my file and that it would take a while. She also said she was super busy so she wouldn't get to it til later and would have to call me back. I agreed and stressed I needed my contacts by that day. It's been almost a week and still haven't received a phone call about my lenses. Safe to say they've just lost my business. read more

I had a real positive experience here. I had to get new glasses because my old ones decided to commit suicide. This happened Saturday night and I thought I would be with out glasses for a while. But I called up Lenscrafters and they booked me an eye appointment for Sunday morning. I was surprised a doctor would be working on Sunday but I guess this isn't the 1900s any more. When I arrived they set me up for the usual eye tests and I saw the doctor immediately. She was very nice and helped me through the process of getting my prescription right (number 1 or number 2). Once that was done I was helped by one of the salesmen picking a pair of glasses. He was great help and understood my needs and sarcasm. I needed the glasses ASAP and they said it would be ready by the next day, which I didn't believe. But they were no liars and I got my glasses just in time. Really a great friendly place. I have to give it 5 stars because of Dr. Bolyard. I've never had a checkup that felt so thorough. I actually felt as though A my new prescription actually fit my current needs, and B that there was concern for how my new contacts would actually fit. I've worn glasses since I was 7 and have never felt as safe with the care given to my eyes as I was with this one examination. Have I been missing something? The thoroughness of the experience left me feeling satisfied that I won't be upset that my new prescription is lacking and that I can voice a concern I might have and it will be listened to because she actually cared about the health of my eyes. Really great experience at this location. The two ladies working greeted me as soon as I walked through the door and were so nice and cordial the whole time I was there. Dr. Said was also excellent. I felt like the exam was very thorough and I am very comfortable with the outcome. She made sure I understood everything and repeatedly asked me if I had any questions about what we talked about. Dr. Said even checked me out and ordered my lenses as the other employees were with other patients, so I did not have to wait for them to be done. I was expecting their prices to be higher because they are a national chain but I feel I got a good value. The exam itself was a little more than I am used to paying but I'm also coming from a different part of the state where the cost of living is cheaper. Highly recommend! read more

If I were to write this review based solely on my experience with the Optometrist, Dr Khurana, then it would be five stars. She was phenomenal-the consummate professional. However, the level of customer service deteriorated once I expressed my displeasure over their failure to deliver progressive bifocal lenses (after three separate visits ). Apparently, these people have no sense of the importance of a customer's Time! The lenses that were supposedly custom-fit for my eyes were horribly blurred when I tried them on. When I complained aloud there was NO apology offered and the staff behaved as though it was my issue. Seriously? I would appreciate the Lenscrafters management explaining to their staff that once expectations are created, it is incumbent upon everyone on the team to follow through with a consistent level of service and concern for their customer. Was really very impressed with both the doctor and staff. My only complaint is that I was given lens upgrade in my prescription sunglasses that I did not ask for nor would I have agreed to as I cannot wear polarized lenses (they make me dizzy and I cannot see clearly through them; it's a rare occurrence in a percentage of the population) and they wouldn't adjust it over the phone even day of. I have a very tight schedule packed with travel, so it took me a month to go in and reorder the lenses, and now I haven't had a chance to pick up my glasses in the last couple months (my schedule doesn't work with their hours and glasses need adjusting so I have to pick them up personally). Otherwise, I was impressed with the technology available and the personal attention to detail, to include diagnosis of a "freckle" behind my eye that needs monitoring for malignancy. My old eye doctor didn't have the imaging technology to catch that, so on that alone I will be back. But I thought the doctor was very kind and personable. read more

Alright so I have NEVER worn glasses before. Seven (to ten? hehe) years after my last exam, I figured it was time to get a little checkup. Not only was the doctor (I forget his name- young man) very professional, thorough, and friendly, but the staff was excellent! I worked with a lovely woman named Cynthia who was just about the most friendly and pleasant person I have ever worked with. I was just about shaking during the pre-examination (the puffs to the eye were the worst) but she was fantastic through the whole thing. I already had a current prescription so all I needed was frames and lenses for nighttime distance and sunglasses. The person who assisted me was helpful and worked hard to figure out the best deal -- either the in-store special or the discounts provided by my insurer. The process of ordering seems a bit endless and the technician was not particularly proficient in using their equipment. The sunglasses arrived with defective lenses, which were not detected prior to my coming in for pickup -- so quality control is not so good either at their plant or in store. I had to point the problem out. The lenses (and frame) were re-ordered and the lenses fit the frame much better the second time, although the staff could not find them for about 15 minutes. They actually did not believe that I had an order to pick up and were a bit terse. No one remembered me although I had been there for a total of at least 2 hours over the previous two weeks. The frames were clearly crooked and sat cockeyed on my face. The optician didn't believe this was much of a problem and worked briefly to correct the crookedness to no avail. She said she did not see the crookedness. Not only are the temples splayed unevenly, they sit unevenly on the countertop both right side up and upside down. Looking in the mirror the right side of the glasses ride about 1/2" higher than the left. As a result they do not give satisfactory vision. My next step is to try and fix the problem myself with a protected pliers of some kind. read more

The frame selection at this location is limited but it works in their favor. The brands and styles they carry are trendy and there is definitely less "clutter" to sort through so finding the perfect pair (with Rick's help - THANKS Rick!.) was extremely easy. Scheduling an appointment was a breeze, street parking is available and they also offer free parking in the lot behind the store. Dr. Lewis was very thorough and took his time explaining what tests were being done and why. read more
