I had high hopes and expectations for receiving new eyeglasses and decided on choosing the 510 6th Avenue location, in Manhattan, as I'm always in this area often. The process was typically for me as I always had challenge of finding particular frames that meet my expectations, aesthetic, and conceal my high index prescription. As a professional in Healthcare I have several meetings, training sessions, and live a pretty active lifestyle. The style of coke bottle glasses is not it. My current frames right now which are the Polo Ralph Lauren Kids 8518 do not have the lenses poking out in the front and extending out so far behind the frame making the glasses look pregnant with a bbl. I'm not even trying to be funny. I know I have high myopia and out of wearing glasses for over 30 years, you mean to tell me there's no further improvements or advancements with high index lenses quality. These lenses were produced with the lowest quality possible as if I can't afford proper looking glasses with or without insurance. These glasses were rushed and were not properly made or crafted. I've had previous pairs in the past that did not make me feel self-conscious or insecure about my vision. These glasses definitely did not make me feel like they were a second set of skin on my face. Another issue I'm noticing with LensCrafters itself is the lack of small petite frames (children's) ranging from a 46-47 mm in size. I don't care what glasses frame styles are trending right now those with high prescriptions cannot utilize bigger frames, period. Having material from the lenses poke out in the front and the back should be illegal as it can impair and distort peripheral vision and can impact eyesight from improving and actually making it worse, which is detrimental to those with high myopia. Sales associates are somewhat helpful but there needs to be more expert training in servicing customers with high myopia as the condition is nothing of the customers fault with fewer available options to look stylish along with having terrible vision. Not everyone wants to wear contacts or go under the knife with risky eye surgery and procedures. This is a big disadvantage, disservice, and borderline discriminatory client practices against individuals with high myopia. We want top of the line quality and care just like anyone else with less impactful vision concerns. We want to be seen, heard, and treated with tasteful clientele expertise like other customers with lower prescriptions. Just because high myopia customers have thicker lenses doesn't mean we have to take any old pair of glasses and just write it off that we have bad vision and there's nothing can be done. LensCrafters is a big top of the line optical company, that should be able to fulfill the needs of all clients those with high and low prescriptions. read more

Jasmine is so good that when I was picking up my new glasses, a lady arrived from way uptown, specifically to consult with Jasmine. She sincerely want the best for every customer, and she has the skills to provide that. The rest of the staff is also very helpful, and I was glad I had selected this LensCrafters to get my new glasses. I came in with a frame to have yellowish/amber lenses put in. They did not have any sample lenses to show me except for an online page the sales girl barely manage to find. My instructions were to make them darker than what they were showing me. They came back with a light yellow tint which was far from what I wanted. "Sorry but we can't go any darker." I had them change the lenses to a green tint... again no sample lenses. The girl showed me a pair of Ray Bans with medium tint green lenses. Fine. I can deal with that. EXCEPT that the lenses came back way too dark... AND they're not green!!! WTF?!!! What a waste of time and money... The sales people are nice enough, but that's not what I came in for. I'm just going to have to go somewhere else, a shop with sample lenses, and get what I'm paying for. I'm not at all a happy camper... I don't recommend LensCrafter. read more

I had the worst experience with this store and this company! STAY AWAY from LC and this store especially. I took a pair of designer frames I had just bought from a department store to this store for them to put lenses. They said it takes 2 weeks, then they said it's taking longer, after a month they said THEY'VE LOST MY FRAMES!!!!! They offer to reimburse me if I bring the receipt from the place I bought them and it will take 2 weeks for me to get the check. I call them after 17 days, manager says accounting has sent the check but it will take 2 to 3 weeks for me to get in mail!!! A mail in US takes 3 weeks? After all this??? It's now been 2 months since I took my frames to LC, not only they didn't provide the service I paid for but they lost my frames and I still haven't got my money back! Through this whole process they were so rude and unapologetic. After having wasted my time and money for so long they can't issue a check in 2022!!! Obviously someone in the store or the lab has stolen my frames, the store manager has been BSing me all this time and today she says it takes 2 to 3 weeks for me to get a check in mail, like I'm calling from a different planet! Worst Lenscrafters customer service I ever experienced. Just left the store at 2:30pm on Wednesday June 21st, 2023. Brought my glasses in for repair because I lost a screw on my lenscrafters prescription eyewear. Very passive aggressive black woman at the counter told me I would have to remove the paper clip I put through the hole so I could use them. I said no problem, can you please give me a screw driver or pliers so I could remove it? Nope. She tossed a paper clip at me like that was going to be helpful. She refused to give me something to remove the clip on my glasses. I had to walk out without getting any help. Felt very racial. My advice is to avoid this location. read more

I decided that I would go to LensCrafters after seeing all of their Clarifeye commercials. I usually only let my vision therapist check my eyes, but my insurance would not cover an exam with my vision therapist. An electronically checked prescription through LensCrafters' Clarifeye sounded like it would be free of human error and just as good as an exam from my vision therapist. I asked if they would be able to test my eyes accurately despite my convergence insufficiency, and I was assured that Dr. Suen was experienced with this. I bought a cute pair of fairly-priced Tiffany glasses in September and added on the warranty. I am giving 2 stars for the great price on the frames. Everything went downhill from here. By December, I had not adjusted to my glasses. I was feeling dizzy and even when I took off my glasses, the floor was moving hours later. These glasses were REALLY messing with my vision! I booked an appointment with my vision therapist, which I couldn't get until March. After 3 appointments (March, April, June), she confirmed that my glasses were not measured well. She gave me a copy of my correct prescription. I brought this prescription to LensCrafters and explained the story, bringing the 12 pages of tests my vision therapist ran for each appointment. I requested that they change the lenses. Lenscrafters claimed that my eyes must have changed, and that they would not replace the lenses at their expense. I really like my frames, so I was prepared to PAY for new lenses provided that they gave me some kind of a deal. Surprisingly, no promotion was offered at all, and they did not even try to convince me to pay full price to replace the lenses! They cleaned my glasses to help me see better (I told them there was no point because I cannot wear them, as they make me dizzy), and sent me on my way. I'm really frustrated that LensCrafters' Clarifeye system was so inaccurate AND that LensCrafters did nothing to try to rectify the situation, including helping me to pay to replace the lenses. I will bring them elsewhere to replace the lenses, but I will definitely not return to any LensCrafters. Don't be fooled- Clarifeye is inaccurate, and LensCrafters will not acknowledge any errors in your prescription, nor do they value your business when you're willing to be a paying customer. read more

I had a fine experience with the eye doctor; but the people at the front are aggressive. The girl I was dealing with kept trying to sell me lenses I didn't want. From the start I said I just wanted regular lenses, then she says oh its not going to be more $ (which it was). We finally get to the end and she says she had the wrong price and switched it back to the more expensive option. When I get to the front and see the final price I say thats too expensive, then she tries to go back to the original option I chose ( and I'm just like wtf, that's what I said I wanted at first, NO EXTRAS). So I just left,I don't like being swindled. My eye exam was expensive enough as it wasn't covered by my insurance. ( I'm guessing they get some kind of bonus for upsetting certain lenses.) read more

[The Playbook: Bait & Switch] Wow, this was a disappointing one, and for the benefit of the Lenscrafters brand name I pray it does not happen to many others. The doctor appointment itself was fine, except for them forgetting to take some eye photos that I was later told to come back for. I would rate a 3 then for the inconvenience of multiple doctor visits for a standard eye exam. The real issues came from contacts. Issue 1: Pricing. You may be surprised to learn that they CHARGE MORE in store than the online site. Despite being guaranteed by the 'manager' jonathan that they could price match their website amount, they never issued the credit. A different 'manager' danielle later explained that they are unable to price match, despite acknowledging the previous promise. Customer may always be right, but apparently does not benefit from it. Issue 2: Communication. After contacts were ordered and guaranteed within 3-4 business days, a week and a half later they never arrived. Calling them proved interesting. They seemed to have 'forgotten' to call to explain that the contacts had gone on backorder (to them only apparently) and that some of the order (~6 months worth) was in a warehouse UNABLE TO SHIP without the remaining boxes (the other 6 months). Well over a month before receiving the completed order. The interesting thing here is that timing was the only reason to use these guys over the drastically cheaper walgreens (or their slightly cheaper website). I would be very very cautious of their bait and switch. When you cannot rely on a store's managers to be truthful I think the brand starts to break down. read more

The worst shopping experience I've ever had! I ordered contact lenses through them 2 years ago. Because of my business trip, I wasn't able to go and pick up. They promised to ship it to me, NEVER HAPPENED! When I called to check the status a few weeks later, one of the staff told me that they already sent it back to the warehouse. WTF?! The nightmare just started. I asked them to reorder it for me, for FOUR times! Every time their staff told me they would place the order and call me once it arrives. Nobody ever called me or followed up. HOW UNPROFESSIONAL THESE PEOPLE ARE! Finally I called again, and now the manager LOCHAN said that I have to reorder the lenses with new prescription since the old one has expired. Of course it's expired! Had a lovely appointment with Dr. Regnault for my first pair of eyeglasses. I didn't have to wait at all (I had an appointment, not a walk-in). The paperwork was minimal. Dr. Regnault was patient and sweet and very informative. I didn't feel rushed or pressured to buy anything at all. The exam cost just over $100 but it may be totally/partially reimbursed by my insurance (We'll see!) She did gently recommend I come back for an eye dilation test (which was included in the cost of my exam but I didn't have time for it right then) butI felt that was probably a wise suggestion and I will be taking her up on it! The sales associate who helped me browse for glasses was also sweet and helpful. I had a tremendous first visit to this LensCrafters. I made an easy appointment on time. I arrived ten minutes early, and after finishing up the paperwork, was immediately helped by one of the staff. He got me into the system (including absolutely NO drama about my insurance or pressure for up-charges) and took me straight back to start preliminary exams. I then waited for a few short minutes before my time with Dr. Nancy Suen. To a point - she was the absolute best optometrist I've ever been to. She was incredibly patient and thorough, explaining each step she was taking and answering all questions without making me feel rushed in any way. She has tremendous bedside manner and instilled nothing but confidence. Finally, I did not intend to buy any frames - I went strictly for the exam (in order to, frankly, purchase frames online). In my past experience, exam places can get very surly when you "use them" for just the exam. However, the staff simply asked me, "Do you want to buy frames today as well?" and after a simple, "Not today," they left the issue alone. Amazing! I would completely recommend this LensCrafters, and I'll definitely be trying to see Dr. Suen for my next yearly exam. read more

Just had an exam. Everything went well with Dr. Jeesun Ha (who was just filling in on a Sunday) was very sweet, pleasant and patient. The people out front were kind but didn't always know everything about eyes. There's some subtle pressure to add on stuff: retinal mapping, eyeglasses, contact lenses, etc. But it's not too bad. After an hour I walked out with eyeglass and contact Lense scrips for $55 using my AAA card discount (reg $79). From what I've read on here about glasses stores there are some bad experiences with pressure tactics, withholding scrips (against the law) and crummy exams. My brother had a mediocre experience at Cohen's but it was only $20. But I had a good day today, so maybe it's hit or miss. Just don't be afraid to be firm about what you want and don't want. read more

I recommend LensCrafters because they work to please the customer. After wearing my glasses for 4 days, I returned them because the frame was too huge for my small face and I had a bit of trouble with clarity. Roman diagnosed my problems: he removed the anti-glare thing from my lenses and re-adjusted the prescription, which was a bit too high. Roman was patient, gentle, respectful, and professional. Worse customer service experience of my life. I purchased contact lenses three weeks ago. They said they would be ready in three weeks. No one called me, so I called to check on their status. The person who picked up the phone (Nia) said that the contact lenses were not ready. I asked why they had not called me to let me know that they would be late. She said that it was because they were specialty lenses. I explained to her that I knew that (in fact, I had order those lenses from the same store before), but that they had made a promise to deliver in three weeks and they had not, so I was wondering why they had not contacted me to let me know, given that the lenses were paid in full. She replied that they were late because of the holidays. I asked, again, that if they were late, why was I not contacted. She went back to the original reason -- that they were specialty contacts. At no point in time could she inform me why I was not contacted. I asked her whether she understood that they had not delivered on their promised, and whether she would admit the mistake. She said I had not spoken to her personally, and that she would not apologize for someone else. I explained that they both work at the same company and store. She finally said she would check on the lens factory and call me back but that (and this is an exact quote) "they are very hard to get a hold of." She calls me back later to tell me that the lenses would not be ready until February -- ***two months*** after I had paid for them in full. I asked her why they did not check on the status of the lenses. She said that they did not know they would be late. I told her that is the reason why they would check -- because they were past due (again, after they had been paid in full). She offered me no solution, so I had to volunteer one: could maybe the doctor at her office offer me some temporary lenses? She said she had to check. She calls me back later (we have now spent several hours resolving a problem on lenses that I had paid in full and that no one at the store had bothered to deliver on time, or to notify me that they would be late). I asked for her full name and she said she would not give it. At no point in time did she apologize for the late lenses or for not checking on why they were late in the first place, or for not telling me anything about it during three whole weeks, or for not being able to deliver the lenses after two months of the time of order and full payment. I will never, never, never reward this business with a new purchase. Avoid at all costs. read more

Initially had a decent eexperence getting a last second eye exam only to find the new frames I purchased at a shop in LA were wayyyy off using that prescription. I couldn't even walk down the street without dying. Anyways I went to LC and told them. They remade the lenses for 278$ and turns out they were equally off. Finally they gave me another eye exam and redid my lenses and continued to make remarks like, "some people just can't handle a new astigmatism prescription" as if it's my fault that the glassses are useless. I kept telling them I was perfectly happy with my old glasses and old prescription. Anyway, they finally fixed it back to what my old eye glass prescriptionn has always been and now tell me, after a heated conversation, that they bc an only take 50$ off. WHY CANT YOU TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR ERROR???? IS IT MY FAULT YOUR PRESCRIPTION IS SO BAD I CANT EVEN WALK DOWN THE BLOCK??? My mother was visiting from out of town and her glasses broke- lost the screw. I had one of those kits but we couldn't get then right size screw. I called lenscrafters and told them the problem and we jumped into a cab, arriving at 7:30... They close at 8. They replaced the screw and even cleaned her lenses. My recent contact lens re-order is on backorder (my eyes are crazy - its probably some magical lens flown in from Jupiter...) They knew I was nearly out of lenses, so they called me to let me know they'd have a new trial pair ready for me to hold me over until my order was available. I'm reviewing the one at 510 6th ave near 14th street. That's the address listed, but the map shows another one and they're calling it the West Village. Long review ahead. I've been going to Lens Crafters for 15+ years and I've been to several locations and never felt compelled to write a review until now. I was here in the summer for an eye exam and the person who was administering the tests (Optomap etc) was complaining to me for a good few minutes about people wearing too much make-up. There was some make-up on the machine, obviously because somebody on staff failed to clean it. She used this as an excuse to shame women who wear a lot of make-up, which was really awkward/offensive and unprofessional to boot. I figured I wouldn't come back here but I dropped in on Wednesday because my contact was torn. I'm agoraphobic and I live in Brooklyn so it wouldn't make sense for me to order contacts from there as I'd need to get a ride there instead of having them mailed to my home. But I was in the neighborhood for another appt and I figured they could give me a loner. When I walked in, that same woman (unsure of her name but perceivably South Asian, early-mid twenties, long straight hair and glasses) practically ran over to me. I told her what I needed and she flat out said no. She said she could only give me a loner, if I purchase contacts from them. I was pretty taken aback since I've been using Lens Crafters for 15+ years and they've never let me walk out of there with a torn contact on. We all know it's harmful for your eyes. I told her that I was waiting for the contacts to arrive (package was lost apparently) and I even offered to *pay* for a loner. She said no and that in the past, I must've gotten loners from Lens Crafters who housed private doctors. That isn't the case. I've gotten them from several Lens Crafters over the years (15 years is a long time) and they weren't all private. I didn't have time to argue though. I was clear that she was in charge. Thing is, you actually lose nothing from giving somebody a single contact. It's not as though I wasn't seen by their doctor. I now recall how aggressive she was the first time I was there, about trying to get me to buy contacts. It was really awkward. It almost seemed like she was getting commission. Based on how fast she runs over when anyone comes in, I gather she's either a manager or acting as one (with or without an actual manager's knowledge). The gusto with which she said "no" to me was very strange for the situation, especially since she was transparent about the reason being because I didn't buy them from there. But the fact that I couldn't even pay for a loner? Obviously, I won't go back here. They turned me away in a medical emergency that they could've fixed quickly. They care more about making money than the health of my eyes. Five minutes later, I was on the phone with the next closest Lens Crafters and they said I could come by and get a loner, which I did. read more

This is the first review that I've written on Yelp, and because of the bad service, lies, and poor treatment that I received at LensCrafters, I felt compelled to write this review and share my story. My mom is 94 years old, lives in a wheelchair in Connecticut and needed new glasses. Lens Crafters was only too happy to take my $800 with the promise that they would call within a week or so to let me know that the glasses were ready. Some ten days later I called them and was told the glasses were in. When I got to the store I was told that only one pair was in and that they would call me when the other pair arrived. Two weeks after that I went to the store and was told that the system was down and no one could help me. I let them know that I was very unhappy and they PROMISED as soon as the system was up, they would give me a call so I could have an ETA. I called back a day later and was told that the glasses were in fact in the store. I drove an hour and a half to pick them up and when I arrived at the store, the manager apologized because the glasses were not ready. He then gave me a temporary pair and said he would personally call me when the glasses were in. A week later he called, but said that he was embarrassed because the lenses were in but the frames were no longer available. This store does not deserve to remain in business. They promised many times to call with information about an order and never once did. When I told the manager about this he was totally unconcerned. In New York there are many places to have glasses made up and fitted, you would be doing yourself a favor if you went elsewhere. read more

I came here to get my lenses exchanged because I hate transitions. I originally purchased at the Manhattan Mall location but the manager there, Shandle, was ridiculous. Refused to honor there return policy until the Regional Manager had to get involved. The Regional Manager apologized to me and told me I could go anywhere else. But I tried and two other spots refused me. This time when I came here I was prepared. When I entered they were really friendly complimenting my clothes, etc. Then I told them I wanted to do an exchange and that changed. They asked if I bought from there. I purposely gave them TMI. I told them no but the other store gave me so much trouble that the RM got involved and told me to go anywhere else and I shouldn't have a problem. I just knew if I didn't I would again be refused and I didn't want to deal with that again. So the gentleman that helped me said ok and processed the exchange without any worry. I just wish he was friendlier... like maybe even smiled?? But at this point I realize that the people at lenscrafters stores are only kind and friendly when you purchase, not when you return & exchange. Maybe I'm being harsh on this guy bc his natural demeanor may just be serious, but I'm so jaded by all the bad experiences I've had at the 3 other lenscrafters that I'm just saying how I feel. Dr. Nancy Suen is excellent. Dr. Miriam Lee is not. Dr. Lee is very impatient. I might go back to see Dr. Suen, but I'd avoid Dr. Lee, or I'd just go to another LensCrafters location. Alex, the store assistant, is approachable and helpful though. My glasses arrived much later than I was told. Be aware that just because your insurance through EyeMed indicates that this LensCrafters takes it, it would turn out that this optique would not accept the insurance. While I didn't find the salespeople too aggressively pushy for me to buy things I didn't want, I do feel that they would give up on providing me with more helpful service when I didn't want to take their suggestions. read more

I had such a great experience with Dr Nancy Suen and her assessment was thorough and her bedside-manner was unbelievably kind. She made me feel super comfortable throughout. When I went back to pick out a pair of glasses, an assistant on the floor looked at my insurance to see what they cover. As a South African who just moved to New York and who isn't quote familiar with the ways of American insurance, I was greeted with a cold and flippant attitude. She told me that my insurance couldn't nearly cover my basic needs (I have a really bad eye reading) and that I would my copay would literally be hundreds of dollars. I felt like a failure walking out of this store. Fast forward a few days later, and my insurance assures me that the assistant was in the wrong and that my insurance would actually cover my specific lenses and frames. A bittersweet visit, but I would just go back for my annual checkup with Dr Suen. read more

Dr. Nancy Suen is THE BEST!!! Do not let that young face fool you, she is great at her job-- so friendly, knowledgeable, and she was the first doctor to explain why contact lenses don't perform and fit as well as they did only a few years ago. The first pair of contact lenses she tried on me didn't work very well. When I returned, she gave me another pair which feel comfortable and are a great improvement over the prescription given to me by a different optician. This place is great for eye exams and has a great eye glass selection as well! I have been seeing Dr. Regnault for a few years. She is very sweet, and super thorough. She really cares about her patients. I hadn't been to see her in 15 months and she remembered me, which was nice! The girls who help her are also very nice and thorough. Well for one, they snapped my frames in half while I was waiting for them to get fitted with new lenses. They nicely offered to replace them with any frames in the store. Unfortunately, those frames cost me $500 and nothing in that store was above $250 that didn't look like crap. While I did pay for my eye exam and the lenses but got new frames for free, I really should of just gotten that entire thing for free. read more
