Dr Taylor is wonderful and curative. I have autoimmune that affects my entire musculoskeletal…read moresystem and he not only corrects the significant issues but keeps me on track. I feel very safe in his hands! Extremely personable as well.

This was my experience with Shawn R. Taylor, DC. ((603)447-1131, 486 White Mountain Hwy, Conway, NH…read more03818). I had seen Dr. Taylor 7/6/23 for a routine adjustment coming in with what I thought was SI pain. I came in this date because I was scheduled to go on a mountaineering wilderness trip in the high Sierras of California for 10 days (50 miles backpacking summiting Mt. Whitney the highest mountain in the contiguous United States) flying out 7/10/23 and wanted to get this issue past me. My experience is that Dr. Taylor is extremely heavy handed. I am 60 years old, 5'4" and 117lbs. Durring the side laying adjustment he heavily twisted me with significant force two times (he is a big man and it felt as if he was jumping heavily on my body to twist my back). Directly after this I felt a pain in my lower abdomen, as if I were "punched in the stomach". I trusted what Dr. Taylor was doing and did not make a fuss about it. I assumed the pain would go away. It ended up persisting for a month. I have been to a number of chiropractors over my lifetime and this unnecessary heavyhandedness is not someting that I have experienced before. Past providers appear to wait until the patient is ready (not guarded) before proceeding. Dr. Taylor appears to push through this muscle guardedness and therefore harmed me in the process. Durring my acclimatizing test hike time in Mammoth, California I was experiencing abdominal pain below my navel. This pain doubled me over with pain as I hiked/walked. On morning of 7/12/23 after a few test hikes, in which I was doubling over with pain on a consistent basis, I called Dr. Taylor. He did not seem concerned that the pain was now 6 days out and continuing. He told me to put heat on it. After the test hike that day I decided it would be wise to seek medical evaluation as I was leaving for the High Sierras in soon and I did not want to be out in the wilderness with no way to access help other than helicopter if something were to happen. 7/12/23 I went to the Mammoth California Hospital emergency room. This emergency room visit cost me $6,255,36. As a direct result of my last chiropractic treatment appointment with Dr. Taylor I was caused consistent ongoing excessive pain (as it began in his office directly after his side laying adjustment to my back). I contacted Dr. Taylor 7/30/23 by email as I was still experiencing pain. The worst pain was when I was summiting Mt. Whitney 7/19/23 at 14,500ft. I have a high activity level and this type of excursion is a regular thing for me. Dr. Taylor responded to my email stating he did not believe he did anything wrong and refused to assist me in any way to address my emergency room costs.

So, when I'm sitting on my friends couch and contemplating if I should exercise, then kinda seriously injuring my back while not moving and still sitting on the couch...I feel like that's a sign...that I should go to the chiropractor and also start working out before my appendages start randomly falling off due to disuse. I had been to Align Studios for a yoga class just a week or so prior. The instructors (one of whom was also the chiropractor I saw) were quite knowledgeable and the class was amazing. I also kind of wanted to die in the middle of it, but in the best way, because the class was challenging and strenuous and I was covered in sweat. I really appreciated the adjustments and direction that the instructors made and I felt like I received great workout but also ended with a nice yoga vibe (I don't think this is a real thing, but I'm making it one). The studio itself is a beautiful and relaxing space with plenty spaces for bags, changing rooms, lots of sunlight, and they also sell a small selection of yoga supplies and essential oils (and maybe other stuff? There were cookies, so I was distracted). EVERYONE was incredibly friendly and very welcoming. There was also a concurrently running Lululemon trunk show and I purchased an amazing travel blanket scarf with ARMHOLES! But I digress... When deciding where to go for my first chiropractic experience, I decided to go back to Align Studios/Health. I called on a Sunday (What chiropractor is even open on a sunday!?!? bonus points!!!) and made an appointment for the next day. The person at the desk was super nice and very knowledgeable. After a very quick wait, Dr. Paul escorted me into his office/examination room. He understood that this was my first visit to a chiropractor ever and was both clear and thorough in his explanation. While I don't think that anyone enjoys getting an injury treated, this was certainly a relatively quick and painless visit. This is where the review is going to get very unintelligent, because I don't remember things ever. Dr. Paul used some type of pulsating machine combined with heat to make my back swell less, then he did some weird push-y thing on my back, then he cracked my back/neck. All I know is I felt significantly less pain then when I came in. I made a follow up appointment (I think this will take maybe four visits, per Dr. Paul) and promptly received an email confirmation. Obviously I'll be back as I'm the kind of person that breaks herself while sitting still on a couch, but I feel better about the healing process thanks to my experience at Align Studios/Health. I can definitely see myself signing up for more yoga classes and I definitely rank this class among the top three yoga classes I've attended. tl;dr Go here for yoga or chiropractic services, because this place is awesome and everyone is super nice and also knows their stuff!!!!
